We took our third pup, Chewie, to K-9 Coach for basic obedience training when he was a puppy. Our trainer was Kat Cunningham and she is AWESOME. Chewie learned a lot from the group lessons, and is a well behaved pup due to it. He's a golden retriever/Australian shepherd mix, so he definitely keeps us on our toes! We have also taken Shenzi and Chewie there for day care, which they enjoy. We have boarded all three of our dogs there for a night as well. I was extra nervous about this, because my middle pup, Nick, has some anxiety issues and I was nervous about how his stay would be. K-9 Coach is absolutely fantastic and one of the best doggy day cares and training facilities in the business. Our dog had been going to daycare since he was 6 months old (he's 3 now) and he absolutely loved it. He would sit at the front door every morning and practically begged us to take him. We moved up to Smyrna about 8 months ago and started taking our dog to another day care in the area. We immediately noticed a change. Our dog did not want to enter the building and would sit next to us with his tail between his legs every time we took him in. His behavior was noticeably different and we determined that something or someone at this new daycare must have hurt him or done something to give him a bad experience. A friend told us about K-9 Coach and we decided to give them a chance. Our dog worked with Steve on his trial day and displayed similar behaviors. He was nervous, scared, and wasn't quite sure he wanted to be there. After three day care training sessions with Steve, our old day care loving pup is back! He is now excited to go to K-9 Coach. He runs into the building and sits by the front door every morning begging to go! Steve was great! He took the time to help acclimate our dog to the new facility and would keep my husband and I updated on his progress. He even sent us videos of how our pup was interacting with the other dogs so we could actually see the behaviors he was displaying! Now, our dog loves Steve and gets excited to see him! The people at K-9 Coach are a HUGE improvement from the ones we are used to dealing with. They are kind, friendly, and clearly dog-loving people! They greet me every time I enter and have begun to call our dog by his name and recognize that I am his owner. So long are the days where the old day care would bring out the wrong dog! I would STRONGLY recommend K-9 Coach over any other doggy day care in the area. We LOVE having a place we can take him and feel comfortable that he is being taken care of. Me and my boys absolutely love this place. I was initially referred by a co-worker that brings her little dog Tater here on a regular basis. My new office was located only about 7 minutes away, and I was in need of a new doggy daycare. Well K-9 Coach has it all. From the webcams, to the friendly and helpful staff, to the cute little report cards that the fur babies get when you pick them up. As seen from the small dog area webcams, there is always a handler in with the dogs keeping them stimulated.......or keeping them out of trouble. This place usually books up fast because they are so awesome, so I would suggest calling to schedule the temperament test as soon as you can. They are always booked up in advance for the holidays also, and you have to board at least twice during the year before you can board on a holiday, so plan ahead.They are DABOMB.COM! read more

My pup and I completed the star puppy course here and it was a good class, Although the point of the class is to learn a command in class, practice at home and come in to test what you've learned, I'm not exactly sure that it is worth the steep price however, I've heard their more advanced classes are different. The instructor Lauren was very nice and attentive in class. The only negative and real reason I kind of had a change of heart about this facility is when my dog had to have emergency surgery the day before the last day (test day). The instructor returned my call a couple days later, we spoke about my dogs condition and it never was explained that to be tested again would cost 45 dollars (for an hour".. test took all of 15-20 mins) It wasn't until I drove there that she told me that there was a fee. I honestly wouldn't have scheduled a separate day, I would have been satisfied with just knowing my dog learned the basic commands I didn't need a piece of paper stating she "passed". I felt obligated to pay the "hour fee" since both of us were there and I had drove 45 mins there for it however, I am not sure I will be returning to use their services again. Granted, I'm sure it's written up somewhere when you first register for the class, however I registered over a month ago and I just feel it would have been nice for it to be explained prior to me showing up there that "hey by the way when booking this testing day you'll be required to pay an additional ___ ". Just didn't leave a good impression for me of this business. read more

I am going to post a review for current customers and/or potential customers since it has been years since a post was made. I am absolutely APPALLED by the treatment of our dog and to me as a paying customer. We boarded our dog recently during an out of town visit. I left VERY detailed instructions about feeding times so as not to throw our dog's schedule/normalcy off more than it already would be by not being at home. When I called in the middle of the afternoon, around 4p EST to see why I could not find him on the web cam, they told me he was already put up for the day for dinner. I questioned why he was eating earlier than the instructions that I left and they said that is standard unless details noted otherwise?!?! Are you kidding me? What happened to the instructions that I sent with my dog? We also wanted some grooming Delmore or less just a nice bath and brushing with minimal dematting. I will say that our beloved ball of fluff has some matting issues. We know this and were trying to wait until the warmer months before making the decision to shave him down. What we did not want was the poor guy cut all to heck and or shaved here or there. I expected to pick him up smelling good and clean. Instead I got a wretched smelling dog (think urine and cat pee) with a tangled mess or hair, and soaked on the bottom. What the H-E-double hockey sticks did they do to my poor little pup? When we questioned them they had the nerve to ask us if we were the problem? I can tell you one thing....I will NEVER use nor recommend this to company to ANYONE. I am very involved in my HOA, community and the Atlanta area and will most definitely be making sure that everyone knows how bad this place was to us. Maybe your dog likes day care there but I would never board or groom with them. I think even one star is too many. read more

I was recently searching for a good place to take my pup in my new hometown, and I came across a review of Bed and Bark that I took great personal offense to. Why? Because not only did I adopt a dog that was rescued due to the efforts of the Bed and Bark team, I was also the kennel manager at the time of the review. I treated every dog that came in like they were my own. Period. Any other post is a lie. But the main reason I'm writing this is because I know how hard it is to trust other people with your dog. And why can you trust me? Because despite the fact that I didn't part ways from the company on good terms because of personal differences with management (not professional- see above), I wouldn't recommend any other place than to take your pooch. Amber demands that every employee she brings in treats every dog that walks through the door like they are their own. Anything less is not tolerated. Do not believe anything anybody else says. It is, to quote my earlier statement, a lie. It is impossible for things to run perfectly for every single dog that comes through any day-care/training facility. But that doesn't mean that any single failure, no matter how small, hits Amber and her staff on an extremely personal level. Take your dog there. Do it immediately. Inside of every dog, no matter how troubled, is a soul that is better than anything humanity has to offer. Amber will do everything to show the world that your dog is no different. read more

Been taking our pup here for 2 years and would never stop if we weren't moving out of the area. Amazing people, patient, caring and couldn't ask for a better place for him to meet other people and dogs. Our boy is a little bit fearful agressive and we had issues at other playcare places, but the staff at K9 has really taken to Porter and I know both us and he are going to miss them a ton. While we love our 18 month-old pitbull mix absolutely to death, my fiance and I were starting to think he was going to be the death of US. We had been through multiple group classes AND private training, and we were at the end of our ropes--then someone recommended that we contact K-9 Coach about their "doggie boot camp" program. I was incredibly skeptical that sending my dog away for 2-3 weeks would improve his behavior (especially since I acknowledged that my fiance and I were a HUGE part of the problem), but head trainer Ken took TONS of time to describe his philosophies and explain why in-board training was a good idea for our pup. The program ain't cheap, but it includes some follow-up private training sessions AND access to group classes for the life of your dog. Ken kept us updated on progress and then gave us lots of info (read: homework) when we took our furry buddy home. He has always been available to answer questions, no matter how seemingly trivial. As for the results, we have noticed huge improvements in our dog's behavior. We still have a lot of work to do, but it is really nice to know that the folks at K-9 Coach are there to help you through the good days and the bad days. I took my 9 pound dog here for bath and cut. I wanted no special cut. I just asked for his cut to be short all over. They also told me that the package includes a nail trim and anal glands expressed. He ends up with a bad cut and they did not follow directions.... they left the hair on his face longer than the rest of his body. They did not express his anal glands and they forgot to cut the nails on one paw. How do you do that? I ended up bringing him back so they could finish the cut and express his anal glands. I didnt notice the nails until later. shm. I wont be back for grooming. read more

I have used K9 Coach Bed and Bark for training classes and boarding and I have always been extremely happy with the experience. This is the first time I had my dog groomed and Joey did a fantastic job! Our dog, Hillary, is a Flat Haired Retriever Mix and her hair is slightly wavy and long. We didn't know what we really wanted but Joey was patient and asked a lot of questions. When I picked Hillary, she looked adorable! We were very pleased. We will definitely bring her back. read more

After sending my dog to K-9 coach for several weeks, he came back in worse shape than when he when in. The kennel manager is rude, the front desk clerks have no idea what is going on, and the owner of the facility has little interest in any aspect of the business, which is at the least, odd, and at the most ,grossly irresponsible. I will never take another of my dogs there again, as I have had to deprogram the one I sent there already. read more

We have a 6-year-old Doberman rescue that we got at 14mos. of age. She was not socialized and according to the rescue group was kept in a crate 24-7, outdoors. Although she is a loving dog with us, she has had some issues with aggression with other dogs. It had gotten to the point where I was afraid to even walk by another dog for fear of her lunging, growling, biting, etc. We started with the introductory obedience class taught by Kat Cunningham and were so impressed that we decided to enroll her in the 2- week "in-board training" program while we were away on vacation. Kat diagnosed her problem as "fearful nervousness" vs. aggression, and after the first day of evaluation had her in the yard with 15+ other dogs!! It was amazing to check out the webcam and see her just "hanging out" with the gang!! With Kat's diagnosis and training, we now know how to proceed with her training and gradual socialization in different environments. She now attends doggie daycare regularly and is becoming more and more "calm". Thanks to Kat and the great staff at K-9 Coach!! read more

I've been taking my beagle mix, Fay, to K-9 Coach since she was a pup -- that was four years ago. Every trainer, employee treats Fay as though she's part of the family! The first to go above and beyond was Tommy (aka "Uncle Tommy"), who regularly sings "FAY!" to the tune of George Michael's "Faith" as we arrive in the morning ... ("you gotta have FAY, FAY, FAY!"). Whenever I've had to board Fay, Tommy has taken time out to send me a text, sometimes with video, to show me how happy Fay is with her second family. Truly, every single person who cares for Fay at K-9 is generous and loving to my very friendly (read: vocal) pup ... They include: Justin, Morgan, Kristen, Jamie, Aurelia (who has a special connection with Fay, particularly when it's bath time!) ... and so many others who've cared for Fay over the years.
