It was a hot day, and they looked absolutely perfect for the weather. After asking the firefighters what they were drinking, I found out it was actually a protein shake made by the very store they were standing next to. Pretty extensive menu with very reasonable prices. I appreciated the art made for their special drinks and a QR code menu to look at the ingredients for each drink. I got a small Jugo Energético for $8, and I thought it tasted fresh and totally worth the money. I'll definitely come back to try more of the menu. read more

Gentrification(I know I brought up the G-word) is still eating through what's left of the original shops(well maybe not original these buildings are a hundred years old) but this juice shop still keeps bringing the good stuff. I love this place. I've been going here for more years than I can remember. Like with any long-term relationship, I'm not always 100% happy about everything. I wish the fruit and the bionico was cut a little smaller. I wish they didn't use Nestle quick for their Chocomil. Still, this place would get all the stars that are available. Everything is fresh, I've never had bad service, and considering how both the economy and the neighborhood have changed, the prices are still pretty reasonable. All of this with the fact that this is one of the few remaining OG shops from the old neighborhood, this place is a gem that should be protected. For the owners: I would like to make a suggestion. You really should turn those amazing menu designs into t-shirts and other merch. I would probably spend a ludicrous amount of money on that stuff. read more

I got a smoothie with mamey, which is a like a mix between a papaya and a melon -- absolutely delicious. Everything is very reasonably priced - 16 oz for $7 or double it to 32 oz and share with a partner for $10. Service is fast and friendly. This is my GO-TO juicery when I am craving refreshing fresh fruit juices! It is located in Highland Park by Avenue 58 in the corner and I cannot tell you how much I love this place. Juices these days are pretty expensive with price going up in everything we eat and use and I understand some people might think $8 for juice is pricey but that is the price you pay for a 32 oz juice which I believe is very very reasonable. The reason why I keep coming back to Tropical Juice LA is that it tastes so healthy and good at the same time! I do not taste any additional sugar and it's just straight fruit, blended with ice to make you content! My favorite is the Green Juice and also their Bionicos. I never knew what bionicos was until I came here. It is something I would eat when I feel like I need to go on a diet. To me, it's better than eating ice cream (I LOVE ICE CREAM) and guilt-free. It comes with a few different kinds of fruit with granola topped with home-made cream but you can also get it with honey or lowfat yogurt if you prefer that. I also tried other fruit juices like Watermelon, Strawberry & Banana and they were all so refreshing! Watermelon is one of my favorite fruits and you can't really have it all year but please do try it during summer if you happen to be nearby. The shop itself is a pretty small shack and you order outside on the sidewalk. There was only one other person in line, and service was quick. I got the green juice which was so fresh and refreshing, and I was impressed by the price( ~8) , as often these places will charge double that amount. I had not been here in years! I stopped by this evening to buy a "Jugo Verde" or green juice. I was greeted by a Latino gentleman. He asked what I would like. I said, "jugo verde, por favor." "Que tamaño?" "What size?", he asked, pointing to the two sample sizes which made it visually easier for me to select. I chose small and he quickly began to prepare it. I could see him chopping away from the small window where I ordered from. He prepared it quickly. I tasted it and was extremely pleased with the taste....not what I expected...it was soooo much better than I expected. I can't really comment on the ambiance since I didn't go inside other than it's a small wi down that is small and when I looked inside, the inside looked clean.
