Another of Ponca city's favorite place and WHY? I can't understand. Where to start, well first off, place is disturbingly filthy, and I don't mean from being busy. Comes from years of neglect. Steak special I ordered was wayyyy overpriced and not very good. Staff was in dirty, greasy clothes and I'm sure you wouldn't want to see the kitchen. Love the food here, the buffet is even good and I don't care for buffets. I would give them 5 stars, but the cleanliness could be improved upon. Some updates would be good too. Not talking fancy, just carpet and paint the walls so it doesn't look so dirty. read more

I'm not sure as to what has happened to Cobbs of late. In the past it has been a good little cafe in which to enjoy down home style comfort food at a reasonable price, but lately our past few experiences were less than enjoyable. This past Thursday a small group (5) of us stopped in for dinner. Our orders were taken by a very cordial waitress, but it took over 40 minutes to finally receive our dinners, which were over cooked, dry and lukewarm at best. I don't necessarily feel this was the waitstaff's fault, but I was also concerned with the fact that two other groups, which arrived and were seated after our group, received their orders long before we received ours. In talking with others who have been to Cobb's in the past few weeks have also noted a decrease in food quality and service provided by the cafe. This is not a favorable trend and it will probably be quite some time before or if we return to Cobb's in the future, which is regrettable, as it has been a good place to eat in the past. read more

Cobb's is an institution in Ponca. There are three Cobb's listed here onYelp. They are the same and there is only the one location. If you are looking for a yuppie restaurant with "Hi Guys" waiters and froo froo food then you are in the wrong place. Here you are likely to be greeted by "Hon" and you will be seated next to a farmer in bib-overalls who is having his dinner at 1:00 in the afternoon. And what a meal it is! Every thing on the menu is good and there is a lot of it. The side vegetables do leave something to be desired if you are not from the Midwest. So surprised that they don't have any reviews! We stopped here on our way through Ponca City for Sunday lunch. Its an under-stated, family run establishment but offers up some amazing food. The club sandwich is enormous, burgers are delicious and homemade rolls are to die for. Great service and reasonable prices make this a 10! read more

My wife and I ate here for lunch and despite the humble appearance, the food was quite good. I had the country/chicken fried steak and my wife had the fried catfish. Both tasted fresh and were nicely seasoned. The food was definitely better than most of the food we had during our visit to Ponca City. The staff was friendly and responsive to two obvious out-of-towners, but I must say the staff and restaurant was not overly clean in appearance. The cleanliness didn't bother us too much since this was our second day in town and by comparison, J. W. Cobb's was pretty good overall. So not many options in Ponca City on a Sunday but this place was recommended on Yelp, Foursquare, and by my hotel so I went on down. I placed a to go order since I was exhausted and sat and sat and sat. Finally after 35 minutes when another customer came in they realize it was me they were trying to contact (sitting right in front of them) about being out of my chicken that I ordered. So I get talked into chicken strips (fine, I am hungry). I am wondering how they can make chicken strips but not my grilled chicken bits? Ding ding they use pre-made, processed chicken (FAIL). Then after a total of 70 minutes they finally have my order ready, don't comp me anything and when I get back and open it up...wait for it. They forgot my OKRA!!! So in summary it took 70 minutes to make pre-made chicken strips, carrots, and okra and then leave the okra in the restaurant. DON'T EAT HERE. read more

If you like real homemade style American food-THIS IS YOUR PLACE! They actually have "cooks",(not high school aged kids-who simply take pre measured/prepared portions from the freezer and throw them in the microwave). Its not very glitzy or glamorous and maybe a little 'run down'... BUT the food IS GOOD,the waitresses are friendly and the prices are reasonable. Decided to try this place out since it was right across the street from the hotel. As soon as you walk in you notice the old outdated interior. It was very warm inside and alot of flies. You sit wherever you want and I was greeted promptly. They have really good sweet tea and tasty rolls. I asked my waitress what was good on the menu and she instantly said the ckicken fried steak. All in all the food was really good, chicken fried steak and okra were cooked just right and weren't greasy. read more

I was in town on business looking for someplace "local" for lunch. JW Cobbs came highly recommended. Wonderful service and a great family atmosphere. Lunch specials are good and they serve REAL mashed potatoes. read more

Foods pretty good and the service is good. Only issue me and my friends have is the consistency of the food. Sometimes when we go for breakfast the cowboy hashbrowns are all you could ask for and then other mornings the cheese isnt melted on them and the hashbrowns are soggy. But overall this place is great. read more

Good ole American home cooking. Mashed potatoes, fried chicken, green beans with bacon, catfish, country fried steak - it's all like Mama used to make. It's not a large place and be prepared to stand in line for Sunday dinner but the buffet is worth the wait. Order off the menu during the week but the kitchen is normally fast and efficient. Most of the waitresses seem to stay for years and are friendly. Great place to take family, friends or that special someone. Homey decor not the Ritz but pleasant. read more

Love love love me some Cobbs! Diane is a super sweet lady. I have ate year since I was a young child! I bring my children here! I have many fond memories. My favorite for breakfast would have to be pancakes and sausage. My husband was in Ponca City about 10 years ago for a business trip and ate at Cobb's. Recently we were going to be going through there with family and he remembered the restaurant and how much he liked it. So we went and I have to say it was really good. We felt comfortable and the staff was great. The food was all good and certainly felt that we got our money's worth. It came out fast but all done correctly. The whole family enjoyed it and if we go back through that area again, I know exactly where we will eat. read more

JW Cobbs is another restaurant in ponca that can appear to be very small and when you walk in see it has more room than you thought from the outside. Each booth actually has it's own theme with pictures on the wall (wizard of oz, 3 stooges, john wayne and such). Sunday's there is an all-u-can-eat buffet for breakfast that ends around noon (i believe). depending on your timing it can be very quiet or bustling loud. The homemade rolls are awesome and salads are usually good. I often get the fried catfish dinner and absolutely love it every time. read more

Quit going to Cobbs several years ago because it was consistently dirty. Decided to give it another chance yesterday. Much cleaner, pleasant people, food was mediocre at best. The highly touted chicken fried steak had the flavor and texture of a processed product. Cream gravy was flavorless, and the rolls were doughy. My 'chopped steak' was flavorless, the gravy was too salty, and the dressing was an amorphous mass of some bread product. Ironically, they put brown gravy on my 'chopped steak' and chicken/ turkey gravy on my dressing. I had hoped for better. Their parking lot is always full, and that confuses me. read more
