I was first introduced to Kream Kong's ice cream when they were the saving grace on a hot summer day at the Barks and Brews Yelp Elite event. Impressed by their positive attitude and quality scoops, I've given them an Instagram follow since then and try to visit their truck whenever they're within proximity. And the last time I had them...oh let me tell you. Picture this - it was at the 626 Night Market. The sun has set. I had just demolished a hawaiian shrimp rice plate, and I was on the prowl for something sweet. Waving in and out of the long lines and sea of foodies, I see a familiar face. An old coworker? Someone from high school? No, it was Kream Kong's gorilla on their banner signaling me to Sweetsville. I came, I saw, I ordered, I conquered, I came again. After sampling their offerings, I decided on their Red Velvet Oreo flavor and nearly had a darn existential crisis. I SERIOUSLY never give two *bleeps* about Red Velvet anything, BUT THEIRS WAS A GAME CHANGER. Finally, a rendition of Red Velvet that was not too dense or diabetes-inducing, but rather creamy, delightful, and won't make you feel guilty for finishing. Plus, mixed with Oreos? Oh lawdy lawd, it was perfect. I could've had two scoops alone, and that's saying a lot considering I am not the biggest chocolate person, let alone a sweets person. Maybe you'll be lucky to come across that heavenly flavor I had, maybe you won't, but I'm sure they won't disappoint either way! They're always offering a good mix of familiar "basic" flavors while also having a few "oOOh iiIintErreStiNGG" ones up their sleeves, such as ube and cookie butter. If that doesn't tickle your sugar fancy, they also got something called a Kong Kookie, which is probably the closest you'll get to finding a pizookie on wheels. Also worth noting their prices are super reasonable (which is usually rare for a 626 night market stand). Kream Kong was at the Bark and Brew Yelp Event this past weekend. Awesome decorated truck. I love the color scheme. Very clean. The service was top notch. Very friendly. Order came out quick! They were part of the event so I do not know how much individual orders cost. Kong Kookie - For the event it was a ice cream scoop base, cookie on top, 2 mini scoops on top of that, and topped with a topping. I got vanilla bean base, white chip macadamia cookie, coffee & cookie mini scoops, and oreo & almond toppings. Ice Cream tasted very similar to Fosselman's, it was very creamy. Cookies tasted homemade. Great dessert for the hot morning. read more

I've been following Kream Kong since they opened because I LOVEEE ice cream! I'm always willing to try a new hip ice cream spot and what's more hip than handcrafted ice cream on wheels?? I was so stoked when I saw that they're going to be in Highland Park because that's my hood. I caught them on a nice Sunday on York Blvd. I was pretty impressed by their options of flavors being it's a truck. They had a vegan option! It was mango sorbet. Im not a vegan but it was the PERFECT treat walking down in the mild heat. My husband got one of their kong's cookie since that's what they're known for. We had a choice of chocolate chip or white chocolate macadamia and had to go with the white chocolate! We were unsure of what to get on top so we just went with ol' reliable vanilla bean. Love how they warm up the cookie before it's served... that's the way it should be! Taste exactly like a pizookie at BJs. They also had other flavors such as blueberry cheesecake and red velvet oreos. Never seen those flavors before but def need to try those next time. Overall, I give this truck a thumbs up! It hit the spot for our sweet cravings after we ate and the truck looks so cool! It seems like they don't do many public events as all I see them at are private or catering events. I was at LACMA this past weekend and there's always at least 4-5 food trucks there.  I didn't see anything that I was craving until I saw an ice cream truck!  Who doesn't get excited when they see an ice cream truck?!  It was pretty windy and cold but that never stops my craving for some nice delicious ice creammmm.   I made my way over to their truck and they had a pretty decent amount of flavors.  They also had HOT CHOCOLATE!  It's pretty rare to see an ice cream truck that serves actual scoops of ice cream let alone hot chocolate so this was a good start.  I sampled their ube and cookie monster and they were both bomb.  They also have an item called kongs cookie.  It's basically a pizookie dessert but their own little twist on it.  I had to get one of those because I love pizookies.  I got mine with the cookie monster and I love how the cookie is warm!  WARM!!  My boyfriend got vanilla bean since that's his go to and of course we got a hot chocolate for the cool weather. I hope they're here often even in this cold weather because I crave ice cream even more when it's cold.  I can't be the only one?! read more

Got to experience this dessert truck at a local food truck gathering event two weeks ago in the Westside. Highly, highly, recommended! Firstly, phenomenal presentation! The way the warm cookie blends in with their home made ice cream and toppings was perfect for my instagram account. Secondly, generous portions! I was really happy that they didn't go cheap on me with the size of their home made cookies and scoops of ice cream. it felt like I got 1.5 scoops for the price of 1. Thirdly, the husband and wife duo are super sweet and nice. Not only did they work efficiently as a super team, I had an opportunity to chat with them about their business direction and dreams. Kream Kong is a revolutionary, hip, and fun twist on your standard ice cream. Their flavors are well thought out and you can tell they definitely put a lot of heart and soul into their ideas and creation. One of my favorite things about their ice cream is the Kong cookie! It appears to be such a big hit and, not surprisingly, always sold out (if you follow their social media IG - @kreamkongicecream, you'll see there's constantly a "sold out" label over this). I honestly wish they sold that by itself so that I could indulge in the sweet, delicious cookie at a later time (hint hint-Kong owners!!). Speaking of which: the owners are extremely personable--they allowed me to sample a few of their flavors before I had to make the very hard decision in selecting the right one for me and ended up with the Kong Cookie with classic vanilla bean. If you ever see this truck around, be sure to check them out. I promise they're better than your local Coldstone Creamery and a bunch of other [similar] concepts by a landslide. read more

I was able to catch the Kream Kong truck the past two Sundays when I was visiting LACMA. I wasn't able to try them out the first time but I got a chance this past Sunday. They have a good variety of ice cream. I sampled the Ube and Cookie Butter and omg... COOKIE BUTTERRR. I went with the Kong's Cookie with the chocolate chip cookie with cookie butter. SUCH AN AMAZING COMBO!! I was told the cookies are baked fresh daily and they warm it up before it's served. The ice cream is very creamy and rich which is what I look for in my ice cream. The Kong's Cookie comes with oreos and chocolate drizzle and I also added cinnamon toast crunch on top. They offer a wide variety of toppings and it's only $1 for UNLIMITED! I could've gone crazy with it but just kept it simple since it was my first time trying them out. My wife got the chamango ice cream because she loves chamango. This is served with their mango sorbet topped with chamoy and tajin. She asked for EXTRA chamoy because who doesn't love chamoy?! They are also a very new truck and only been open for about 2 months. The gentlemen (I think he is the owner) who was helping me was super helpful and patient as I was making my decision. I hope they keep coming back to LACMA as I am a frequent visitor here but they go all around LA county and Orange County too I believe. If you haven't had a chance to catch them on the road, you MUST give it a try if you love pizookies as much as I do! read more
