UPDATE - 9/3/25 To his credit, Lee, the owner of Junk King, texted and called me to discuss my experience with the trash pickup last month and resulting review. After discussing the details of what happened between the initial estimate and the actual trash pickup, I can agree that the issue was more about miscommunication and maybe having better documentation (photos) of the amount of junk to be picked up. So in all fairness, this was not a bait-and-switch, but a correctable issue of maybe internal training and also communication with the customer. Also to his credit, Lee agreed to refund the $80 difference. That's what good businesses do and that's what Lee did, so I can again confidently recommend Junk King to anyone who needs junk removal. Well done Lee. ------------------ First time was great, I left these guys a 5-star review the first time I used them years ago. SECOND TIME WAS A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. Hired them again in mid-August 2025 for a trash pickup, I had them come by to an estimate since I didn't have everything quite ready, and let them know I'd have 1-2 more small-medium boxes to add to the pile. The guy, Chris, arrives and knowing I was a repeat customer, shows me the price chart and says my amount of junk falls within the 3rd tier, which was $239, but since I was a repeat customer, he'd price me at the $159 fee, even knowing I still had 1-2 more boxes to add. I was very specific on the type and size of boxes I would add. He said normally that would be $239 but he'd still honor the $159 rate. I said great! I'd have it ready tomorrow. So next day, 3 different guys show up, this time with a different guy also named Chris who does the assessment. He looks at the pile, with the added medium box, and says, "oh, this much trash is going to fall under the 4th tier, which is $319". I said, wait a minute - the guy yesterday quoted me $159 and I explained the reason and also told him I have the estimate IN WRITING, in an email! He said, yes, I have it here but you added something to the pile. I said yes, I know, I told the guy that yesterday so he was fully aware and still quoted me the $159. "Yeah, but this is too much trash to do it for that price. Tell you what, we'll do it for the $239 price and I'll give you $15 off since you're a repeat customer." This felt like a bait and switch. I don't care if the job costs your company money, if you quote a customer one price - you HONOR THAT PRICE - even if it costs you. I could have told them to drive away, but I did not have the time at that point to find another vendor. read more
