I'm in Angie's prenatal yoga class and I absolutely love it. She creates a very friendly, warm environment by asking each of us to share how many weeks along we are & asks how we're each doing, so you get to know other moms-to-be. I find that whenever I show up stressed or distracted, it only takes a few minutes for me to leave that behind and connect with myself and my baby, thanks to Angie's instructions and the calm, mindful space she creates. This is my first time trying yoga and I thought it would be intimidating, but she gives very clear guidance and everything is doable even for third trimester moms. When I was pregnant and needed a great (not good, GREAT!) prenantal yoga program in the South Bay, Just Breathe helped eased my mind and made me feel more confident in my pregnancy journey. When I met the owner, Angie, she really made me feel welcome as a newcomer to the studio and I really liked that she carries SF cred even though she's been a South Bay resident for a long time. I attended a couple of her prenatal classes and it not only opened up my hips (very important!) but opened my eyes and looked at pregnancy in a different light. At the start of prenatal yoga, expect a short conversation about sharing something with yourself/pregnancy, but it doesn't get too hippy dippie like some yoga place I took in Campbell (cough Harmony) Rupali is awesome and made prenatal yoga very challenging! Currently, lunchtime works the best for my mom/work schedule. I took a couple of Carly's classes -- her teaching style is encouraging and nurturing. In fact, the instructors at this studio could very well be, the best in town. If they have specials around the holidays, take advantage of it. I was able to get 20% off a class package, and honestly, without it, the individual classes are kind of expensive. (but I guess, absolutely normal for the area) Nevertheless, I'd come here every time I need a more intimate and personalized experience that you won't get at Corepower yoga. read more

I practiced yoga at Just Breathe a little over a year back. I'm writing a good review today, as I suddenly felt like missing this place and it's high time I gotta hit here soon! :) Owner is very professional, courteous, friendly and helpful. I met her twice and also spoke to one of her staff at the front. Her staff was good too. Receiving their patrons and new customers are something they're really good at. You'll only smile back for their wonderful service. About Yoga...I love practicing yoga and usually just need a small space to do it, but when there's whole lotta spacious room, great vibes, nice people and good teaching...why not ??!! Yayy!! I felt "that great space" at JBY. The staff whom I met at the front desk was the teacher that day and she taught us super-amazing asanas. Her teaching was vibrant, fast yet clear cues. I liked her teaching style and people who're looking up to such classes have to be ready to be really flexible. I mean...really FLEXIBLE. I had issues while registering my details in their account and the owner was kind and quick enough to solve it immediately. One of JBY's regular client started a conversation with me on her own and said she really loved this place. That's it..that's all I need to hear about a business, from their own people. I wish I could've continued going to JBY often, unfortunately, didn't get a good chance to stop by in the last one year. Instructor was super chatty and didn't demonstrate moves people were struggling with. It was hard for me to follow on some moves and hard for me to get into a zen moment because she'd crack corny jokes or bring up inside jokes with her favorite regular students. This yoga studio is located in the Rivermark Plaza and there is ample parking available. I've taken the heated vinyasa flow, core and strength conditioning and the happy hour candlelight flow classes. The vinyasa flow was good, but the heating felt like it was on low. Core and strength conditioning with Nate is boot camp style where you do sets of different exercises that work your core and glutes. I was excited for the candlelight flow since it was my first candlelight class, but it was basically a normal class. I didn't see any candles at all (maybe one?). It was at 5:30 and the studio was still pretty bright. Try the classes and see what works best for you. read more

Love the classes and how they have many different time slots to cater to different kinds of people. Trainers are amazing and they actually go around to help you out. However, if you are a person who wants more space and doesn't like to feel claustrophobic, then this might not be an idea space for you. Very small studio and they are pricey. I used the classpass for while and they removed that as well. I was on the $150 for 15 classes offer. However that expired and I'll be moving back to my old Yoga studio although I like their professionalism. Love Angie's classes although it's cramped. However, when I emailed Angie to cancel my membership because I'm out of the country and don't know when I'll be returning, she said she will charge me $99 for the month of December! Keep in mind, I am giving her a 30 day notice. My membership has been on hold because I've been traveling but now that I know I won't return till January 2015 -- I thought it's enough time to oblige to the "30 day cancellation policy" I think Angie is completely unethical and money hungry --- kind of contradicts everything you would find in a true yogi. I love it! Thanks to their free Saturday classes I totally officially started Yoga! I have been meaning to get started on Yoga for a while, people have invited me, pushed me, heck even my best friend was prodding me every day to come with her, but I guess because I never really knew what it was about, I just never gave it much thought. I am glad I finally decided to come because Yoga is so different than what I thought it was. I don't know if I love it, but I don't hate it ... it's a start right? This yoga studio is small, but intimate, pretty well stocked full of goodies, and very clean from what I can tell. The instructors are great, and they're very calming and relaxing through the whole session, which I guess is the point ... I love one of the reviewers who said they thought yoga was just a bunch of people holding hands and praying for world peace haha ... I totally thought so too! Anyway, it was really enjoyable and if I lived around this area, I would definitely come more often! read more

The owner Angie is SO sweet, she also teaches classes and is encouraging/friendly to all students (new and old). Had a great time taking a heated yoga class with her, it was at a good pace and there was no pressure on anyone to push themselves too far. Definitely a great studio if you're looking to try yoga for the first time or are intimidated by other yoga studios. One flaw (and this one is on me) is that the "Heated Yoga" class is truly "heated" and not "hot." It's very relaxing on the body and is a great work out but not the intensity of "hot yoga," if that's what you're looking for beware of this! They have two changing room/shower/bathroom areas and some seating by the entrance. Yoga mat rentals are $2. I left feeling very refreshed physically and mentally :) read more

Discovered this little yoga studio through ClassPass. Angie is by far my favorite instructor here. She's friendly and encouraging to everyone, and her adjustments always feel great--like a mini massage. The classes here are definitely less "corporate" in the sense that you'll find a little bit of a different structure to the classes each time (good or bad depending on what you like). I personally like that since I get bored very easily during workouts. The classes have a good mix of intermediate and beginners so the class atmosphere is very welcoming and you never feel intimidated. I also love that Angie hands out these cold, wet towels with eucalyptus after class. We can use them to wipe our faces and then the mat afterwards. read more

Wanted to try specially the prenatal yoga classes, so I purchased the 2 week new member pass. I couldn't attend to the first week as I was exhausted (expecting mom) so. , decied to try it the following week when I had spring break. The class I wanted to attend Monday night was canceled. I looked at the rest of the schedule for the week and and it said all the prenatal yoga were canceled. I contacted the studio and left a message. I received a call c Back at 11 something in the evening with a text message stating she would help me when she returned from vacation. Now I understand why the classes were canceled. I texted her thank you I will reach out if I can't register and she responded who's this? I reminded her who I was and sent her the text she sent me. She told me my pass was up on the 15th and no one registered for the Monday class by 3:30pm. I told her several times... im.new to the studio and didn't even know that was a rule. She told.me.she could only help with one class after several rude text to me, I decided this studio wasn't for me. A lot of hassel and stress. I just wanted a community to support me with yoga for my first child. The energy was not right for me. I feel bad breaking the 5 star streak, but I can't give this place 5 stars (well, I'll update after I finish all my classes). I bought the Groupon - $25 for 5 classes. I tried the Heated Vinyasa class on Tuesday night and there was a new instructor. He kept switching from balancing to mat and mat to balancing poses so I didn't feel like there was much of a flow. I was disappointed Angie didn't teach, but I'll try to catch her class next time. Coming from Bikram Yoga San Jose, this class was not as bad, but was not as challenging as I would have liked. When I go to Bikram, I dread it and seriously want to die in class. When I came here, it was much more easier and it's easier to get negative feelings out since you're not concentrated on the heat. It's not as structured or strict as Bikram, so that was a huge change for me. It's clean and I like how they provide Lysol sheets for the plastic mat floor and antiseptic spray for your yoga mat. It was a nice, thoughtful touch. If you want to lose weight and have drastic changes, go to Bikram. If you want to challenge yourself and sweat buckets, go to Bikram. If you want an easygoing yoga class come here. And then you can grab Fantasia tea on your way out since it's next door. =) Angie let me try the "Hard Core" Abs class. Noell had a nice voice and cadence to her speech. But I didn't feel like it lived up to its name. They should change it to "mat, pilates class" - which was exactly how it was described to me. The skill level and difficulty is the same as pilates classes at the 24 hour Fitness gyms. I have a membership there, so I think I'll save my Groupon classes for yoga. I came by for my first visit today and took a lunchtime Heated Dynamic Vinyasa with Carly. It's been many weeks since I've been able to focus on my practice and this was a great way to get back into it. I visited this yoga place a few months ago. I went on a Tuesday and had Erica as a teacher. I was about 26 weeks pregnant give or take. I was also late...Bay area traffic is no joke these days. I walked in, she was clearly irritated but only let it show a little bit by snapping at me after I didn't hear her the first time to 'take off my shoes!' She was also impatient in general- here are some direct quotes from her class: We were doing a pose and she said "ladies, stop stop! 95% of you are doing this pose wrong. Look at me..." She demonstrated how to do it but her tone of voice was so rude it was shocking to me. We were all adults but she was clearly talking to us like we were incompetent children. She also encouraged us to work through pain which was odd to me, because we're all pregnant and no doctor would tell us to push through pain...at my previous prenatal class they told us to stop if anything hurt which I agreed with...I think for pregnant women telling them to push through pain is awful and dangerous advice. At one point she said: "I love being a teacher, where else can you tell people when to breathe," no one laughed... I was somewhat appalled by the comment... This was my second prenatal yoga class and I went with my friend who was almost a certified Yoga teacher but stopped towards the end when she changed her mind. She knew about yoga and told me after class that the exercises she was having us do were incorrect and not good for us since we were pregnant which made me wonder if Erica was a certified prenatal yoga expert. I had called the number which happens to be the managers cell to let them know I'd be late. She was having dinner but followed up with me and asked how it was and I said it was good, I didn't want documentation of me complaining about how much I didn't like it since I had bought a group of classes and realized I may have to see Erica again. Angie, the manager was very kind throughout the process which is why I gave 2 stars. I couldn't get my money back for the class package and because I was generally only free the days that Erica taught I never went back... it wasn't worth it to me to get off early, be spoken to so disrespectfully and feel stressed the entire time. I didn't try any other classes so maybe it was just Erica, maybe she was just having an off day but I don't recommend taking her classes as that night my back was in pain and the next day made an appointment to go to the chiropractor due to the discomfort I felt from her class. read more

She offers a lot of suggestions for pregnancy related aches and modifications for beginners. On travel in Santa Clara and found this studio in the complex close to my hotel (Hyatt House). The Vinyasa Flow with Erica at 7:15-8:45 on Monday night. At first glance I didn't know how I felt about taking an hour and a half class, especially from this teacher. Don't let her fool you, she was awesome! I broke it down to three things that set this studio apart; music, movement, mastery. Music: This wasn't the typical "yoga" music. She mixed slow and fast hits and set her class to them. It made the class fly by. Movement: The poses had slight differences than what I am used to - it felt like she was trying to put a new spin on old poses. It stretched my mind and practice. Mastery: The teacher was young, and she had some mastery challenges. I liked her a lot, but I'm patient with being told to do the wrong leg/having people have to correct themselves. If you're looking for a "perfect" teacher, keep looking. She's probably a millennial, but so am I so it was a great match. Bonus: This place is on Classpass! read more

Nicole is one of the greatest instructor. I always enjoy the "Gentle Yoga" she instructed on Sunday. The sensation of the yoga makes me peaceful. The indie music she played is in harmony with the pose and the breath. One thing disappointed me is the price of this studio went up dramatically. I was not happy with my experience here. I rarely give out one star ratings. Unfortunately, Just Breathe Yoga, will have to be in that category. I bought a Groupon deal to try this yoga studio out. I only used 2 of the 5 classes I bought with the Groupon and it was enough for me to decide that this studio was not the place for me to practice yoga. The studio has bamboo floors, which is great because when you do Vinyasa and the room gets heated, the smell can get pretty potent. The space is quite small and the way that it's set up, it's really hard to see what the instructor is doing if you are not in the first 2 rows. On the right side of the studio is a wall of window space. Although there are blinds, they are usually open, which can be pretty awkward when you are practicing and someone is walking by, gawking at you. It takes away from the practice in my opinion. How am I suppose to focus on my pose when some guy is walking by ogling me? After 2 classes here, I decided to try other yoga studios and forget about using the rest of my passes at Just Breathe. But then recently I was contacted by, Angie Poon, the manager at Just Breathe who said that I had not paid for the 2 classes I took there. I responded and said that I had used my Groupon deal there and that I should still have a few more sessions there to use up. Angie replied and said that I never activated my Groupon deal or give my Groupon to anyone. I was then told that the remaining sessions from that deal has already expired. First of all, I did not appreciate the tone Ms. Poon took with me. Secondly, the fault was of her staff who did not properly put me into the system when I signed up. I did not have any intentions on coming back to the studio anyway but now I feel I need to post this negative review because of my experience with the management. Just Breathe is the worse yoga studio I've ever been to because of its inadequate facility and poor management. read more

I got the introductory $25 for 2 weeks of unlimited yoga and was really excited about this deal at first. And while I am sure this might be a good fit for others, I went once and decided this was not my type of studio for a couple of reasons. 1) I didn't really like the floor, though it wasn't dirty it just was not comfortable to practice on - I've been to studios where the floor has some sort of covering which I usually prefer. 2) It took some time to get into the actual poses, which I think is just the way they teach at this studio - which once again is completely fine, but I prefer an active method where you are energized and use every minute to push through poses. 3) There was a lot of discussion about an incident that had occurred the week prior about some sort of dramatic episode that had occurred - which made the studio change their policy about timing. I didn't really like hearing about it, and the studios I've been to are usually really strict - no in's after class has began, and no outs until the very end. Two people also left early, which I just find to be uber distracting. 4) Heat. It didn't get as hot as I wanted. I love to feel the sweat developing from relaxing in the studio prior to taking our first breaths and for me, the heat was not as intense as I preferred. 5) There was a group activity prior to class ending. I personally did not want to touch anyone else, nor wanted to attempt - and luckily I was sitting next to two people who felt the same. I would have been happy working with people, but I'm a germaphobe and the last thing I want to do is touch anyone. I kind of felt offended when the instructor thanked those who tried and said that those who did not, did not understand that yoga was about community and maybe yoga wasn't for us. Regardless, I did still feel a good workout after all of this. And take my comments with a grain of salt. As all activities and settings to practice, everyone has their own preference. What may not have worked for me, may work for you - just depends on you! read more

Holy Dopamine! I didn't know yoga could make you feel so good. I thought it was just a bunch of people, holding hands and praying for world peace. How wrong was I? Obviously, I've never seen the inside of a yoga studio before and obviously I've never set foot on a yoga mat, so this review is from the perspective of a total yoga beginner. I took the plunge with their $25 for 2 weeks of unlimited classes and I'm really glad because I got to try different types of classes and figure out which instructors I liked! As a beginner, I was able to attend the Vinyasa basics and the Yin/Restorative yoga classes. I chickened out of the regular vinyasa classes because I didn't think my body could take the pace of those classes! The instructors, at least the ones I have attended classes with, are really warm and friendly. I came away from my first basics class with Kevyn feeling like I was throughly worked out, but also felt extremely relaxed and at peace. Needless to say, I love Kevyn's class (Tue - 7:15pm) and I also really like the restorative yoga classes by Prajna (Thu - 5:45pm, Sun - 5pm). There is a sense of community here, like everyone knows everyone else, and most of the members have been welcoming of me. This goes a long way in making me like the place because in the end, even if the classes are great, I wouldn't be keen on going back to the studio if I felt uneasy/unwelcome in the environment. I'm giving this studio 4 stars only because I wish there were more basics classes + the studio is a little on the smaller side! Otherwise, I'm really happy to be living so close to Just Breathe and hope to continue my practice with them for a long time :) read more

Like another Yelp reviewer I also experienced the unexpected wrath of the owner Angie. I was completely blown away by her bad attitude when I showed up with my Groupon in hand and wanted to try out my 5 classes. I won't get into details to keep this review brief, but the owner's attitude made it very hard for me to relax and enjoy my yoga session. The studio looks clean, but I don't like how the room is shaped long and narrow, since it makes it impossible to see the instructor from the back. Having mirrors along the side wall would help other students check their form too since I couldn't see myself in the one front mirror. The yoga classes I took were advertised as "heated" but it wasn't nearly as warm as most other "heated" yoga classes. It was 75 degrees, which might suit some people more, but I like the temperature at Cindy's Hot Yoga which is more like 85-90 degrees, or the heated classes at YogaSource which are a little hotter than that. I've only taken three classes so far but it does look like this studio is catered more to beginners or people looking to do more gentle stretching rather than get a workout. This studio doesn't have any power yoga classes as far as I can tell. There's one class for working on core on Wed night, but even that's pretty gentle compared to other studios. That instructor is pretty good though, and nicer than Angie at least. I'd also give the owner a couple of pieces of advice: 1. Don't treat new customers like a disobedient toddler if they haven't registered on your website before coming to the studio. Other studios don't have such strict policies so we're not used to that. 2. Don't park your butt in the front row of every class you're sitting in on, when you have paying customers struggling to find space in your tiny studio and nobody past the first row can see themselves. I'll try another one of my Groupon sessions when another instructor is teaching, but I'm 100% sure I won't be a repeat customer of this place when there are so many better studios out here. read more

I don't understand some of the stink-eye reviews here. I've been going here for almost a month now and have thoroughly enjoyed it. In fact, I am officially an addict! 1. Studio: Yes, it's on the smaller side. But that's no reason to knock a place - I mean it's not like the owners can wave a magical wand and make the place bigger. Even with the crowded class, the instructor's make a conscious effort to make room for everyone. It's tight in the crowded sessions but I've never had my face bump into a sweaty butt. Otherwise, the facility itself is super clean and nice and rarely smells (unless someone forget to shower - *ahem* you know who you all are!) 2. Heat: The heat is always at around 90 and that's the way I like it. Any hotter and I think I might pass out and die. If you want to melt then go take Bikram. If you want a challenging Yoga at a tolerable (yet HOT) heat, then come here. Vinayasa + Heated Yoga = mucho calories burned! 3. Instructors: I have no idea why some people here have issues with Angie - Angie has been helpful and kind to me and my mother-in-law since we started here. Signing up is a breeze and she gets back to you uber fast via email! Seriously, what do you want from her? To have her bend over backwards and do somersaults (which I'm sure she's capable of). Anyhow, if you want a challenging class I highly recommend Nate's Core Conditioning class - it's the most popular one I've been to and it's a butt kicker. Think Insanity meats Yoga. Noelle, Kevyn and Angie are also more challenging instructors. I'm immensely impressed that Angie can do half the moves she does at 8 months preggo! I've also been to Monique and Nisha's classes and they are also equally great. :) Bottom line, this place rocks. I've been doing a combination of Insanity/Jillian Michael's and running for the past few months and just recently incorporated Yoga into my exercise regime. I've been trying to get into shape after having two kids back to back and I feel that the Yoga is what really helped me get there. My flexibility has increased, my core is super strong and I feel so relaxed and refreshed after my session. In fact now, most days I just do Yoga and running and I seriously feel great. So don't listen to the haters, JBY is awesome and I am grateful to them for helping me get back into shape! P.S. I'm not sure how people don't think that the yoga here is not challenging. I've done Insanity and I still find JBY challenging. I see guys with six packs here that struggle in the class. So either you went to an "easy" instructor or you are inhuman. read more

i've seen lots of strange reviews on yelp, and lots of people being picky about things i would consider trivial. The same goes for reviews about this studio. "the bamboo floor stinks"... ehm.. the floor is cork, and it doesnt stink, maybe its your upper lip. "i prefer the temp to be 105" ... ehm... this isnt bikram. "nobody answers the phone" .... ehm... it isnt staffed unless there is class "the classes are packed" .... ehm... welcome to the bay area "if you want a workout, do bikram" ... ehm... sweat =/= calories... vinyasa actually burns more, look it up The vibe at this studio is what got me hooked. Its ran like a small business, because it is a small business. The owner is constantly around, and the instructors are all very personable. The studio is only manned before and during classes to keep overhead costs down, but the owner has spared no expense at keeping the place clean. This place is like Cheers, everybody knows your name. No, they dont serve beer. They serve sunshine, hard work, and great results. If you want to be treated like an individual in a unique atmosphere, give it a shot. read more

I admit, I was scared (and then subsequently scarred) the first time I had ever tried yoga. One of my girlfriends took me to Bikram, and didn't inform me that I shouldn't eat anything beforehand... which meant I spent 90% of my time in Savasana, or, as would have been more appropriate for my state of being at that time: corpse pose. Fast forward a few years: I hesitatingly give yoga a second chance, I learn to love it. Fast forward a year and a half from that point: I find Just Breathe Yoga, I fall fast and hard after my first class. I think any kind of yoga is more enjoyable once you know the basics, but heated yoga in particular is infinitely better when you have a solid foundation and can really push yourself to go further in your practice. Keep in mind, JBY isn't Bikram... but it's definitely heated! It's incredible, though, to practice in such conditions (yes, even in the already hot heat of Silicon Valley) -- my practice went way deeper every time I went to class, probably because my muscles were so much looser and more malleable. And I love that the instructors aren't afraid to adjust you when you're in a pose; I think that's the best way to really learn, because sometimes those few tiny centimeters make all the difference in the world, especially in a pose like half pigeon or warrior two. The studio is small, but they make a concerted effort (with sign ins, etc) to make sure that no class is ever too, too crowded... though there have been a few classes where I've been verrryyy close to my neighbor, but, hey, it's all good. It's a place of shining hearts and no judgment. I have had the opportunity to practice with Noelle, whose classes push me beyond "just" yoga and really challenge me physically; Monique, whose presence is calming and helps me get into the mental side of yoga; Candace, whose Thai yoga moves make me want to hop on the next flight to the other side of the world; and Phoenix, whose bubbly personality and back-to-basics approach make me remember: oh yes, this is why I love yoga. All in all, an awesome studio filled with awesome instructors... Just Breathe, you're just fabulous. read more

I feel like I'm obligated to write a review because I absolutely adores this studio and cannot believe that there were actually bad reviews! I started coming here after I got the 5 classes groupon. It is the perfect location for me because it's about half way between my home and my work and a mere 5 minutes drive if I want a quick lunch time break. The studio is small but that also allows the instructors to help me whenever needed. The maximum I've seen is about 25 people in one class, that's is less than half of what 24 hours has! Some people complained that the studio has a large window on the side as oppose to mirrors. However that is one of the reasons I love the place. It allows me to look outside, feel the sunshine, and connect with the earth. read more

This is a response to Angie's post. The room is tiny to begin with, so when you jam pack the room with people it won't be a pleasant experience. A clear indication would be filling up the room and even having to squeeze extra people in between the aisle. I bumped into the lady next to me a couple of times when I did my yoga poses. You have your instructors even having to remind people to be careful to not bump into anyone. If there was plenty of space, I am sure that statement wouldn't even come out of their mouth. You're in a prime location. It's just too bad this business model sucks. I can't even refer friends to this place because I had such a bad experience! read more

I purchased the 2 week intro offer for $25.00 and was super excited to try my first session of heated yoga. Let's just start by saying that if you are looking for a friendly, welcoming, and informative studio then this is NOT the studio for you. Don't even bother trying to call the number listed on the website because no one will ever answer. Pay for your membership and register for your class online before you decide to step foot in this studio. I arrived 15mins before class started. The girl at the front desk immediately acknowledged that I was a new student and asked me if I registered online already. I responded: yes and she responded with a sigh of relief. I signed in for the class and the rest was up to me. What really bugs me about this place is the LACK of CUSTOMER SERVICE. The receptionist did not bother explaining or saying a word to me after I signed in. The studio does not offer beginners yoga, so if you sign up for the Vinyasa class be prepared to feel confused. I never went back to this studio after my first session and don't plan on recommending this place to anyone at my work or in the neighborhood. My advice to the owner is to pick up the business number listed on the website and step up the customer service. Nobody wants to go where they don't feel welcomed., especially when money is involved. read more

I am in the process of trying out different yoga studios to see which one I'll stick with in the end...I've tried Yoga @ Cindy's (loved it), will try Almaden Yoga, Balance Yoga and a few others in the future, if you want to follow my reviews and see how I liked them. So, I decided to get a on board for their 2 week special. They now have a special for one month, which I would have loved to get, but they are not offering them concurrently. It's either one or the other. Classes I took: - Ishmael's classes were my favorite and they are packed, so come early! He has an amazing attitude and he is so soft spoken...He corrects your posture and he's simply a delight to take yoga with. I would consider purchasing a class card just to take his classes. Love his massages at the end of class...the candles he sets on the floor at the beginning of class...The attention to detail is wonderful. -Noelle - I took both yoga with her as well as an abs class and liked both. The abs class is definitely worth taking as she works you pretty good:) -Nate - tried his conditioning class which was probably the best conditioning class I had ever taken at a yoga studio so far. I work out quite often ( I do karate and crossfit) and I am in shape, but was sore after his class. I have not taken Angie, yet, but I'll take her class next week. One thing I have to tell you about Angie, though, is that I have e-mailed her several times about some issues I had with their website and she kindly replied right away. She was always helpful and willing to help. The studio: there's always plenty of parking on the street or in the parking lots in front or behind the studio. the studio is a good size and they have 2 restrooms; which is a big plus as most studios only have one. I just moved to the area from out of state and glad to find a nice friendly studio near where I live again. Today was my first visit here, I went to an early morning class at 6:45am. I was one of the 3 student there, and Christine was a great instructor. She was very welcoming, warm, and kind. I donated some $ since it was a donation class. Christine said she's new at teaching, but quite good and thorough. I will definitely come back. The studio however is small, so I am not sure about going to later hour classes. read more

Prenatal Yoga with Rupali at Just Breathe Yoga has been outstanding. I hadn't been to this studio before this pregnancy so I wasn't sure what to expect when I signed up for the 6-week Prenatal Series. Although you do have the option to pay the drop-in fee for each class, it's a better deal to pay for the series. If you're hesitant about signing up for a whole 6-week series, I would recommend dropping in for the last session of a series to check out the classes. Unlike normal yoga classes, a Prenatal Yoga class begins with each mom-to-be introducing herself and sharing any issues she has been facing in the last week. Rupali listens to each mom and gives recommendations as to what can be helpful in each situation. She then uses the information that moms have shared to address the most common complaints (i.e., back ache, shoulder pain, etc.) Rupali's class might feel intense in the beginning, but after a few classes you get used to the flow and start appreciating the benefits of a class that builds your strength for when you need it most. Labor and delivery are some of the most challenging moments in a woman's life, and the stronger you are when you experience them, the better. read more

I attended Rupali's classes since 12 weeks of pregnancy until 36 weeks. She is much experienced and knowledgeable in dealing with the aches and pains during different stages of pregnancy. This knowledge, coupled with her diligence in addressing everyone's issues at the beginning of each session lets you enjoy maximum benefit out of it. A bit of meditation in the beginning, tailored poses and a soothing music through out the session helps relieving the stress. She helps in understanding how vital breathing techniques are and how they can help during the labor. She advised me on poses that are helpful in early labor. In essence, yoga is indeed a beautiful way to enjoy the 9 month journey with less discomfort and be proactive in making pregnancy and delivery a positive experience, and this class helps you to get there ! LOVEEE YOGA! Ever since this place opened up next to my house I've been hooked into doing yoga. I've been to pretty much all of the different instructor's classes and though each one is a little different from one another, I still feel so satisfied after a class! One of my favorite classes is Noelle's Hardcore Ab classes. If you're looking to workout that core for the summer, this is definitely the class! I'm still sore even days after the class! Each yoga session is different from one another but it's really nice that it is! There is no monotony and they're really specific into training all your different muscles. It can sometimes get packed so definitely take advantage of their online schedule. The studio itself is really nice and clean and the instructors regularly use the blankets and blocks into their classes. Angie is the owner of the studio and she is soooo friendly and welcoming so if you're a newcomer, don't be afraid to ask her any questions! read more

Vinyasa Flow yoga is great! Not as stifling at 104 degrees Bikram, but you get a sweat going on. Angie is a great instructor with a calming voice. My favorite aspects of the instructors I've had, where that they would correct you. I don't know what I'm doing and to have someone personally walk over and help me adjust and align my self correctly is the best part. I think I'm on the road to addition to Vinyasa flow yoga. I even ordered a new mat. I talk about it extensively to my friends and family that live near me. Am I a bit obsessed? Am I also dragging the bf whenever I can? Answers all lead to YES! One of my favorite yoga studios in The Bay, the heated Vinyasa classes are great exercise and the instructors are all amazing. Really is a great atmosphere and the owner is extremely friendly and attentive. Only thing is that the classes are first come first served, and it can get crowded at times but it's not the end of the world - if you're claustrophbic, than sure, but from my view I haven't had any issues. read more

A little background about me - My husband and I recently lost a lot of weight recently. He lost over 50lbs. and I have lost over 40lbs so far. My husband is 43 and I am 34. My husband has NO flexibility in his back. He can't touch his toes and seems like the the opposite of someone who would enjoy yoga. I am flexible, but I have very little strength, my wrists are weak and after too many 'downward facing dogs' my feet tend to cramp. Another less than ideal candidate for yoga. We came to yoga in an effort to do strength training to tone up areas that had been, basically, sedentary until 4 months ago when we started dieting and excercising. The reason I love this place is because of how I feel when I am done with a session of yoga here. Although the majority of classes are called Heated Vinyasa Flow, the truth is that each instructor has their own style and technique. No two instructors classes are the same. Except in one area - the teachers are all incredibly kind with their instruction and correction of poses. And, most importantly, they encourage each student to do the classes at their individual skill levels. I do recommend that you take a basics class in order to learn the names of the poses. Some of the instructors in the advanced classes will not demonstrate all of the poses for you, and if you don't know the names you can get a little confused. Of course, you can simply look around you at the other students and catch up, but it is more enjoyable if you are able to keep up in real time. On the subject of the basics class, I cannot say enough good things about Ishmael. I love his demeanor, I love his attitude, and I love his voice (this is important when the teacher is keeping up a constant flow of dialogue). Ishmael is generous with compliments as well as encouragment. He also remembered my and my husband's names after 2 classes, which was very simple, but made us feel welcome. During the heated classes the room is kept between 85-92 degrees depending on the instructor. For any who have done bikram this will be a wonderful experience. Although the room is cooler than bikram (105-100 degrees) I find that I am able challenge myself more because I am not crippled by the heat, but I still get to SWEAT! For those who have not done any kind of heated yoga, I cannot stress enough how helpful the mild heat is to your flexibility. I do not consider myself tremendously spiritual, but when you sweat the way you do in these classes, you can't help feeling like you are expelling every negative fluid from your body. It is awesome. I don't want to leave out Tuesday nights with Noelle. The class is called Hard Core Abs - but I don't like that name, it sounds too "commercial gym" to me, and it doesn't really give you the right idea. Yes, you will feel every centimeter of your abs two days after taking this class... but you will also feel almost every other muscle you have never used as well. The class is a mix of yoga, pilates, and...HELL... just kidding :) but maybe a touch of old school strength exercises thrown in. Noelle is a wonderful teacher. She is energetic and positive, but not to the point where you want to kill her when you are shaking all over trying to hold your leg up for that extra 5 count. My husband could literally FEEL the increased muscle after taking this class once. To sum up. I love this place, because after losing a combined total of 90lbs together, my husband and I love the way we feel when we are done taking classes here. Yoga really is for everyone, and if you are tempted to try it, I recommend you try it here. read more

My review is long overdue - I've been happily attending yoga here for over a year. Like many people I sit at a computer all day. Coming here allows me to get exercise, relaxation, focus and relief to my stiff muscles - all in 90 minutes :) The instructors are all great, each different. Try them all and you'll find something that suits you - whether it's powerful flow yoga with a cohesive energy throughout the class, a basics approach with a peaceful focus, or a positive, fun environment that allows you to get a fantastic workout while having a good time and caring for your body. I started attending this studio with my colleague who attends the Yin Yoga class with Alix. I quickly realized that I loved the class and used my two week pass to explore different types of classes. So far I've taken the Gentle Flow and Heated Vinyasa classes with Nicole and Angie. All of these teachers are amazing! They each bring something unique to the experience and encourage everyone to embrace their own comfort levels and energies. Highly recommend! read more

as part of a promotion for national yoga month, i was given a one week pass to practise at any participating yoga studio in my area. i chose just breathe since i had walked/driven by this studio many times, but never had the opportunity to stop in and enjoy a class. their classes are quite good and they offer a variety of styles such as vinyasa flow, restorative/yin, and bhakti flow. some classes are heated (warm, but not as hot as bikram) and some are not (room temperature). the vinyasa flow classes were great, since they all featured heart and hip openers, which were really beneficial to my tight muscles. i also enjoyed the restorative classes which were a great complement to my demanding running and personal schedule. i really like the two bathrooms which also come with showers so you can shower after class and go straight to work. parking is always plentiful as there is a lot right next to the building that houses the studio. teachers are fantastic and really strive to know your name and help you with adjustments, etc. my only complaint is that there is only one practise room in the studio which is on the small side, especially when i compare it to other yoga studios. once you reach about 12 or 15 students, the room is pretty much full and feels a bit cramped. overall, a very nice studio and i would recommend just breathe to all yogis, whether at the beginner or master level. read more

I can NOT believe there are bad reviews about this yoga studio! So, I felt the need to write another review about this place. I LOVE Just Breathe Yoga. Absolutely LOVE this studio. And, trust me, I've hopped around from studio to studio, and finally (very happily) settled on this one. The instructors are AWESOME. Noelle's classes are very refreshing. She shares a bit of her insight and perspective on life at the beginning of class. And every time, I've found myself feeling very encouraged by her words, which allows me to truly set an intention going into the practice. Angie, the owner, is my favourite! Her classes are a workout! I like that she is able to gauge your level of practice, and will push you a bit further if she feels like you can take it to the next level. She's completely approachable, and a great instructor. I felt very welcomed by her right off the bat. They recently added a new class - Core and Strength Conditioning with Nate. I love that they added this class since it's not quite yoga, but would probably enhance your yoga practice. There are push-ups, lunges, and some ab work. The class pretty much kicked my butt, and I can't wait to go back! This place is very well-maintained, super clean, and the instructors are great. Definitely one of the better yoga studios out there.
