    Double Scoop

Awesome ice cream spot with a wide variety of flavors. They always have rotating limited edition flavors (seasonal) in addition to the classic flavors. Some of these flavors are very interesting and unique, like the Pear and Blue Cheese flavor. I tend to stick with my favorites, which are Salted Malted Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Hazelnut Cookies and Cream. Their ice cream is very rich, creamy, and high quality. The staff are very friendly and patient here. They let you taste samples of as many flavors as you would like. I always end up getting the double scoop to share with my husband because it is a way better value than just getting a single scoop. Also, you might be craving for more if you only get one ice cream scoop. I always see this location looking busy with a line of people. Luckily the line moves quickly. It is pretty cool that they even sell pints of ice cream, which you can grab from their fridge. The only thing I dislike about this place is that it is difficult to find parking. There is street parking that is usually already full, but unfortunately no designated parking lot. If parking was easier to find, I would definitely be visiting more often.

I have been wanting to come here for quite some time now since they have such unique flavors and ice cream is my favorite. If we lived in the area, I believe this would be a place I would visit frequently. The only issue was the parking. Unless the locals wanna share where a better parking place would be... then you'll end up driving round and round til a spot frees up or you have to walk a small distance. The place is pretty popular because there's tons of people visiting. The lines are long, but I wouldn't be intimidated because it does go by fast. They have a few flavors that change out, but from my understanding they have their regular flavors too. I wouldn't trust the pictures since their flavors change.

Tried Salt & Straw in the L.A. Arts Dist. Place is clean and they offer many cool & unique flavors as well as some favorites. I tried a few samples. My nephew had the Cookies and Cream. Price is a bit high. Parking: Street Rating: 31/2 Stars

Been here 3x now and love their flavors! It's not necessarily a place I seek out since their ice cream is on the heavy side but if I'm in the area I will be tempted to go. I love their chocolate brownie flavor, coffee and the monthly rotations they have!

Visited here on a Friday evening & it was moderately busy. This specific spot is very spacious compared to other Salt & Straws, clean interior is always a plus. Love that they have a little merchandise store with some benches inside & some open tables outside. Parking here can be a bit tough though. Either parking on the curb which can be hard due to how packed the Art District can get. The alternate is to park in paid lots that can range from $4 - $15+ Staff here is great, my wife and I wanted to try plenty of ice cream flavors and they were really accommodating & friendly. We decided on a double scoop on a cup. Our two flavors combined were Salted Malted Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough & Hazelnut Cookies & Cream. Scoop sizes are pretty big and pretty overflowing for the cups. It would be perfect if the cups were just a bit bigger to hold the scoops. Although it's a bit sweet, it was the perfect dessert after a meal. Overall, great spot for ice cream, can't go wrong with any flavors as all the flavors are delicious. Love the vibes here because of the staff, will definitely be back whenever I'm in the area.

I love Salt & Straw! It was delicious. We tried a scoop of the lavender and the brownie chocolate, and they were definitely shareable. We had a hard time finding parking, and we were there on Friday night, so it was busier than usual. However, it was really fun to be there on a Friday night. It's a great store with plenty of space to enjoy your ice cream, and there are so many flavors to choose from. The team there is really nice and happy to help out if you need to try more flavors or if you need an extra cup for your ice cream. We plan to return!

Salt & Straw is good ice cream for those that are looking to be a little adventurous, As for me, i like my classics without devianting to fair from the norm. The line was quick and typically busy. The smell of the place is wonderful and the taste of the ice cream matches the scent. Parking is not so great imo, so be prepared to walk if you're looking to stop by.

Wildflower Honey and Lemon Chess Pie and Coconut Cherry Pie with Almond Crust
    Cris I.

I'd been to different S&S locations but this was the first time I've been to this one which was in DTLA Arts District. After dining in nearby Afuri, I decided to have ice cream for dessert. This location was a lot bigger than others. There were two people helping customers so line went fast. There was a bench inside and a lot more seats outside. Every time I go to S&S, I always go for their seasonal items. I tried two of these seasonal items and knew I wanted them right away. I got a scoop each of these two flavors: Wildflower Honey and Lemon Chess Pie. Lemon chess pie pieces folded into cultured frozen yogurt, sweetened with wildflower honey and topped with lemon curd. Coconut Cherry Pie with Almond Crust. A rich coconut cream base blended with sour cherry filling and bits of almond shortbread crust. I really loved both of them and I'm planning to get them before they get replaced by new seasonal items. Most likely, I'll get pints to keep them on stock in my freezer.

    Coffee Chamomile Sherbet

My friend and I wanted to celebrate with ice cream and we ended up at this Salt & Straw location in the Arts District. It's been a while since I've treated myself to Salt & Straw and I've been mindful about doing more activities that connect with my inner child. Walking in, my senses were activated by the smell of sweet happiness. The Coffee Chamomile Sherbet caught my attention because I was curious how a sherbet is marked vegan. I was also curious about the juxtaposition of caffeine and calm from the two flavors. Flavor-wise, OMG YUMMY!!! The kids scoop is the perfect size for me too. https://yelp.to/VIUjWouDG8 Staff here is nice. The store is clean. We sat outside in front of the store for people watching. Parking can be quite difficult because it's Art District. But if I'm already in the area, this is an absolute stop.

The service is amazing, there is a good amount of both indoor and outdoor seating with a cute vibe, & the ice cream.. do we need to even say it.. PHENOMENAL! They have very unique favors of ice cream like pear & blue cheese?! Surprisingly & oddly good. Highly recommend!

Salt & Straw just launched their new flavors that are inspired by their second ice cream cookbook! Flavors we tried: --Vanilla Custard with Butterscotch Swirls (vanilla custard drizzle with house made butterscotch) --Strawberry Tres Leches (strawberry ice cream with a cinnamon-spiked vanilla tres leches cake swirl and strawberry jam) --Chocolate Chili Crisp Peanut Butter Crisps (chocolate ice cream with house made chili crisp peanut butter cups and peanut butter marshmallow fluff) --Matcha Matcha Man (ceremonial grade matcha with tangerine juice) Highlights include the chocolate chili crisp and the vanilla custard mixed with the strawberry tres leches

What We Ordered: -Baseball Scoop -Chocolate Brownie Waffle Cone with one scoop split in half -One Scoop of Ice cream in a Cup Salt and Straw is probably my favorite ice cream joint in LA. I love Ice Cream and try to have it as much as I can. This is my second time at this location! I love how they have a great selection of seasonal options. I came here around Halloween, and they have some great flavors. I came here near the beginning of February, and they have some great Valentine's Day-inspired flavors where they incorporated chocolatiers into their Ice Cream. I really wish I could come in November for Thanksgiving and in December for Christmas. I will have to circle back later this year. I really need to make a concerted effort to come here around each holiday to see what innovative flavors they have come up with next! I came here so I could share this spot with my family, as they've never been to Salt and Straw before. We'll definitely be back! I love the vibe here. Everyone is super nice and friendly! They let you try several samples until you find the right flavor of ice cream for you.

We were in the area and I noticed there was a Salt & Straw, so we made sure to add that as our next stop. It's located in Arts District of Downtown LA so you know what that means - hard to find parking in an industrial area. I loved the look, more industrial that the other locations, but it was modern. You get in line to the right and they call you by group to the counter, similar to the other locations. They have rotating flavor so there's always something new to try, so make sure to try samples! Coffee & Love Nuts - I love this signature flavor. The nuts are candied so there's a lot of texture. I like to drop this in a coke to make a float! Service was ok, not the best. Parking can be a hassle, street parking or paid parking in the lots. Recommended if already within walking distance.

Salt & Straw Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Salt & Straw

Do they have a keto icecream?

I did not see anything that would lend itself to being identified as "keto-friendly".

When is the Roasted Strawberry and toasted white chocolate available again?

Do they have pistachio ice cream?

The last couple of times that I've visited they did not have pistachio ice cream. They have their standard flavors and also have feature flavors, which change monthly.

    How is the parking?

It's the arts district so Sunday - Wednesday it's not that hard to find street parking especially in the early evening and late night.

Matcha einspener: I tasted this and immediately loved it when leaving the store. I saved it for last. It was so light and refreshing. I could easily drink it all day if they had a bigger size lol. I was hoping to try the seasonal mango cream matcha, but sadly it was gone. 3. Pastries: I wanted to try the sampler but I don't thinking they had it yet. I tried one of the cinnamon pastries. Here's a helpful tip: The bank next door allows 10 minutes of parking if you use their ATM and keep your receipt. There is security in the lot, so be sure to have your receipt as proof of the time. It's more than enough time to run next door and grab your treats. I ordered a slice of the lemon loaf, a gluten-free cookie, and the classic chocolate chip cookie. The lemon loaf slice is huge, I'd say it's the equivalent of two slices, so it's definitely big enough to share. As for the cookies, Levain is known for making them thick and rich. A small piece goes a long way, making them perfect for savoring over a couple of days (if you have that much self-control!). The moment you walk inside, you're greeted by the incredible aroma of freshly baked pastries, and the service was warm and welcoming. I truly think everyone should experience a Levain cookie or pastry at least once. It's worth the visit!

We've seen all the viral fruit pastries online, and were so excited to try them. When we got in, we were able to see all of the options on display and they had a big menu telling you exactly what was in each one. You order off of a kiosk, which makes it incredibly easy to order. Almost all of our pastries were ready before we had even left the kiosk, which was great! I went with the mango and the peach, both of which were fantastic! The shortbread cookie underneath both was delicious, the mango mousse and filling tasted so fresh and amazing. The peach had an Earl Grey cream and fresh peach chunks as well. Both were in the classic white chocolate shell. These are so cute, fun to eat, very refreshing, and not overly sweet. The shop itself is adorable, plenty of seating, great decor and the staff was super friendly and very nice! These fruit pastries have absolutely gone viral, and there's many shops that do them, but Tu Cha is hands-down, the best!

It's just tiktok hype, save the time and get dessert somewhere else…read more What I ate: - Lemon shaped was probably the best of the flavors I tried. I also like the mango shaped one. The peach shaped and was forgettable Pros: - The cakes are very very cute and amazing to look at - Shop inside had a few tables. It seemed like most were just couples or a few friends sharing - Kiosk ordering do no need for human interaction if you don't want it Cons: - I really hated that the flavors did not match up to the cake shapes. I think I liked the lemon shaped one the best because it has the most citrusy passionfruit flavor. But when I break into the mango shaped cake, I expect a strong mango flavor. If the flavors were not going to match, I would've much rather like it if the cakes were in different shapes like a cute cartoonish animal, or smiley face, or a daisy. Some shape that I wouldn't associate with flavor - I also wasn't a huge fan of the flavor combos. I feel like they were really trying to go out there but often times the fruit flavors used didn't really match up with the tea or nut flavors. The flavors were not balanced at all, often just very muddled with one flavor either being too strong or not strong enough, or interfering with a fruits flavor. Some of the cakes were floral tasting from tea or almost slightly savory. The cakes are not sweet at all. Maybe I was just unlucky and tried the worst flavors. Again the lemon shaped one was the best because passionfruit flavor was sharp enough to cut through the other flavors - Parking is street and can be hit or miss - Expensive - I ordered a drink and I don't see it on the menu, or I just can't remember it. That's how different it was. I do remember thinking it was so sweet Would I go again? Absolutely not
