I went in for a lip wax and I showed up early I asked if I could be seen earlier and they said yes.I think the girls name was Jessica, she took me in the back, has me lay down and puts the wax right on my lip. I asked her if she needed to clean and prep the skin before hand(my daughter is going to beauty school and I've gotten my lip waxed many times by professionals.She said that she only does it for clients who are wearing make up. I was wearing makeup and the skin should be cleansed every single time before causing micro tears and exposing you to bacteria. Then she ripped the wax off with out using a proper technique and ripped the wax off my face like she was ripping off a bandage really quick.My lip still feels sensitive to the touch and is visibly swollen and red. I have an important event tomorrow. I am upset to have to show up looking like this. I felt that I was treated poorly and ignored when asked about proper cleanlines. read more

I am amending my review to reflect the owner's reply. She is correct when she stated all her stylists were experienced and did not call them experts. The stylist's business card suggested expertise. My error. The replacement stylist was nice and may have been experienced. However, the hair wash was desultory and the blowout did not reflect experience with my type of hair. No customer should ever be subjected to any stylist change without prior knowledge. That was upsetting enough but to discover she was not the better choice was disingenuous. Insinuating my behavior upset her staff is wrong and misleading. To be sure, I was not happy but remained calm and did not make a scene. I tipped the stylist 25% and thanked her. I wish the owner well and hope no other customer ever has a similar experience. The staff is competent but the owner could use a customer service refresher course. Two out of three visits brought unwelcome surprises. I had appointments with specific people but when I got to the salon, they had been switched to someone else. The owner made the switches and did not have the courtesy to call first and ask me if it was OK. Both times, after voicing my concern about the switch, I went with the new stylist. Both times I was disappointed. The first time it happen, the owner said all her stylists were experienced. I replied that they all might be experienced but not everyone is competent with every kind of hair. She repeated it and stood her ground. My worst fears came true. On the bright side, my hair is clean, although it wasn't a great shampoo, either. On the downside, my hair is neither soft nor shiny, the two things I requested and was assured would happen. What does one do? The person at the reception desk apologized and encouraged me to call the owner. I don't believe one could be civil to an unpleasant owner who appears to need to always be right. My hair neither looks good nor feels good. My only recourse is this Yelp review. I wish I could say positive things but cannot. read more

Always a good experience at Just Paradise! We have been going here for years and they are friendly and competent. We have brought out grandkids here many times and they are very good with children. My wife has been coming here for years to use the tanning facilities and they are always clean and sanitary and well maintained. Highly recommended. read more

Heather was wonderful and helped me to fix some highlights gone wrong. She listened really well and was extremely helpful and asked great questions to ensure she understood. She worked magic and was a great conversationalist- balancing quiet and discussions like a pro. I had an excellent experience and would highly recommend it! The prices are also fantastic. The environment is lovely, open, breezy and comfortable. It also smells really good in the shop (faint- not too strong). I was even greeted with a warm cup of coffee! The Fairy Tails Lice Good-Bye "survival kit" was highly recommended to me by a friend. This brand is not sold in stores, and although you can order it online from their company website, I was grateful to find out Just Paradise sells this line. The price online for the kit, which included the removal moose, repel spray, hair sectional tool and "terminator" comb, was $29.95. Before making the trip over there I called to make sure they had it in stock. I was told they had "one left", and it was $30. She told me she would set it aside for me. When I came in, to my surprise the item for $30 was not the kit, but just the individual removal moose, or the "step one" of the kit. The comb, also sold separately, was priced at $17.50! They did not sell the kits and only the individual items. It almost looked as if she had ordered a bunch of kits and then took them all apart to sell the items individually, all at exceedingly unreasonable prices. If I had purchased all four items the kit had contained, I would have spent over $60! Most people need all of the items in the kit; you can't just do step 1 without step 2, etc. When I asked if they could honor the price of the kit, I was told no. I will take my business elsewhere. Although I have never met the owner, she sounds like a greedy person who likes to take advantage of her customers. I ordered the kit online for $29.95. read more

If yelp had the option of zero star I would have given that. I went to get my brow,upper lip and chin waxed and the salon staff(Brandi) BURNT my upper lip in the process. When I checked myself in the mirror I got to know. Forget about apologies, she charged me $5 extra to which she gave the reason that prices have increased. Though she gave me 2drops of aloe gel, I think apology is the bare minimum after a so-called professional burns the customer's skin. Highly unprofessional attitude.. read more

After a frustrating search for hairstylist in the area willing to accommodate a bridal party, my cupcake lady referred me to Just Paradise. When I called and got the pricing information, I was a little skeptical because it seemed so reasonably price--a contrast to most other vendors' wedding prices. I went in for my hair trial about 3 weeks prior to my wedding and they had me pay for everything right then so I would not have to worry about any transactions the day of, which was great. Tammy worked on my hair and though we didn't get the exact do down that day, she got an idea of how my hair worked as well as what my style was. On the wedding day, we pulled in to be greeted by a cute chalk board sign outside that said, "Happy Wedding Day Erin!" When we went inside we discovered fruit-champagne cocktails and cream puffs to make us feel special. It is a quiet and comfortable atmosphere that is very reasonably priced. Katie did an amazing job on my cut and balayage! She did everything exactly as I asked for, and it is the most natural looking color I have gotten between a few different stylists. My bridesmaids and I got our wedding makeup done last weekend! This salon was amazing. Had cute happy wedding day signs awaiting us, along with strawberries, chocolates, and pastries. Worst haircut ever told her I was going to Hawaii wanted to look good. My normal barber was closed I asked if they do men's cuts the said of course. Acted as if she never did one...she should have been honest and said No that I would be better off somewhere else. I got a haircut here a couple of weeks ago. The atmosphere was very inviting and first impressions were good. When I met my hairdresser, she was rude and did not seem attentive to my hair. She seemed more worried about what she was going to have for lunch. I needed to have a few inches taken off due to split ends and dead ends. Unfortunately, there were still split ends and my hair did not seem to be that much better after the haircut. The layers were done sloppily and after two weeks, my hair is in a worse state than what it was when I went in. Perhaps the scissors needed to be sharpened or replaced because I now have split ends on the majority of my hair. In addition, the hair dresser was extremely inconsiderate of her nails and scratched my scalp and ears while washing my hair. This was not a $40 haircut and I was extremely disappointed with the results, how I was treated, and the overall attitude of the employees that I interacted with (i.e. Receptionist and hair dresser). On another note, a friend went here the same day and had a different person for a wash, cut, and color. She had a wonderful experience. Heather did her hair and she plans to return. My sister has beautiful, curly hair. She went in for a messy, natural up-do for prom. After an hour the woman, Tracy, could not do anything that looked remotely pretty. I went to Just Paradise based on a co-worker's recommendation - I saw Tracey for a haircut and I am very happy. I moved from California a year and a half ago, and I had gone to three different stylists in the Hanover area over that time - I have a short, pixie style haircut and everyone made me look like a little boy (I stuck it out almost a year with one stylist with no luck!). Disappointed. New to the area, looking for a new tanning salon. This place was minimal on the customer service, leaving me standing at the front desk alone, not greeting me, not giving me information on their services and when they did it was scarce. If you want my business, I would assume you would show me what you have to offer. They then accidentally shorted my tanning session by 4 minutes and told me it was my misunderstanding when I voiced the problem. After figuring out that there was actually a problem they did not provide an adequate solution and I left not wanting to return, even for my shorted time. Lastly, they were $2 more expensive for a single tan session than comparable places within 2-7 miles. read more

i like it there, the people are helpful, they listen to concerns and what your looking for in your hair cut. they make you feel wanted. they are very fast at washing, cutting, styling your hair. they are very careful when they do any type of waxing there. i've never had an issue there since they've been around. read more

Don't go to this salon. Poor service - unfriendly staff. I don't know whose running this place, but it's always a mess. Also, they open and close whenever they feel like it - I have gone there several times within operating hours just to find a hand written note on the door that says "sorry - closed early." When I tried to talk to a manager about it they got angry at ME - and said they can close early if they want to regardless of what the posted hours on their sign are. So ridiculous for a business to treat their customers this way. I went to another salon - one that actually opens and closes at the times they're supposed to and makes customers feel appreciated. read more
