Now after attending, I can say that this spot really exceeded expectations. One of the best things about this spot was having a large variety of different areas for guests to spread out and socialize. This led to a much more relaxed atmosphere for talking than most weddings that I've attended (I'm not huge into dancing). Even throughout the afternoon and evening, it was very nice to be able to enjoy appetizers on the beautiful rooftop deck, enjoy music and dancing on the dance floor, while still being able to carry on a conversation in the large main dining room -- or head downstairs to lounge around to avoid the crowds and noise. As I attended for a family wedding, I was also able to utilize the generously sized suites that had more than enough room for everyone to bring items they needed and have space to get ready for the event. The Haight has done the look of a rustic venue better than most places that I've seen. One thing that I really appreciated is that the look is rustic, but the facilities themselves are in great shape and modern. There were also plenty of great photo spots all around the venue that were lit nicely and contributed to guests having plenty of photo opportunities that they could create on their own. For those who were looking to rest, I did enjoy having sofas and softer cushioned chairs available to relax in. Overall, excellent venue that I would love to attend another wedding in the future. It's located right in downtown Algonquin and it's "house" so it adds to the charm. There are many different parties to choose from, but each one includes dress-up and a tea party. You can add makeup and hair for additional cost and each party has varying add-ons so the cost will vary, but the cost is very reasonable. This is not a place where parents stay for the event as the place cannot accommodate that many people (I def did not mind that aspect), so be aware of that. I brought my camera and told the parents I would take lots of pics and for them to provide me their email addresses so that I could forward them once uploaded. Once the girls arrive, they go upstairs to where there are racks of clothes, shoes, and many accessories to choose from with all sizes. After the girls have made their final selections, they take a picture then head to their tea party room. There, they have princess tea (which is sprite dyed pink I believe), cookies, marshmallows, cracker/pretzel mix, and cupcakes. They sing Happy Birthday there as well. Jenny was able to take that unorganized, jumbled mess of a phone call and spit out a highly detailed, actionable, and prioritised to-do list that broke down not only what I had to do, my husband had to do, but she took on things that MY MOM was supposed to do. I cannot tell you how much this was appreciated - it makes me teary eyed just thinking about her kindness and how she went above and beyond to ensure our wedding day was a spot of brightness and hope amongst the dark weeks leading up to it. We were planning our wedding reception at our home and Gala was to tent our back yard and rent us all the supplies necessary for the reception (tables, chairs, heaters etc). We chose this company after interviewing several others companies because of their professionalism. The owner and his wife personally came to our house to survey our back yard, take measurements and talk about options. Our biggest concern was the weather. 120 people were going to be attending a tented wedding reception and we were concerned about mid-October weather in Chicago.. We were assured by the owner of the company, Eric Rupe, that "we will keep an eye on the weather and if rain is in the forecast we'll set up early". 2 days before our wedding, Gala Events arrived at our home in the pouring rain to set up. His crew started in the yard, tore the grass up to mud, then worked their way onto the patio to set up more tents, tracking the mud from the yard onto the concrete patio. In a pinch to finalize wedding plans and with less than 48 hours before the event, my wife and I had to leave our home to run some errands leaving Gala personnel to finish the setup. When we returned, Gala Events had set up their old, weathered tents. Additionally, they plugged in all of the electricity, including 12 can lights and two 40,000 BTU heaters, to an outdoor electric receptacle blowing a fuse within the first 30 seconds, leaving me with no electricity and a tented mud bog. After a couple of frantic calls to Gala Events, two nice young men showed up with a generator on Friday, less than 24 hours prior to my wedding and showed me how to get the heaters running. I spent the next 6 hours before my rehearsal dinner on my hands and knees trying to get the mud off my patio and drying the tent covered mud bog. Finally at 10 pm after my rehearsal dinner I decided enough was enough and rushed to Menard's for plywood and AstroTurf carpeting to cover the slop that was once my yard. $500 later and by midnight the night before my wedding, we were ready. In addition to the aggravation, Gala Events charged me $250 for lights I didn't use or need. Their trucked leaked power-steering fluid all over my concrete driveway not once but twice However, I must say, the young men who came out to set up the tents were very nice. Don't let them fool you. Customer service takes a back seat to money with this company.

I called and was told someone would get back to me...didn't happen. I called Tuesday morning and I was assured that they would be pick up that day...didn't happen. I called that evening and was told someone would get back to me....didn't happen. I returned home Wednesday evening and they were STILL there. I called and pressed 9 to leave an emergency message. I told them that I wanted some money returned to me for a "storage fee". The items were finally picked up and no one contacted me regarding any refunds due to my inconvenience or time wasted trying to get them to pick up their own items.
