todays date. Sept 10th 2025. Richie came out to look at my 90hp Mercury outboard motor last week. He ordered a new electrical harness. 'when he was at the house he did manage to get power to the dash. He hold me the part would be delivered to his house in a few days. I called and he said the part came in and he would be here either last Friday or over the weekend. I keep calling and he has not returned my calls. I took my boat to Boat Pros in Brentwood yesterday. They just called me to inform my the entire electrical system in the motor is fried. it is going to be cheaper to purchase a new motor. Mr. Tanner at boat pro's believes this is why Richie is not returning my calls. I. took Bengal action on another company a few years ago. it the small claims court I was awarded the sum. Then the contractor filed bankruptcy and did not have t o pay the money I was awarded. Laws need to be changed around this. Where a contractor that files a bankruptcy should not be able to avoid paying what they owe. read more

Richie took $800 from me to order parts and to have a heat exchanger repaired. Two months later we agreed to meet at the boat to finish up. I drove 180 miles but he never showed and would not answer texts, phone calls or emails. I had to pay for the heat exchanger repair again, drive over, again, to pick up the heat exchanger up from the radiator shop and never saw the money, the parts "ordered" or Richie again. I called Richie on Tuesday. He didn't call back until the next day and he said he was too busy to help me until next week but we needed the boat this weekend. So he walked me through a few things and found the problem my other boat mechanic missed in 3 trips to my place. Better yet, he didn't even charge me for the phone call!!! Lack of communication, impossible to get a hold of, delay after delay after delay, then changes story or outright lies about what the state of repair is, neglects/leaves your vessel exposed to the weather elements and decaying in his yard, the insults just go on and on and on, even after giving him every benefit of the doubt along the way. When I was finally able to get my waverunner from Ritchie after 5 months of BS, he dropped it off without the seat and in shambles. Now I'm at my wits end just trying to get my seat back and get him out of my life. I'm down to taking him to court to retrieve my personal property, and may also consider filing other charges as well as reporting him to the BBB. He has no business being in business. F'n ridiculous. I met Ritchie over a year ago. I had my boat parked in outside storage at Lake Berryessa and the top had ripped and the boat became flooded with water, engine compartment and all. I looked and looked on YP, local searches in Contra Costa County and couldn't find anyone. So I did a Yelp and I found Ritchie with great reviews. We hit it off right away and initially the reviews were dead on. He went and got my boat at Berryessa and brought to his "shop" got the boat running, or so he said. There were a few other problems that went along with the flooding and he said he would fix it. A few months went by and he said he was working on the boat still, good news was the engine could be saved but some other things needed to be repaired.I said ok, fix what needs to be repaired. Another several months went by and I couldn't get a hold of him. I kept trying and trying but no luck. It's been almost a year and my wife finally put her foot down and said get the boat. I was able to FINALLY reach Richie after many, many months and he said yeah, the boats ready, I asked when could I pick it up? He said he could deliver it to my house on a Thursday (2.5 weeks ago.) Next time I finally spoke to him, after MANY attempts again, he said I could come pick it up on 4/6/15 at his "shop" I went there at the designated time and he didn't show. I waited 1.5 hours. I finally walked on the to compound and saw my boat. I was in shock! The boat was filthy inside and out, he said he would wax it but that was only partially done. I looked inside the boat where I saw leaves, dirt, my fuse box hanging out from under the dash and some other items in the boat as well. I was flabbergasted, all those things he said he would do were all lies. I could always say more but I think you all get the idea of what happened. I WOULD NEVER, EVER take my boat and leave it with this guy. He's a liar and a HUGE FLAKE. Totally unresponsive to his customers and has NO clue how to run a business. Yes, good mechanic but if you want to have him do anything to your boat have him do it at your house. RITCHIE GETS IT DONE! I am a first time Jet ski owner who purchased a Seadoo out of impluse, a 1998 Seadoo GTX LTD, only to realize once I put it on the water that it didn't run. Being new to PWCs I didnt know who to go to and was very naive on what to expect and how much to expect to spend on repairs. I got quotes at different "professional" shops, Ski Clinic, Star Marine and they quoted me at $1000-1500 and told me they would need to hold my Seadoo for weeks! I dont know much about Seadoo engines so I am an easy target to be taken advantage of for an expensive repair job. Luckily I got a hold of Ritchie through CL and over text messages, within 30 minutes, he had diagnosed my Seadoo's problems and quoted me at HUGE discount. In one day, Ritchie replaced all my fuel lines, cleaned and rebuilt my 2 carbs, changed my oil, replaced my spark plugs, cleaned my valves, charged my battery, washed the Seadoo and rewired my trailer! AT 1/3 THE PRICE! I had my seadoo on the water the next day! BOTTOM LINE If u want someone who can look at your watercraft, diagnose the problem and fix it. Ritchie is that guy, he knows his stuff really really well, he is certified and he has a deep passion for fixing water crafts. He is a cool dude who will not only fix your watercraft but if u want he will teach you how to fix it and maintain it yourself. Thankfully, Ritchie is still in town for the next month or two. This guy is so crazy. I'm not sure he intentionally scams people he probably just smokes so much meth that he can't function at all. Our boat had a engine problem but ran. Took it to him and he had it for 4 months with out looking at it. Finally I told him I was picking it up if it was fixed or not. He detailed the boat and charged us for it when I didn't ask him to and took all our stuff out of the boat and lost it. Then he gave us other peoples stuff, like life vests and a wake board. The boat did not run at all after I got it from him. I took it to another mechanic and the engine had a walking cam and was shot. I'm so happy he detailed it and charged me $800 and lost three brand new life vests and a cover. I wish someone would put him out of business for good. read more

Where do I start ? OK , so at all cost I tried to avoid this guy .. But ,There's another guy on yelp named "Dinos marine service" . He has a YouTube channel so I felt comfortable with choosing Dino first .. It just so happens that Dino retired this year and is no longer in business but he still wanted to help me anyway he can so he referred Richie.. At the time I didn't realize it was this company "just in time" until I got back on yelp (Sunday night) and recognized his number . After reading all the negative comments I can really see the similarities in which Business was handled ..SMH just my luck lol. I have a lot of mixed emotions about this guy . Although he somewhat got the job done I wouldn't say that I'm satisfied nor would I recommend him to a friend. If you're going to do business with him make sure you go to his house. I'm very lucky to have been able to drop off my motor to his house just in case he flaked because I know where he is (considering what I've read). Off the bat He seemed like a cool guy ,fairly knowledgeable and slightly sketchy ( from a keen eye)... We chatted for five minutes and told him the problem with my carburetor.. "Ok , easy fix it'll be done tonight/early tomorrow morning you can come get it" . That was last Thursday. He flaked out on Friday and so we agreed that I'd pick it up Saturday morning 9am. On my way to his house he texted me and told me he needed more time. "Awhile" was his reply when I ask for an estimated time to come back(his replies are short) .. 11:45am I get a text saying "it's done". When I get there he asked me to set everything up SMH. We got the motor started and it seemed OK but he started to tinker with one thing after the other which led to my idol knob being "off a bit".. After one hour and 15min of him tinkering around I decide to leave. He tells me it will be done later on that night.. Of course it didn't happen and all day Sunday he strung me along and told me it will be done for sure Monday morning. Fortunately I have been able to retrieve my motor and it's running ok for now , however I did get stuck out on the water but I don't know if that was my fault because of the gas tank vent needed to be all the way up and my motor sputtered back to dock (it probably got pushed back down while in motion ). When I tried to start it again my starter rope broke smh so I couldn't get back out on the water. But as soon as I got home I fixed my starter rope ,started my motor and she seemed to run fine (but who knows until I'm actually back on the water pulling the throttle ) . His communication with me was better than most , thankfully.. He said he would change my plugs and do a lower unit Oil change while he was at it , but he told me he didn't get to change the plugs , so I'm certain he didn't do a lower unit oil change. He did clean my carburetor . I was running on half choke before I brought it to him so I know he at least cleaned/addressed the clog the jet. But the deal was that he was going to order and install a new carburetor kit smh .. All for that I spent $100... If you're going to do businesses with somebody make sure it feels right.. I tried to avoid this.. It just happened.. i'm just happy to have my motor back ! 2 stars for good Communication and returning my motor after a little bit of persistence ! read more

Had an experience unlike some reviewers here. Richie, the owner, appears to be very busy but made time for me to do a full service on my outboard so I could head to Southern Oregon as scheduled. Richie pointed out several things I could do to improve the motor's performance and longevity. He seems to enjoy teaching folks about their boats. Richie worked on my 76 Evinrude 115 V4. He rebuilt the carbs since my motor wouldn't idle easily. He saw that my carbs were leaking fuel and recommended that I replace my fuel lines. I took my boat to Lake Berryessa and it ran MUCH MUCH better and idled easily. It took the stress out of the trip, thanks Richie. BTW, he came to my house and used my air and power.
