I really dragged my feet on letting someone else do my taxes but finally listened to a teacher friend (teachers tend to have very good recommendations I find) and wish I had come here years ago. I would have saved myself a lot of stress and probably a lot of money too. Despite using Turbo Tax, the IRS supposedly found mistakes every year. WTH?! Also, Turbo Tax isn't transparent. They completely glossed over the fact that the student loan interest was being changed/ in a gray area. I had to do all the research myself, no help on a pretty important tax issue from TT at all!! That day I gave her a folder with my accounts and all the documents needed for my taxes. She emailed me about 3 times asking some questions and for some docs. I was driving around last Saturday.....at 4:00 PM looking for a notary. Because I'm avoidant and procrastinate fiendishly. At 5:00 PM, after hitting every bank, insurance company, taco stand and abandoned building in town, I decided to give up (was forced to accept I was late again) and started on my way home. Suddenly, my son sees another 'notary' sign on a window. We pull over....again. I feel hopeless....again. When suddenly, my son yells out to me 'SHES CLOSING....BUT SHE'S OPENING BACK UP FOR US.' And she literally was closing and opening back up for us. I saw her keys. Long story short, she was so lovely. Sweet. Calm. Nice. Chill. While she was doing whatever notarys do with the paperwork I needed notarized, I commented that I really liked one of her plants. (She has gorgeous plants.) She not only told me the name of the plant (which I was actually super curious about but too shy to ask), she gave me a HUGE cutting. I'm looking at it as I type this. I had so much anxiety that day and she just melted it away. 'Just Relax'. Totally. Her office was also really clean, smelled good and had beautiful plants. I feel like I'd go back just to be in there for the chillness and nice vibe. Even writing this review and thinking about that day has me feeling relaxed. A little. But that's a lot for me! BEWARE!!!!!!!! awful, irresponsible, sloppy. After I had her work on my tax return and paid her (she charges a fair price) my friends told me to be careful as she has a reputation for sloppy work. So I checked her work against 2 other local tax services and each one could get me more money back and pay less taxes. Although the cost was $100 more, I paid much much less to the IRS. Everybody says she uses a basic system that you could do at home, collects her fee, and off you go. Learned my lesson the hard by not going to a union friendly business that cost me almost $2000.00 !! And when I asked her why she said she'd call me back. Never heard back from her. read more
