    Roast beef.

We had the lunch special. The Roast Beef. I had green beans, creamed potatoes and fried okra to go with mine. The Roast beef was tender and delicious. The green beans were amazing with onions and bacon in them. It was an amazing lunch for only $8.15. I highly recommend this place.

If you are ever through Pocahontas, AR, be sure to stop by this little "Dive" restaurant. It's Divey in all the right ways. Gravel parking lot? Check! Experienced waitresses? Check! Down home food? Check! Check! I stopped in on a Saturday around 2:00, running a little late for breakfast. We were on the bike so we were ready for a cool place to land. Our waitress was on a break outside but when she saw us, she darted back in quickly to greet us and take our drink orders. The menu is what you would expect, fried Catfish, Patty Melt, fries and such. My wife ordered the Catfish and hush-puppies, I ordered the Patty Melt and fried mushrooms. (they subbed mushrooms for fries). I thought that was cool. We struck up a conversation with a patron about directions and soon our steaming hot plates had arrived. I realize that this is not a fine dining restaurant but how many times do all of the items that you order meet and or exceed expectations? The Catfish was perfectly fried, not too much, not soggy, and not too salty! This is missed by so many places. The hush-puppies were rescued from the oil just in time to enjoy them in all of their glory... They were not just corn meal, they were fluffy and very tasty. Hush-puppies are usually a complete non event for me but these were memorable. My Patty Melt? Well how good can it be? It actually tasted like grilled beef. The bread was not used as a sponge to soak up grease from the burger. They must have actually patted the excess grease from the burger and rested it on the lightly buttered toast with a generous helping of cheese. Tasty combination of flavors, as it should be. The fried mushrooms were skillfully fried, drained and presented in a basket. The mushrooms on the bottom were crisp, just like the ones on top! We were getting ready to ride away when the cook, ( a young man in his 30's maybe) stepped outside to ask us how the food was.. We told him our review and he was very genuinely touched! He said in all the time he had been at the restaurant, he had never seen anyone photograph his food. He was a little shy and I could tell he was a little overwhelmed with the compliment. They deserve a chance to serve you on your next trip! BTW we stopped there again on our way back on Monday. Had a great Chef's Salad. Same service, parking lot packed and will always be a favorite Dive of mine..

Junction 166 opens @ 5am & is one of the few independent restaurants that has made it in this area. It's a big space, but if the parking lot is full, you might have to wait a few. Waitresses hustle like in the ole Flo's sitcom. Kitchen puts out plate after plate after plate. Don't recall ever seeing one sent back. Virtually all home cooking dishes are on the menu. Ham Steak breakfast & Fried Chicken lunch are my faves. Everything I've eaten has been delicious. O those homemade pies / cobblers / cheesecakes!!! Get in the door by 1:59 pm & they'll serve you whatever's left!!!

And the coffee is also roasted locally. So yeah, this was a pretty neat stop in very rural Missouri as we're headed across on US-60 from the one side to the next. After seated, we took a look at the menu. Options for both of us were easy. Mrs. K. is a connoisseur of French Toast. As she doesn't eat meat, this is her usual "go to" for breakfast so that was her easy choice at The Ranch House this morning. Me, I'm on keto so I was able to have their three-egg omelet with all the veggies plus added steak sausage. Coffee arrived first and it was excellent. Just a simple drop, it was rich and hot and perfection. A little bit later, breakfast arrived. I very much enjoyed the omelet as it was tasty. I could really taste the eggs in here today. Yum! Mrs. K. said "This is the best French Toast that I have ever had" and that's really saying something as she's enjoyed dozens if not a couple hundred portions across my Yelp career. Wow. Breakfast was around $40 with tip. And afterward, we wandered around the small town of Van Buren for a bit. A truly lovely stop. [Review 669 of 2026 - 523 in Missouri - 25850 overall]

It was as busy as any big city place like this but the interior let me know this place was special. Lots of old-timey signs and memorabilia gave it an authentic rural atmosphere. Our server, Bobby, was a terrific guy, very attentive and conversational. His service was a 10. I ordered the Veggie Omelette. It was cooked "wet", just the way I like it. There were a lot of veggies and it was tasty. The hash brown potatoes were thick, very crispy on the outside, with a soft, almost mashed potato texture on the inside. The coffee refills were frequent and welcomed. Even the owner stopped by with a refill. He was a busy as any of the servers, not just standing around. It was an overall delightful experience. If I lived closer, this would be my regular place. Hope to visit again.

Staff was really friendly helpful and the place was clean. My only down concern was the charge of $9.25 for my fries. Didn't have time to take the ticket back to ask about because they close at 2. We r here for a couple of days for business and really want to try their breakfast but not sure we'll have time before leaving town. Update. Was able to go back for breakfast and they fixed the situation very apologetically two thumbs up for this place.

There is not only nothing wrong with that, it is sometimes exactly what you need. Exotic flavor combinations and ingredients that aren't in your regular shopping cart is not what you want. A simple sandwich, BLT for her, Club for me, with crinkle cut fries gets the job done sometimes. It satisfies that 5th grader that lurks inside of all of us no matter how old we are. I also think the older we get, the more satisfied we are with safe, neutral flavors. A pinch of salt, the indication of a whisper of pepper, a patina of mayo. We were in town for my wife to visit a quilting cornerstone spot for her. We are retired now, and closer than we had been over in MD, so we hopped in the car and made a 3 day odessy, good time had by all. Our visit got off to a little of a rough start, [at the time an unexplained delay after tea delivery - the other staff could have taken the initiative of coming to take our order, but I don't know the internal dynamics here] however the young lady bounced back well, and there are no complaints on actual service or the food. I suspect it is quite popular with the locals, I see a lot of lofty praise in the reviews, and our hotel clerk recommended we try it.

The okra was pretty good, however the hamburger was absolutely inedible. Dry and flavorless! I took one bite and couldn't believe how bad it was! Worst of all, when I complained the girl said "Oh, sorry about that." and walked away. I didn't want to make a scene, since I was with new friends. Needless to say, I will not be going back.
