Waited for 20 minutes watching them talkin trash, pouring beer and spirits for their friends, clearly in no rush to honor my reservation. I assume that anyone in authority wasn't there. I arrived early not knowing how the traffic will be on the interstate, getting here 30 minutes prior to my scheduled appointment. No big deal. The barber I scheduled with, Andy, soon arrived. I picked him from an earlier time of being here. He was a bit odd, had a quirky personality that I found amusing at the time. After bullshiting back and forth on small talk relating to the hairstyle I would like to achieve, it dawns on me during this exchange that he was going to charge me two seperate haircuts along with a shampoo wash. The text message I received from him when I scheduled this appointment stated that shampoo wash wasnt needed so long as I dont show up with 'hat head' or gel in my hair. My hair was smooth as silk going in. After challenging him why he was going to upcharge me, he started in going into some bit about my hair is long. Say what? I am giving you a canvas to work on and the starving artist doesn't want to practice his craft? One of the cuts, the specialty, would be within reason since I wanted my hair to be shaped in the Charlie Hunnam style. Andy was also going to also charge me for a buzz cut, which I am thinking, 'since when did I arrive at boot camp?' He stated that he wanted to get the cut right the first time and not have to cut hair twice. Here I am thinking that's what artist do! If you dont get it right on the first try, dont complain about doing a little tweaking here or there. I didnt mind if we worked on the initial styling and going from there. After a few minutes of this back and forth, He started complaining that we were wasting time and that 10 minutes had already past, to which I stated that his website said cuts can take anywhere from 45 to 1.5 hours. Seeing how this wasnt going anywhere, I started getting heated, because as an artist in this profession he wasnt willing to see and work with the vision I had been trying to peg down for my own hair style. Eventually I got tired of his vulgarity and his complaining that I just got up and walked out the shop. Ended up getting into my car a minute before my actual scheduled appointment start. As an artist in styling hair, I gave him such a luscious canvas to work on, yet instead he wanted to upcharge me and then complain when I questioned this practice. Some people just dont want to earn a great tip for honest work. I am sure the other barbers would have been more willing to work with me, but fuck if I come back to this barbershop when there are plenty of others in the City/metro. Sometimes, I just dont get Colorado; try to shake every penny from a person, but dont want to put in no honest work for it. read more

For our last hours in Denver, we were driving aimlessly around town. We randomly pulled into the strip mall and saw a big sign that said BARBER. That alone was enough to catch our eye. Simple. We like simple. We walked in and were instantly greeted. We got lucky and got squeezed in for the last haircut of the day. Vaughn was our guy! He's flipping awesome! So down to earth and real. Just good people. He gave my fiancé a GREAT haircut and got his sideburns all lined up. Then gave him a nice shave, just to make sure he looked good for me! We were thoroughly impressed with the service and will definitely come back looking for Vaughn on our next trip to Denver. As good as it gets. She has always been consistently great at her job and does a great hair cut everytime. Maybe JR will be more careful in what he says in the future and maybe he just doesn't know better than to use derogatory language about other religious or ethnic groups. I found my new barber!!! After bouncing around from various shops with various results, I stumbled on this brand new shop by Micro Center...really cool place, nice barber chairs, bunch of 80's video games to play while you wait. Good tunes, relaxed vibe. Noticed they have marble floors, reclaimed wood on the wall, a hot towel warmer and all their gear is kept in some sort of UV cleansing machine at each station while not in use...never seen anything like all this. Pretty damn good first impression! The owner, Junior, came over to greet me and said it would be just a few minutes. Sat down, got a cape with all sort of beard/mustache cut designs on it - guess they do hot shaves, too - could see the "old school" barbershop service. He asked questions to figure out exactly what I was looking for and did a great job in executing the perfect cut...did a really nice taper job in the back and sides, and even used a blade to shave my neckline after the cut. Fancy! Really classy, great service...he said you can book appointments online, which is super convenient. Can't say enough great things about my experience..this is my new place!! **Side comment - I saw another review...I think TV's have their place...but I like the direction Junior's taking with this one. Went here for the first time on President's Day! I will definitely be going back. I made the appointment in the morning and they were able to fit me in. Kara was my barber. She was awesome. Listened to my rambling about how I wanted my beard trimmed, what I was hoping for it to look like. She also shaved my head....did an excellent job. It is a relatively small shop (maybe 8 chairs?) but it has a cool vibe...very old school, customer focused, and clean. Kara recommended some beard oil, which I like very much (smells amazing too.) Donnie is the main barber I go to and he does a great job every single time. Very caring and a very cool person. So I am new to Colorado and well I'm not familiar with anything, I've gotten 4 hair cuts at Floyd's and gotten 3/4 terrible cuts. I always tip well because I respect their profession in general. But the second someone gave me a recommendation I took it. I honestly didn't catch the nice young lady that cut my hairs name but she seriously gave me the best haircut I've had in years. She took her time and made sure she was comfortable and confident about her work. My hair kinda sucks and she made it look good and made me feel good about it. Juniors Old School Barber Shop is the best barber shop I have found in all of Denver. Today was my first time coming in. I took my 8 year old son in to get a haircut and we were greeted at the door. Junior and his staff all shook our hands. Nobody ever does that. They offered us water or coffee which was nice. My son refuses to go anywhere but barber shops for haircuts. He considers himself an expert at choosing barber shops. When we left, my son said he only wants to go there from now on. Emmy (I hope I'm spelling that right) put a warm towel on his face and neck, he was treated like a little gentleman. Then he played old school Atari games in a wooden barrel! Lol. My cousin got his haircut by another guy who did a flawless job. (Sorry dude, I suck with names...he had a beard). This guy was surgical with precision. My cousin who lives in Northglenn also said he will from now on only get a cut at Junior's. The decor is pretty dope. Clean shop. Junior and his wife did it themselves and I thought it was cool. Walked in today really in need of a chop. The sign as other reviews may mention, makes it look like a normal barber shop, but it is much better. I did not get the girls name who cut my hair, but she was extremely professional, and thorough in giving me the haircut I actually wanted, not just thought I needed. I felt bad,, because I did not make an appointment, and she excused herself from what she was doing at that point in time to pencil me in. Hospitality!!! Love it! I hope her client was not upset, but he seemed cool. She did a great job! She was complimentary, friendly, and GOOD!!! That is the skill set I look for in any person! The shop itself, was cool... they offer many services. Beard trims, shoe shines, and a relaxing environment while you wait to get a haircut. There is even an old school arcade game there, which is so cool, if you ask me. I will definitely return, and make an appointment. They definitely stay busy. I've been going to Tyler for over a year now and he's the only barber I trust. He used to be about 10 minutes from me but since his move, I'm stilling willing to drive over a half hour for his service. He's super friendly, very patient even when you're indecisive, and puts his best foot forward. I've never felt rushed. I received a good haircut from one of the barbers, however the experience was HORRIBLE. I asked for a standard haircut to be faded up and scissors on top. The haircut took around 20 minutes. When checking out I was charged for a "Specialty Haircut". When asking why I was told by Andy "Since she used clippers on the side and scissors on top, that it's a specialty cut, and it's not her fault cause she's efficient and cuts hair fast". The full haircut took 20 minutes, and Andy was rude in the explanation. I will never go back to this store. read more

I have been going to since Junior opened. I was present in chair when comment was made that L J F referred to on 4/15/16. I was immediately uncomfortable by the comment L J F referred to to (being a member of the ethnic group in question), knowing Junior, I was waiting to see where the story was going. Observing Junior after he was made aware of his gaffe, I witnessed a man, terribly ashamed and repentant, unable to function for the least 5-10 minutes. I am sure that most of us has said something publicly, which differs from our true feelings, and that we have regretted later, this was evident to me from the regret and remorse I observed. If it had been my first visit and I had heard what L J F had, I would have left as well. I hope this gentleman would consider returning to the shop at some point to allow Junior an opportunity to apologize personally, as I am confident he desires. Without a doubt, the best barbershop I've ever been to in my entire life. When you enter the shop, you are immediately greeted and told that someone will be with you shortly. Junior is a funny, friendly guy who makes even new visitors feel welcomed. Derrick and Emmy also do great work and are very good with engaging their clients. They cut my hair even better than I expected them to, the shop is always clean, no loud music blaring throughout the shop, and they do fast work. It costs $20 for my cut, no begging for tips (as in the other shops that I've been to, but I give Junior's group a tip anyway), and the longest I've had to wait for a chair was maybe 5 minutes before I decided to just book appointments online. If there comes a time when I have to move out of the DTC area, I will always come back to this shop. That is how good they are. read more
