Been going there since Dr. Joi worked there. Brought our Siberian Husky there from Day 1. They are very sly with their charges. I called to make an appointment for my dog to have x-rays because he was limping. The man at the receptionist desk gave me a 330 appointment. When I got there, they told me it was too late in the day to give my pup x-rays, because they require him taking a sedative the night before, and two hours prior prior to bringing him in the next day. Even after all those meds, they would still need to medicate him for x-rays. So, what they did, was give my pup a full examination, which he did not need. He did not need it because we were in there two weeks prior discussing his limp. Then they told me that it was too late in the day for x-rays. But they were not shy about charging me $195 for the office visit, and another $85 for medication's which he did not need. They said he needed two pills to calm him the night before as well as two pills to calm him two hours before we were to bring him the next day. So, why did they give me 24 pills, and charge me $68 for the pills? Every time we went in there it seemed they tried to sell us one thing or another. They must be accustomed to the residence of Jupiter Island, who have no problem, coughing up whatever bill they give them. I don't feel that they had my pups best interest in mind. This was not the first time, this has happened many times since Dr. Joi left. We said adios to them, and we will never look back. Our puppy is everything to us, but it wasn't so for them. read more

I was impressed with this place after bringing my dog with pancreatitis and thinking I'd have to spend $5000 to make him better. Instead, I took the recommendation from the doctor and nursed him back the best way I could. A week later I called to make an appointment to tell them he's not doing well again. The receptionist/secretary/gatekeeper/worst Front desk personality ever, went over their protocol with me to drop him off have him, get monitored until his 1 pm appt, etc. yet I get home from work to get him. I walk in the door he was very lethargic and no energy... I spent 45 minutes trying to get him to be a little more responsive and when I called to let them know, I basically got "well sorry you didn't understand what I was saying... you can't drop him now you missed your window basically... you can ONLY drop him at 1 pm for his actual appt... I was like wait, I have an appointment at one and I lost my opportunity to have him monitored as you had explained earlier with a PICKUP at 1 after he is seen.. She argued and then she sat there and emphatically told me that this is what was proposed to me and IT WAS NOT !!!!!! THIS IS SOMEWHERE YOU DO NOT WANT TO TAKE YOUR FAMILY ANIMAL.. THERE IS NO EMPATHY, NOR KINDNESS, AND I AM DISGUSTED THAT THROUGH A pandemic between the curbside drop off and not being able to be with your priceless family pet it all just equates to money, a line up like cattle in and out.. Never will I ever have my animal go here. Good luck ... Thank GOD I have 5k followers on social media and was able to get my dog in to be looked at right away and most STAY IN THE ROOM WITH HIM.. I would have given (and meant to give this clinic) 5 stars when we had both of our cats fall ill... I posted on nextdoor app about something that my cat was doing, hoping someone may be familiar with it and give me some advice. We had been going to banfield, paying monthly for the service but, it's so impersonal, & you see someone new each time. If you have a question about your pet, & can avoid bringing them in (we have cats so a bit difficult) then you can't count on banfield to help you out there. BASICALLY, looking for a vet to get to know our cats, care for them, & have a good relationship with us. A girl reached out to me. Her friend is a vet at tequesta vet clinic. She had sent the vids I posted of my cat to her vet friend, & was giving me advice that the vet was giving her. I thought that it was so kind and rare that this vet was giving her time to a non patient, I might as well switch vets. So we did. While it is more expensive, you can't put a price on your fur babies health.. We've been now twice, & I met the girls vet friend this past time. She was very nice. I told her how I started coming to their practice. Fast forward to a few months later... we have adopted 2 feral cats that were kittens, starved, & visiting our yard frequently. I started feeding them, & they ended up having kittens. We were able to get the kittens & trap both mommy & daddy kitty. These cats are feral so, they haven't let me pet them & are still timid. But they are dependent on us for food, & I love them like I love my indoor kitties. My feral female kitty, Delilah, has looked under the weather lately, & had been concerning me for quite some time. THERE IS VERY LITTLE HELP FOR THESE HELPLESS CATS, so when you want to help them but they won't even come within 2 ft of you, the task of trapping and transporting is stressful to even think about. Especially bc I have a 2 year old, and am about to give birth to another. I digress. I walked out on our new decking just yesterday & found many drops of blood. I freaked out, posted on fb community feral group, reached out to fosters I know, asked many questions, & of course, everyone just says to trap her. Not that easy for me. So I thought, let me call OUR VET to see if I can get some type of idea possibly. I realize a vet can not give medical advice legally without seeing the patient, but, maybe they can point me in the right direction. I called & the phone was answered by Jack. I only asked for the vet, & he said she was busy with patients, so he had me leave my information for a call back. MY FAULT for telling him this wasn't about our indoor cats but was about a feral I adopted. I don't know if this guy just sat on this phone call for the next 5 hours, thinking of how to lecture me but that's what it seemed like when I received a phonecall back from tequesta vet and thought it was the vet returning my call. Nope. It was Jack. After a long explanation on how the vets time is very valuable to the patients they're taking care of, & he needs more info to give to the vet in order for her to not return my call, but pass along through jack, whatever she had to say. I was patient at first, & he, like everyone else, only told me I must trap her & bring her somewhere, & not many vets handle ferals.. he wasn't exactly answering my plea for help/guidance. Just reinstating what i already knew. I said to him "I know that it's a legal issue and the vet can't medically advise me without seeing her. But trapping her is not an option for me right now. I'm due at the end of this month." He then said "maybe your husband can trap him then"... I didn't go into explanation of why that wouldn't be happening, bc it's unnecessary. I will explain here however; I have a 2 year old, my husband works from home, & I'm about to give birth. But, for whatever my reasons are, this guy was just not trying to offer any help in any way shape or form. In fact, he started fighting me & even scolded me when I started to get impatient and finally interrupt him bc HAD HE LET ME SPEAK, I would have told him the initial reason for making this my vet of choice, & maybe I put too much faith in them.. but I didn't get to say that, bc he spoke over me and said "I WOULD SUGGEST YOU NOT CUT ME OFF AND LET ME TELL YOU...." I hung up. Jack. You are in the wrong position, my friend. Vets time is no more valuable than mine or a homeless person on the side of the street. Get off your high horse, and be kind to people who are calling in because they want TO HELP, HELPLESS ANIMALS. Rather ignore them, & let them suffer...I care more than that. & if you represent a vet clinic where these HUMAN BEINGS went to school to learn how to take care of animals out of the love they have for them, YOU NEED TO ACT LIKE IT. Needless to say, I am on the hunt for another vet yet again. Its pretty sad that a place with such a great reputation, would have someone like Jack ruin a customers experience. read more

Dr Joi and her staff did a wonderful job removing some of my Lucy dogs bad teeth and unwanted skin growths. I was reluctant to put Lucy under Anastasia due to past experiences. I'm glad Dr Joi and her staff made me feel confident to do so. This was not an easy task, even know my Lucy dog issues had been making her uncomfortable. It was nice not being treated like just another number, which often happens these days. Also during these uncertain times the prices were not to hard on my wallet. I am absolutely blown away by the compassion, kindness and level of care from this clinic. Dr. Raymond and the rest of the staff were informative, direct but so unbelievably caring when it came to discussing our dog's cancer diagnosis. We ended up having to put our girl to sleep and did so through an at-home vet service but still received a hand-written condolence card from the staff of this vet clinic after her passing. Not only is Dr. Joi Sutton an excellent vet, her staff are some of the warmest most caring animal lovers I've ever met. Typically, when I would take my 11-year-old standard poodle to the vet we were using wherever we were living at the time, her teeth would chatter and she would shake with fear. Not the case at Tequesta. We were recently there for a procedure and a few follow up visits. Daisy's tail was wagging the entire time and she felt completely comfortable and welcome. As a dog lover and pet owner, I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Joi Sutton and the Tequesta Veterinary Clinic. And, one other thing I should mention, her prices are fair and reasonable. I am new to town and took my two pups to this vet today and I was very pleased. Their entire staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I did not feel pressured to do/get any shots or any other treatment besides what I came in for, which is much different than experiences I have had in the past with other vets offices. I also felt that their prices were very reasonable! Unfortunately, one of my pups had a reaction to their rabies shot and vomited before I could even pull out of the parking lot. I went back in to ask for paper towels and they ran out to help me and check on my pup. About 20 minutes later, after he started acting better, with some fluids and anti-nausea meds we were helped back out to our car. They took the time to make sure he was feeling better and even loved on him while he was sick (which he loved) when they didn't have to. I felt they went above and beyond for my fur babies and I will definitely be taking them back for future care. read more

When my girlfriend wanted to get a dog, I realized we would have to get a Vet. and started researching whom we should go to. Honestly, my biggest concern was that I wanted to find out how much things cost as you read a lot of stories of how expensive things can get. I checked out several web sites of Vets & was disappointed that they gave so few, if any, details about what to expect. I then got on the Tequesta Veterinary Clinic website & found exactly what I was looking for. Straight forward talk about a subject most are concerned about, but no places I researched dared to really mention in any detail. It actually has a part of the website dedicated exclusively to costs and not just a few, an extensive list of what they charge and even thorough explanations on what their philosophy is. Listen, I love our dog, but I need to know such things so I can plan, or at least have an idea, of what I'm dealing with. The transparency of this Vet's practice puts my mind at ease & makes me trust them, and that trust has been earned over the years. I have taken our dog to TVC for the past several years for routine and an emergency and the care has been excellent. I haven't had a dog since I was ver young & I've learned a lot from them. I've called them and told them I'm on my way & they've accommodated me. I've called and met with the Vet 30 minutes before closing and they not only stayed late, but helped me avoid a trip to an Animal ER Hospital if I promised two things 1-If his condition got worse, I'd immediately take him to the ER and 2-I'd have him at TVC early the next morning. I can't tell you how much money they saved me by working with me in that difficult situation. Whether it's vaccinations or treatments, they have always given me options on what the dog will receive without making assumptions, and to me, that is excellent customer service. I've had 2 dental cleanings done on him & had several teeth removed over the years. Since they don't charge by tooth, they saved me significant money on that. Don't get me wrong, I love our dog & try to do everything I can to take excellent care of him, but I also have a budget & have to be concerned about these things that apparently some practices consider too mundane to state on their website. Dr. Sutton describes herself as the happiest Vet you will ever meet and I have to admit, I laughed at that bold statement when I first read it. After interacting with her over the years, I can't disagree. Very personable & compassionate would be an accurate description. The staff has always been what I would expect at a Vet; passionate people who care about peoples' pets. The building is 2 or 3 blocks off US 1 so I don't mind the pleasant 10 mile drive from Hobe Sound to Tequesta for appointments even though there are closer places to me. read more

when we met with her she said my dog needed muzzling!! She's a sweet yellow lab! NEVER before or since has that ever been needed. She met with her and while we were there said, oh don't breed her, bad temperament!! Then took my leash and attached some promotional "chachki" for her without asking anything! Been going to this vet for several years and I have to say that The office staff and vet techs are caring, warm and truly love the animals. Very professional and knowledgeable too. But for the past year there has been a revolving door of 'temp vets'. (Not sure what happened to Dr Sutton as we haven't seen her for the past year. ) The latest visit with a sick cat, the vet of the day became hostile and downright rude when I questioned her course of treatment. When I asked her to calm down She told me, "As a Capt in the Army my orders aren't questioned and I don't tolerate being told to calm down". Geez...someone is on edge! Anyway, I'm not confidant in the quality of these day labor vets, so that was our last visit. Several of my friends have also dropped Joi as their vet because of the vet hodgepodge - It's a shame because this used to be a good practice. read more

I have used both Dr Sutton and Dr Waters for my two dogs. Both doctors, and staff, are genuinely concerned about the health of my dogs. They spend time answering questions and providing in depth info when needed . The clinic is spotless! The atmosphere is professional and "happy"! My dogs receive excellent care and a follow-up phone call within 24 hrs. Compared to other vets in the area, their fees are very reasonable. read more
