**I have sometime to write this review, I'm currently recovering from wisdom teeth removal. After establishing with a new dental office I felt the need to share my recent experience with Dr. Chua's office. I am 30 years old and have been going to Dr. Chua since 1999 along with my parents+sister. About 5 years ago I went into the dental office with some tooth pain, I had been experiencing it for a while but unfortunately waited too long, Dr. stated I needed a root canal. She performed the root canal and let me know she would place a crown on that tooth the following year because of my insurance deductible. The crown was never placed but I had continued following up for routine cleanings, every time I went in they asked if the root canal tooth bothered me but It didn't so they never mentioned anything about it. Cut to November 2023 I go in for a routine cleaning (Dr. Chua's daughter is now a Dentist as well so I was scheduled with her but didn't know until I was in the dental chair) Dr chua came in to look at X-rays and said she "sees something" and was referring me to a specialist for a CT. I did make the mistake of putting that off again because I was planning a wedding for April 2024 and was NOT made aware there could possibly be an infection. My sister had gone into the office during this time and the office told her that I'm probably due for my cleaning and I should call (I didn't appreciate this because we don't live together and they typically call me for reminders to schedule a cleaning, she's 40.) I admit that was my mistake putting it off but when I finally went in for the CT scan the specialist let me know that I had an infection in the tooth that had previously had a root canal and they had to redo it. I went back for the procedure and they made me sign a waiver that I would contact Dr. Chua immediately for the crown placement. I contacted Dr Chua's office to provide them with my husband's dental insurance and they let me know they would look into cost for crown placement. I tried getting answers in regard to insurance and pricing but it seemed like they never heard back from my insurance for the costs and they didn't let me know that my husbands insurance wasn't showing me on the policy (I found that out later) I was also offered the cash prices for the crown placement. During this time I asked for a new mouth guard because mine was cracked, he quoted me $115 for the mouth guard so I said yes and did the fitting that same day. When I received the EOB it was actually $248 which is a big difference, I feel. I called to get some answers and they stated they would give me a "courtesy discount". I took the discount and paid the $115. A couple days ago I received another bill for $45 because during my cleaning she fitted me for the mouth guard so they charged an office visit on top of my covered routine dental visit. I did ask Dr. Chua for my wisdom teeth to be removed because I felt a lot of pressure at times behind my ear and she stated that because it was already out I didn't need it removed (this was about a year and half ago) The new dentist I went to said "why wouldn't she want to take them out if they're bothering you?" He scheduled me my very first visit for wisdom teeth removal. I had previously asked Dr. Chua if she had any recommendations for cosmetic dental procedures (ex: whiteneing, bonding, veneers, braces) because I am not happy with my smile, she offered me the teeth whitening kit with trays. It did work for sometime but stains resurfaced a few months later. I am now waiting for a pre authorization through my insurance for Invisalign through my new Dentist. I say all this in case there Is someone that has been going to their same dentist for many years and feel they are not being heard when it comes to your medical treatment. As far as staff goes it seems like they always have someone new, I never asked what happened to Mary but she made me feel very comfortable and very warm each time I was there. On the bill attached to photos you can see it says Cigna HMO was billed but they told me they don't accept that and I was NOT showing up active on the policy. My primary ins is Delta Dental and secondary is Cigna HMO. read more

Dr. Chua is a great dentist....if you have good dental coverage. But if you have medical Cal coverage, she is not the one. Refused to do a partial. Said I wasn't covered. Couldn't be bothered to even check with Medical Cal. About the new dental plan which covers partials. I felt like I was treated below standards because of my state funded insurance. I'm at a new dentist office now, and what a surprise. My partial is covered. Now I have something to smile about!!! read more

My children and I have been going to Dr Chua for going on 10 years. My mother has been a patient for 12 years, my mom's friend who recommended Chua has been for 14 years, and the coworker who recommended him for I wouldn't doubt has been a patient longer than that. Dr Chua is definitely in the business of saving teeth and I have had no insurance, medi-cal and private insurance on and off and never has she turned away or refused to provide services. She always finds the options available to me and discloses the worst case scenario if I were to refuse all options available to me so I'm not left freaking out and beating myself up. She is absolutely amazing when it comes to working on younger children even those like my son that are scared at first yet come out laughing at how afraid of nothing they were. The office is clean, records are organized, and the staff is very caring and respectful. She has been and continues to be a blessing in our lives. Prefers everything to be convenient and in the best interest and outcome of the patient. Whether it be saving time and money on your commute my recommending you find somewhere closer, not risking you wasting time in a run around with your insurance, she knows many of the policies very very well and stays current with the changes, or doing unnecessary dental work just to make a profit. The only way you could be disappointed with Dr Chua is if you wanted something your way and she disagreed or found it unethical so suggested otherwise and if your best thinking, self-care, and choices got you where you were in need of her consult, then it might probably be best to follow the suggestions of someone other than yourself. Last year Dr. Chua replaced a crown. She was quick and explained everything to me. She is honest and that is important. I have had so many dentists tell me that I have six cavities (when I dont') or that I need to replace my other crown. It is refreshing to see a dentist who is not trying to upsell more services or a more expensive porcelain crown. I like her serene demeanor. Best Dentist & Staff EVER!!! Had the worst toothache, called the office on a Saturday and they were able to squeeze me in. Growing up the dental experience has left me extremely traumatized, but painfully and expensive but Dr. Juliet Tan Chua office has totally changed my view. Male office manager was very kind and helpful. Maritsa, the dental assistant was so patience, warm and kind, she totally put my ease. Her tenderness can not go without mentioning. I talked to Dr.chua over the phone for a filing service. Something simple. 4 teeth I wanted to get straightened by filing. She was helpful nor did she sound willing to do the service. I told her I lived in ontario. KEEP IN MIND I'm willing to travel for a low price! But she kept telling me I was too far away???? What does that have to do with anything. Very disappointed in the services I received. They tried to charge me quite a bit more $ than I owed them. I had to call my dental insurance co. so they could hear for themselves what I actually owed them. Ridiculous. They charged me for an extra service that I never asked for and didn't even know I received. They tried to charge me $45 for it when it only cost $20. However, they waved it after I made my argument. I requested a cleaning and I could have done a better job myself. Very rushed and sloppy. Know exactly what you actually owe before giving them your money. read more

LIke many others here, I have been going to Dr. Chua for over 20 years. I have also referred all my family to her, and they love her, too. She is patient, quiet, low-key, reassuring, and gentle. She doesn't "sell" you work, she patiently explains what needs to be done - or doesn't need to be done. She works with you on your insurance (doing the critical things first and helping you to plan out each year's total expenses), never rushes, is always soft-spoken and gentle.
