    DELICIOUS RED VELVET OREO
    Liz L.

I was first introduced to Kream Kong's ice cream when they were the saving grace on a hot summer day at the Barks and Brews Yelp Elite event. Impressed by their positive attitude and quality scoops, I've given them an Instagram follow since then and try to visit their truck whenever they're within proximity. And the last time I had them...oh let me tell you. Picture this - it was at the 626 Night Market. The sun has set. I had just demolished a hawaiian shrimp rice plate, and I was on the prowl for something sweet. Waving in and out of the long lines and sea of foodies, I see a familiar face. An old coworker? Someone from high school? No, it was Kream Kong's gorilla on their banner signaling me to Sweetsville. I came, I saw, I ordered, I conquered, I came again. After sampling their offerings, I decided on their Red Velvet Oreo flavor and nearly had a darn existential crisis. I SERIOUSLY never give two *bleeps* about Red Velvet anything, BUT THEIRS WAS A GAME CHANGER. Finally, a rendition of Red Velvet that was not too dense or diabetes-inducing, but rather creamy, delightful, and won't make you feel guilty for finishing. Plus, mixed with Oreos? Oh lawdy lawd, it was perfect. I could've had two scoops alone, and that's saying a lot considering I am not the biggest chocolate person, let alone a sweets person. Maybe you'll be lucky to come across that heavenly flavor I had, maybe you won't, but I'm sure they won't disappoint either way! They're always offering a good mix of familiar "basic" flavors while also having a few "oOOh iiIintErreStiNGG" ones up their sleeves, such as ube and cookie butter. If that doesn't tickle your sugar fancy, they also got something called a Kong Kookie, which is probably the closest you'll get to finding a pizookie on wheels. Also worth noting their prices are super reasonable (which is usually rare for a 626 night market stand). Overall, if you ever see their truck around LA or their business as a stand at a festival, they're definitely worth checking out! Say hello to my gorilla homie for me :)

Kong Cookie - Coffee n Cream

Kream Kong was at the Bark and Brew Yelp Event this past weekend. Awesome decorated truck. I love the color scheme. Very clean. The service was top notch. Very friendly. Order came out quick! They were part of the event so I do not know how much individual orders cost. Kong Kookie - For the event it was a ice cream scoop base, cookie on top, 2 mini scoops on top of that, and topped with a topping. I got vanilla bean base, white chip macadamia cookie, coffee & cookie mini scoops, and oreo & almond toppings. Ice Cream tasted very similar to Fosselman's, it was very creamy. Cookies tasted homemade. Great dessert for the hot morning.

Smooth and creamy Ice Cream. With a good portion and reasonable price. There cookies and Cream Ice cream looks different but taste very good.

    Good to the last drop!

We had a great experience with Kream Kong! From the moment I reached out, they had excellent communication and were super friendly. They texted me their flyer with what flavors they have right now and delivered them right to my door. They added in a couple of samples of some other flavors for us to try which were very yummy as well! I would definitely get ice cream from them again!

The place is super small and no line, but the flavors were plentiful. I forget what they do, but you can get a combo of flavors in a single scoop. Then, an eternity ago, it closed and we were sad. Then Long Beach Creamery opened and we weren't that sad for that long, but still, I absolutely still thought about them every once in a while, sad that they'd left. Then, a much closer eternity ago (about a year ago - I've been super burned-out and not finishing my reviews), I was on my way from an event back to the blue line and walked by and noticed that they had, in fact, just moved. So obviously we had to get some. Verdict - yes, it absolutely was as good as I remembered. I wouldn't go back to DTLA just for ice cream, Long Beach Creamery being walking distance and wonderful, but I would absolutely stop here if I were back in DTLA and wanted ice cream. It's a bit pricey, but all craft ice cream is going to be, and it is definitely craft. And you can save a lot by getting a 3-scoop, which is very much enough to share for two people, if not slightly too much.

My boyfriend tried the vanilla soft serve with Nutella filled Aboong. The warm fish against the cold ice cream created a great mix of textures and flavours, but once the fish is gone the ice cream itself is just ok. The taiyaki, in my humble opinion, are the winners. The Oreo taiyaki was absolutely delicious! It came out super fresh, they filled both the body AND tail with Oreo so every bite had a great ratio of chewy fish and filling. This location always fills their Taiyaki evenly which I appreciate, it's much better than the ones I've tried in Sawtelle. It's really affordable too, so definitely come try it.

The restaurant is small and tables are situated as best they can with one blocking the employee only door. The manager worker, pushing a cart told me that I was blocking this way and he needed to get him to the entrance. I proceeded to get up and allow him to move the chair where he wanted to. He told me well. I'm gonna be coming back back-and-forth as if to say don't sit back down. Another customer witnessing the exchange move the chair so that he could get in and out. When he came back out, he points to the chair and say you can sit down now. Customer service needs everything to me to include management having a responsibility to the customer that support their business. I just feel that if I were Asian, he wouldn't have addressed him in that way.

I bought 30g of their matcha and admittedly thought when they didn't give it to me at the counter that they forgot, but I sat down at a table to eat my ice cream and decided to just ask for it after I finished. Thank goodness I did, because the cashier came up to my table about 10 minutes later and handed me a little bag of fresh-ground matcha. She took a second to explain to me how to store it and keep it fresh, and I just really appreciated the extra bit of customer service, even if it's something they're maybe expected to do. When I have the money, I'll definitely come back and get their 100g pack! They have so many locations and only wish they had more. The closest to me is about 20mins away but it's worth the drive every time. I love this location especially. Always such friendly staff and never have to wait in a long line. Basically, if you're a newbie, you go in and ALWAYS as for the "seasonal flavors" for tasting. They give you tasters on silver spoons and you drop it down this hole when you're done. It's literally their culture to give you a taste of everything on their seasonal menu so don't skip out on this experience. It's the best way to try their ice cream. FUN FACT: they also have 1-2 flavors that are considered "last chance" flavors which means they are about to run out so get it before it's gone. Each month I go in to try another tasty flavor and it never disappoints but I am sometimes that girl who tries the new stuff but ends up getting her usual order (chocolate brownie) and am always happy. Just the smell of sugar cone alone when you walk in gets you hooked. The atmosphere is just so welcoming. Don't be intimidated by the many flavors to choose from because there are a lot. I like to get their double scoop in a waffle cone, but they also have awesome split scoop options for those more adventurous and want to try multiple flavors in one scoop.
