Excellent food. Friendly service. If they have them, you must, AND I MEAN, MUST, try their Osso Bucco empanadas

I love this place. I tried it for the first time a month-ish ago, and I've been back 10x, with the 11th being in about an hour when I have my lunch break . Super affordable, incredible customer service, great energy, and sweet attitude from the employees. Julio is almost always there, and he loves to make the empanadas fresh even when he has some in the case that have already been made. Super friendly, funny, happy dude. Dining in is a super chill experience. Order at the counter and wait for them to tell you it's ready (2-5mins). They always have some fun music lightly playing on the speakers too. Oh, we also love their garlic aioli and salsa. Yum, yum, yum!!! As for empanadas, we've had their: Jalapeño Steak (8/10) Classic Beef (8/10) Jamaican Beef (8.510) Chorizo (9/10) Chicken & Cheese (9.5/10) Sausage & Peppers (10/10) Chicken (11/10 I love you Julio's chicken empanada) I'll revisit this review to add more ratings as I try more. There is something for everyone at Julio's. Come for the empanadas but stay for everything else. You feel like you're part of the family and Julio really takes care of his customers. Delicious empanadas and friendly staff. The Jamaican beef was over the top good but the beef snd chicken were awesome too.

I greatly enjoyed the empanadas and potato balls! The deviled crab was a huge surprise and was easily the best filling. All of them had tasty, crispy breading and came with some nice salsa to cut the greasiness. It's great that you can grab each for less than $10. Passing through Gulfport, we saw Julio's Empanadas. We figured we would stop by on the way out. Julio's is conveniently located in a corner spot in what use to be a Gas Station. They have gas station stall parking so your car is in the shade. Going inside, you will see a handful of tables and the area where they have their food which is a hot plate for Puerto Rican entrees, & an area for empanadas. At the time they didn't have too many options of empanadas, but they said if we wanted something that wasn't available, they could make it for us. We picked out two empanadas to share them - Ropa Vieja and Flank Steak & Sweet Plantain. The Ropa Vieja was the better of the two. We did think the size of the empanadas were pretty small for the price. The empanada was tasty in that it was not greasy from being fried and it tasted baked even though it was fried bc they said they change their oil every two days. Walked in as soon as they opened! The reviews were amazing and they're legit. If you're an empanada fan this is the place to go. I got the traditional beef empanadas and the flank steak and plantain empanadas. Both were great! Very flavorful on the inside. Outside was nice a crispy. Had great flake to it without being hard and the beef was cooked to a very tender touch. The restaurant feels almsot like a diner. The staff are helpful and nice. After driving past here almost everyday, I finally decided to try them out and I am glad I did. The lunch bowl was such a good portion for only $10 (i got the beans in the side). The chicken had great flavor. They have an assortment of unique empanada flavors. I tried the beef & steak/plantains. Both were great and full of meat. Julio's special sauce that comes with them is great, perfect amount of spice and citrus. Staff was great. Definitely will return. read more

Man, this place is such a blessing to have in the Gulfport's community and broader area. We waited so long for this spot to open, and I remember when it was just the sign in the lot of the old gas station. I'm happy for this place and what it has evolved into. Every time you come in Julio is there to greet you and I'm sorry you just don't see that in most eatery businesses. He's extremely personable and always looks out for the kids. It's a straight to the point type of place. All the food is in front of you and there's a few places to sit inside. Parking is sparse but you find a way. The lunch bowls are great and you get alot of food. Now let's talk about the food you're guaranteed to have a variety of empanadas in different feelings. My favorite is the Jamaican one, but I always get a chicken and a beef to kinda round it out if they are available. I enjoy the empanadas is just one of my favorite snacks and he's open a little bit later so you can grab one if you're late at the office. With me, it's all about how you're treated because if you treat it with love that means that the people that are making it have love in it and it makes it taste better. I usually grab 2 or 3 empanadas and the Jamaican ones are my favorite. 4 out the door cost me like 22$. Worth it. Also the frozen drinks. A yellow and red. Bomb. Not fancy, but the best empanadas I've ever had. Great fillings and they come in a big size. No skimping. Get the meal which comes with a big serving of beans and rice and a special sauce added. I really wanted to love this place. We've heard great things and they are working hard. The empanadas wrappers are great. But everything is much too salty. We sent back the chicken because it was also very overcooked. The wings were better. The rice and beans were very good if you don't d being overloaded with salt. Sausage & peppers was very flavorful with just enough spice. The dough is tender & tasty. I haven't tried the others yet, but Osso Buco is one of my fave dishes. This restaurant is in an abandoned gas station, so not at all fancy, but clean with ample seating. They have full dinners, too. Have been excited about trying this place since the signs went up a while back. Ordered 2 empanadas and a side of the roasted pork. Chorizo empanada was good but the Jalapeño Steak empanada was sublime! Tender steak and great seasoning left me craving for more. Really large empanadas with a crispy shell. Flakey crust, delicious everything. Good drink selection. Salsa is excellent. Quick and friendly service. Clean kitchen and dining area. Parking lot is weird, maybe one day they'll be established enough to be able to remove the old gas station bits. Having an empanada store open in the area is a dream come true! Not to mention an amazing empanada store!!!! The person that took my order was very friendly and was very patient concerning the questions I was asking. There was some seating, but not a lot. So if you are dining in, just be aware of that fact. The restaurant is actually in an old gas station, so the parking is kinda wonky. Oh also, the restaurant is super clean! The food was sooooo delicious! We had several different empanadas between us and each one was sooooo yummy! The only negative was that they forgot to put one of the empanadas that I paid for into my to go bag. I tried calling to see what could be done, but no one picked up and it rang for quite a while. Overall, even with the missing empanada, I would happily return to this place any day!!!! read more

Tried this place for lunch. Crispy & tasty empanadas. Friendly staff. Cute renovation of what had been a gas station. The only negative, and this is true for me in many restaurants, was the loud music. Not sure why restaurants play their music so loudly that you have to shout to be heard by your dining companions.
