Bottom line is that they threw away a toiletry bag of mine that had about $100 in shaving equipment and other stuff, then denied it. The bag was the only thing in the bathroom, which we had cleaned out the night before. Their boss was appalled that we would accused his guys of stealing. They we there for two day. We bought them lunch both days. When they told us they were done, we found that they had not done 4 drawers in the kitchen, the other bathroom and a curio cabinet. Requested pickup on three different items through Yelp: 1. ~40ft of 5 foot tall wooden fence 2. A queen mattress 3. Sheet metals and wooden debris from an old shed Pictures of all items were included in the request. Debra from Junk King responded fairly quickly within the hour. No estimate were given but ended up setting an appointment between 1-3pm next day for an appraisal. Shortly after communicating with Debra I received a quote for $250 from another company and decided to accept. While attempting to cancel my reservation with Junk King I was given a $200 quote from Isalei, who states that the owner had greenlighted the price. The third party did not price match so I went with Junk King. This is when things went south. Michael and his worker Willy showed up on time and appeared professional. However, they attempted to upcharge after realizing they might not have enough room in the truck. Keep in mind, this is after seeing pictures of all the items ahead of time. I pushed back until we settled on the original quote. 10 minutes later, Michael called me outside again to try to explain to me why they need to charge more and once again, I refused. He explained that the worker had misquoted me based on her/his misunderstanding on the load. I found this explanation uninspiring since Michael is the COO of this company and ultimately have the responsibility over his staff's actions. This is when Michael told me they can no longer do the job. It wasn't until I expressed my disappointment and told him that this is unacceptable before he finally relented and agreed to finish the job. The job itself was done fairly well. They made quick work of the items with some parts needing to be cut down to fit inside the truck bed. However, the cleanup was somewhat sloppy and left a great deal to be desired. All things considered, I will most likely consider Junk King again for clutter removal if I can't find a smaller local company to take the job. In conclusion: 3 stars -Minus 1 star for lack of communication and ownership within the company -Minis 1 star for the sloppy clean-up. *Interesting side note: Willy, Michael's worker, asked me: "What if we can't fit everything?", after Michael ultimately agreed to the job, to which I replied: "I'm sure you will figure it out." I had a confirmed appointment for 8a-12pm. No one ever called or showed up. Called the office at 12pm and they said I'd receive a call by the driver in 5-10min. An hour later, I never received a call. I called back and got the run around. I eventually cancelled service 40min after that due to no call back and waiting well in to the afternoon. I needed to get concrete taken out of my building so I called them to get an estimate, and the lady who picked up was nice said someone would come out for an estimate. I told her that the concrete has not been demo yet, but she said that is ok because the guys are experienced. Andre showed up, saw the concrete and told me that it would be about 1 full bed load which came out to be $550. He took some pictures to be put on estimate and had it emailed to me right away... i said i think about it... so far so good... I called them few days later to move forward, and then they schedule someone to come pick up. The guy who came was Rodney, and he called 30 min prior to appt to let me know he was en route. He showed up and got to work. Then this is when things got bad... Rodney says it's more than a bed load so they can't do it for the price estimated. He said it would cost 50% more ($275) to get it taken cared of which needed another 1/4rd truck... then what really confused me was he said he can load it up if i agreed to the price.... (so they can only take a full bed and no more but as long as they got extra money now all of a sudden they can load up??) Unhappy with the situation but needing it taken cared bit more I asked for a discount to get it done. Rodney couldn't make the call so he left and said will have his manager, Michael, contact me. Michael proceeded to making me a deal ($200). He promised he would come back. Ok, so they did come back, but this time it was the original people, Andre. When Andre showed up, he said that there is no way he can do it for $200.... he said he need $500... ok... so since this was done on the phone, I gave him a firm tone stating that it was Michael who ok the price. Andre then proceeded saying that Michael is a different region and it didn't matter what he said... then he said his initial estimate was telling me that 1 full bed cost $550. I then got a bit pissed but still maintaining professional. I begin to question why I am getting a 2nd increase even though someone looked at it. Andre gave some explanation which were very unacceptable then ultimately asked if I was going to do it, and when I said no, he simply just hung up. So several issues here: 1. Why would you provide an estimate and say is about 1 bed load then come and tell me latter that the estimate was just telling me how much 1 bed load cost.... if you are just telling me that you could have said that over the phone... you didn't need to show up and give an estimate 2. I could understand the 1st time concrete not broken up and the estimate is off a bit and you want to charge a little bit more, but now with the concrete broken up someone said the additional cost then why wouldn't you honor it? JUNK KING! 3. When I said no to you on the phone, you could have politely said alright I am sorry for the inconvenience but we just simply can't do it instead of just hanging me up. You guys might get alot of reviews, but I am just hoping someone see this review and be cautious about how you deal with them. More than 2 hours pass by and still no call or did anyone show up. I then called Mike at 345pm and was informed they will be there in 15min. Upon arrival, they estimated the job and when I stated will they be able to do it today they were unmotivated and had no desire to complete the job that I requested to be done between 9-11am. I then spoke to Christina and she informed me that I will be contacted to have this issue resolved. I contacted her on Tuesday it's now Friday and I still haven't been contacted. I called for a quote on Saturday and they were quick to respond. The girl who I spoke with was very courteous and confirmed the appointment time. On the day of the appointment, we waited for 2 hours and nobody showed up or called to give us an update. They said they would come between 1-3 pm. I called around 3 pm for an update and they finally called us back and said they were running about 1-1.5 hours late. We waited until 6 pm and still nothing...... I am extremely dissatisfied with this company. If you are running late, please give your customers a call to let them know. Junk King came to my house for an estimate for junk removal. I basically had a garage very full with over 200 42-gallon trash contractor trash bags, plus some extra tile / stone. When they got here, the guy coughed a few times within a few seconds while standing maybe 10 feet away from me. He was wearing a mask, and he did turn away and cough the opposite direction of me. But I immediately said, "I'm worried you just coughed, do you have COVID?" He responded no. I asked him if he's been tested. He said, "No I haven't been tested, I don't have any symptoms" even though he just coughed a very nasty raspy cough in front of me. I told him, "You do have symptoms, you just coughed a pretty nasty cough". He responds, "You see me working, don't you? I have a cold." It appears this guy thinks because he's working, he can't have COVID. Or more likely, in my opinion, is that he just likes to argue for the sake or arguing, which is one of the absolute worst character traits an employer should want to see in their employees. I told him, "I want you to leave now." His response to me was that they're never going to come back to my house again (as if it was my fault that I asked him to leave for showing Covid symptoms and coughing on my property). They emailed me an estimate anyway, which was for over $4600 for what they estimated to be 6 bedloads plus 1.5 loads of junk. I found another company the same day that removed all of the junk from my garage in only 2 truck loads (I'm pretty sure this other company's truck was the exact same size as Junk King's truck), and did it for $1800 for the whole thing. These guys suck. They're argumentative for no reason (from my experience), and I'm pretty pissed that they estimated 6 truck loads plus 1.5 junk loads (I don't even know what a junk load means, but it's expensive), and it ended up being hauled away with only 2 truck loads after all. To the employee, you're a piece of shit in my opinion. If you have COVID symptoms, stay the fuck home. And stop arguing with people just for the sake of arguing. read more

I had an appointment today from 9-11 AM so I made sure I was onsite by 8:45 AM. I waited until 10 AM to call to confirm the driver was still arriving. They said the driver would let me know an accurate time within 5-10 minutes. Thirty minutes later, the driver called me to say they'd be another hour and a half. When I called the office to confirm that was correct, the person that answered gave no other information and was very dismissive about the inconvenience of already waiting two hours and then also being expected to wait an additional hour and a half. To the company: if you're unable to make an appointment time, let the customers know so they are not waiting 2+ hours and apologize for your inability to uphold the agreement. That would have gone a lot farther with me than your deflection of responsibility and matter-of-fact behavior. There are plenty of removal companies that could have been on time today. My office hired Jink Kings of Los Angeles to perform a trash removal at a property in Burbank, California in connection with a Court-ordered sale. They inspected the property and understood the size of the job before submitting a bid. Before the work is scheduled, they personally confirmed they will have the needed trucks and people to do the work. I know this because I personally called to go over all issues before the job started. The first day of the project, the workers showed up with no protective gear and no understanding of the project. One of the trucks left for more than half a day to go handle another project, significantly delaying everything. My office spoke with the owner of the franchise and resolved all the issues. We were assured that the remainder of the work will go quickly. The second day of the project, only one truck shows up. No protective equipment. Employees who obviously don't want to do the job and would rather argue (talking about you, Andre). After a lengthy call which is essentially he said/she said, nothing is resolved. "We have one truck." No thanks. Perhaps this company is good for disposing of an appliance or a piece of furniture, but they have absolutely no business doing actual trash removal projects. Workers that have no desire to work with bad attitudes, no communication between the scheduling and field workers and minimal equipment. I will be honest, in my situation I was not able to get a quote through pictures, but I also had MANY items to be hauled away. I called Junk King in Whittier and got a quote of $110 to remove it which is half of what Best Buy was going to charge, even if I bought one of their TVs. They arrived on Tuesday, Aug.9 within the time frame they gave me, so I didn't have to stick around the house too long. Two guys with muscles arrived with a furniture roller onto which they loaded my monster TV and placed it in the bed of their pickup truck.
