I was craving a smoothie close to where I was working for the day at LA General and decided to give Juice It Up a try. I had one of their classic smoothies, the Strawberry Wave. It was good but a little on the sweet side which I wasn't too much of a fan of. I guess if I need a sugar boost or afternoon pick-me-up, I would get it again but not something I would specifically go back to for. The only problem is the lazy staff members that advertise that they are open at 9am and when you are unable to make an online order because they're websites down. I arrived around 10am, called multiple times and got no response, I saw a Spanish female employee inside the store the open sign NOT turned on. I walked in wanting a simple drink that has oranges. When I asked for it, the employee told me they were out of oranges. That alone was surprising but and confusing was the fact that I could clearly see a full basket of oranges sitting right behind the counter. I do not recommend this particular location of Juice It Up because it doesn't live up to the standards of the brand. That's it, plain and simple, and no ill will and feelings. It is a shame though, because initially, I thought it was great to have an accessible smoothie place available close by. The convenience was definitely the most cherished feature for me. However, after multiple visits, over time, there came a point that I decided I could no longer tolerate subpar products and service, and that determination was quite strong--I haven't visited since. Even to date, I can still recite all the reasons why I don't think this is an acceptable venue: Wait time. This one is a big one, since there had not been any single visit where I wouldn't wait for at least 20 to 30 minutes, going from placing an order to actually obtaining the drinks. For most of us with an always-on-the-go lifestyles, promptness is sadly quite important and somewhat expected. Now going to the root of the problem: why does this branch take so long to fulfill orders? From my observation, there seems to be a staffing problem. For most visits that I made in the past, I arrived on weekdays around noon to afternoon time frames. Understandably, to conserve resources, you wouldn't overstaff. I understand that. So there's always only one person on duty, if my memory serves me correctly. And there lies the main concern--if you're going to rely one single employee to keep your business running smoothly, that person must be well trained and in top shape. More often than not, it's just a high school or college student with a side job, with minimum training and practice, and the resulting wait times were unacceptable (but logically) lengthy. I do give props for most workers for trying their best. I haven't met anyone who just outright slacked off. They did what they could at their best personal paces. It simply boiled down to the fact that their efforts just weren't cutting it for today's standards. Product quality is another area that needed attention and improvement. Smoothies in general were edible. For their prices, they're ok. I do prefer the consistent quality from Jamba Juice better, but as I said, the ones from Juice It Up were ok. The one acai bowl from my very last visit though: Terrible! It was on that day that I decided I'd never patronize this particular business again. (Sorry!) It was way watery, without the thicker texture or consistency that is signature of a good acai bowl. I even remembered drinking it down like liquid. *Shudder* What pushed me over the edge was that, I only ordered the acai bowl due to a coupon from the company. It was supposed to give me 50% off. The worker of the day, however, did not know how to operate coupon function of the register properly; so instead, she opted to give me 25% off (employee discount) instead. She seemed very ecstatic and proud of herself for doing so, but honey, that's not the same. I appreciate your effort, but you still missed the mark. (But you did your best!) And hence, I never returned back. Some days, I really wish this place would shape up and I could get some quality frozen drinks treats when the weather is hot. Nonetheless, my more than enough encounters from the past always remind me that it'd be a bad decision. read more

This locations is often understaffed :( I came in over the weekend and luckily there was no wait time but my drink still took a while. The cashier didn't ask if I wanted to scan my rewards card and by the time I ask if I could add the points to my account the cashier said it was too late and there was nothing she could do. Also, while I was there another employee (without a shirt) came in, made themselves a drink, and ignored the people waiting in line.
