    September special

I love juicy seafood on college drive and this one did not disappoint. The seafood was seasoned really good and the flavors I choice complimented it very well! The service was okay, our waiter must have been new but he was very attentive to us and truly allowed us to take our time when ordering. I do wish the daiquiri machines were working when I went. We went around 12:30 and I wanted a square but it wasn't frozen yet which was a bummer. Overall the ambiance of the place was a 10/10! They played some really good tunes while we waited for our food!

I traveled from New Orleans to eat here and it was WORTH. EVERY. SECOND. I chose the make your own combo option and had Dungeness crab and shrimp. I had the garlic butter sauce and medium spice. Everything was HOT!! So delicious that we're plotting the next trip!

All of the staff we encountered were nice. Our server was quick and attentive. The inside and outside were decorated on theme. Everything was clean and new looking. The food was hot and well seasoned. The quality of the seafood wasn't bad, but it also was not super fresh tasting. The margaritas were on sale for $5 each & they had flavors which was nice.

From the time, my friend and I walked in this establishment the manager Brian was very rude. We were not probably greeted or should I say were not greeted at all then he rudely showed us to a table. Then we asked for another table. He got mad and almost bumped into us to escort us to another table. We got to the new table, He took a paper from another table, put it on top of this table and the paper seemed to have been used. VERY RUDE & nasty.

My boyfriend and I came here on a whim. It was super clean. Zero wait. The music would not be something I would bring my 6 yr old to. However the food was GREAT. Me and my boyfriend got a 1/2 shrimp. We substituted the mussels for sausage. I don't know if it was the right move but now we know. We had 3 clustered of snow crab. 2 lobsters. Corn and potatoes. I think it was around 70$ and very worth it. You get to pick your spice level and it was great. I will say the shrimp is the best we have ever had

I do understand that when you cook them they shrink but to totally disappear was not expected. Nothing but a shell full of burnt parmesan cheese and liquid butter. And not to mention the price. The rest of the food was pretty average nothing to get excited about except for the prices. Also portion sizes were on the smaller size. I never ordered a seafood platter at Deaneies and walked out hungry? Which bring me to the 3% credit card charge which does also include the tax and they make sure you know this. Tell me what this is all about Dragos. Is this just your way of saying thanks customer we hope to never see you again? Try and make the percentage make sense. So if my bill is 20 dollars I am charged 3 percent of 20 but if my bill is 500 dollars the of course the charge is substantially higher ?? Is there a reason it is not a flat fee? Not like the wait staff had to do anything extra to swipe a 500 dollar card ?? Make this make sense?? Do yourself a favor and skip Dragos next time you want something to eat

We got here about 11:30 so it was happy hour. The restaurant wasn't busy so we got sat immediately. The service was amazing. Our food and drinks came out incredibly fast. We started with the blackened alligator for an appetizer and this was tasty but I'm still sticking with Chimes! I got the happy hour margarita which was okay but they I tried the Ghost margarita.( if I'm remembering it correctly) I should've been getting that drink from the start omg. The presentation alone made me love the drink. The ice, the tajin, omg it was good. I decided on the beef short rib and wasn't disappointed. The short rib was so tender, very flavorful. The dish was a bit on the oily side for me, more gravy would have been nice. Beside that I loved this meal. My date had the seafood pasta with shrimp and crabmeat. They give you a decent amount of crabmeat. He enjoyed his food so no complaints! I'll definitely be back.

We were in Baton Rouge helping our grandson move into his dorm as an incoming freshman at LSU, and Parrain's kept coming up in our searches and reviews. We decided to give it a try, and I'm SO glad we did! We visited on a Sunday afternoon around 2:30 p.m., and when I tell you EVERYBODY and their family was there... I mean everybody! The parking lot was packed. There is plenty of parking, but there were so many people that we still had to hunt for a spot. Thankfully, we found one under a shade tree because it was HOT! When we walked up, we fully expected a long wait. There is plenty of outdoor seating for people waiting, and I also noticed they have both steps and an accessibility ramp leading to the entrance. My daughter and I sat down while my husband stood in line to put our name on the list. About five minutes later, he was waving for us to come inside! Apparently, many of the people waiting were large groups and families coming from church, but since there were only three of us, they were able to seat us almost immediately. HUGE plus! Once inside, it was BUSY, BUSY, BUSY. It took our server a little while to initially get to us, but considering how packed the restaurant was, it really wasn't bad at all. Our waitress was very nice, and I was actually impressed with how quickly our food came out. Now let's talk about the FOOD!! We first ordered the onion rings for an appetizer... super delicious I ordered the fried shrimp platter, and those shrimp were fried to PERFECTION! Crispy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The meal also came with salad, fries, hush puppies, and a side. The hush puppies were SO GOOD! They are shaped almost like little donut holes... crispy on the outside and soft and savory on the inside. Delicious! For my side, I chose the fresh green beans instead of the dirty rice. Unfortunately, those were the one thing I didn't enjoy. They didn't have much flavor to me and seemed a little undercooked. Next time, I'll definitely choose another side. My husband ordered the fried catfish platter with dirty rice, coleslaw, and fries, and he loved everything. I tasted his coleslaw, and OH MY GOODNESS! Get the coleslaw! It was different from any coleslaw I've had before. It has whole peanuts in it, which sounds unusual, but somehow it WORKS! The peanuts add this wonderful crunch and flavor. It was SO good. And the French fries!! I've never seen fries cut this way before. They're almost shaped like little Scoop Fritos, with a crispy outside and soft potato inside. So unique and really good! My daughter ordered the catfish strips and fries from the kids' menu. These weren't processed little nuggets... they were actual pieces of catfish cut into strips, and she really enjoyed them. She also ordered the crab fingers, and those were another 10/10! They were incredibly well-seasoned with a little spice and tons of flavor. I tasted one and wanted MORE! I'm watching my sodium intake, so I behaved myself, but they were absolutely delicious. Overall, Parrain's was a 10/10 for us. The only thing I wouldn't personally order again would be the green beans. Everything else, from the shrimp and catfish to those amazing hush puppies, unique fries, crab fingers, and especially that coleslaw, was DELICIOUS. Yes, it was crowded and lively, but we still received really good service and didn't have to wait nearly as long as we expected. With our grandson now attending LSU, we'll be making plenty of trips back to Baton Rouge, and Parrain's has officially made our list of places we will be visiting again!

They are WELL known for their chargrilled oysters and have a great happy hour. Their Andouille Crusted Fresh Fish is one of the best bites in Baton Rouge hands down. Their parking lot situation is a mess; WAY too small, and the entrance is close to another business' entrance which can be confusing. Great service, little loud though. It's a small complaint, but restaurants that let used drink glasses pile up on the table is a little annoying.

We decided to split lots of appetizers since we knew a meal wouldn't do well sitting out in the car, and they honestly have such a great selection of appetizers that I never get past this them to the entrees. We started with the baked Brie and the Thai-ger shrimp. The baked Brie is a staple for me, and the pastry is so light that I could just go for this and eat a whole order by myself. It was our first time getting the shrimp but it definitely won't be the last! They were sweet with the right amount of spice. We followed it up with the crawfish and eggplant (my favorite!) and a crab cake. Hayden was our server and we cannot say enough good things about him. He engaged in conversation and remembered things we mentioned. He was pleasant and always was there before we could think about needing anything. I loved the ambiance for this restaurant! Business casual and upscale vibes but not too fancy. When we were waiting to enter our room, there were several water leaks in the roof that kept dropping on us. It was in several places in the host stand areas. I didn't like this because I kept having to move. When we got to the room, again, it was nice and big. We didn't have a prefixed menu, so we got to order whatever we would have liked from the regular menu. There was such a good variety of options! I got the Brussels sprouts and boudin dip to start. I highly recommend both of these as the portion sizes were huge! The Brussels sprouts were burnt and balsamic like, which is my absolute favorite. The boudin dip came with so many crackers and was delicious. For my meal, I got the chicken paillard. It was good but the portion was very small compared to the appetizers in my opinion. The chicken was very moist and flavorful. It filled me up because I had two appetizers, but I don't think it would be enough for me without having something to go with it.
