This review is overdue, but I attribute it to lingering in the ethers of FLAWLESS preparation, staging, listing, discreet/unobtrusive buyer showings & a seamless sale. Migdalia is so much more than a stellar Real Estate professional. She treated my Mom & our family with respect, attentiveness, provided data/facts & made our comfort AND security her priority. We listed our house in the dead of winter, pre-holiday and had a firm, full-ask offer by mid-January (unheard of in this economy!) From the discreet signage, unobtrusive showing schedule and her generally bright, professional demeanor, she brought the process to life and delivered a perfect sale. Our buyers were lovely and we felt really peaceful about closing the door to the home we have lived in for over 50 years. Without hesitation, I wholeheartedly recommend Migdalia Rivera (our now dear friend) and her pro-style colleagues at Julia B. Fee/Sotheby's Int'l Realty to insure your purchase or sale is handled with class, professionalism and attention to detail. Fun facts: 1. Having multiple friends and family in real estate, I have seen both very professional, knowledgeable and intelligent realtors as well as pushy, and and those I would not want in my circle. While I have much respect for Sothebys and have listed through them internationally, I would not recommend this office. In particular Ms. Holmes. I find it very unprofessional when a realtor tries to push his or her son/ daughter/single friends onto potential buyers who have a certain net worth. Class, ethics, and professionalism still matter to some of us. When you just want to buy a home and not be hassled. Or told "its too bad" you are seeing someone. It makes it very uncomfortable, especially in front of other family members present. This really should not happen. It made for a poor experience and we found it very unprofessional. read more

I would like to share my experience regarding the sale of my house in Rye, where I lived with my husband and four children for 34.5 years. Choosing the right real estate company/broker was very important to me since I have many beautiful memories associated with my house. I interviewed a total of 10 brokers and believed that Rona Calogero was the right choice since she was a Rye Neck mother who has lived in the area for many years. The first concern occurred when we had to set the price for my house. It seemed that she was eager to set a lower price so that she could sell it quickly and get it done with. We finally set the price at $1,595,000 although she kept insisting I set it at $1,275,000. When we received the first offer for $1,300,000, she insisted that we accept it and decided to become the broker for both parties. She seemed more supportive of the buyers, rather than keeping her loyalty and support with us. Rona further shared their personal story and struggles, which we felt was unethical and unprofessional since that is private information. When we declined the offer, she stated that we were unmotivated to sell our house and that we were not going to receive any further offers. The following week, we received an offer which we accepted at $1,475,000. Rona's reaction was joy and misbelief that it could actually sell at that price. When I accepted that, Rona withheld and concealed the fact that that the buyers needed to sell their house in order to purchase ours. This created a delay of approximately 5 months, in addition to the stress, anxiety, and overwhelming times we are all currently experiencing with Covid-19. I was then faced with the difficult situation of having to close on the house we purchased without any funds from my home. In the end, it was resolved with obstacles that could have been avoided. We reached out to the manager, Jane Murray, who sadly did not reply. Because of this experience, I would not recommend Rona Calogero. read more

Saw a house listing and inquired directly to the listing agent, Tanya Makan. Right from the start she wanted to give the "history" of the house, meaning what other people supposedly put in offers for. We felt this was B S and this was her trying to inflate what we should offer if we were interested. We scheduled a viewing on a Saturday and I had to reach out to her to confirm on the Monday of, which I did at 12:30, since we were scheduled for 5pm. She text me back a half hour later to see if we could change our appointment to 5:30pm. We were coming from an hour away, which means going one hour back at rush hour traffic time. If I had not reached out to confirm when was she going to ask to change the time?? You can't go on about being professional and be upset when I question when I was going to be informed. Then you have the nerve to say you don't know where the attitude is coming from. We were being pushed aside for a second viewing! You turned into a rude and condescending thing, but went on about being professional. You should really look into brushing up on your communication and professionalism!! I should preface this review by stating that I have rarely if ever posted a negative review on Yelp but anyone who considers doing business with Sotheby's should be aware of their business practices. This brokerage runs false advertisements regarding property's and does not appropriately address issues when you provide evidence in black and white. I had an agreement on a home that the agent explicitly and grossly misrepresented. Upon inspection, the misrepresentations became clear and the agreement needed to be broken. After complaining to the agent and receiving no response, I escalated to the office manager, who after reviewing the evidence, reimbursed me the $700 inspection fee. However, I received a 1099-MISC this past month stating the $700 was counted as income as non-employee compensation, which is completely wrong and will adversely effect my tax return, resulting in close to $200 of tax liability. I again went back to the brokerage office manager, who claimed there was nothing more they could do. After being ignored for bringing their faulty accounting to light, I spoke to Sotheby's who directed me to their CEO. After a week, he called me back and said they were not going to correct their accounting mistake or properly reimburse the problem this creates and actually recommended that I sue them!!! I was shocked becuase Sotheby's corporate was on my side and said I should receive a satisfactory response from the CEO no less. This is no way to treat potential customers or to run a proper business operation. I can't understand how you can act this way. read more
