We just used New York Nomads to move from State College PA to Washington Heights on a Monday in July. They were fantastic. We will absolutely use them again, and we will be recommending them to everyone we know. Olga was super communicative, and she made the process so smooth and stress-free. She was always extremely responsive. Every question we asked was answered quickly and every email we received felt very reassuring. We haven't moved in a while and we had a lot of worries about moving to NY and hiring movers. But we could tell how competent they were even over email. For example, we realized the night before the move that we have a sunken in living room we did not mention before. We thought surely that will be an extra charge (and other movers might be very upset with us for not mentioning it!). We frantically emailed that they may want to bring a ramp or something. Olga responded, that is no problem. A lot of other companies also wanted an inventory of everything ahead of time, which we definitely didn't have. Olga said we could guesstimate and update her if anything changed. This was a lifesaver. When we updated along the way, she never seemed concerned that what we were adding was too much. We have friends who have used other moving companies, and they told us actual horror stories (e.g., movers not showing up, a million extra charges, needing every box to be accounted for before the move, things breaking, etc.). So when we were looking for movers, we were trying to avoid all of that. We decided to go with NY nomads because they were a small family business. Many of the big companies seem to be hit or miss - some people have okay experiences and some have really bad ones. There's a reason NY nomads have so many great reviews. They're kind, consistent, and professional. Djordje was friendly, great to talk to, and clearly very knowledgeable about moving and NYC. I was impressed with how quickly and efficiently they moved everything into the truck, and I was even more impressed with how they were able to park the truck right in front of our apartment. Excellent experience overall. Movers were on time, worked a good pace without rushing too fast, and were easy to work with.

At the last minute on a Friday we determined that moving our daughter from her 2 story walk-up to a 5-story walk-up the next day was not going to be physically possible for our meager crew, so we decided to look into movers. We knew it was last minute and unlikely but figured we would reach out to a few to see if they could accommodate us. Olga replied very quickly and was incredibly pleasant to work with and very responsive to every email exchange. They happened to have an opening and were quite reasonably priced. The crew initially scheduled us for 3 pm move out, on Saturday, but finished their prior job early so Olga reached out to see if we were ready for them at 1 instead, which was great! The crew arrived punctually at 1, were like whirling dervishes wrapping and hauling everything out in about an hour. It was pretty much the same at the new apartment, despite the 5 flights of stairs they had to haul everything up. Super professional, courteous and responsible. NY Nomads is really good for a small move because, unlike other companies, they don't have a 3-hour minimum. The movers were pleasant and professional, but they needed help with furniture disassembly, and their vehicle was too small for the number of workers, which ultimately caused a delay in their arrival at the destination. We recently just made the move from Long Island city to NJ and hired New York Nomads to handle our move. Obviously the moving process is stressful for a number of reasons, but NY Nomads did such an incredible job of alleviating the stress. Trying to filter through innumerable moving companies in NYC with so many mixed reviews, NY Nomads was recommended by a friend. We could not have been more grateful or pleased with our experience. Even before moving day, in communicating about our needs and finalizing a quote, Nem was extremely pleasant, easy, and understanding to work with. This was such a difference from trying to coordinate with so many other companies who would overcharge, haggle on the smallest of items/minute changes, and added more stress to this whole moving process which is on its own is so stressful! On moving day, the movers arrived promptly and observed our request that they wear masks as my wife is expecting (and wasn't yet vaccinated). I cannot say enough wonderful things about this moving company! They are a dream, honestly the best you could ever imagine and then some. Like, you cannot believe any company could be this kind, courteous and accommodating. I recently moved with a roommate from Brooklyn to the UWS and we had pretty much a full apartment to move - living room, bedroom and kitchen furniture, plus a good amount of boxes. We were also in a time crunch since our ex-landlord needed us done in about 2 hours. NY Nomads had us out of the apt in under that amount of time, and the move went as smoothly as I could imagine. We also had some difficulty bringing the couch into the new space (cursed narrow NYC hallways!) and they handled that problem incredibly well, with total calm and confidence (and positivity, all of which were greatly appreciated on a stressful moving day). No walls were scratched and everything was handled with supreme care. We also had a very energetic golden retriever present, and they not only not minded but played with him, adding to the general pleasant atmosphere of the move. Their customer service is next level. I was very neurotic and nervous about the move, particularly the cost, and NY Nomads handled me with total patience and good humor!! Their email response time was incredibly quick and attentive, I know bc I sent them about a dozen emails. Their pricing was very fair and transparent. They even offered a discount bc I had moved a load of boxes on my own ahead of time, and kept good on that initial offer despite all the hiccups and extra work during the move (like the couch, etc.). All correspondence with Olga prior to the move was lighting quick. Any questions leading up to moving day were addressed in a timely fashion. Top shelf customer service! My recommendation is to provide as much detail regarding the furniture, appliances & number of boxes you have. This will allow the movers to properly prepare & give you a better idea of costs. We didn't have many large pieces of furniture so this may have been an easier move overall. A team of 3 arrived early in Hoboken NJ prior to a 9am go time. Packed up their truck, drove to the LES and were done unloading everything before 1130am. What the?!  From what I've witnessed & experienced from past move ins/outs, some can take a lot longer than expected if you don't do some legwork prior. There's a saying, many hands make light work. What an incredible team! Thank you to everyone who shared their previous reviews and helped me find these guys. To start, organizing the move was easy and simple. No hidden costs, everything clearly explained before I made the decision. On the day, they turned up smiling and laughing even after the stairs to my 5th floor walk up! They helped me take out my AC unit and offered to drop of my pile of things set aside for charity donation. Before we set off for the new place the team brought up google maps and we looked at the best route to take due to traffic, when we got here the rest of the move was completed quickly. It was only at the end that I realized the team were using the stopwatch on the phone to make sure they measured the time accurately, that level of transparency and honestly was amazing to me. They were helpful and communicative in the days leading up to my move; showed up promptly on the day of and made quick work of packing up all my things and then unloading them in my new (4th floor walk up!) apartment. I believe the owner leads the move himself (I may be wrong), but this may explain why these guys are SO competent, gentle, polite, and effective. From what I can tell, it is not subcontracted like many other moving companies are. Starting from the quote process, Olga was super responsive and flexible in timing. Wow, New York Nomads are fantastic! I had a somewhat complicated (at least it seemed to me--not to them!)1 bedroom move from Philadelphia to Manhattan that required my stuff to be stored for about a week and a half and they made the move seamless and simple. From the time I began communicating with with Djordje to request a quote all the way through him following up with me to make sure everything was satisfactory with my move afterwards he was very responsive, friendly, and helpful. They were more affordable and very straightforward with their quote with the all-inclusive price and no hidden charges, rather than many of the other companies I got quotes from that were going to nickle and dime me for every piece of moving pad, tape, tolls etc. The day prior to the moves, Olga called to confirm my moves which gave me peace of mind. They arrived right on time and contacted me prior to let me know where they were and their ETA. The two movers were super friendly, worked fast and efficiently, but took time to protect and secure all of my items. They moved me out of my apartment in Philadelphia in just less than 2 hours and moved my stuff and stored it in New York until my apartment there was ready for me to move-in. I was a little nervous about my stuff being out of my sight and stored somewhere, but there was absolutely no need for my nervousness after moving with them! When I was ready to move in about a week and a half later, Olga once again called to confirm my move and let me know when they were going to arrive. Like clockwork, they called me to let me know where they were and exactly what time they would be here and they showed up again with all of my stuff completely secured and protected and moved it promptly into my apartment in New York. They were just as friendly, courteous, and efficient as they were the first time. All of my stuff was in the the same condition it was when it left Philadelphia, nothing broken, scratched, or missing! So so great! For a very last minute move, easily and quickly got a quote. They were very responsive setting up the move, very professional getting paper work together and flexible. I HATE moving especially in nyc because I, like most NYers, can afford piles of stuff but not afford to NOT live in a walk up. Lots of stuff and lots of stairs can make a miserable living situation look pretty good most times.
