I first met Scarleth through a number of cooking classes I took at Faraday's Kitchen Store. She was fun and personable while totally serious about her culinary arts. When a friend's decade birthday came up I was aware that Scarleth was a mobile chef and immediately hired her. Yes, I was trying to make a good impression on said birthday girl, and Scarleth did not fail to impress. The planning went very smoothly over email. She proposed and menu that fit the budget and our taste buds equally well. Scarleth came out to Pflugerville bought and brought all ingredients as well as cooking utensils. She set up shop in my friend's kitchen. We could have opted to put Scarleth to work on her own, but she offered to make it into a cooking class of sorts. We sat at my friend's bar counter and sipped wine. We invited Scarleth to dine with us and thoroughly enjoyed her company as much as we did the total experience. The best part was, when the job was done, Scarleth packed up all of her dirty utensils, and even helped load the dishwasher with my friend's dinnerware. Was it an extravagance? Sure. But certain things only come around once in life. And, when they do, choose Scarleth. Highly recommended.

She also is the Lead Chef at Faraday's Kids Camp, so that tells you she is very laid back and fun to be around! I set up a bachelor party for my brother and his 15 friends, we were staying in a house outside of Austin. I knew we were going to have barbecue for lunch and asked Chef Bon to help set up a dinner. She set up a call to discuss a menu and e-mailed me an example of menu items. During our call, she asked all of the necessary questions: how many people, any dietary restrictions, what kind of food, etc. Since my brother likes all kinds of food, she instead asked what restaurants he likes. She said she would revisit the menu items and get back to me. She adjusted the menu to factor in the restaurants and the barbecue we were going to have for lunch. It was a perfect balance to accommodate the attendees and compliment the barbecue from earlier. When we finalized all of the details, she reached out to the house we rented to find out what supplies she needed to cook the dinner. Although they had mostly everything she needed, she still brought her own supplies. All of the preparation culminated to a wonderful, perfect dinner! She had everything prepared on time, explained all of the menu items in detail, and even let you try food in the kitchen while she was preparing the food. She made it feel like we were having dinner at her home. All in all, it was a perfect experience. It was incredibly convenient to have a personal chef, but I couldn't imagine our experience would have been better than Chef Bon.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend Austin Wedding Planners. We went with the wedding advisor package. We…read morefound them generally unwilling to provide opinions (I would ask questions about something and all I'd get back is "well every vendor does things differently"). They were overly pushy about preferred vendors (for instance, I heard from our venue who were contracted to provide our table settings that Austin Wedding Planners tried to get them to use one of Austin Wedding Planner's preferred vendors without talking to me about it) and they made some expensive oversights with the vendors that they'd recommended. For instance: They insisted a florist they suggested would not give us an a la carte (vs. full design) package. They did. We reached out to a florist AWP recommended with a minimum for full design. When we got that quote back it was clear they were struggling to get to that number and were suggesting more florals than we actually wanted. I saw they also offer a la carte options. I asked Rosa to ask about it. She said no, that that was only for elopements. I was really excited about them so I emailed them directly to ask if it would be an option. They immediately agreed. After I told Austin Wedding Planners the florist would do a la carte for us Rosa called me stressing out. Who would set up and break down the flowers? I said we would figure it out after our call with them. It turns out they were able to do both for a modest fee. Another instance, Austin Wedding Planners said our tenting company would not allow our venue to set up lighting in the tent. They did. I asked our venue which had string lights if they'd be able to set up lighting in our tent (our rain back up plan). The venue said yes. Rosa said no--that the tenting company wouldn't allow it. I followed up with the tenting company (who were not on the call). They said our venue could set up the lights. These two things would have cost us over $4000 if we hadn't followed up. Is it possible these vendors gave me different answers than they gave Austin Wedding Planners or they changed their policies recently? Sure. But given the premise of the advisor package is that you have a relationship with these vendors you should be getting me better deals not worse ones than if I negotiated on my own. Austin Wedding Planners have clearly been doing this for a long time and I think if you needed a day of planner this could still be a good pick for you.

She met with us shortly after our engagement and after we had set a date - walked us through what a few of her ceremonies had "looked like" as well as offer the things that would make it more personal for my then-fiance' and I. What I really enjoyed about Sarah's process was that she helped us figure out what kind of ceremony we wanted (we are both religious, but opted out of getting married through the church) so we decided on a partially religious ceremony that included a welcome, a dedication from our friends and family to support our marriage, a poem read by my cousin, our own written vows, ring exchange, and because we grew up near the sea, she incorporated a special and custom Nautical/Sailor's Knot tying ceremony...which everyone LOVED. For the rehearsal and actual ceremony, she was friendly and helpful with our bridal party and family as well as accommodating when we made a last-minute change. After we got hitched, she took our marriage license and got it to the state within the week and within 2 weeks we got our official returned license! Sarah was the best fit for us - she was so great to work with as well as super organized and helpful. Not to mention she gives you options for payment as well. We'd definitely recommend her to anyone who is looking for a customized wedding ceremony in just about any Austin location!

Christian and I both felt a calmness because we knew we found our gal - our conductor that would orchestrate our ceremony with ease, poise and grace. She's spunky and down to earth. Her ceremonies are authentic, natural and real - never forced or copied. She delivered our ceremony as if it was straight out of a Nicholas Spark's novel.
