I'm grading my review of Kleinman one star, only because a review cannot be posted without a…read moregrading. In truth, he deserves -10 stars, based upon my interaction with him today. I was referred to him by my family dentist for recurring, intense gum pain where my dentist had extracted four teeth a few years ago because my dentist can't figure out the cause of the pain. Kleinman walked into the exam room, with a face that would stop an 8-day clock, didn't even introduce himself, and said in an I-couldn't-care-less tone of voice, OK, so what's the problem? When I told him, he said this isn't my area, you need an oral surgeon (before he had even looked at my gums). Aren't gums the specialty of a periodontist and isn't Kleinman a periodontist??? Then he said my dentist hadn't referred me to him, I had chosen him myself, which is a lie, making him a liar, and I told him so. I had a copy of my dentist's referral in my purse and my dentist had sent him copies of my most recent X-rays of the gum area weeks ago. Then he finally got around to looking at the gum area, pressed down hard on it, I saw stars, he said it's probably a bone infection, tell your dentist to open it up and clean it out. When I told him my dentist had already opened it up and found no cause for the pain, Kleinman said then go see an oral surgeon, I can't help you. An addendum to the review I posted yesterday --- Last night I found a message on our answering machine from Kleinman's office, left yesterday morning, to advise me not to show up for my appointment yesterday afternoon --- because Kleinman had reviewed my records from my dentist and, on the basis of those, he had determined that I need an oral surgeon, not a periodontist. What??? First of all, he had told me that he hadn't received anything from my dentist --- no referral, no X-rays, no records, nothing. He told me that his staff had told him that I had taken it upon myself to find him and make an appointment. So how could he review records that he claimed he hadn't received??? He is such a liar. Secondly, it was in late March when my dentist had sent him my most recent X-rays and I had made the original appointment, April 15, which I subsequently needed to change to April 29 because I was sick on the 15th. The time for him to have reviewed what had been sent to him by my dentist and to have let me know he couldn't help me was long before April 15 had rolled around. Not one month later, on the morning of the appointment, after I had rescheduled it, after I had filled out multiple forms online. Not to mention --- his office had called me a few times prior to April 15 to ask if I could come in ahead of the 15th whenever they had received a cancellation from another patient. And why wasn't I told this at the receptionist desk when I showed up there yesterday??? Instead, she had me fill out yet another form, take a seat, and wait for Kleinman to see me. Now I see why Kleinman was so rude, abrupt and dismissive with me yesterday in the exam room --- because he had already decided he had no intention of helping me and he wanted to get rid of me ASAP.

I selected this practice based upon the reviews and Baltimore Magazine's Best of Doctor's list, but…read moreI should have went elsewhere. I was told that it would cost $10,000 and 7 surgeries over two years to correct my severe gum recession. I reluctantly agreed as this practice does accept my dental insurance, and would defray a large portion of the cost. I followed the very limited recommendations provided by this office post surgery, which consisted of three actual instructions and things like "call our office if you have problems and take the ibuprofen" contained on the remainder of the 2 pages. I was underwhelmed by the written and verbal directions provided by the periodontist and googled other peridontists' recommendations for post-gum grafting. I found them recommending additional post-op suggestions including, but not limited to: not using a straw and how long to stay on which type of foods (with suggestions). I added these limitations to very limited ones provided by the dentist to try to increase my odds of success. At my post-op, I was told that I had lost a large portion of the gum graft. I understand that the procedure sometimes fail. However, the only instructions for ongoing care was given AFTER I said that I was glad to finally be able to brush my teeth. The dentist only then told me to continue not brushing on my right side for another two weeks. I had to call back to ask if I was to continue to chew only on my left side as well. The staff told me that it was in Dr. Kleinman's notes, but he never relayed to me. Communication with Dr. Kleinman was severely lacking! On multiple visits, he would provide different verbal instructions from printed instructions. When confronted, he would swear that he went over all the written directions, which was not the case. Perhaps I'm the anomaly and the other patients experiences are the norm at this practice. But my advice would be get a second opinion before choosing to use this practice for your dental needs.

I am beyond amazed at the positive experience I just had this morning. If you need a dental implant and are afraid of the process, a dental tooth extraction, don't be! I was until this morning. The novocaine injections painless at the skilled hands of Dr. Synder! The tooth extraction, in my case, was removed before I even knew it...within a minute or so, for me, this was nothing short of, MIRACULOUS! Forget the adage, 'no pain no gain'! At F.P.A. for me, it's been "NO PAIN, JUST GREAT PERIODONTAL GAIN!" Thank you so very much for the positive and blessed experience at your office Dr. Synder, assistant, and staff! I am still on my journey at F.P.A. however after today I have a deeper understanding from this mornings experience at how brilliantly skilled, and yet how compassionate and understanding Dr. Synder is. Thank you! There are not enough stars again to provide a proper rating with my experiences at F.P.A with Dr. Synder. Previously: At Frederick Periodontal Associates, I have had the BEST experienced ever for dental and periodontal consultation and care! The office staff is friendly, helpful and exceptionally competent and 'compassionate'! I was treated as if I was a member of thier family, or a close friend. I felt that I actually matter, and was not a number or a dollar sign! I called myself in as an emergency and though I had never been to this practice prior, the practice stayed open to make sure I was seen by the doctor. I also wasn't billed as an emergency patient, that is the definition in action of, The Good Samaritan! Dental, endodontic and periodontal procedures can be quite intimating and downright fearful for many people, myself being one of these people. Upon meeting Dr. Snyder I could feel myself start to relax, which I didn't think I could as I was told by a dentist that I had very real and serious concerns that involves, dental and endodontics. All the procedures I was told I needed performed, NOW, leaving me feeling overwhelmed, the shock hadn't even wore off yet. Having an abscess my check had swelled, I had had a low grade fever and had chills previously as a result of the infection and was concerned for my health. Upon meeting Dr. Snyder, his manner and approach had a positive effect melting away my fears, I was able to start relaxing and could breathe again and felt hopeful! I found out too that I did not need everything performed as I had been previously told I did, and there was NO pressure. Dr. Snyder wrote out a prescription for me too, to address the infection. I am now feeling like me again, healthy and not going to die of sepsis. Upon my next appointment, I had a Maintenance cleaning. The dental hygienist Star was kind, capable and reassuring to me regarding my fear of dental work. I also had the best dental cleaning at F.P.A. I was amazed at how beautiful my teeth looked and felt. This has been the first day that I can honestly say I feel no longer overwhelmed. There are not enough stars that honestly reflect the care they provide. Dr. Snyder, his wife Kathy (who is the practice manager and the brilliant designer of F.P.A's state of the arts practice,) and thier team are the most positive, caring, knowledgeable, kind and gentle health care providers I have ever encountered! PS For those who have experienced L-O-N-G wait time- none so far! Image that! I am still on my journey with periodontal care at F.P.A, and am feeling both blessed & confident that I shall have the best care available

I was referred to Dr. Snyder by my primary dentist for an extraction and an implant. Despite being very anxious Dr. Snyder and his team assured me the procedure would be done with great care. The end result was virtually no pain or discomfort after the procedure with Dr. Snyder following up that evening to assure that all was well. I can't recommend Dr. Snyder and his team highly enough!

Therefore, I tried to share my concerns directly with Dr. Wagner via email, but I received a letter of dismissal without any discussion of my questions and concerns. I would NOT recommend the Wagner Centre based on my implant experience. I was prompted by her office for a comment on social media and felt I needed to warn others about what they might encounter, particularly the cost. Her office staff was friendly and the service was prompt but the rest of my care was concerning. I was so concerned about what happened that I decided to seek care in a different office for my implant. This difficulty has delayed my care and forced me to find another implant provider, but the final cost of my implant will be less than half of what Dr. Wagner was proposing to charge! I observed three things that were particularly concerning. Firstly, Dr. Wagner failed to review my old records and imaging before demanding more imaging. Secondly, she repeated examinations that my primary dentist had just performed without reviewing my records, or discussing it with me, and then charge me for these services. Thirdly, I was frustrated by demands for my credit card number by phone before I could schedule my first appointment. I mentioned my concern about the unsafe nature of this practice and offered to bring my credit card to the office, but was told my appointment would be canceled unless I complied. Giving credit card numbers by phone is a recognized, unsafe, business practice.
