We stayed at June Lake Pines Cottages with our family (two small kids) for two nights, and absolutely loved it! The place has such a cozy, nostalgic charm, you really feel like you're tucked away in a quiet mountain town, but still close to everything you need. The cottage was super clean and had everything we needed: a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and even a little fireplace that made the evenings feel extra special. The location couldn't be better, just a short walk to June Lake Marina, restaurants, a general store. We spent the day exploring the lakes and trails, and in the evening, we grilled outside with the kids. The whole vibe is very family-friendly and peaceful. It felt like a little mountain escape without having to "rough it." We'd definitely come back again, it's the kind of place you want to revisit every year. Unfortunately, I did not have a great experience staying here. Here are the pros and cons: Pro The room felt very clean and was charming in its own way. The building is in a very walkable area. Check in was easy and the people who run the place seem sweet. Cons The walls are so thin that you hear EVERYTHING that your neighbors are doing. The first night I had to endure singing, loud talking, laughing, screaming for hours! My husband went and knocked on the door at 10:20 p.m. to ask the girls to quiet down, but it made no difference. The walls are just too thin. The second evening new people came who were just as loud, so we cut our trip short and just went home. Maybe the stand-alone cabins don't have this issue, but the cabin we were in shared walls and we heard every dog bark, toilet flush, phone conversation, etc. It wasn't very relaxing, and I felt like it put a damper on our vacation weekend. If noise doesn't bother you or you are in a stand-alone cabin, you will probably have a better experience than we did. read more

Kind of tough to review considering the plus and minus encountered while staying here. Upon arrival, our cabin was ready and cleaned. The cabin layout was great with an affordable price, but I was surprised there was no air conditioner. Unfortunately, we came at one of the hottest days or week of the year, and some nights were unbearable. They had fans you can put out, but weren't very helpful in 90 degree weather. The patio with gas and charcoal grill were awesome and convenient. They provide all necessary cooking and eating utensils, dishes, and paper towels. There's a laundry room that's accessible and a fish cleaning station right outside of the laundry room. A couple of critters made themselves cozy in the room. We couldn't tell if they were ticks, but I had some sleepless nights hoping not to get bit. Overall, not a bad place to stay considering location to the marina, general store and restaurant. The cabin is fairly well kept. Not the most pleasant evening/night with the heat and critters. read more

A great trip with the family. When we arrived the cabin (#11) was already unlocked, warm and ready to receive the kids after being cooped up in the car for 6 hours. The cabin was just the right size for me and my 3 kids. If you are looking for a comfortable family place to stay that is directly next to the mountain,this is the location. Each morning we could wake up to a nice cup of hot coco and be in the parking lot of June MTN and on the lift within minutes. I enjoyed being back in the warm cabin with feet up in no time when we finished each day. The owners are delightful and always asking if here is anything you might need. I always overpack so I was just fine since I brought my rice cooker, crockpot and expresso machine. But the cabins have everything a normal family would need. We will definetely be back up this season and maybe even the summer if they'll have us back read more

The manager makes sure you have everything you need. This year my entire family decided to join us so luckily they have a 3 bedroom and 2 bedroom that are joined by a door. So convenient. I have stayed here 3 times with my daughters over the past 17 years. This time, June 2020 I didn't even think to call any other places in June Lake as my stays have always been awesome. This particular time was with my new husband who has never been to the area. The staff here are friendly and extremely helpful. We stayed in cottage 11 and couldn't be happier. It was clean with many amenities that you wouldn't normally get. An abundance of fresh towels, soap, kitchen stuff, wood for the fire are all available. Not to mention the 24 hour laundry. The cottage it's self is just perfect. The bed was unbelievably comfortable along with the linens. It was comparable to the Westin, I kid you not. I actually looked forward to going to bed. So I defiantly recommended this place and will always go back there. You will not be disappointed. read more

My family and I had planned a quick turn around trip to June MTN. Plans quickly fell apart with our air bnb stating the reservation was cancelled due to the corona virus. Then we find out June MTN is closed due to high winds. As we pull into the loop at 9:30 AM, I'm panicked about the change plans. I called June Lake Pines and was quickly serviced. Lauren was super sweet. Giving me prices, availability, explaining the rooms, etc. A huge lifesaver was early check in. The cabin was cozy, clean and very comfortable. We originally were going to stay in cabin 7 but I realized on our way to June lake that we may needed a cabin with more rooms. I emailed June lake pines and at 7am and asked if I could switch it. She emailed me within 2 minutes and switched our cabins. So we stayed in cabin 12. It was so cozy and we loved the modern updates! Everything was soooo clean! The beds were so soft and warm. They had everything we needed in the kitchen area. My husband wished the tv was much bigger, but we spent most of the time fishing and napping. To me, it wasn't a big deal. My daughter loved having her own room across from our room. My father in law stayed in the 3rd bedroom that had a half bath. We were a short walking distance from the store, gull lake and tiger bar. Even though the owners were not onsite, they were very accommodating by responding fast with emailing and they were so very nice! We are definitely staying here again! I am going to apply my 3rd grade rounding skills and round up to a 5 star. The staff here make all the difference. We were warmly greeted. The one concern that we did have was immediately addressed without question. My breakdown on cabin 14 is a follows: One queen bed in a separate room and two doubles in the other. The bathroom is located between the two rooms. Do you remember that scene in Elf when Will Ferrell was taking a shower in the elf sized tub and shower. I will have to say that is what I felt like. I wish that the shower head was 18 inches higher. It felt like the water was pointed at my legs. The kitchen is well equiped and I was plesantly suprised by the Kirkland professional series pots and pants. (Costco supplies are a recurring theme in the cabin). There was one issue where the light switch was arcing when we turned it on so we left it alone. Oh, and parking is super limited. Even if you can park in the "lot" it is really cramped. This might matter in the winter when you do not want to have to walk to the car in the cold and snow. In the summer it was not a big deal. The bottom line is that for the price I do not think that there is a better place to stay in the area. I am coming back here again next year. This time I am bring the bicycle and plan on putting in some miles. What did I learn today? At the crack of dawn be prepared for chipmunks to be dropping pine cones on top of the metal roof. I LOVE JUNE LAKE PINES! The owners are young and hip and have transformed this older property into something fresh. I have stayed at the property 3 times now. I also stayed before it was renovated and although the rooms now are amazing, the property was so quaint and the owners were so nice that I loved it even before it was renovated. Amanda and Dave have done wonders with the place. i like cabin 10 although I think the others are really nice as well. I also purchased some of Amanda's AMAZING salve, its a MUST GET and her sister makes essential oils. All the soaps in the rooms are 100% organic which is awesome, you don't find that everywhere when you travel. I am a big fan of all natural. The kitchens are so well stocked. I cook when in June and they literally have every cooking utensil, plate, and pot you need. This is the only place to stay in June. read more

The new owners have done a great job bringing this little vintage gem up to date! By fortuitous chance we were able to stay a night in the cottages and it was lovely. The owners are delightful and hospitable (and hip!), the brand new beds and brand new crisp white linens were super cozy, wifi in the cabin, and situated directly across the street from the June Lake Brewing Company - hello happy hour. I have no doubt the continuing upgrades will make this property even better. If the weather had been warmer we could have enjoyed the stylish adirondack chairs and BBQ terrace. We stayed at June Lake Pines on President's Day Weekend. It's the perfect place to stay in June Lake, right in town, walking distance to anything you need. The owners are friendly and extremely accommodating. We asked where we could go sledding nearby and they guided us to the perfect spot and even let us borrow a couple sleds. Our cabin was cozy, but there was plenty of room for the four of us. We used the kitchen quite a bit and everything we needed was supplied. We have been coming here every year for about 8 years now. Brandon, Yuka and Adam are so great, truly go out of their way to make our stay comfortable and are very accommodating. The cabins are always clean and are very cozy. Being across the street from the General store is a huge plus, especially since they have a Keurig coffee machine. June Lake Pines are amazing cozy cabins for a great price! We stayed in Cabin 5. The heaters in the cabins are great, they heats up the place quickly. The beds are very comfortable. I slepted like a baby. Next to our cabin was a cute patio with a fire pit and comfy patio furniture. After skiing and boarding the mountain all day we came home to our refrigerator not working. We call the office manage, who came over right away. He fixed the refrigerator in less than a minute. All of our food was still good but we had no cold beer. The manager was very accommodating and ran across the street to the general store and bought us cold beer. This was the my first time in June Mountain and staying at June Lake Pines. We love June Lake Pines! Our family just stayed here for the first time last week during Ski Week in Cabin 2 and I can't say enough great things about these quaint little cottages. It was perfect for our family of four - one bedroom with a pull out sofa in the living space. The layout of Cabin 2 was great with the kitchen and living space. We never felt cramped. The cottages were equipped with all of the basic needs and more (etc. cooking utensils, paper towels, dish soap, dish towels, bathroom toiletries including shampoo, condition and body wash in the showers). If something was missing, the self service laundry room had it. Great location -walking distance to the hot spots in town and a short drive to the ski slopes. We can't wait to go back to June Lake Pines. The staff was super friendly. Far exceeded our expectations! Great price for the accommodations! read more

This review is for cabin #8. Boy this place is dated, run down, and funky. It did not look particularly clean. Romex electrical wire run through the floor to power the heater, rusty non-GFCI outlet in the bathroom, missing cover plate on outlets. When we booked we were told that this particular cabin shared a wall with a larger cabin. However, we were not told that there were people upstairs. These people had a dog who was running back and forth and barking on and off from 12:00 am to 3:00 am. Then at 5:00 am everybody is getting up to go fishing. Which makes sense now since there are so many lakes to fish in. The bottom line is that we we supposed to come back and stay a few days later and decided to cancel and book somewhere else. We had to pay anyway (we stayed in a much nicer place in Mammoth) since cabin we booked at June Lake Pines was not re-rented. Management never even asked why we cancelled. Needless to say we will never be staying here again. read more

I decided to bring my 7 week old and join my husband for a work trip near Lee Vining. I wanted to stay in a little better area, so we ended up in June Lake. The cabins were nicer than some of the motels and not as expensive as some of the other places. Maureen helped us secure a room and was super helpful with all of my questions. It was technically off season (no snow yet) so we had our choice of rooms. We went with Cabin 5 - I was particular about the furniture (no cold leather) because I knew I would be breastfeeding a lot and leather might be cold. The cabin was GREAT! Remodeled and very cute! The beds were very comfortable with just enough room to place my daughters sleeper next to the bed. The cabin was steps away from the road (wasn't loud when we were there, but it might be during peak season) which made it super easy to walk about town. Not a lot was open, but again, par for the coarse during the off season. It was a quick walk to the marina to see the lake and ducks. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay at June Lake Pines if we ever come again. read more

My family and I recently​ stayed in cabin 9 & 10 with adjoining​ doors! The property is conveniently​ located in town with a short walk to stores, restaurants​, and the June Lake brewery! The cabins are clean and comfortable and appear to have been recently updated. The maintenance man Aaron was instrumental​ in shoveling all the snow off our deck, stairs, and around the cabin so we could get in and out safely. I have stayed at most hotels in June Lake and The Pines is by far my favorite!! Highly recommended​. read more

We stayed at June Lake Pines in July 2016 for a family vacation with two teens. Cabin 12 was perfect for us with 3 bedrooms (queen beds) and 2 bath. It was clean, stylishly updated and VERY comfortable. The beds were so comfortable it was hard to get the kids up and out of them! We had everything we needed in the kitchen to make meals to enjoy in the cabin or take with us to the beautiful lake. The views from the cabin and from the property are amazing! It was a quiet place but still close to everything we wanted in June Lake. We all had a great time at JLP and can't wait to return! read more

We sadly just left June Lake, one of our favorite spots to go and relax in nature and go get our fishing itch met. June Lake Pines has been a steady place for our family and two dogs :) to get some R&R. We've been here a few times and here is my assessment: Pros: 1. Owners are stellar, professional, conscientious, considerate people--they take care of you and your group's needs. Never had to ask for fresh linens or toilet paper. They were just automatically placed in our rooms or given to us before we left to go on our fishing outings. Never once got that uneasy feeling like they would steal while we were away. Amanda also made sure to call me the day of our arrival to let me know my keys were available and door was opened because we were arriving later than expected and they we're not going to be available to give us our key by the time we arrived. 2. Reasonably priced. Considering we booked literally the day before we got there. Price wasn't hiked up because it was their last accommodation so still reasonably priced. 3. Rustic and cozy atmosphere. 4. Free wifi, full sized fridge, microwave, two full kitchen sinks, full stove. 5. Fish cleaning station and laundry facilities on site. 6. Great location--literally across street from the June Lake general store, candy/ice cream store, short walking distance to all the restaurants. 7. They provided a roll-away bed for us. It was already in one of the rooms when we got there. 8. Room #8 was great for cool breeze ventilation during the evening and night! Cons: 1. I read some of the reviews and noticed that people mentioned upgrades to the rooms. Maybe it was our room (#8) but it didn't seem upgraded?....The bathroom floor was buckling and rising near the door (water damage perhaps? I could hear the water pipe dripping in the wall next to the sink) so it made it difficult to shut the door because it kept getting caught on the rising floor. 2. The kitchen was pretty small even though it had everything to make a meal. There was almost no counter space to cut our food while prepping. Though it had a few dishes, a few cups, cookware, and knives, I highly recommend you bring additional kitchenware items of your own (cups, knives, pots, fry pans, eating utensils, etc). Especially a big pot if you plan to make chili or soup because the kitchen didn't have one. Thankfully we brought ours from past experience. 3. The fridge hummed so loudly my husband had a hard time falling asleep. And he never has a hard time falling asleep anywhere. 4. Parking almost always threatened to be an issue. Very few spots. First come first served. If you came in late you had to park on the street and walk it up to your room. 5. The ceiling and walls were thin. We could definitely hear the person walking above us and the people next door to us sounded like they were in our living room. It's ok I guess because our loud children probably woke them early in the am. It all evened out, lol ;) FYI: 1. They charge a fee of $25/person for extra people if your party exceeds the expected number of people per cabin. I think that's unfortunate because having extra people made it more inconvenient for the space we had available to us: we got less space but had to pay more for our cabin. I get it because of extra linen laundry costs, toilet paper costs, electricity costs, etc. 2. Pet fee is reasonable too. $15 per pet, I believe. Just be a conscientious guest and bring a kennel for your dogs so they don't urinate all over the rooms from anxiety if you leave them in the room while you are away. And bring some linens for your dogs to cover the beds and couches if they will be sitting or sleeping on them with you. It's a common courtesy for everyone involved--owners and future guests :) 3. Though it was cozy, our 2 bedroom was a bit too cozy for 6: 4 adults and 2 small kids. The roll away was a full sized bed that took up half the living room. So plan early if you want sufficient room for your party. And the roll away bed wasn't the most comfortable thing to sleep on. If you need serious support for your back do not sleep on a roll away bed! All in all we had a memorable stay here and we will be back sometime in September or October June Lake Pines!
