Took my sweet but crazy 50 lb. German Shepherd/Border Collie/Pittie mix (Sheena) to K-9 Coach to be groomed today. I have already been using them for training (wonderful) and decided to book a grooming appointment as well. I cannot say enough good things about Sheena's groomer, Aurelia Moore! Aside from having the coolest name, Aurelia is just fabulous at her job. She was kind, did a thorough groom, helped me correct Sheena when necessary (I'm a new dog owner and need all the help I can get!) and gave me expert tips on how to help Sheena's coat staying beautiful. She was supposed to send me information on how to connect with Becca 4 days ago and despite multiple voicemails, she hasn't sent anything or called me back. I boarded my healthy 8 month old puppy while I traveled abroad for 11 days. When I returned and picked up my puppy the staff informed he had an accident and some diarrhea. When I look for what they downplayed as a scrap turned out to be an unattended abrasion that had gotten infected. This infection has caused my sweet puppy's hair to fall out in globs, as well as dehydration, vomiting and diarrhea. No one was concerned enough to contact my family of the incident so our fur baby could be seen by his vet. Multiple contact numbers that were provided. We've spent so much money from emergency vet visits, to his veterinary care, to medications. I was told by the corporate office we would be reimbursed and to submit the invoices. We did and the general manager implied as if the vet visits were not related. To date we have not been reimbursed or heard back from anyone. This place clearly does not care about our fur baby and all the trauma he has suffered and still suffering, not to even mention the emotional distress we are experiencing with this situation. Our fur baby was healthy and happy, ready to play and meet new friends. This is so devastating. read more

K-9 Coach was recommended by a friend to groom my Havanese. I called to make a reservation and commented that my dog was diagnosed with a very slight heart murmur. The groomers declined to service my dog stating that the environment was not suitable for a dog that might be older (only 8 yrs old) or with any type of ailments. This review is just for my experience with grooming, and not actually about the groomers. I have my dogs' nails ground regularly and have a few times had minor grooming and/or a bath for my bigger dog who is hard to get in and out of a tub. Both groomers my dogs have seen are friendly and do a good job with my dogs. I am writing about the experience with the front desk personnel. There is one woman in particular who never wears a mask. She is a young woman and if she has health concerns that she thinks means she can't wear a mask, then maybe she shouldn't be up front. There are usually others there wearing masks, but my last trip was one woman with a mask on her mouth and not her nose, and the other woman plus one more behind the counter unmasked. This may seem trivial but there is signage about patrons wearing masks in the main "storefront" area. Why does it not apply to your staff? This has been the case at least three times that I've brought my dogs there, so it wasn't a one-time thing. I've had issues in the past with a very unsatisfactory training course experience at K-9 Coach, but I was trying to give them another chance after that, since it was just grooming. They required an excessive amount of vaccinations for my dogs, more than any other place, but I thought fine, they're being very careful (canine influenza vaccine for one). But based flagrant lack of masks while we're still in a pandemic, I unfortunately don't plan to be back unless this company takes this issue more seriously. read more

We've taken our dogs to K-9 for quite awhile for their boarding services, as well as a basic obedience course for our younger pup. Here, I'll rate it on its boarding/day care services. The obedience class would get 4-5 stars. K-9 is convenient and reasonably priced, and our dogs seem to have fun while they're there. Some things that could be worked on: 1)The dog urine smell is overpowering when you walk in, which is very unappealing considering the amount you're paying to board or have your dog stay at daycare. 2)There have been at least a couple of occasions where our dogs have been returned to us with poop and urine on their bodies after a week-long (or less) stay. I don't want to be nickle and dimed for a bath; I just want my dogs returned to me in a halfway decent state so that I can put them in my car. Just give 'em a quick wipe down please! 3)Customer serive is meh... Have had to beg for a refund or two when an extra day is charged, for example. We hope to continue taking our dogs to K9 if things improve a bit! read more

I signed up to work with K-9 Coach for our German Shepherd puppy, submitted payment and everything. Jarrette was very helpful in informing me about the different classes and what was going to be the best for my little girl. Then, we got horrible news that our little girl was diagnosed with an eating disorder and we were going to have to look at different options about what was going to be best for her life. I contacted K-9 Coach, not knowing what to expect and Jarrette was very kind and offered his prayers and ended up giving us a full refund. I've read reviews where other people were not happy with their refund request experiences and I wanted to throw in my "two cents" about the experience that we had. We take our Doberman puppy to Bed and Bark all the time and he is always excited to go. I work from home and some days when I'm just swamped with things to do, I take him to their day care and it helps me stay productive. On rainy days the dog hates to go to the bathroom because he doesn't want to get wet. So off to Bed and Bark he goes so he can run around and exercise with other pups. Bed and Bark has a covered area for the dogs to go to the bathroom so they don't have to get wet on yucky days. Our dog has also been through class at Bed and Bark and he has learned plenty of things and is much better behaved now. The staff is very friendly and always greet us with a smile. They know our dog by name and are always affectionate toward him, even when he jumps up to see them and lick them(he's not supposed to jump!). We always feel comfortable leaving him at Bed and Bark when we have to go out of town, and he's always tired when we bring him home, which is WONDERFUL. All the dogs are supervised during playtime by trained professionals to make sure that the playing stays safe. It's a great place for pups of all ages and sizes! read more

I cannot say enough great things about K-9 Coach!! We have brought our dog here for his training and for daycare for almost a year. The staff is so friendly and my dog gets SO excited when I pull into the parking lot. It's super convenient for me to bring him here for daycare, as I can just swing by before work and it's a quick process in and out, no reservation needed for daycare. Daycare Notes: He is always exhausted when he gets home because he gets so much playtime. The staff are always caring and responsive. I'm a crazy person and love the webcams and getting to take a quick peek at what my dog is up to throughout the day. They manage his playtime well, giving him a good mix of playtime and rest, so it isn't overwhelming. The attendants always seem patient with him even when he's being crazy or jumpy, which I really appreciate. It's a wonderful big space and perfect for dogs that want to run around, or wrestle around like he does. Training Notes: Seriously, so thankful for the Canine Good Citizenship Class. We did the first class (Amber was our Coach) and she covered a great mix of skills that were oriented around being able to manage my dog's behavior on an everyday level: think politeness around others, loose-leash walking, those kinds of skills. I always recommend this class to my friends who recently adopted. It was great for us as we adopted a dog that was past his puppy years and already set in some habits. We've used K-9 Coach for training, grooming and boarding and I love them for all! We have a more convenient location to us, who I also love, for doggie daycare, but the Sunday 4-7pm pickup from boarding is the best!! The dogs have always seemed to have a great time there, always nice and tired when they return :). They're now tied in with a daycare center camera system so during normal school hours you can check in on your "little ones". Making sure to follow their instructions on pre-bagging food and letting them know any special notes makes for a better experience for everyone. On the last boarding they had the FURminator grooming so I'm checking out how well the shedding is for the next few weeks. They have a lot of special add-ons for grooming and services, like extra rub-downs and treats :). For training, Kat is tops! She did so well with our first pup and it has helped be the basis for his development. read more

It's been over a year since Sadie did her 2 week training with Kat at K-9 Coach, so I wanted to revisit. Sadie has become a truly amazing dog. With the advice and training Kat provided, Sadie everyday is transforming into the dog I knew was hiding in there. While I knew she'd never be a "people" dog, when she becomes comfortable with someone, she's SUPER comfortable around them. Case in point, last summer I met a beautiful young lady and we began going out. When she first visited my home, Sadie wouldn't come out to say hello. She'd poke her head out of the bedroom to confirm a stranger was here and then go back and lay down. Now we are getting married next month and when she comes home from work you should see how excited Sadie gets to see her. She dances and rolls over and is the most excitable little pup. Further, I'm walking Sadie in my backyard WITHOUT A LEASH. She's sniffing out new adventure every day. She is still leashbound when we go on long walks, but it also makes her comfortable to know i'm next to her. This all because of the hard work Kat put in with Sadie during her darkest days, and for that I'll be forever grateful. read more

I've tried other pet boarding and grooming locations in the area but none of them have been as good as K-9 Coach. My dog Molly is normally not very happy when I have to board her since I travel for work quite a bit and so does my wife but when she sees me bring her here she's very excited so they're doing something right. The grooming is top notch and while not the cheapest I've encountered they are certainly worth their price. I would recommend them to anyone in the area if they are looking for a location with great staff, facilities and show an obvious care of your pet. Big fan of the report cards Molly gets when she comes home. Remember to book early for the holiday's I wasn't aware of the backlog they can have sometimes and had to make alternate arrangements for Thanksgiving. read more

Boss comes to K9 Coach for daycare about 3 times a week. The staff is amazing and always greets him with love & attention. Initially I found out about K9 Coach because my sister told me that they accepted Pit Bulls. Most camps do not and that irritates me to no end! How can you judge a dog based solely on his breed? Boss can be a real handful...jumps, gets behind the front desk when picked up, mows through all the treats on display, and gets VERY excited, but the staff still seems to love him. Additionally, I have boarded him here and I like how you can watch on the dogs on the web cam. I would like to try group training at some point, as I know he needs it :). Our two soft-coated wheaten terriers go to K-9 Coach for grooming, they are quite a handful and the team has done an amazing job! They had great knowledge of the breed and kept their fur exactly how we liked it. Since it was their first visit, the stylist made sure they were comfortable and was happy to take her time with them. The price was reasonable and our pups had a great time while they were there. I would recommend K-9 Coach to anyone, we will definitely be back soon! read more

This will probably be a long review but if you're considering K-9 coach for day care, training, etc. please read, if I had seen a review like this I would have been able to much more quickly chose K-9 coach as the correct facility for my dog. I have hardly if ever write reviews for anything online but I feel that the experience I had warrants this in the least. My dog Mac recently returned from a week "Learn for Life" board and training program and a few days of regular boarding. The staff members I had been in contact with, Noelle for training and Kristen for scheduling, are an amazing representation of what should be the gold standard for dog care and along with the structure of the facility itself, they're the main reason for this review. I initially chose K-9 Coach after contacting multiple other companies based on their prices and the initial interaction I had with the staff. Kristen who is the client concierge I worked with was incredible- from spelling out everything I needed to know, vaccines required, scheduling a trail day to a follow up email after I took him home with pictures of him in a life vest during a swimming enrichment! She went above and beyond as far as even contacting our vet to double check he hadn't received certain vaccines which I had was unsure of. I am not sure the process of his trainer placement, but I am so grateful he was paired up with Noelle. She was completely honest with her process and realistic with the goals we had for Mac. We were updated very often with how he was doing and pictures and videos which was so nice when we missed him. Our take home session was really great, she had learned so much about him that really really has helped us understand him more and better communicate with him as he is easily overstimulated and excited. Even though he was excelling in our obedience classes with a different company, she helped us understand where he was falling short and what was causing him to fail in certain situations. Not only was the training he learned really successful, the things she was able to show us about our dog were invaluable and have already had a positive impact within 2 days of him being back with us. It was a really great experience from start to finish and I cannot recommend them enough as a place to take great care of your dog and let's you relax knowing he's in the best hands. read more

We have been utilizing K-9 Coach for over 7 years, typically for boarding and grooming and on a weekly basis. My four dogs are treated like royalty. The entire staff is caring, competent and client service oriented. Tommy is wonderful in the yard and Aurelia is outstanding as a groomer. I trust the staff and know my furkids are well-cared for! Some people are people people and some people are dog people. K9 coach was recommended by a friend, so it was a bit of a drive from West midtown with traffic, but worth it for my dog. Plus they had coaching, seeing that it's in their name, and my Great Dane could use it. She's a 100 pound puppy and doesn't realize her size, and she's a bit clumsy. I was quite impressed by my walk through. A young woman with glasses, who worked the front desk, and I apologize that I can't remember her name, but she's the best interaction I had while there. Even though my dog wreaked of urine every time I picked her up, she seemed happy, and I had yet to receive my passcode for the video surveillance. And the final day when I watched the video. The man was too busy on his phone and sitting on the sidelines to pay that much attention to the dogs. But the poor guy seemed to be in there all day. Then on my birthday, when I went to pick her up, she had scratches on her face that had broken the skin. I brought her back inside to discuss, and the two people working were concerned, but said she didn't know her own size and was a very active player. I had wished they had brought that to my attention rather than the other way around and emailed the trainer to find out if I should remove my pup so she wasn't in harm's way. And one thing they never tell you is that they put paper wax collars on all the dogs during the day. Like the 21 and over festival wristbands that you have to almost cut off to remove. Well, my puppy's was always messed up, and I hated to think what that was doing to her neck. Well, don't question the staff because you'll receive a 3 page email, stating that you're completely in the wrong, that your past experiences must be clouding your judgement and that you don't stay in business for 15 years without a certain level of excellence. And this diatribe of finger pointing came after a follow-up phone call with the manager. I hope no one has to experience what I did. I just wanted clarification that what happened to my pup wasn't her fault because of her size and age. And I got hell for it. And I take that from my clients, but not from people I'm paying to watch my four-legged daughter. Jarrett's email put me over the edge and we won't be returning. And if he's the lead trainer, I can't say much for the management at this facility. read more

Was a client for over 5 years, daycare, boarding, training, grooming. Was a 5 star reviewer but it is so unfortunate they have changed. I will not go into detail on Yelp because I am above trashing them but suffice it to say the Client definitely no longer comes first, second, third... They also have a lot of turnover now and are putting inexperience people in the yards, 1 person 30-40 dogs that is with rotating some out . Watch the puppy cam. I'm certain there will be some kind of reply disputing this but I did nothing wrong but actually care about my dogs. I am just so disappointed. read more

My dog was there for long-term boarding, and I went to pick her up unannounced. She was retuned to me with feces covering her rear end. She was also underweight. I've only taken my dogs here 4-5 times (couple of times on Saturday and the others for about 5-5 hours of daycare). What's worse is that my dogs were so thirsty, I don't think they gave them much water to drink. Which I guess is understandable if they want them to pee less but hey I want my pups hydrated. If the peeing in a small confined area for so many dogs is a problem - try to look for a solution! Bummer. read more

We have been bringing our dog Gunner to K-9 coach since he was 5 months old (he's 4 now). I can't say enough about how much we love it here. The facility is top notch and they continue to make enhancements.(pool, front area, online reservations). But it's really the staff that makes it special here. Gunner can be shy but he comes out of his shell when he sees the staff (especially Uncle Tommy who is his favorite person in the world). I've never written a review for anything, ever; But, the love I have for my dog compels me to share my experience at K-9 Coach with other pet owners to prevent them from experiencing the nightmare that I've endured. K-9 Coach was the first place I've ever boarded my dog at and the folks there have confirmed all of my worst nightmares about leaving my dog with strangers. The first time I boarded my dog at K-9 Coach, she returned home with diarrhea and was unable to keep food down for several days. Being a long time dog owner, I realize that she could have picked up something from another dog during her stay there. However, I did wonder where the large bag of treats was that that I had dropped off with her was. I was informed that the "knowledgable staff" was under the impression that all food provided at the time of your pet's drop off was assumed to be given to the pet throughout their stay...What I am trying to say is, my dog was fed 200 pieces of beef jerky in less than 48 hours. No wonder she was sick. I gave K-9 Coach the benefit of the doubt due to the great reviews I read on this site and next time, planned to give them only enough treats for the duration of her stay. This week, I brought my dog back to K-9 Coach as I had a work trip to take. Upon pulling in to the parking lot, my dog began shaking and panting violently...Like nothing I've seen in the five years I've spent with her. There was absolutely no way I would have left her there if I had ANY other option. Panicking about the condition my dog was in when I dropped her off, I did some more research on K-9 Coach and found that supposedly, I could watch my girl on camera during the day so long as I had a user ID and password to log in with, which I did not. I called K-9 Coach desperately wanting to check on my dog, via webcam or verbal report, multiple times every single day for four days, and the phone was NEVER answered. I planned to pick up my dog on a Sunday, on which day their pick up hours are from 4pm-7pm. On Sunday, I called K-9 Coach once more and, to my surprise, they actually answered the phone!! I wanted to let them know that I was running 30 minutes late and asked, no, begged, them to wait 30 minutes for me as I was stuck in traffic. I offered to pay any price to have someone stay for 30 minutes so that I could get to my dog that night as, obviously, I was insanely worried about her. I was told that everyone leaves at 7pm and per the owner's orders, no one was allowed to stay a moment longer. It then occurred to me that the staff checks out at exactly 7pm and no one returns until 7am. Yes, that means that my dog was being locked in a cage, unsupervised, for 12 hours each day. I'm confused; I thought I was paying K-9 Coach to watch my dog? Never. Again. read more

Don't you hate when you trust a dog groomer to keep your dog fluffy and dignified and then you get him back shaved with pink ribbons in his ears? It took forever but I finally found a place that loves and cares for my dog, listens to my concerns and is knowledgable about what they're doing. As a member of the Club my babies receive countless benefits and I love that they get the additional training and exercise.
