I have worked with Joe and his crew from Junk Relief for almost 10 years now and I will never hire anyone else. The first time I hired Joe, my husband and I were demoing a 3 flat all on our own. We had no idea what we were doing so we dumped all the debris in the backyard. Everything from cabinets to plaster bits sitting in the grass. Joe, I swear always with a smile on his face, and his crew cleaned 4 truckloads out of there in no time. It looked like they had vacuumed the ground when they were done. Another time, years later, our basement had flooded overnight and I knew there was no chance we could save the carpet. We pulled up the carpet, called Joe at 6am on a Saturday and by 7am his guy was there to drag the soaking wet carpet pieces out and away. Speaking of his "guy." It's always the same guys, FOR 10 YEARS!! Employee loyalty like that only comes with an honest boss. Joe truly is as honest and professional as anyone I've worked with. Most recently I hired Joe's crew to demo and haul away the waste from a 3 flat I'm renovating. The schedule of the job was really tricky because I had tenants moving out over the course of a month but I wanted to get going on the vacated spaces. Joe was endlessly accommodating and so great about communication. He really made what could be a very stressful time so easy. He helped not only keep me schedule for the renovation but he put me ahead by about 2 weeks. Oh, and the place was spotless. My carpenters that followed after him were really impressed. Like another reviewer had said, I don't use dumpsters during construction anymore. It's really so much less hassle to just call Joe. There are countless other times I've called Joe for a simple pile of junk in my garage or basement and it's always the same fast, easy, and professional experience. First of all, thanks to Yelp. Since I found them on Yelp, I felt inclined to also post a review, great service is difficult to come by. Secondly, I havent even made my final payment to the company yet since they just finished work but I have been soo antsy to write a RAVING review. "3rdly" and most importantly I think (not sure) 1800- junk relief is a franchise so PLEASE if you have had a bad experience with one company, DO NOT blame this franchisee. I found this one on YELP and put my husband Jason in touch (otherwise nothing gets done in my house - as with some men - xoxo) who has been dealing with them. To say that this crew is AMAZING is an understatement, first of all, Joe met with my husband on time but his clean cut professional demeanor fooled my husband who was a bit skeptical at first but their bid was the best out of about 4 or so companies we called, they did an AMAZING job, they did more work than expected - I just love these guys... We recently bought a foreclosure (house) and needed them to gut 90% of the property, BOY! did they do a great job, throughout the process Joe met with my husband to get updates, changes we needed done, what was going well, or not, what else or what more they could do, I watched the chemistry between Joe and the crew and it was just great, great rapport, great mutual respect and amazing work ethics. Very respectful of our property and the neighborhood, cleaned up each night before leaving...I cant say enough. I'm sorry, I just cannot say enough great things, I wish them so much success and lots of work and I know we will be using them again to remove an old deck and haul away construction debris as we progress in the reconstruction of our new home. I've used 1-800-Junk Relief twice now, and I find the business to be completely pro, convenient, easy to use, and very reasonable. In winter 2013, I hired them to remove my old living room furniture from my apartment ahead of the delivery of my new living room furniture. Today, I had them remove my giant old 50" rear projection TV that has made way for the new flatscreen. In both cases, the highlights are the same. It's very easy to book online; they e-mail you right back with an estimate and for any extra details or clarifications. The whole booking can be accomplished online. The driver calls within a half hour before your appointed time, and so far, they have arrived very promptly at the beginning of the agreed upon arrival window. This is important to me, because I have scheduled them to pick up from me in the morning before work. I have prepared to get to work late after dealing with the junk pickup - just in case; but in both cases, the pickup crew was prompt, worked fast, wrapped up my payment and was gone in plenty of time for me to catch my usual train to work. Today, The guys got right to work, and moved the TV so professionally that I don't feel one bit guilty for not trying to find my own way to move and dispose of the old TV. I chose 1-800-Junk Relief this time and last time because of their stated commitment to sustainable removal of our castoffs. The old furniture last year and the TV today were old and worn, but not entirely unusable; so I am very grateful if the company has found any reuse or recycling options. My short review: Scheduling was easy and efficient, they came in at least 40% cheaper than the next lowest estimate, sent a text when they were on their way, and were friendly and professional when they got here. Dre & David took away our old sectional couch to make way for a new one that was getting delivered. Five stars, and I could not be happier! Longer thoughts: Via Yelp, I was looking for someone to take our 3-piece sectional. I was very specific about the dimensions of the couch and the day I needed it removed. Junk Relief was the ONLY company willing to be upfront with their pricing, actually read my entire request, and were extremely easy to deal with. Of the other four companies that responded, one begrudgingly told me their "starting estimates", but that was after I already walked away from them because they insisted on an in-person estimate. Another did offer up their expensive pricing, which I balked at. One didn't read my request, telling me to call them to "talk about it". What's to talk about?!? The fourth one told me, "I'm sure we could get that done today for you!" This was without any pricing, and me specifically saying what future date I needed the couch hauled away. So again, Junk Relief is the place to go with! Thank you so much for making what should have always been an easy request so easy! If I ever need anything else hauled away in the future, I will not hesitate to call Junk Relief again. read more

In this big box conglomerate economy, the true measure of a company is how it handles itself when mistakes are made. In the end, the details of the mistake are unimportant, in light of how galantly the owner of Junk Relief, Joe Weidman, acted in remedying the problem. The problem involved a very large pile of dirt and my absolute desperation to get it out of my yard. The original phone estimate we got was off (partly because I gave the wrong dimensions of the pile) and, when the crew arrived and gave us the revised estimate, we had to send them away because it was way out of our budget. I fully admit, I was insanely angry. But, within an hour, Joe called and took the brunt of my frustration and he said that he would do whatever it took to make it right. This ended up involving 8 guys (including Joe, himself) and 3 trucks; the work was completed within hours of the original appointment...and he tried to refuse any payment whatsoever. In the end, he begrudgingly accepted the original estimate amount (which, in truth, was only a fraction of what the job was worth), but it was a hard sell. I hope that I have another chance to hire Junk Relief so that next time I can pay them what they deserve. Thanks, Joe. p.s. My father was being released from the hospital and I needed to get his old hospital bed and very worn out wheelchair removed from our house due to a new bed and wheelchair being delivered. We also had an old grill and 3 old tv's, one of which was old school and extremely heavy. So I called on a Saturday morning hoping Junk Relief could do a pickup that same day and sure enough, I spoke with a very friendly girl named Madelyn stating they could certainly do a same day pick up. The process was so easy. Madelyn just asked that I text pictures of what I wanted picked up and she would immediately send me a quote. The price they quoted was so reasonable. I honestly don't think another company would have beat their price.(I did my research). When it came time for the pick up I was texted 30 minutes in advance to let me know they were on their way. They also arrived in the time slot that I was told, Love That! The 2 men that arrived( I'm so sorry I can't remember their names at this moment) were professional, efficient and kind. Amongst all the items, they had an extremely heavy TV to remove and I'm so grateful they were able to handle such a heavy lift. I want to thank both men again for doing such a good job. OUTSTANDING! I was very intentional about choosing Junk Relief after seeing all the great Yelp reviews about their service and pricing. Getting the estimate online was super easy; I uploaded pix of all the items to be removed and Joe responded right back with a more than reasonable estimate and they came the very next day! I had 2 truck loads of items to be removed and when my washer and dryer couldn't be removed due to things we had not done to properly prepare for disgarding them, Junk Relief even reduced their cost to reflect this change. Wow - I didn't expect that! Joe had even called me to give me heads up that his guys were running a little bit behind schedule for their arrival, which I really appreciated. The guys that arrived at my house, Jonathan, Pablo and Jesse introduced themselves to me and were cordial, professional and got to work, efficiently loading those trucks with my junk like a perfectly put together jenga puzzle - no space was wasted! I can't say enough good about Junk Relief and the guys that removed everything. Would definitely use Junk Relief again - everything from their customer service to their pricing was terrific!!!!! I have used JUNK-Relief in the past and they did such a great job clearing out my garage. We have since done a lot of work in and around the house and all of the debris wound up going right to the garage. I emailed for service, attached photos and immediately received a response back with a quote. We agreed on an appointed date and time and the staff showed up as promised informing me when they were on their way. They were fast, efficient and oh so pleasant. We had even added a few more items, but they assured us that everything would fit but there would be a price adjustment which I knew about and was OK with. By the way...it wasn't that much. I was just happy that they were able to clear all that stuff away. This company is so good and each time they have come they have provided consistently great service. We are still making adjustments to the house so I will definitely, once again, need their services very soon before winter sets in. I contacted Junk Relief via their online contact form to find out if they served Waukegan. I received a prompt response stating that they do provide services in this area and quoting their price list. Price is set based on cubic yards. When comparing with a couple of different companies, Junk Relief's prices appeared to be a little lower so I decided to schedule with them. They were able to schedule me for my requested date, even though that was only in a couple of business days. The crew called about 15 minutes before they were going to arrive and they arrived within the time frame I was given. They looked at the pile of debris that I needed them to haul and gave me an estimate of how much they thought it would be (in my case, 8 cubic yards) and the price. They stated that if they overestimated the amount, I would pay the lesser amount, but if they underestimated it and it was more, I would still only pay the initial estimated price. I was agreeable and gave them the go ahead to start. They were very efficient and were done within about 20 minutes. 1/26/24 I could have saved myself a lot of stress and aggravation had I known about "Junk Relief". I'm not that tech savvy so I do not spend my time online nor do I read and write reviews about various services . . . all I knew is that I had one medium size old T.V. that had to go! I called a few places and I could not believe how much they were asking. I even thought about taking a hammer to it and breaking it into small pieces to put in garbage bags then the trash. I thought again and with my luck, I would probably injure myself. Anyway, I called "Junk Relief" just yesterday in the afternoon, 11/25/2024. Guess what? That darn T.V. is gone now! I could not believe how long I suffered thinking about. They came today, 11/26/24 Just before 9:00 a.m. and was DONE! Now, that I'm on this Yelp page, I have read the reviews and I'm not surprised by the wonderful experiences these people had just like myself. We had three bulky items (large sofa bed, love seat, and commercial size treadmill) that needed to be removed from our lower-level family room. Eric was very friendly and helpful in explaining the specifics, including cost, and answering a few questions that we had. As promised, the two-man crew (Johnathan and Thomas) texted when they were on their way. When they arrived, they cordially introduced themselves and asked to be directed to the room. I expressed my concern that they might need to remove the hand-rails; they acknowledged and replied that they would, if necessary. (It wasn't.) They had to partially disassemble the treadmill and cut the large sofa bed in half. They completed the job in approximately 30 minutes and swept the area before leaving. These two men were perfect gentlemen and obviously competent at their jobs. In addition, when they sawed the sofa bed they found a professional autographed baseball that had been misplaced quite some time ago. They returned the baseball to me. I will definitely use Junk Relief again if a similar need arises in the future. read more

I had a most satisfying experience with JUNK Relief. I had them pick up items from 2 locations- my home: I had some misc junk which I had collected and had waiting for them outside, and a public storage locker nearby: 2 sofas. Bother were not difficult pickups. But what really made the experience pleasing were the following: 1. Joe responded to my Yelp inquiry the same day and gave me a economical quote that same day. 2. I started messaging in Yelp but had to switch to email when I sent over the photos. Joe was on top of the change in communication tools immediately. 3. I asked Joe if the crew could move a few remaining pieces of furniture from the old storage locker to a new storage locker. He immediately agreed and did not charge extra. 4. The pickups were scheduled for 2 days later with a 3-hour pickup window 5. On the day of the pickups I received a text message alerting me that the crew was on its way 6. The 2-man crew were pleasant people. efficient, and wore masks 7. The truck was very clean. JUNK Relief is now in my contact list for any future needs. read more

The Junk Relief team is amazing. Kyle and Alex have worked tirelessly with me to manage a challenging estate clean up process. Moving an elderly relative and managing a home sale with the removal of household contents in the middle of a pandemic is no easy feat. This process was further complicated by a significant distance and COVID related family illness and death which complicated our ability to travel to be on site. We were forced to reschedule the service multiple times and in the end, we were able to give only a few day's notice. The guys could have become completely frustrated and impatient but NEVER did I ever sense a bit of that. Instead, they bent over backward to accommodate our unique circumstances with sincere kindness. The family who opened the house observed the process and couldn't say enough about the efficiency and skillful packing which kept the bill extremely manageable. Spoke to Jose a couple times when requesting quotes and booking services. He was extremely pleasant and professional. I loved that I was able to book an appointment during the same week I was calling. Jr and Ricardo did an absolutely fantastic job in emptying out a storage unit that my organization had been using for storing old student housing furniture. They were on time, worked quickly, and I was very impressed by their efficient organizational skills when it came to loading the truck. Jr and Ricardo came by my office later that day for a 2nd pick up. It is a huge help that Jr called me 30 minutes before each pick up. Again, these gentlemen arrived on time, within the ETA window I was initially given. My office is located on the 3rd floor of our building with no elevator access.
