Jun's is a lovely little place to get your sushi fix. It can be a tad pricey depending on what you get but the quality of the food is worth it. Having eaten here many times I can honestly say the food has never disappointed. The staff is friendly and approachable which adds to the cozy atmosphere. We all had the bento boxes at $14 each which I think is a little high, however the food was good. My daughter dropped her smoked salmon on the ground and the owner got her a new piece. Ate here twice, looking for a hidden gem and was left rather unimpressed both times. Only slightly better than Muto, which is not saying much. I think these places are trying to pass off crap as quality to people who might not know what quality sushi is supposed to be. You just need to look at the cut and color of the fish in those pictures. Also, what is with the runny pink sauce on the rolls? Try putting less into marketing and more into the ingredients unless it is only about the profit margin. read more

How does a bento box take over an hour to make? Go to Jun's and see for yourself. The place was less than half full when we walked in and we were given no warning by the waitress. We watched two or three to go orders go out the door. The one cook in the restaurant appeared to start on our meal after 45 minutes or so. The food was at best ok. My most favorite sushi place in Bellingham! The rolls are fantastic, service isn't too fast but isn't too slow. They only have one man on the sushi bar so it may take a bit of time to get your food but it tastes amazing once you receive it! I'm extremely picky about miso soup but there's is definitely the best in town! And if you eat in the building, chances are they will refill your bowl, yum! Some of the best rolls are the white ice roll and red dragon roll. And if you are in the mood for spicy, try the stuffed jalapeño tempura! read more

I've never seen a game, but I loved the Seahawks roll! Sushi is fresh, rice is perfectly cooked, veggie tempura is perfectly delicate with crisp, colorful veggies inside. Prices are reasonable and the bento boxes are filling. While I generally dislike t.v. in my restaurants - especially a restaurant this tiny - we did find the odd Korean show entertaining. Friendly staff and comfortable ambiance have made this our favorite sushi place in town. read more

Jun Sushi *was* our go-to sushi place in Bellingham. We love the prices, atmosphere and freshness. Jun is a reasonably new establishment, but since we haven't been happy with the older sushi choices of Bellingham we have visited here a lot. The food is just plain amazing. The ingredients are always so fresh, the presentation pleasant, and the flavors great. The menu is not huge, but it doesn't need to be when the food tastes this good. We also love their basic sushi rolls that they offer for VERY good prices. The atmosphere is great too. A pleasant downtown location with outdoor seating and a modern interior. However, out last experience could possibly be our last. Overall the service has been good, but one evening we went there with a friend that was visiting out of town. We ordered quite a bit of food. Before the rest of the food came out the waitress brought us a small seaweed salad which we had not ordered. Because of the large quantity of food we were getting we assumed it was on the house, which we have had sushi places do many times before. So we started eating some of it. But when the waitress brought out the food we did order, she also brought out more stuff we did not order. We pointed that out to her at which point she realized she had given us the seaweed salad earlier in error. We apologized profusely, saying we assumed it was on the house. Normally the server might say "no its my mistake, don't worry." However, our waitress scolded us on how we should have said something and they were shouldn't have eaten it. She was very upset, grabbed the dish and started bringing it to the table it was supposed to be for, even after we had eaten half of it. She realized she couldn't do that and angrily came back over and set it on our table before storming away. She never said another word to us for the rest of the evening, even when we offered to pay for it. We were afraid to touch any of our other food without her permission. It completely ruined the evening and possibly ruined our favorite sushi place for us. It will be a while before we can return without feeling self-conscience. read more

This place just opened about a week ago, and when we went they didn't have everything on their menu just yet, but it was great. I got a very simple sushi dish and some green tea. It came with a small cabbage salad. We opted to sit outside, but they have a bit of seating inside. Their interior is adorable, and very inviting (the warm day was just perfect for outdoor dining that day though:) I loved how cheap my meal was--under $10 for everything and the service was good. I think they will do very well here, and I myself am excited to have this new sushi place nearby! read more

My friends took me here for dinner on my last day visiting the area, and we were all very happy with our meal. We ordered the Seahawks roll, the white dragon roll, the rainbow roll, the spider roll, and the small sashimi combo, and every one was delicious. The portions were large and priced fairly. First visit here. Small, cozy, functional place. Proprietors are very friendly and hard-working. They seem genuinely interested in their customers. I suggest going when not too busy, as the sushi-chef takes care with his orders, and it can be a bit of a wait after your order is taken. This is only a bother if you are the impatient type. Relax with an appetizer and adult beverage. I worked on a bowl of traditional kimchi while awaiting my order, and it was quite good. As in many of the non-traditional contemporary sushi restaurants, "special rolls" are big here, and I am not a fan of toppings and sauces on my sushi. As another reviewer noted, a majority of their rolls are based on the ubiquitous artificial crab-based California roll. The spicy tuna roll that I had was generous in size and well constructed, but had the typical homogenized pulverized tuna/mayo/siracha filling of which I am not too fond. The nigiri selections, however, were quite fresh and had a generous slice of fish atop fairly decently prepared rice. Prices were middle of the road, and provided a decent value. All-in-all, an enjoyable experience in a town with typically mediocre sushi restaurants, and I will be back. read more

Memorial Day Lunch Nightmare!!! I knew things were going to be bad when I saw used plates and cups left on tables without being bused the whole time we were there! There was just 1 waitress so service was non existent. She couldn't multi-task and handle a couple tables at the same time. We waited for 1 hour for the food and they got our orders wrong. We had to ask for our drinks several times. Food came one at a time, not all together so some of us finished eating while others haven't started yet. Food quality was okay. If you're not picky with a little Korean tastes with your Japanese food, then it'll be acceptable. Note, they used gyoza (soy/vinegar) sauce for their tempura. I really wanted to leave before the food arrived (1 hour later) but the Mrs. was too nice and wanted to give them a chance. They did give us a free tempura roll for waiting too long but it was too late. We didn't want it but it's was a nice gesture. Never coming back!!! Should have trusted my gut when I saw all those dirty used plates on the tables!!! read more

Nice atmosphere. I was actually very excited to try this restaurant as I heard good things about it. I came with two of my friends. The owner (I'd assume?) judged my two friends for the amount of food they were ordering. The owner said that it was a lot of food and my friend said that she loved sushi and was hungry. The owner looked her up and down and said "I can see that". I was disgusted. We were so uncomfortable staying in that restaurant that we changed our order to make it to-go. I was so impressed by my first trip to Jun Sushi and Bento yesterday. We both got the bento box, I ordered Don Katsu (delicious pork, breaded and fried with a yummy sauce) and my friend got the Nigiri Sushi bento. They came with miso, rice, salad, a wide variety of perfectly cooked tempura vegetables and 4 pieces of California Roll for only $12.95. We also had an order of Unagi Nigiri for dessert and were given a complimentary tamago. The service was great, the Sushi Chef spent some time talking to us and he was very pleasant. He has been a sushi chef at Karu Karu the past four years and this is his first time being a business owner. The menu is simple but offers some things I don't see at other place in town. The prices are very reasonable and the dining room is very clean. The outdoor seating is quite nice but we wanted Sake and they don't have a license for drinking outside yet so we sat inside, both spots are comfortable. I can't wait to go back!! We always do sushi to celebrate various events & occasions, and for my birthday this year we decided to give this new place in Bellingham a try. We were not disappointed. Everything was super fresh and served with graciousness. The Sushi Chef brought us a complimentary roll just for coming in. At the end of our meal he brought us complimentary tea as well. The only thing I was not impressed with was the atmosphere. It was dominated by a television which was on the entire time. They'd be better off going for a more intimate feel. Phenomenal. I am picky about sushi and this place is amazing. We had four rolls and every single one was delicious. The only hitch was that you can't have alcohol in the outside seating area, hopefully that will change, but it's by no means a deal breaker and probably is because they just opened. Jun Sushi is a good Japanese restaurant. The menu is simple and easy to pick from. The food is nicely presented. Nothing is expensive: Bento boxes are $14. Rolls are $11-$13. It's the perfect place for the munchies - as I saw a student roll in order some rolls and roll out. :-) The place seats about 20 people max, so the service is attentive and close by. The grill chef stands immediately behind the sushi chef, so it looks elegantly choreographed when they get going on orders. read more

Sushi is really basic, I'm used to more variety and it being cheaper. Restaurant was tiny, the owners are really nice and funny.

Just a heads up, they're only open until 2:30 for lunch and reopen at 4:00 for dinner. But totally worth it!!!
