Good place to eat. Good menu. Friendly staff. Food is delivered in a timely manner. Dined here with a few times with a few groups and we all get our orders the way we like it. The food was delicious! We had a huge chef salad, the Navajo burger and the beef stew. You were swamped but the busser was very attentive while our server had a whole dining room to service. I'm glad you close early on Saturday so your staff can enjoy the weekend with their family. I had the veggie omelette and Navajo fry bread for breakfast, and given that the small town of Chinle is hundreds of miles from any sizeable city or arable farmland (Chinle is in the middle of the desert), I was pleasantly surprised by the taste. The food menu had variety, which is amazing. However, I think if they can't make all the meals in a timely matter, it would be best to eliminate it from the menu. The meals that were delivered to us, in a timely matter were delicious. However, my mother's meal didn't not come out at all, so I split my meal with her. The waitress that took care of us, offered her another option but by then it was time for us to get back on the road. They added gratuity to our ticket, and we asked for that to be removed as one person from our party didn't get served. We also asked to speak with the manager and we were told they couldn't give out that information. Needless to say this is our first and last time visiting this resturant. read more

Breakfast here was outstanding! I got the White House overlook (a breakfast burrito on fry bread topped with sausage gravy) and it's something I'll crave for a long time. The service here is excellent and it's a very nice, clean restaurant. read more

Granted, this is probably the best sit-down place in town, but their food just isn't that good. Service for dinner was friendly. There are a few traditional Navajo items on the menu, and it would probably serve you well to order one of those items! My biggest complaint with this place is breakfast. We arrived at 10:53am (breakfast served until 11:00am) but were turned away. The hostess said it was 11:03am. The screen shot below was from when we were leaving at 10:55am. Probably not a huge issue, but they go by a clock that is 8 minutes fast. Our fault for cutting it so close. A place like this would normally get 2 stars from me, but the extra star is because there are no other sit-down places to choose from. read more

Solid 5 stars. They have traditional Navajo type food, Mexican and Pizza Hut if you have Littles or finicky eaters with you. Our service was excellent, our food came out in good time, and I am now addicted to Navajo fry bread. When you are in the middle of the Navajo Nation visiting Canyon de Chelly national monument and you're looking for a vegan friendly place for lunch, Junction Restaurant is a great place to go. There is a Denny's in Chinle, AZ but I prefer to support a Native American owned, managed, and staffed restaurant. No item on the menu screams vegan, but there are some vegetarian options that can be made vegan. My fiancé and I had the Indian Fry Bread Tacos, without meat or cheese, and was very pleased with the fry bread. Service was attentive and frequent, the dining room and bathrooms were clean and inviting, and the menu offers something for everyone. read more

There are really slim pickings in Chinle, but the Junction looked like it might have some possibilities. The restaurant was clean, and had the charm of the diner restaurants of yesterday. The wait staff was pleasant, so overall as for appearance and attitude they scored 4!! We ordered two the their very pricey Navajo specialty dishes (sandwiches). They are served on Indian fry bread. Presentation scored them a 4, they looked great. As for taste - they were just bla - the meat had very little seasoning. My husband had to add salt so the sandwich had any taste. The food scored 3 stars - not bad, but not great either. All in all, based on the few options in town, the cleanliness, the staff and finally the food I'd give the place 3 1/2 stars- but since that isn't an option I went with four. read more

Definitely a down-home, mom-and-pop type place. Regarded as the best option in the otherwise chain-heavy town of Chinle, this place nonetheless falls short of a must-visit destination. Upon being seated, I was surprised to be handed 2 menus - one for Junction, and one for the Pizza Hut with whom they apparently share a location. Service was so prompt that it almost felt overbearing - servers came by for my order 3 times in the first 5-10 minutes. I ordered the homemade beef soup, which was tasty and substantial at a reasonable price of about $10. Under the circumstances, this was a suitable option, but it's not the kind of place I'd go out of my way to visit again. read more

I heard a lot of hype about the Junction, especially the chicken quesadilla with green chiles. I was more than impressed by my experience. I got the chicken quesadilla, which was outstanding. The chicken itself was succulent, and perfectly paired the other ingredients. I have heard of some people driving here from California for it, and I can see why. If you lack confidence in spice though, I suggest getting the green chiles on the side. Next, I got a side of fried bread with honey. One word, mind blowing. I didn't think such a simple food could be so delicious. My final recommendation would be to either exercise in advance, or wear sweatpants because the portions are generous, and you will want to eat it all! read more

We had dinner here while visiting Canyon de Chelly. We both had the mutton stew and the portions were so big neither of us could finish. The servers were friendly offering refills and asking about our meal. There are very few restaurants in this tiny town in the desert so be skeptical about reviews bashing them. Start this review with the understanding that there are few restaurants in this town other than Subway, Church's Chicken, BK, etc. This may be the one and only place to sit down for a meal. The decor and atmosphere is dated diner. Having said that, the staff are super pleasant, the food is very good, the portions are huge, and we had no complaints. The lamb sandwich was awesome. The sheepherder was awesome. The blue corn pancakes were awesome. Really was a very good experience all around. One thing to know: the Navajo Nation is dry. Not sure what's up with all the negative reviews. We ate breakfast here last Wednesday, and the food/service was pretty good. Particularly the service. The waitstaff are very friendly and conversational, which is the Navajo (Dineh) way. Foodwise, we had a mix of the blue corn and buttermilk pancakes, which were really good. The blue cornmeal makes for an interesting looking pancake. The consistency is mealish, but the taste was appealingly like sweet cornbread.. We split our customary omelet (if I remember, it was the Park Ranger omelet which was pretty much a western omelet). It was good, but nothing to rave about. This, after all is Chinle, AZ. A long way from everything, and very close to nothing. It was nice to experience decent food and friendly people out there. We'll go back for sure. read more

After driving up and down both streets in this town, we settled on pretty much the only restaurant we found, this place... After entering and ordering from their typical menu, a grilled cheese sandwich, I decided to use the men's room. Their restroom was closed, and inside was a floating turd in bowl, of which was fantastically boyant, enough so that I couldn't flush it with 10 pulls. I asked the staff if they could direct me to the nearest restroom (hoping to be welcomed to the Best Western lobby's restrooms). They directed me to the crack-den Subway Restaurant next door. Heeding their advise, I found a graffiti'd up Subway restroom, with a non-existent stall door. At this point I gave up on my impending bowel movement. Back at my table was my cold tasteless grilled cheese sandwich. The bread texture was identical to the 99c air filter you can buy at Home Depot, and the taste was about halfway to a Matzo cracker. To top it off, our waiter served me the check before I was even halfway through eating. P.S: This restaurant is staffed by Best Western, an INTERNATIONAL hotel chain. Ordered a fairly simple breakfast that should not have been difficult to prepare but some how was given we were 1 of 9 patrons. But perhaps the most annoying thing was receiving the wrong receipts then receiving attitude when letting the waitress know it is the wrong one. Not sure what that particular waitresses problem was but that sealed the deal on getting no tip as she attempted to argue it was correct even though it was wrong. read more

My family and I were staying at the Best Western that surrounds this place. I'm pretty sure the two places are owned by the same person as they servers and hostesses were wearing Best Western name badges. We were seated right away as the restaurant was about half full when we got there at 5pm. The Hostess was nice and had a smile on her face. After we were seated, we sat alone for about 10 minutes before someone came by to take our drink orders. About a minute later our waitress stopped by to take our order. My wife and I got the Sheepherders. My oldest got a Pizza Hut Personal Pepperoni pizza. I thought it was strange that an independent restaurant sold Pizza Hut Brand pizza but whatever. The littlest one got the chicken nuggets. The food came out in a decent time, but afterwards once again we were forgotten for about 10-15 minutes. We got a refill on drinks and some extra napkins and again were ignored. When we were done eating all we needed was the bill and a to-go box for the littlest one's nuggets. After three or four attempts to make eye-contact to get some help, I finally had to stand up and walk to the back area to catch a guy and request a to-go box. We didn't wait for the bill, we just walked up to the cashier and paid for our meal. Overall the food was decent but the service was lackluster. The place was filled and had quite a long waiting list when we got done with our meal. I'm sure that has more to do with the fact that this is one of a total of two sit-down restaurants in town than its food and service. Another thing I have to mention is because there are only two sit-down joints in town, locals make up the majority of the business. With that in mind, we were stared at pretty much our whole meal. The other tourists in the restaurant (3 other couples) and I made eye-contact with that "Hey, I feel you. Awkward huh?" look. The locals weren't mean spirited or made us feel uncomfortable, but we definitely felt like we were on "display". Wil I return? Probably not. Not entirely because of my experience with this place, but I can't see myself returning to Chinle for any reason. We went to Canyon De Chelly. You want traditional, truly "American" food? Try out Navajo tacos or lamb stew at this restaurant staffed by Dine (Navajo). The place is busy even at breakfast. There were many local people I suspect which to me is always a good sign. I love Navajo tacos. Service is a bit slow but friendly. Also there was, at times, a delay in serving the entree to one person at the table while the other person had theirs. Prices are reasonable; I can't remember the average per entree right now. The place is clean, well lit and reasonably spacious. I really lucked out while there: I got to meet an old gentleman who was one of the Navajo Code Talkers in WWII. This place may be owned by the 'surrounding' Best Western motel but in this case didn't matter: I didn't feel like a culinary prisoner of the motel. read more

Good choice for dinner after a long day coming down from Cortez, CO (exploring Mesa Verde). My kids had the kid's meals (of course....), lots of fries and good portions of their main course. I had the Sheepherder (Navajo meal) with Navajo Fry Bread - very good. My wife had the patty melt, looked very good. Servers were attentive and they never let our glasses get close to empty. The place was clean and looked newer. 3 TV's to keep you entertained while you eat. One cannot beat the location if you are staying at the Best Western as this establishment and the hotel are owned by the same proprietor and share a parking lot.
