    My inspiration photo I showed her many times and the ugly color I ended up with! I was a tone lighter than this inspo photo! NOT even close!

    Steer clear of JYL or stick to your guns! Here it goes: I went in wanting to get my hair cut and color balanced out. My actual color before going in was a tone lighter than my inspirational pic, pictured below (animal print jacket on) All I wanted was for the color throughout to be balanced out with some caramel colored pieces throughout: Perfectly like my inspo pic; as I myself was not at all far off from it. Meeting her, her overall demeanor was not very congenial; kind of short in conversation and standoffish. I figured maybe she's having a bad day, as I was too going in there. We all have those! But how I was treated that day and the next, proved that she's just that way all the time!? I showed her the inspirational pictures- color and cut - I informed her what my hair has a tendency to do, go red and I hate it: She briefly looked at them once and went and mixed up the color: She put maybe three foils in and then left me in the hands of a kind guy (with the mullet) who finished the foils; another girl washed; kind mullet guy came back and blow dried my newly ugly colored hair. I kindly informed him that I did not like the new muted orangy blonde biolage, as it was NOTHING like the picture I showed. I asked to please make it look like my inspirational pic: He, Not JYL, took me back and washed a toner into it. THEN another girl washed it and kind mullet guy came back and blow dried it just a little to see if I'd like it and again I did not, because it was not like the picture, NOT EVEN close, so he went and got JYL. She did not look amused and stated that putting another toner on it will only make it darker with red coming thru. So I again, asked for it to be darker, JYL cuts it maybe 3-4 times with the scissors, giving me the ugly shelf haircut picture with the crying face, (NOT AT ALL) like my inspo pic I showed her! Sends me back to a different girl who washed in a toner. I was not happy with that now darker orange ugly asss biolage! Now a DIFFERENT younger girl, who one could tell was new, did not even know how to properly blow dry hair to even give it body & style! I was nice and informed her how I'd like it blow dried using the roller brush and then teasing it to give my hair body and style. She did not have the coordination to do it, she was yanking my hair! The lady in the chair next to me was looking at me with her eyes wide open with a mortified look on her face as well! NO JOKE! I ended up being staticky with my hair sticking to my head! Showing off the hideous shelf haircut that JYL DID! I asked this young newbie to put some 'half beachy curls' in to try to make it look somewhat stylish: She kept the hair on the iron for what seemed like 30 seconds, which we know can burn off hair and severely damage your hair! I did not like it and I had her brush it out! By this time, I was fuming! It took everything inside of me to keep 'The Kraken' from raging! I did not want my hair to fry off with color and processing. I needed to go home, calm down, then make the phone call to have them fix it the very next day! The whole day, how I was bounced around, how I did not get what I showed pictures of, and being charged $320 (base w/o tip) nearly $400 for something I hated and did not ask for, was utterly unnerving and outrageous! I was MORTIFIED! Going in the next day, I thought that JYL was going to be fixing my hair, seeing how she is the one that screwed it up in the first place! She had the audacity to ignore me, not apologize, and I was pawned off to another stylist named Ansley. Ansley was nice and fixed my crappy haircut giving me close to the hairstyle I had originally asked for, having showed her the same inspo pictures I showed Jyl. Ansley just simply darkened it which made it another darker shade of orangey brown red! I chalked it up to a fuuuuck it and said I'm never going back! I'm WARNING people and going on the hunt for someone who knows how to properly handle my hair AND has a proper level of professionalism as well! I would love to GET SOME OF MY MONEY BACK, as what I'm rocking right now is not even close to what I asked for! I believe you, JYL, need an attitude adjustment and a refresher course in either Customer Service / Business Management 101. JYL, you could have at least had the common decency and proper level of business decorum, to at least come up to me and apologize; say your sorry and that you do not have the time to fix it and make it what you wanted,' but YOU DID NOT! You ignored me as I glared at you! People, She may have her name on the sign, but she does not know how to give you YOUR DESIRED design! Steer clear of JYL! --So are you going to do right by me and offer to give me some of my money back? I'll be happy to come in and show you what I look like and to discuss this with you in person.

    Every time I come into the salon, I'm just blown away by the results when I leave! I swear they do magic or something because my hair always feels so insanely soft and looks just stunning every time I come in! I've had other hair salons end up not giving me what I want or breaking my hair, and I've come here and they've fixed it. They made my broken hair look like it was never broken in the first place! This is the only hair salon I actually trust and will let touch my hair. I know when I come in, I am getting quality hair services and that they care about their clients. Amazing job! Just 10/10 every time!! This is the only salon I would ever recommend to anyone. Other salons just can't touch them, in my opinion.

    One week later. Notice the fried hair.

    After being a client for over 15 years I was very disappointed with my last service. I couldn't get my usual level 3 stylist so I went with a level 6 stylist who had cut my hair one time. I had bad hair color going on from having bleached it out last year during the pandemic. The level 6 stylist suggested that we bleach my whole head again and I didn't question it since Level 6 at Jyl Craven is the highest skill level. What she did wrong, imo was massaging the bleach into my hair and scalp, even around my face and neck like it was moisturizing cream. She did not use any barrier for my skin to protect it from the bleach. The salon manager told me it is common practice when bleaching the entire head but nobody else seems to agree with that. I was burning and really red around my widow's peak when she finished styling my hair but she assured me there was no other redness around the back. The next day I had severe redness, itching, sores developing in my hairline, and blisters on my ears. I reached out to the stylist after a week of no improvement and she asked me to send photos. The following night she finally texted me back, then dismissed me stating it must have been something I put on my hair in one week after paying $300 for professional service. She suggested I use hydrocortisone cream and I didn't hear from her again. Another 2 weeks passed by and I went to the doctor for relief from the constant itch. He agreed with chemical burns and he prescribed a shampoo and topical for it. Nearly a month later I decided I needed to have it fixed and went to Jyl Craven in person and spoke to the salon manager. She never offered to try to help me or fix my hair, and since The Cravens were out of town until Monday December 13th, she would have Jason Craven call me. She half listened to my complaint, reluctantly glanced at my photographs, and she said it looks like an allergic reaction to her. I guess there's a big difference between the culpability level of chemical burns and allergic reactions.. She was very dismissive and unconcerned and I really didn't think I would get a phone call so I made an appointment with another salon. I was right because today is the 16th and no phone call has been received. I went back to Elon Salon where I had been a client 15 years earlier & for $200 she fixed my $295 worth of damage & my hair looks like nothing ever happened. I still have some pesky itching and dry skin around my neck and I hope that goes away completely and soon. My complaint is about how Jyl Craven salon met my concerns with rudeness, denial, and even had the nerve to contradict my Doctor. They followed all that unprofessionalism up with not even bothering to contact me as promised. I can't recommend them even though I really liked my level 3 stylist, who did a perfect job every time.

    Where should I begin? We told Blake we wanted my sons hair left longer on top and sides. We even showed her photos of what we wanted. He had ample hair so she said no problem. He was scalped. His side burns were so crooked it was laughable. I have pics as well in comments to show just how bad of a cut he received.

    Fast forward I started seeing Shayna for cut and color. She is the bomb! My color is awesome; I get compliments every where I go. Red is difficult to keep vibrant, but my color really lasts, I can easily go 8 weeks between appointments. It is a little pricey, but you get what you pay for!

I had not had my hair professionally cut in almost a decade, and for the first time in my life, it had grown quite long. I was incredibly nervous to let somebody chop away at it, although I knew I desperately both a cut and some advice. Not ever having long hair, I had no idea how to properly care for it, and it was in major need of some intense TLC. Charity. My girl Charity. Not only was she so incredibly sweet and kind- I could feel the good vibes coming off her the second I saw her- but she really listened to my requests and concerns. It was fascinating to watch her work- she was deft and quick. You can tell she'd been doing hair for some time. And while she cut, I asked her questions on how to better car for my hair, and she gave absolutely the best tips. She kept every millimeter of my length that she could while trimming away all the split and breakage and dry dead ends and gave me some lovely long layers that are easy to manage as a toddler mom. My hair looks fantastic and feels so silky and healthy! Like I said, everytime I do anything to it, I'm reminded of the power of a professional hairdresser. It's impacted my daily life having manageable hair again. I cannot speak enough good things about Charity. And I will certainly be scheduling a twice yearly trim with her from now on!

    This is more against an employee her name is BETH. First to understand why I got upset, I only get…read moremy hair cut once a year as a single mom of 3 it's hard to have the time and the money to do so. I have been going through some personal struggles and Shane' my stylist was eager to help me for my second time in one year. I gave her a good review on FB with pics. Well as a single mom my kids go with me every where. This time I had my 12 and 6 year old boys. My 6 year old might look normal but he has a mental disability. He is add and adhd. He does take medication to help with is behavior. Now to what happened we were there roughly an hour into the process and wearing our mask as required for a six year old with the disability its, a challenge without a mask. He had a little melt down when my phone died and my oldest was trying to help him calm down then myself while I was in the chair. Shane' knows my son and treats him with care every time we visit. BETH yes BETH raised her voice called out his name and in a stern voice told him that they were busy and he needed to calm down. I looked at her to let her know of his disability and with disrespect she rolled her eyes and walked away. After knowing his disability I would have thought she would have apologized. Or being in her profession know how to handle situations with children that has mental disabilities. My son is not a bad kid and to treat him or talk to him as such you should be ashamed of your self. As not only clients saw what she did but so did other staff members. So if you were in the salon when all this happened I want to apologize to anyone of not just my sons meltdown but on behalf of Beth. I also what to think the other 2 employees that's work behind Shane' for telling me how sweet my boy was as he kept telling me how beautiful I was. He is a sweet kid and everyone saw that, he didn't deserve to be treated like that and it hurt me cause this is the time I saw. Things like this breaks my heart not knowing what others do when I am not around to help defend him. My name is Brittany and I have not one but 2 kids that has a mental disability and I am proud of them. As a reminder do not use BETH if you have a child that has a disability. Thank you Shane' and the other 2 staff members that saw I was upset and talked to me and it really helped to not make me cry.
