This is a solid motel when staying up at June Lake. It's a motel so this isn't a glamorous stay but I will say it's one of the better motels I've ever been to. The rooms are actually very big and comfortable. We had a downstairs room, off in the corner, with windows and a large living space and kitchen area. We couldn't get over how spacious the bedroom was and how comfortable it was for two people. The bed was super soft. Bathroom was clean and had plenty of towels. Soft towels too! A nice little couch and a three person kitchen table. Truly a large room great for when you'll be staying a few days. It was all of the little touches that made this room great as well. The fan worked and didn't make any noise. The heater worked great. The kitchen was equipped with a large fridge, sink, microwave, Toaster, and four burner stove. It was nice that they had cups, plates, bowls, and silverware. Honestly, anything you would need to eat in. We ended up eating out pretty much every meal because we wanted to enjoy trying the local businesses, but should I ever come back I would definitely pack enough to be able to cook here because it was a great set up. Tyler made check in and check out a breeze. He was nice and didn't give us much hassle when we needed to extend our check out by 30 minutes. He was very friendly from the get and insured we had everything we needed. We appreciated his kind demeanor as we checked in after hours of traveling. The location is five stars itself because you're dead in the center of June Lake downtown with restaurants on each side of you and right behind this motel is the very popular June brewing company. The location was walkable to everything we needed. We also appreciated that they had about a 10 car parking lot. When parking spots fill up, you are welcome to park on the street no issues. We felt that the rooms were pretty soundproof from outside activity but when you are on the bottom floor, we were at the mercy of the people above us. Unfortunately, the people above us were pretty loud, but that's just the way the dicerolls sometimes. I'm sure had we went to the motel staff they maybe would've helped but it just seemed Like too much to ask because really guests should be more courteous that we don't have to tell on them or confront them. The only real negative about being on the bottom floor, but I do prefer the bottom floor as it is easy in and out/not having to carry your bags up the icy stairs etc. The good news is this downtown area is pretty quiet and most of the businesses are closed by 8/9 PM so even if there are loud people, everyone seems to be in their rooms and winding down earlier than if you were in a big city so it was still pretty comfortable and reasonable overall. I would definitely recommend this motel when staying in June Lake, and should I come back up here soon this would definitely be my #1 choice. read more

I've stayed at June Lake Motel before and had good experiences, which is why this visit was such a letdown. When we were in route, we discovered the entire town of June Lake was without power and the motel never notified me. I only learned about the outage through social media, not from the motel staff. This wasn't a minor issue. I had my children and my dog with me, and I rely on an electrical medical device at night, so being without power was not an option. A simple call or email would have allowed me to make other plans before driving all the way there. Instead, I had to scramble to find last‑minute accommodations and ended up having to book another room in Mammoth, where there was power. This cost me extra money, extra stress, and completely derailed our trip. What made the situation even more frustrating is that the motel offered nothing no partial refund, no options, no acknowledgment of the inconvenience or safety concerns. They easily could have rented the room to younger guests or anyone willing to stay without power, but instead the responsibility fell entirely on me. I understand that they can't control a town‑wide power outage. But they can control communication and how they treat their guests. Unfortunately, that's where they fell short. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend June Lake Motel unless they significantly improve guest communication and show more responsibility during situations like this. read more

Had a kitchen and breakfast table which was great for cooking, eating, and staring out of the window in the morning. Though the view was just of the neighborhood, the trees and mountains were nice. Beds and pillows were comfortable. TV had various channels. The sofas, toilet and sink counter were all lower than usual which is perfect if you're a child but that was fine. However, it was hard to get a hold of anyone as there was no one in the office when we checked in/out. I just came back from staying here this past weekend and overall had a good experience! June Lake is a special place to me, and I always saw this motel growing up (we used to have a condo up here at Gull lake) For those who have never been here, I'm gonna list my Pros to Cons: Pros: 1.) The people who work here are genuinely nice. The cleaning lady, Alejandra is a sweetheart as well. 2.) The rooms are super clean, and I really appreciate that this place is pet friendly with a few designated rooms, that you have to book in advance 3.) Its pretty peaceful and quiet (we stayed in the added buildings in the back) 4.) I was able to book an extra night here last minute, with no issues. The fellow who called me back was prompt and friendly Cons: 1.) The rooms are really small. Ours was an estimate 10 ft by 12 ft (not including the kitchen and bathroom) There were 2 of us and a small dog and we had to practically dance around eachother when moving about. Add the King size bed and you get the picture. There was also hardly any room for my small dog to move around. 2.) The price is pretty steap for such a small space. $679 for 3 nights including the pet fee (which I totally understand the pet fee, but still expensive minus that amount for the amount of space). 3.) Our room didn't have any windows (most of them do) and I knew this upon booking. What made this tough is that the room was pitch black! So if I woke up, thinking it was 3am, in actuality is was 9am, so it really throws you off! 4.) Our thermostat was not consistent, and if we put the heat on, a lot of the times it wouldn't work and we would freeze in the middle of the night. 5.) They have pretty strict rules regarding your pet. They ask that your dog is kept in a carrier if you leave, and is with you at all times. It made it tough for us, if we wanted to leave and have breakfast or hike, without bringing my dog. She's older and can't handle as much. We figured the "do not disturb" sign would be enough if stepping out for a bit, esp as my Corgi is pretty quiet and rarely barks. We didn't know all these rules until arrival, where you have to sign paperwork. Knowing all this, I would have had her stay with a pet sitter instead. Overall I enjoyed my stay here. I just thought it was expensive for what we got. I'm SUPER appreciative though that they have some pet friendly options. Maybe I'm just spoiled for having a condo up here, but I think in the future I'll Air Bnb it for more bang for my buck and the added space. FYI if you're a light sleeper, beware of the fridge. June Motel is a charming little establishment in the main town area of June Lake. It's centrally located, right next door to popular food spots like The Lift Cafe and Tiger Bar and Grill, and a short walk from mainstay storefronts like Ernie's Fish and Tackle and the June Lake General Store. The motel itself has parking in front of the main strip of rooms which is where the office is located, and a back side accessible via a different road where some of the larger single room buildings are located. The map that was provided along with the key and motel information was a little confusing, so when I arrived on site after hours to check in I had to spend 15-20 minutes sorting out that the room I had booked wasn't in the main strip of rooms and I actually had to drive around to the back side of the motel. The room I booked was reasonably priced for the amenities. There was a small kitchenette with a microwave, a little two stove grill, and a refrigerator with a freezer. The cabinets were stocked with plates, glasses, and silverware. And there's a little two seater wooden table with two chairs for people to sit in. It was also fully stocked with clean sheets, bath towels, and hand/face towels. Overall I was impressed with how clean and accommodating it was. The bathroom was also quite large, almost as big as the room itself. The shower didn't have a lip so using it allowed some water to leak out onto the bathroom floor which was annoying, but minor in the grand scheme of things. So very thankful this place was available when staying at a campsite in June Lake from 5/9/22-5/11/22. The campsite was not an issue, the weather was! It was freezing temperatures overnight and just not ideal for tent camping. I called about 45 minutes before the office closed and we were able to secure a room. Thank goodness they were dog friendly as well! A few other motels were not! The room was cozy, had a kitchenette, and the tiles in the bathroom were heated. Stayed over the feb weekend and went t mammoth and June. Would not recommend if coming with group of friends.. Drove up late and came after work, showing up at midnight. Reasonable Since it was so late at night.. we from then on whispered till we called it a night. Which was inconvenient but whatever.. Woke up in the morning getting ready to snowboard had the tv on and light music.. got a knock on the door noise complaint.. Great!.. shut down the music and had breakfast in silence. Understandable until the next part Left to snowboard came back around 5/6pm upon pulling up. Worker storms out of the office and questions us about being the guys in the room 1xx.. continues to lecture us about having to take care of 23 other guests. We politely let him know we were sorry and came in late while he rambled that he knew for a fact we didn't supposedly. Noise complaints over the phone I can tolerate. But being confronted coming out of our cars in the parking lot before getting to our room. unprofessional!! That is the reason for my low star review. Room is stocked.. second floor movement is expected to make noise so I would request top floor if I ever came again. On that note I do not plan on it. The kitchen came fully equipped. We also used the BBQ and patio table for meals. Staff are very friendly and helpful. One evening, we even had a visit from a mama bear and cub. This is a very centrally located motel right on the main street in June lake. We've stayed several times. My husband has been coming here for decades. Me, I've been here twice now and really love the friendly staff and close proximity to everything. This year we got lucky and booked the last room 102 from a cancellation. They call the room "cozy"... I call it small. It's a bit cramped but it sufficed. Most of the rooms have kitchenettes. Some had woodstove fireplaces. Ours had a queen bed, chair, desk, mini fridge, coffee maker, toaster and microwave. They say it's good for a few nights and they are probably right. We stayed 3. But again it was last minute and we were happy to have a bed. Ice machine located upstairs. They have several bbq's.. both propane and charcoal along with all the grilling utensils. They also have a fish cleaning station in the back of the hotel. Shout out to Lisa at the front desk who was incredibly warm and friendly. The locals are kinds and recommend places around town. We loved the Silver Lake Cafe. Tiger Bar is really good too and very very popular! Rent a boat! All the lakes are nice. read more

This Hotel is absolutely a gem for us. All of the rooms are extremely clean. There is definitely a mountain ambiance, which we love, but with the small touches that make it very comfortable and homely. For example auto lights in the rooms, close parking, throwback updated appliances are huge. Pet friendly rooms help a lot. Also the central location to the stores, mountain, and lake can't be beat. I've been staying here for years and years during snow seasons and I would be nuts to give this motel anything less than 5 stars. This motel is an absolute gem--truly our home away from home. I am a particularly light sleeper and I always directly call the front office to see what rooms they have available to accommodate my needs. Tyler usually helps us out and always books us a room that suits my HSP sleep issues. The motel rooms are quiet enough and we always have a comfortable stay there! The cabins may be a bit tricky for you if you are an *extremely* light sleeper like me, but my boyfriend who is a normal sleeper sleeps in those rooms just fine for reference. The motel rooms with kitchens/kitchenettes have pretty much everything you need for a great stay. I always make sure to bring my own seasoning, cooking oil, hand soap, and paper towels but aside from these, the rooms have you covered. Furthermore, I cannot emphasize how accommodating the owners and everyone who works here are. Whenever we are missing or need anything, they promptly help and provide us with what we need. They are so warm and welcoming, you really couldn't ask for better customer service. We love June Lake Motel!!! It's our favorite affordable place to stay in June! read more

We stayed at June Lake Motel this past Memorial Day weekend. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. They informed us all the great places to checkout and visit while we were in town. Our room was huge with fully equipped kitchenette - kettle, microwave, fridge, cabinets. Our room, bed, bathrooms were so clean and in great condition. Even though our room window faced the main road, it was surprisingly very quite. The common hallways and parking lot is very quite too. The motel is located in the heart of the town, there are many restaurants and cafe within few minutes walking distance. There is a grocery store next door which is very convenient. June Lake brewery is right behind the motel, which was our favorite spot to hangout in the day and evening. June Lake beach is 5-10 mins drive from the motel. We are definitely going back again and staying at this cute motel and you should too. read more

This is truly the little gem of the Sierra Mountains. We came to stay for 1 night and ended up staying 3 nights. The rooms are super clean, kitchen is well equipped (I loved the huge double sinks) beds are super comfy, sheets are new and soft, best pillows and everything is well taken care of. The owners, Lisa & Grant live on the property and take amazing care of their guests.., We will definitely come back real soon. My advice is to reserve your room in advance because the are full most of the time. Other points to mention is the location! Walk next door to the restaurants, June Lake Brewery is also next door and both Gull & June Lakes are within walking distance. Amazing place & unforgettable experience. I was very disappointed at this hotel; I expected more considering it had 4 1/2 stars...the room smelled, the beds were not comfortable, the shower is very small and showerhead was hard to adjust so that water falls on you instead of the side wall, bathroom overall is very small, and the thermostat kept making clicking noises during the nite so it was hard to fall asleep--the room was so uncomfortable that we left the 2nd nite, even though we had already paid for it...unfortunately I will not be staying here again. The management here is unbelievably unprofessional. Specifically speaking one of the male owners (I didn't get a name.) A friend and I stayed here for 4th of July weekend. On the 2nd morning we were woken up with loud stomping on the floor above us. It sounded like a child was running around and jumping up and down at 7am. The check-in desk isn't open until 9am so we left a message for maintenance since we didn't really have another option to notify someone of the noise disturbance. The noise continued for two hours and we went to the office once it opened at 9am to submit another complaint because the guests above us hadn't stopped jumping around on the floor. The owner we talked to told us "Have your tried telling them to stop? You should go handle it yourself. It's like an apartment complex where you would go ask your neighbor to stop making noise. You were children once and I'm sure you were loud too." ... I'm sorry but what kind of absolute garbage answer is that from someone who owns the place? He basically told us to go handle it ourselves and create conflict between two guests while also treating us like children. We did our part of being responsible tenants and were mindful of others. Learn how to do your part as a manager/owner. We won't be coming back here ever again. Very happy with our choice to stay here (March 3-4, 2020). We booked a night here last minute (day of) and had no issue getting a great room, granted it was off-season. It was very clean and well-kept. I didn't get her name, but the woman who booked our room and checked us in was so nice and accommodating. The room was awesome. It was very modern and cozy, with all up-to-date accessories. We were very happy with our room. Some examples of things I personally appreciated about the room was: The bed was so comfortable, the decor was so cute, simple but definitely not bare, they had dimmers on the lights and motion activation in the bathroom. The tv was new and up to date with direct tv, great pillows, super cool vintage style fridge, and close parking. We felt like we were staying in a little guest house in someone's home. I'm so disheartened I have to write this review but...I had been looking forward to this mother/daughter camping trip for months. We arrived on July 17th. Check in was easy and the female owner was very friendly. Our room was marginally clean. Which was fine and I was content to stay there. Everything was fine for the first 20 minutes until we noticed more and more large dark colored moths flying around the room, especially the bathroom and kitchen. I went down to the office and despite the office sign reading open, no one was there and I kept banging on the door. I couldn't believe it because less than a half hour earlier I had checked in. I asked an older couple a few rooms down to call the office as my wifi was not set up yet. They got no answer so we just went back to the room and started killing the moths. The more we killed them, the more moths showed up. By evening time it was like something out of a horror movie. No exageration , they were crawling out of all our drains. We plugged those but they were on the sides of the bed, in the curtains and crawling out of wall fixtures. I called the 24 emergency maintnance multiple times and waited for a call back that never came. I had enough at 1 am with no call back and went to the office. There is a private residence attached to the office and I banged on the door. A small child (looked about 8) answered the door and asked what I needed. I asked him to get a parent and he at first would not and kept asking me what I needed. He finally got his mom and I told her to call the owners and move me from the room. She was very nice and did and told me the owners could move me to another room. I told her I called maintnence many times and she told me he was sleeping and that's why he didn't answer (so much for 24 hour on site maintnance) She moved me to another room where she only saw 2 moths and she disposed of them. A few hours later there were 8 new moths in the bathroom. We decided we could not stay. We checked out the next day. I would not expect to be refunded for the first night because regardless of how terrible it was, we ate the steak so to speak. But it would have been a decent thing to do to refund us for the night we didn't stay. When I checked out and told the male owner we were not staying the 2nd night because of the moths, he shrugged, smiled and said "Yeah that's all of California, there's an infestation." And I'm out over $400 for only one night...If they knew some of the rooms were infested they could have had it exterminated, this could have been prevented, especially knowing the room will be rented. We left and it was just so upsetting. read more

If I could, I would give 0 stars: Recently, my husband and I booked time at this establishment looking forward to time spent in what appeared to be a pleasant location. Shortly before our planned stay, the wildfires caused widespread smoke and air quality problems which prompted some evacuations in the June Lake area. My husband called and spoke to "Grant" who was exceedingly rude, saying "You signed an agreement and you will lose your deposit and FIRST NIGHT (a total of $163.00)". I then called and spoke to Lisa, who was equally rude. I explained that the fire situation, being so unpredictable in nature and with my husbands' diagnosed severe asthma we felt it was prudent to cancel. This was five days before our arrival date and two days into their 7 day cancel policy. "There is NO situation we will refund your money" I asked her why if there was a medical reason for this cancellation she wouldn't make her decision based on good customer service instead of "policy" as this was not my intention at all as I said we were looking forward to the trip but NOT at the risk to my husbands' health. Lisa said the fires are 50 miles away, however, friends of ours there at June Lake had been evacuated! The national forest was CLOSED as were the campgrounds at June Lake! Smoke travels, and again, this was about my husbands health, NOT some petty excuse to cancel willy-nilly for no good cause. At this point, it's not even the issue of the refund itself, which is bad enough, but rather, their horrible attitudes, lack of empathy, and total dictatorial spouting of policy at the expense of customer service. I also mentioned to her that I would no longer be interested in reserving any time in the future because of this experience with their facility, and she said "Well, if you're not coming back why WOULD I try and satisfy the situation". I may not have gotten her words exactly here because at this point I was flabbergasted that a business owner would be so cavalier about losing future business but it was clear she was not interested in appeasing a customer or future customer. I'll be emailing this review to the Chamber of Commerce for June Lake Motel too, as apparently Lisa and Grant are members there and I strongly believe the Chamber needs to be aware of these predatory business practices. There are MANY other places to go that actually treat customers with courtesy and respect, no need to bother with these grifters. read more

We arrived to this hotel around 5:30pm to find one spot left in the parking lot and a closed office with a board on the outside wall with several envelopes with names and room numbers on them. I found my name and went to the room which was super cute with a very quaint kitchen with everything one would need to cook meals and serve them. Two large beds, small bathroom with a cabin feel and decor with lots of wood paneling. There was a small flat screen mounted in the wall and table and chairs in the kitchen. I figured if there wasn't anyone checking people in you would probably see someone in the morning at check out but in the morning the office was still closed and only a key box was there. So I dropped the keys in the box and we left. I really loved the room but missed the connection with talking with staff when checking in or checking out. Luckily we had no problems and didn't need anything but it's always nice to know someone is there if you did. This area is really nice and you can walk right from the hotel to any place in town. I would certainly come back again. The price was $140 plus tax total $157 so for just one night and passing through it was a bit steep on price since we didn't need a full kitchen and there was no breakfast included or other perks. This was the only room left when I booked, the night before, so perhaps they have cheaper rooms available. If your coming with a group of 4 and are cooking then this would be the perfect place . read more
