Tonight I Had my sister pick up our order that I placed over the phone for 3 tonkatsu ramens (2 black garlic). Been our favorite dish there for a long time and always loved it. After she got home with the order we realized that there was absolutely no chasu (pork) in any of our 3 dishes. I called the store, and asked them about it and they offered an 8$ refund or extras for next time we came in. We live 30 minutes away. Not exactly like we could easily come back and get the pork or a re-fire of the dish, but that wasn't even offered to us. In their website, they charge 3.5$ for extra chasu. So they didn't even offer us the amount they charge for the protein. After discussing this I called them back to try and explain the frustration we had with this and was entirely dismissed by their manager. When I told her they charge 3.5$ for additional pork she didn't even know the cost, and then offered to give me 11$ refund, because I had received 55$/65$ of food I ordered. I didn't though. I ordered a pork ramen, and didn't receive the primary part of that order. If I wanted a vegetable option I would have picked that. She insisted that there wasn't any other option. Food is good, but if they make it wrong it's not their problem. Terrible customer service. Don't go here.

Meals are anywhere from $12-20 per person but you'll be able to share a plate or have left overs! The menus are hand written with cute drawings, the dining room is filled with bamboo and cherry blossoms; perfect for a date night! While the dining room itself is rarely packed, there can be occasional longer wait times as all the food is cooked upon ordering. Ginger Boat is my new go-to place and I highly recommend it!

While I prefer Ginger Boat for the most tasty Teriyaki, if I'm hungry and driving down Holly street...I'm more likely as not stopping at Hana. There is a good reason for that...it's consistently delicious, consistently big in portions, consistently the best damn salad dressing... consistently tasty...it's reliable and filling. What's not to like? And while the interior and exterior have changed over the years...have to admit, the new signage is doing them a disservice since while the old sign was old-fashioned, you could see it from three blocks away...and the prices have got far more expensive, it's still a go to place that for most people will deliver several meals worth of food. Hang out waiting for your food and you'll hear many many orders for the spicy version...which is recommended. Not too spicy, just right. I admit to mostly ordering the plain old #1 Teriyaki chicken or Beef and Chicken. Long story short, it's hard to go wrong.

The portion sizes are big and you get a lot for what you pay for. We have only ever done take out but our food is always hot and fresh. They have a great location being right by the water! Our food is always ready when they say it will be ready. The steak and chicken are tender and the Teriyaki sauce is so good. We love this place and we'll definitely keep coming back.
