Our experience with MedVet was unbelievable. The result was heartbreaking but the concern, care and honesty from each and every person there was an unexpected blessing. We had to make a really tough decision, but they gave us information, time to process and NEVER put pressure on us. Opened our mail yesterday and to our surprise was a card with a HANDWRITTEN message from everyone there that day. That touched my heart and reinforced my feeling that our little guy's last vet visit he was surrounded by people who actually cared about animals. We NEVER felt pressured, uninformed or like we were just another appointment. If you need emergency care for your pet, go to them. I can write an entire blog about how bad the staff and doctor truly are, but no one really wants to read a detailed/long post. What I will tell you in short is that they will act overly concerned, will not have any sense of urgency, will do everything they can do to drag it out so your dog stays there. They will also try to convince you to leave your dog there for "observation" all while the clock is ticking and money is racking up. They also took our dog to the back and said she was resting while they watched her, yet when they brought her back to me two hours later, she reeked of pee. She does not ever pee in the house unless she is outside. Would I ever go here ever again, never ever would. There are other quality emergency vets that will take you as a priority, treat you with compassion, and not keep you there forever while the clock ticks and the money goes up. Dr Torres, Stephanie & Will were amazing. Responsive, caring & knowledgeable. Extremely clean and modern facility. I had called after 8:00 PM. Arrived at 8:40 PM and was taken to a room immediately. I know we got lucky as it was a slow night. But the experience was far less traumatic for our dog and for us because they made us feel comfortable and cared. read more

my cat ended up eating a poisonous plant and ended up going into shock. Every place was closed, except for this place. There was only one doctor and we sat for four hours before we could even do blood work. bloodwork was $600..... after waiting, they still couldn't conclude anything and wanted me to do an ultrasound for another $700 . I asked if he would be OK overnight or if you could pass away and they said "he could pass away we're not sure." staff was unwelcoming and i kept asking for help and trying to get him seen faster because his ears and body were really hot (found out he had a temp of 104 ). please save your money and your pet and go somewhere else. read more

This place was recommended by a previous Vet doctor from ACCESS Specialty Hospital in Royal Palm that I went to. I went all the way up to Jupiter to see this doctor. They did not sit with me to find out the history that led to my dog's eye condition. They concluded that they could not do anything until the IDEXX lab results from ACCESS were in (which took ACCESS a week for them to get). $375 to tell me this and a prescription 5x the dosage of what she was taking. read more

Our Ares banged into a boat trailer on New Year's Day. It was a terrible gash that needed to get stitched up immediately. This hospital did an amazing job. Please see the before and after photos. Ares doesn't even have a scar. Also, both Dr. Colitz and Dr. Latimer offer amazing specialty services if you ever need specialty ophthalmology and orthopedic care. I brought my 2 yr old pup to Jup (Emergency) MedVet location after my regular vet told me she needed to be seen asap for an X-ray & exam. once I arrived, I called to check in and was told "stay in your car with your dog until we're ready to see you". I proceeded to ask for a bowl of water for my dog because even with the AC on it's 100+ degrees in the FL summer and my car could not keep up. The lady brought me a bowl of water- smirked and said "I'm guessing you're the one who needs water", I said thank you, let her know my dog was about to overheat, she laughed, and went back inside. We sat there for over 30 mins; no update, no eta, etc. I finally decided we were better off going to another emergency vet who would actually be respectful and provide efficient care. read more

I'd like to leave a 5 star review since they saved my dogs life. But the billing policies? Who can pay 6k to save an animal without some payment plan ? **Please- MEDVET, how about empathy and understanding of LONGER PAYMENT PLANS VIA CARE CREDIT that wouldn't hurt you a bit!? Kudos to excellent surgeon Dr. Latimer for saving the dog. And, to my regular vet for sending me there specifically. The dog accidentally swallowed a huge bone. Caught in her esophagus. This was a tricky surgery, death possible. From start to finish there were positives and minor negatives. Note: I worked several years at an emergency vet clinic. 1. Intake-dog transfer: while reg. Vet called, sent X-rays and transferred us, upon arrival, there was no confirmation of understanding or receipt of any case info or X-rays. 2. We waited awhile, were then put in exam room-greeted by vet tech, asking various redundant routine questions. We explained everything was done already-tech took her in back. 3. Enter Doc one (not surgeon) explained what was going on,risks and what could happen. Me thinking "who's the surgeon?" I begged them to bring her back to say goodbye in case she died. They didn't do this until I read, signed paperwork agreeing to the bill and surgery. Okay. Balll finally rolling. They say she'd be in surgery a couple hours. My friend met me there (home is 45m away) we left, went elsewhere to wait. Dropped me.back off to waiting room where I continued waiting. Desk person acknowledges me some time later and says "oh, you're still here"? Staff then exits back of clinic, sees me, turns around and runs back. At that moment-I thought my dog was DEAD!! Apparently, they were just finishing and thankfully the Doctor came out-object swallowed in hand, and said she was alive. 4. Care while hospitalized-The next 2 days they were very responsive and doctors watching patient explaining things via phone. She was released, went back for check up and cleared by Dr. Latimer. I found him above and beyond; gracious, understanding, empathetic,passionate and kind. **My biggest complaint:almost 6k bill (not to mention what was spent at my regular vet) and happy to see they accepted care credit for those of us without pet insurance. BUT, only for 6 months. This is 100% offensive. The bill was also difficult to read since there were meds and exam fees charged 4x daily during hospitalization. The tech explained and reviewed every line charge. And, there were errors. +4 stars for fantastic care via techs and Drs. -1 or more for billing policies, short term only with Care Credit and incomprehensible invoice. read more

If you come here and they put you with Dr Wendy Ruiz Contreras run! I've unfortunately gone here twice and have had her misdiagnose cats on both days. One day she almost euthanized my cat. I knew better and went to VSH where he was diagnosed correctly and made a perfect recovery. Dr. Contreras should have her license revoked. I am in the dog profession. I used to send people to this ER, but will never do that again ! I was charged for something I asked not be done, charged for 2 doctors consultations, and exam, as well as astronomical fees for services performed. The first doctor caused undue, and prolonged suffering to my dog in labor, due to her lack of communication to the surgeon that was coming in from 45 minutes away, so that his arrival time could be expedited. It was very disappointing. I must say that the surgeon, Dr Baum, did a fantastic job on the surgery. The incision is beautiful and appears to be healing just as nicely. My GSD working dog hurt his leg chasing a Frisbee, his favorite sport. I had forgotten we used Medvet twice before and had excellent results. These guys specialize in sports injuries. Noah being a Czech line working dog, works and plays hard. I had him to two previous vets who wanted to sedate him for x-rays but couldn't explain why this procedure was necessary as they both diagnosed possible soft tissue injury. Not opposed to this, just wanted it explained to me. I decided to take him to a sports surgeon at Medvet, after I remembered of course! They were fantastic throughout the entire process. The doctor explained in great detail what he was looking for and why this was needed. OK, now I understand. I also wanted to be there when he was sedated before and after the procedure. This was a non-starter with other vets. They were a drop off and pick up later process. Czech line working lines are extremely loyal and drop off and pick up was out of the question for Noah. These people went out of their way to accommodate us. The entire staff was great and as it turned out he has a very bad strain, needs bed rest and possibly rehab. I would definitely recommend for a pet of this breed. Bring ALL your paperwork with you, make their job easier and that in turn will make your stress level on both you and your pet much more tolerable. Thanks guys!!! read more

Came in to get help with my dog, she had a huge cut under her leg. The nurse came and took her away to give her an exam. The exam should always take place with the parent in sight!!! They ended up saying she needs stitches for $1700... way more than in the budget. They Charged me $159 for the visit and did not even clean her cut or bandage up the wound. So basically just paid them $159 to tell me she needs stitches. Wish I just waited till the morning to go to a reasonable vet. read more

They were quick to help us, good listeners, my dog wasn't as hesitant as she normally is at the vet, and they tended to her thoroughly and promptly. The staff and service were extremely compassionate and accommodating during one of the hardest times of a pet owners life. Upon entering the staff informed me there was a 1-1.5 hour wait due to an ongoing surgery however they did a quick examination and realized my pup was in critical condition. Dr. Sigman provided options to proceed and helped me fully understand the situation my dog was in. Ultimately, I made the decision to put my sweet Luna to sleep. I was supported and comforted in my decision by the staff and the process was peaceful. I want to thank the team for talking such great care of my girl during her last few moments and making her comfortable. I am so happy to provide some positive feedback from my most recent experience with MedVet in Jupiter, FL. Our dog Riley was diagnosed with cancer and unfortunately the prognosis was mast cell tumor (MCT) which is a type of malignant (cancerous) tumor consisting of mast cells tumors which typically forms nodules or masses in and under the skin. Riley cancer was located on his body in a very tricky area and the surgery would not be easy. Prior to getting directed to MedVet in Jupiter, I had taken our dog Riley to three (3) veterinary surgeons in the area and I had schedule these appointments with each appointment cost just to see our dog was anywhere from $135.00 to $165.00 just to walk in the door. Each surgeon told us that they would be able to do the surgery but they would NOT be able to obtain the margins they would need in order to remove all the cancer from our sweet baby boy Riley, who is coming up on nine (9) years old. And of course, the price for the surgery was anywhere from $4,500 to $6,500.00 plus with no positive outcome for our dog Riley. Riley would still have cancer at the end of all of the surgeries and expenses the results would be the same. Furry Friends told me to try Med Vet in Jupiter, which I did and was introduced to Dr. Alex Padron. From the minute he who was extremely caring and kind and we discussed Riley surgery. Although it was going to be the same outcome, that all four (4) mass cell tumors would be removed but Riley would still have cancer, Dr. Padron was able to do the surgery at a much more reasonable cost and even provided me with a not to exceed cost. The surgery went amazingly well and Riley has made a full recovery from his surgery and living his fullest life possible with all the tumors removed and on a medication for slowing down the regrowth of the cancer. Dr. Padron was so amazing and I could not imagine not having someone as talented and most importantly kind hearted and really more concerned at the end of the day for my dog's health. read more

I took my cat to MedVet this past weekend for a Enterotomy surgery because he had a foreign body obstructing his gastrointestinal tract. This is the THIRD time he has had this same exact surgery at the same location (MedVet bought out our local pet emergency -Jupiter Pet Emergency - about a year ago). This cats two previous Enterotomy surgeries were with the previous emergency clinic and just the procedure with them cost $600.00 (in 2018 and 2020). This past weekend MedVet performed the same exact surgery but the cost for just the Enterotomy was $3122.60! That is over a 400% increase! I have called the office hoping that it was an error but they claim that it is due to inflation and "that is just what MedVet charges". This is price gouging and totally unethical. MedVet should be ashamed of themselves for taking advantage of people. read more

Dr Colitz is a good vet but be warned her staff is the worst. expect at least a 2 hour wait . Her staff is very cold and uncaring. They are extremely expensive. they did not even return my vets inquiring call, even when she my vet contacted her due to the severity of my dogs eye conditioned. I was informed that I did not need to come back to their facility for a month . dr colitis we sent pictures of the server eye condition as I was informed to send tand their staff didn't give the respect of responding. go elsewhere if you want your pets eyes taken care of read more

I went to Dr. Latimer at MedVet Jupiter because I heard from a few people that he was one of the best surgeons in the area. My regular vet advised to have it surgically fixed. I researched & scheduled with Dr. Latimer for my 2yr old working Dutch Shepherds breathing issue. I drove her 6hrs round trip to what I thought was one of the bets surgeons in the area. They did an eval (at rest) that I paid around $400 for and diagnosed her with a retroflexed epiglottis. Surgery #1 was performed (epiglottopexy). This surgery was around $1,200. She was rested for 4 weeks as per vet instructions. She went back for a quick post op appt a couple weeks after surgery. Everything seemed fine (she was still on rest). I slowly transitioned her back to work and quickly realized that same breathing issue was still present. The surgery did not improve the issue at all. I emailed the clinic (with videos) and we went back for another eval (keep in mind, this is a 6hr round trip for me each time). This time, I was told to fast her so that they could do the eval under exercise. I arrived at the clinic. They placed an IV and we went out back to exercise her. It didn't take long for the breathing issue to surface. We quickly took her inside for the eval under sedation while she was breathing hard. He then diagnosed her with left side laryngeal paralysis. They did not charge me for the eval, but they did charge me for the sedation meds which were around $150. Dr. Latimer assured me we would get this figured out and get her fixed. We scheduled the left side laryngeal tie back surgery and I made another journey for that appt. This surgery was was around $2,700. I took her home and rested her for just under 8 weeks per vets instructions. He also OK'd a post op incision check with my regular vet in order to avoid another 6hr round trip. She ended up with some fluid collection on the incision site and was put on antibiotics. It cleared it right up & there were no other issues. After almost 8 weeks of rest I slowly began to transition her back to work. I, again, realized that nothing had been fixed the exact same breathing issue was still present. I emailed the clinic and sent video of the issue as I had done in the past. I had always gotten a response. I received no response from them so after about a week, I called. The front desk assured me that they would show Dr. Latimer the video. Dr. Latimer called me and told me to bring her back in for another eval at no cost to me. They scheduled the appt and told me to fast her. I fasted her and drove the 6hr round trip again for the eval. We exercised her and Dr. Latimer (along with another vet) observed her breathing outside. We then went back to the room and he proceeded to tell me that he was not going to do any more surgeries on her and in short... he doesn't know what's wrong with her. He advised me to go to UF and sent me out the door. He didn't even TOUCH my dog. So, here we are.... another 6hr round trip for a 15 min appt to tell me to go somewhere else. He could have seen the same thing on the video I sent 2 weeks prior and picked up the phone to tell me that. Instead, I took an entire day off work and drove 6hrs for nothing. This entire ordeal was nothing but stress, a waste of (A LOT) of my hard earned money & my time. Not to mention putting my high energy working dog through unnecessary stress, sedation and procedures. Don't waste your time & energy with this surgeon. Do yourself a favor & just go straight to UF. read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this practice and the veterinarians and staff who work here. I have senior dogs who need special care, and I am so happy I found this place ! I have seen every doctor in the practice and my dogs have received the most compassionate, top notch care from every provider and their staff. Dr Latimer did surgery on one of my dogs, and he literally saved her back legs. Without him we would not be going on our nightly walks and enjoying the outdoors. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have several dogs who receive care from Dr Colitz and cannot say enough great things about her. Just know that she is the best ophthalmologist for your fur babies, and they will receive the best care each and every time. Dr. Wendy Lavalle is the oncologist who not only provides exceptional care, but her compassion is beyond compare. She is Kind and patient while providing care. Dr. Carpenter, the cardiologist, also provides great care. He is very thorough, leaving no stone unturned when it comes to his patients. You can trust that your dogs will receive the best care. I love Dr. Toni Yang. She recently joined the practice with the sports medicine department. She's currently providing acupuncture therapy for some of my fur babies. If you are not a believer you should be. Remember, dogs don't have the placebo effect. The improvement in their mobility is amazing. And Dr. Yang is so knowledgeable and easy going. I'm so excited she joined the practice. I can honestly say that all the nurses and vet techs are excellent in their field. They really go above and beyond to make themselves available and to help anyway they can. I cannot say enough nice things about front desk staff. They have a really hard job and they are always so polite, professional and helpful every time I am there. And it's not just me! They are like that with every single person who calls or comes in. If you are looking for compassionate, exceptional care this is the place for you. I wouldn't trust my dogs to anyone else. read more

I have been bringing my dog, Lucky here for acupuncture for a year and have very pleased. Dr Yang is awesome! I'm sure the acupuncture experience is quite odd and scary for the animals she treats, however she is so great and calming, and is very pleasant to work with. The care, concern and experience from her is top notch. The facility is neat and clean, and staff are very pleasant from the moment you walk through the door. Seeing as my experience is only with acupuncture, that's all I can speak for however, there's always a steady flow of clients and everyone seems to be pleased with the care and expertise of the doctors and specialists. read more

this place is a money trap. my dog was seen by one doctor on saturday ($330) and was sent home with some pain medication. I came back two days later due to my pet not getting any better. Once I arrived they told me they had to preform the exact same exam that was preformed on Saturday and since it was a different doctor i would have to pay the exam fee again (plus x-rays). The receptionist at the front desk told me they could match the fee my local vet charges for x-rays and when i mentioned that to to the doctor today he stated that was not something they could do. the first doctor i saw (on Saturday) encouraged me to reach out to my local vet and get my dogs x-rays done there since it would probably be cheaper because this location is an emergency vet. I appreciated that advice because as pet owners we all know visits to the vet aren't cheap. HOWEVER, had he told me if i didn't do the x-rays right then and there and and had to return, i would have to pay the exam fee again, i obviously would have done it. now im more money out of pocket rather than "saving" money by using my local vet. very displeased with this place. $804 dollars later they still don't know what is wrong with my dog and suggested to do another test on him for AN ADDITIONAL $760. Never will I ever set foot in that place. I brought my dog to this vet not knowing that it would be my last couple of hours with my dog. My husband and I arrived around 1 AM, we talked to the doctor, Dr. Lesia Bennett and we told her that we only wanted to do bloodwork for now and not the X rays that cost around 600$, she agreed. Her assistant came back saying that she needed to do X-Rays, we told her that the doctor said it was fine with only bloodwork for now and she looked surprise, she obviously didn't know what she was doing. After doing her bloodwork the doctor came back saying that my Pomeranian Maya had Renal failure, we made the decision to put her down. After we put my Maya down (I had her in my arms) the doctor gave us some time with her and never ever came back, EVER!!! When my dog started getting hard, I couldn't handle having her in my arms anymore so we tried to call someone and started knocking on doors ( took them 30 mins to finally answer us) Please keep in mind that my dog had just died. Finally after 30 mins of waiting for someone to come back or even answer us, a girl came back, super rude, we felt like we were completely bothering her, she said 2 words to us took my dog and never came back. Another 15 mins goes by, we started calling again, somebody showed up, again with the rudeness! And told us we could go. Nobody, not even the doctor bothered coming back to see if we were ok or even just tell us that we could go. Like this wasn't enough we came back a week and a half later to pick her ashes up like they told us (we wanted an individual cremation) the girl at the desk went to the back and came back with a bag with my dog in it!!! They never sent her to get cremated because they forgot to take the HOLD sticker off the bag. We asked for the manager because it was so ridiculous to us. Manager told us it would be another 2 weeks, my husband was so upset that he told her that we better not wait more than a couple of days to have her back, that it was their mistake and they better do everything they need to get her cremated as soon as they can. We have nothing but bad things to say about this place, everybody we interacted with the night of Maya's death was rude, all they thought about was money and they had absolutely no compassion, and over priced!!!! I wish my last hours with my dog could have been somewhere else. Never will I go to this place again. Ridiculous!!!!! read more

My experience at this clinic has been both frustrating and dangerous to the point that, as many reviewers wrote below, I will never set foot at this place again. Do not take your animal to this place!!!!!! Its a local animal rescue here in Jupiter but they have no care for your animal other then making a few$, brought my 14 month year old pup that had been hit by a car and the only thing they could say is that it would be 1600$ to treat ziggy. She passed 38 hours after I brought her to Jupiter animal hospital. I later found out that she could have been treated and could still be here today.......... read more

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Latimer and this review is 4 years overdue. He performed 2 luxating patella surgeries and 2 torn ACL surgeries on my Bichon, Toby Wan Kenobi. Toby had 4 surgeries over the course of 7 years due to genetic issues. Dr. Latimer is the most compassionate and kind doctor I have ever come in contact with. He never pressured me for surgery and simply loved on Toby. I cannot say enough good things about him. Just go in for a consult and you will totally agree with my review. Our small dog Beau got himself involved with a Bufo Toad and immediately went convulsive. Took him to the ER which has 24/7 hours. In my opinion they saved his life and we are grateful. He stayed over night for treatments and observation. They gave us a low to high estimate of charges and when we came back the next morning to get him the bill was actually lower than low estimate. Okay....didn't want to ...But got to do it....My review of Jupiter Pet Emergency & Specialty Center.....After speaking to my Vet last Saturday morning Sept 24th....My dog Bear was in very bad shape and told me to bring him right to the Emergency center.....I called them ahead of time....explained what was happening in detail with Bear and that my Vet was emailing them his blood work and records of his history.....I walked in the door, confirmed at the desk that they received the email and they did....They gave me a clipboard of paperwork which I immediately filled out and again explained everything that was going on.....They put me into a waiting exam room, where I waited about 15 minutes until a woman with another clipboard came in and proceeded to start asking me all the same questions again....I reiterated that they also have his blood work which was taken two days ago, along with his records.....She said, well I'm just trying to get some history....continued asking me questions which I've conveyed to them already....and told them that my vet recommended an immediate ultrasound.....She then asked me.....An ultrasound? And what would we be looking for??? .....Now you can imagine my face when she asked ME this.....Again I said....well you have the blood work.....you're asking me what to look for?.......She then says to me at that point....Well I haven't looked at the blood work.....In astonishment I said.......Well wouldn't this be a much more productive conversation if you did do that first???.....At that point she got very defensive and went on to speak for about 30 seconds straight without taking a single breath, raising her voice a little at a time as I went on asking her questions.....not allowing her to shout me down.......until I finally said....Are you going to just stand there and talk over me and shout me down, or are we going to have a conversation?.....This is when she starts yelling....Don't talk to me that way....Don't you talk to me like that!!!....and storms out of the room.....Now mind you I was very conscious of what I was saying and did not use a single swear word or attack her personally in any way whatsoever ......The whole time....Bear laying between my legs on the floor....dying......I sat there in the room assuming someone else would come in and take over from there.....5 minutes goes by....The door finally opens....It's the Vet, a male assistant and a female assistant standing in the doorway...Didn't even come in the room.....I immediately said in a calm voice....First, just let me say....that women should not be working in this kind of environment....She has zero compassion and all she wants to do is talk over me ....Clearly I'm upset under the circumstances.....To which he replied.....I'm sorry Mr. Russo...but we can't have anyone talk to any member of our staff like that.......to which I responded....Speak to her like what???....What did I say to her? I did not say ONE disrespectful thing to her in any way......I then sitting on the bench in the room, stared at all three of them in the doorway with zero response and blank stares for about 10 seconds......They had no response to my question.....To which the very next thing he said after 10 seconds was.....Well I'm sorry Mr. Russo....we're going to have to ask you to leave!!!!.......YEP.....as you can imagine....that is when I snapped....and all my composure, manners and respect went out the window.....I Motherf'd them this and Motherf'd them that in any and every way possible......as I picked up my dog who they refused to treat and walked out the door.....kicking the front door of the building closed as I got outside......One women came out pretending she was on her phone, walked around the parking lot to take a picture of my license plate as I was putting Bear in the car.....I said to her.....did ya get it...Don't worry....All my information is on the paperwork inside....Call whoever the F you want......Then drove off to The Pet Emergency Hospital on Northlake Blvd which turned out to be great...the young Dr there was patient as all can be and extremely compassionate.......So...Yeah....No way in hell do I recommend Jupiter Pet Emergency & Specialty Center......They get three FFF's for bedside manner......I think it's more that people are so soft and easily offended....That the moment they get challenged with difficult but appropriate questions.....they take it personally and have zero life skills to handle it.... read more
