I've given this place multiple chances and they always let me down. Mostly for their fruit bowls. They are always out of something which is not their fault but they can't follow instructions on how to build the bowl. I've gotten a bowl 3 times there and every time they mess something up. If I'm paying for extra I expect extra and they don't give it to me. The workers always act like they don't want to be there or do their job. The acai bowls here are literally the worst you can get. They're always runny and most of the time you'll be getting a giant hunk of frozen "acai" that hasn't been properly blended into the mix. This is definitely a training issue and should be addressed. I come here always expecting there to be a different experience but it's always the same runny lack luster experience. Needed something sweet so decided to get myself a smoothie here. I usually head to Jamba but thought I'd try this place. They have smoothies, bowls, grab and go snacks. You can customize by adding additional toppings and/or mix-ins. I decided on the Lucky Lemon Punch. The flavor was good, not overly sweet but the lemon part was barely noticeable. Still, I finished it as it hit the spot in this warm day. Service was pretty fast during my visit, but I wouldn't say particularly friendly or welcoming. First time here and I'm not sure if I'll be going back, first off the line here gets way too long, it does move fast but waiting for the order can take longer. I can't remember the drink I got, but it came with lemonade and it was tooo sour. My friend got the exact same thing and maybe that's why it was sour because the girl made both of our drinks in one blender? Not sure, if that's why but it wasn't good. Thought I could award myself by giving in to my sweet tooth cravings. I just finished a portion of my final, and conveniently walked to this Juice It Up on campus. What's cool about this Juice It Up location is that it has a frozen yogurt bar, Ziiing, inside as well. I debated between a drink versus yogurt, and the drink won in favor. After getting a poor attempt of getting "hit on" by another customer, I ordered a 16oz Orange Blitz (Orange juice, non-fat yogurt, orange sherbet, banana & blueberries) with a Fat Burner boost. (Yes, they do have boosters and you get one free with a drink: Immunizer, Energy, Calcium Plus, Fat Burner, Vita Boost, Protein Power, and Memory Surge). It took about three or for minutes and I got my drink. Now, I've had Juice It Up at other locations, but my drink disappointed me. Yes, "juice" is in the store's name, but I don't expect "juice," when my drink was under the "Smoothie" category. Plus it was a bit too sweet for my taste. Nevertheless, I finished it because I didn't want my $3.75 to go to waste. Service was alright, and nothing special. But it kind of sucks to get a bad drink after doing well on my final. And double sucks when a weird guy tries to hit on you when all you want is a drink. But I can't blame that part on Juice It Up. read more

Today I thought to myself "whoa, it's been a long time since I've had Juice It Up" I thought it was just because I'm always at HDFC and never on main campus - but nope, it's cause Juice It Up kinda sorta sucks. $4.25 gets you a 24 ounce smoothie. I chose the pineapple/mango one. Pineapple sounded good, but maybe it's because the menu is too god damn high and written too god damn small that even though I've had corrective eye surgery I still can't read what is on the top of the menu board. Also, would it hurt to smile?! I love the fact that there was one guy in front of me in line and the two people that came in after me still managed to get their smoothies first. Bleh. I prefer this place over jamba juice because of the quality of their drinks. I love their matcha smoothie. I can actually taste fruit and vegetables in it, it also tastes a lot healthier too. The drinks are a bit pricey and the employees are hit or miss. Some of the employees are great or super slow because they are talking a bunch. Also, they shouldn't be talking while dealing with people's food/drinks because of possible contamination of potential spit. Bad customer service. The employees are rude and rushed. I place an order at 10:20 just for a regular bowl and didn't receive it until 10:58. I was late to class and didnt enjoy it. They took almost 40 mins to make my bowl. I understand they make not have a lot of employees but that means they should put more people to work so it doesn't so long for people to get their orders. My only problem with this place is that the yogurt machine has been broken for years. I came back to Calstate LA for graduates and the first thing I did was run to Juice It Up to ask for yogurt thinking that life has changed for the better. To my surprise and disappointment, I am told that the machine is STILL broken. And what's more shocking is that the employees said they don't know when it will be fixed. At this rate, probably never. What am I going to eat from now on? I make it a daily ritual to ask because I am persistent and never give up hope when it comes to their delicious plain yogurt which I faintly remember and took for granted many years ago. They have great $1 ice teas that I don't see advertised anymore, but they still sell it every time I go there. I don't buy smoothies here because most of them use juice blends, and I am very wary of juice blends, but I really like a couple of their raw juices. The Awakener (orange, carrot, ginger) and Rejuvenator (apple, carrot, beet, cucumber, ginger) are very good and they juice it in front of you, so you can make sure they are putting all of your veggies in. I recommend getting the Rejuvenator either without the apple juice or at least replacing it with orange juice. These juices are expensive for what they are ($4.75), but they're the best thing on the menu and quite possibly the healthiest drink on campus (after water, of course..). Their regular acai bowls are pretty good, but a little too sweet. Ask for it with water instead of apple juice-- it is still plenty sweet with the acai, bananas, granola, and honey!! read more

What's the difference between Juice it Up and any other smoothie shop? Well, this place just isn't quite as good.The smoothies aren't the best quality; often times they come out still lumpy. I'm not a huge fan of them, having wasted countless dollars on these smoothies. Plus, they run out of their juice for the smoothies pretty often. Yet there's one thing, in my opinion, saving this place. That thing would be the iced tea. You can get any flavor they have (apple, mango, strawberry, pineapple, papaya, watermelon, etc.). This juice it up is advertising falsely. I went in and ordered a Açaí bowl. The sign stated that you could choose three topping and a boost was free. So advised that I wanted a protein boost and was advised that I'd have to pay for it. I pointed at the sign whereas it stated that the boost was free. The young lady asked another employee who came over and stated that the boost were no longer free and that I'd have to pay for it or I would have to substitute one of my toppings for the boost. I advised that's fine as I didn't want to argue with theses young women so I substituted one of my toppings for a whey protein boost. The original cashier began to ring me up and slid my debit card. However, the other young lady said wait it still charged her for the boost, and came over to take it off. She rerang it up and then walked away to prepare my bowl and the cashier again slid my card and asked what should she do with the other canceled slip that printed out the other lady told her to toss it. Now, two days later my debit card account updated and there were two pending charges from JIU. I tried contacting them immediately about the duplicate charge but no one answers the phone. I was only on campus to attend a training for my employer so I'm not a student there on a regular basis. I feel that JUI should train their employees better because state law indicates that if it's advertised you have to honor it. So I will be reporting this location to the better business bureau and I want my money back or at least another bowl for the duplicate charge!!! Update: They made it right. I finally got ahold of someone (Amy) who was very nice. She told me to come back in and they'd refund me. When I arrived she couldn't locate the transaction the system as there was no receipt even though I was able to show her the double charge on my banking app. So she stated that she had to contact the manager. She called and no answer so instead of going back i just requested another bowl and she said yes and made a bowl immediately. I appreciate her taking me immediately even though there was a line, she tried her best to look up the receipt quickly to address the situation and made sure that I was satisfied. Thank you Amy! My experience was the worst. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS. I went inside when there was no one in there and ordered my drink. It was really quick so therefore my drink should have been fast as well. The guy who made my order start making the drink and put it in the blender. Then he began talking to his co workers (girls) and went to the back. I thought he would come out again but when he did, he was on his phone and continued to talk. The girl co-workers did the same. Then a couple of students came in and ordered their drink. I'm guessing the girls were new because they kept asking if the amount or ingredients were correct. My drink was done and still no one put it in the cup. I asked one of the girls if my drink was ready inside the blender. She gave me attitude and said "it will be done soon"...like REALLY?!! It's been done for 10 minutes. Today was my first time trying Juice it up with my friend and I won't be back. Not to this one nor any of them. First impressions are everything and WOW do these employees lack basic customer service skills such as cracking a smile! I ordered a small smoothie and there was about 6 people behind me (including my friend) who got their drinks before me. I was about to ask if they forgot about mine and they finally called my name. Been to this location at CSULA maybe 3 times and each time, they are out of something and have lousy workers. Only reason I am giving them 2 stars instead of 1 is because honestly, it's not hard to mess up a smoothie, and the fat free cookies here (already packaged though) are pretty good. Each time they say they don't have one of those punch cards so I have never received one from this location, and they have been out of whatever juice I wanted before.
