As typical first-time dog owners, my partner and I were very hesitant to send our puppy away onboard for a month. Juan came to us highly recommended by a family with a problematic dog who was completely transformed through his methods. Needless to say, we experienced the same. If you're worried your dog will come back "different" or "not like himself" like we were, you'd be completely mistaken! Our dog was giving him a harder time than expected, so he kept him an entire other week for free to affirm he could deliver the best result possible. On our day of getting him back, Juan proved how great of a teacher he is. He dedicated nearly 5 hours to make sure my family felt comfortable with all of my pet's new commands, how to implement them, and proper E-Collar use. As with any training, there is a heavy emphasis on how you apply these methods at home. And Juan couldn't be more helpful in this sense, answering our calls whenever we felt confused or doubtful as to how to combat certain problems. I put my Golden Doodle thru the 5 week training course with Juan. Every week I would request a video from Juan and he would send us a video of how my furry boy was doing. After the 5 wee course Juan trained us on how to properly do the commands that was shown to my pup. Please note that the first week you take him home you must follow what Juan tells you. It is very crucial so your pup knows you are the Alpha. You must continue the training with your pup for another 9-19 weeks. Juan has been very responsive when we message him and answers the calls when he can. My pup before this training was out of control and now is extremely calm, very obedient, and follows our commands. I am writing this update after 6 weeks of continuous training at home following the trainer's instructions, Juan, who had our dog for four weeks. One of our biggest concerns was that our dog (which we adopted) was aggressive towards other dogs and sometimes towards people. This was one of the main reasons that led us to pay a considerable amount of money to Juan, and this issue was fully discussed with him before signing our contract. Days before picking up our dog, Juan assured us that this problem had been corrected. We never had confirmation of this since we received only a video of the dog doing the sit command in the course of a month, which he already knew. On the third day of being back, our dog, for the first time, crosses with another person walking his pet, and to our surprise, he became an uncontrollable beast, and this behavior has worsened with the passing of the days. Our disgruntled radicate in one of the issues that Juan lacks off ... Communication and feedback. We have tried to communicate with Juan repeatedly via text (his only method of communication) without any response. Something completely unprofessional -and, worse- irresponsible on his part. Considering the danger of having a dog that reacts aggressively against other animals (or people) is an eminent problem for us ... and his responsibility as a trainer. For this reason, I have, unfortunately, to retract my previous review. I cannot recommend a person who ignores his clients. I've been hesitant to write a review on here but I feel the need to because I'd hate for another family to lose their hard earned money like we did. We decided to trust Juan with our golden only to be disappointed after 7 weeks and $3600 later to figure out that all the commands our dog learned were only followed while an e-collar is in place. Quite frankly I feel as thought we were robbed as for the amount of money that Juan charged us, our dog should've been weaned off the e-collar by the time he came home. Another one of our friends also sent their dog for training and had the same experience. Juan is a great salesman when it comes to convincing you of his services. I 100% regret the decision of trusting him with our baby. He always said that he was a "complex case" but the day we met to pick up our dog, we over heard him say the same words he told us to 3 other clients over phone calls. When our dog came back home he had diarrhea and a bilateral ear infection. Needless to say we ended up spending an additional $450 in vet bills. She CLAIMS that Juan can't be glued to his phone 24/7 yet before he takes your puppy he does promise to answer right away. Not hours or even days apart. He also fails to tell you that you need an ecollar until later on (maybe he changed this now after reading this). I highly suggest taking your business somewhere else. We left our Silver Lab with Juan for 5 weeks. We just picked up our dog today and we are speechless! Our puppy was very hyper and didn't really listen to commands much when we dropped him off. He would jump on people and always wanted to play. Today, we picked up a totally different dog. He obeys commands and is so much more calm. We are so happy and so impressed with our puppy. We now have a different dog! We have a high energy Belgian Malinois that was very difficult to control. He had no Off button and was not aggressive but playfully nipped a lot, making it hard to interact with him. We found Juan from my husbands coworkers and it was the best decision ever!! Our pup is now so well behaved! He does try to test us sometimes but we were taught how to deal with that behavior. Juan kept him an extra week free of charge because he didn't feel he was ready and wanted to make sure we connected. When we met up he patiently went over all the scenarios for almost 4 hours with us and our 3 kids to be aware of all training opportunities when distractions appeared and mistakes were made. I can't believe the review I just read the other review before mine, because it's very very similar to what we experienced: About 2 months ago our dog started becoming leash reactive, we called this number and spoke to Juan, who seems to run the business. He was very talkative and very energetic. We explained our problem with our dog to him and he said he could board him and fix the problem. We were very excited and asked him if we could do a month boarding, 2 weeks first then 2 more weeks. He said yes, and he said that his barking and lunging could be fixed with off leash training, at first we were a bit confused but since he was the trainer we trusted him. As soon as he took our dog, the texts stopped. We would text and ask about our dog....an answer here and there. He also promised us videos of the progress. He only sent one during that week. About 3 days before dropping the dog he calls my wife and tells her that our dog is a new dog and that he is very happy with the progress, but in order to give the dog to us we are going to have to buy an ecollar, aka shock collar. I was a bit upset that he didn't mention any of this BEFORE we sent the dog to training, but my wife was desperate and said fine. $250 later, we had an ecollar. A couple of days before dropping our dog off, he sends this heavily edited video, with music playing in the background, and the number of his business. We see our dog with another dog doing sit, stay, down. We were excited to see he was ok (since we rarely saw videos or pictures of him even though we asked) and I wondered why Juan never showed us pictures of our dog at a park or interacting with more dogs. I asked him about this and he said "oh, your dog has been around chickens, horses, and many dogs. Once I drop him off, you will be able to leave him in one place and 20 dogs can walk by him and nothing will happen". He then said "And btw, you guys won't need the other 2 weeks, your dog is ready" The day of the drop off, he asked to meet at a deserted place ( I should've known), I told him why not a dog park so we can see our "new" dog in action and he said he didn't want strangers approaching him asking him for his number so he can train their dogs ( Yes, call me gullible, but I swallowed this faster than eating oyster). We met at a deserted parking lot, where for 4 hours he showed us how to command our dog to sit, stay, down and come. Mind you, our dog ALREADY knew this and he was aware of this. The only new addition was that this training was off leash, thanks to the ecollar, whereas the previous training had been on leash. Once we were done (We took a good 4 hours) we parted ways, not before him asking us for our dog's semen. No, I am not making this up, I wish I was. Since our dog is a showline breed, Juan said that he taught our dog a little bit of heel and "attack" for free as long as we allow our dog to breed with one of his in the future. My wife and I were a bit taken back by this, but nonetheless, we were desperate. After we said bye we went home all happy to see our pup in action. I took him for a walk, first dog comes out......"WOOF!!!", ::pulls::, now I am pressing the remote of the ecollar to control him, just as Juan had instructed us. But something was new, now our dog was lunging the way dogs do during bite work!! At that moment it dawned on me, Juan had irresponsibly taught our dog the first steps of attacks when we couldn't even control our dog in the first place!! As days went by, it got worse, the ecollar wasn't working, none of his training was working. Off leash worked, but it had NO effect on this whatsoever. I tried texting him and no answer. Until a few days later when he finally answered and we spoke on the phone. After I explained all to him, he decided to tell me that the dog must have a trauma and that can't be fixed. He did offer to take him back and train him more, but at this point, the damage was done, it was obvious that all he was going to do was shock the dog to submission. What truly infuriated me is he suddenly believed the dog had a trauma?? After the money had been paid, after we had trusted him, he purposely deceived us. Why do I say that? Because after more research, I have learned that leash reactivity needs more than just off leash training. He knew that legally he did what he promised he would do...off leash. But verbally we had told him what our issues were. This was further clear when I read that he had purposely omitted "barking" on the contract my wife signed when I was at work. So be very careful before you go with these guys. The contract will be deceiving and DO NOT sign it until you know you are getting what you want on paper. Make sure you DEMAND pictures and videos of your dog and have him write that down on the contract too. Now we are left with a dog who keeps on barking and pulling, and lunging, except his lunging is more dangerous now. read more

After 4 weeks of being with Juan, his behavior improved remarkably, of course, in order to achieve the expected results, one must be consistent at home and follow the instructions that he does or the training is missed. One day passing a four way intersection I spot a man with a van (as creepy as it sounds) in front of a row of dogs telling them to sit, lay,place,etc. with a banner showing a number to call for dog training. My boyfriend and I have a two year old American bulldog named Ruffus who has to stay with his parents because where we live the owner does not want big dogs if they are not trained and a 5 month old Yorkshire Terrier named Milo. We have been looking for a trainer for a very long time but it was very difficult do to the fact that they wouldn't pick up the phone. I have never had any experience with a trainer before but I am obviously not satisfied with this company. My boyfriend calls and speaks to a man named Juan who when is called asked if my boyfriend can speak Spanish luckily for Juan he did. We make an appointment the same day to evaluate our dog. He comes in the van that I mentioned earlier to evaluate Ruffus for less than two minutes and the he asks my boyfriend to put him in the patio so that we can speak of the prices for training which is $1500.00. He starts the conversation by saying that our dog is a (SPECIALCASE) and tells us that for our case he should charge us more than $1500.00. He told us that we can do the training at the house or he can take Ruffus to an academy to which they would supposedly be training him 24/7,either way the price was the same for both. He also tells us that he can train Ruffus to be a service dog and that if we were to do the process with them the instatement fee would be cheaper. Now trust me we would've loved to do the home training but where me and my boyfriend live the owner does not want any big dogs that are not trained. So in desperate need for a trainer we accept (unfortunately). He tells us to be ready the following Monday at 10:00 a.m. My boyfriend and I were ready since 7:00 a.m. waiting out the door at 9:50 a.m. we call to confirm if he is still coming, he says that he is on his way. Its about 10:30 and he still has not arrived we give him a call and he says that he is running late because of a training session (supposedly). He arrives at 11:45 and tells my boyfriend to mount Ruffus in his van, as my boyfriend is struggling to put Ruffus in the van for five minutes straight a very delayed lightbulb came on top of Juans head to help him put Ruffus in the van. Juan was so quick to ask for the deposit of Ruffus's training instead of first explaining of how we would see Ruffus's training or if we were to ever able to visit him. According to Juan you can not see a dog in the process of training because the dog would just go steps back from the whole training process,he than tells us in about two days he would send us a video through WhatsApp of the progress that Ruffus would be gaining. Before Juan leaves I ask him out of curiosity where this dog training facility was, Juan responds Redland. Two days pass and my boyfriend sends Juan a message asking about Ruffus and if he can send the information pertaining to make Ruffus a service dog, still no response my boyfriend already furious to the lack of respect this man has calls Juan and he still doesn't respond so we leave a message saying that were worried about Ruffus he than sends a video at almost 9:00 P.M. that was literally 30 seconds long and had huge letters putting his number and name of dog training services that barely let me see Ruffus, we already knew his number it makes no sense to me of why he's sending us a video of our dog with his number that covers the whole video but whatever. We wait two weeks to send him a message to see how Ruffus is doing so that he wouldn't have the excuse to say we were driving him crazy the whole time sending him messages. On the last week of Ruffus's training my boyfriend sends Juan message to see how everything is going and he never responded (SHOCKER) he than calls Juan and by surprise he responded saying that he knows that he hasn't sent any videos but that he would by the end of the day. Three days pass by we call again he answers the phone in an annoyed tone like if we have fun calling him every single second. At the end of the day all we want to know that OUR dog is fine we only called because he never would keep us up to date with OUR dog. He sends us a video of Ruffus on the last Friday of his training after my boyfriend had called him earlier that day to ask him that what his problem was. The video was 54 seconds long and our dog had looked skinnier than the day we had given him to Juan. So pretty much in the matter of a month we had only seen two videos of Ruffus while he had all the time in the world to put videos on instagram of dogs he or someone else had trained but sure enough he had time for that. My advice don't ever let people like this cheat you for your money, and don't ever be embarrassed or shy to ask about your dog or to ask for videos to see the progress they have made its your money don't let it go to waist. I would like to rate k-9 top dog training the best training I have ever encountered in miami. The experience was amazing. I just got my golden retriever back after a 3 week training and the change incredible. Im very happy with the processional work juan has done with my puppy. Apart from teaching him the right ways and taking his time to teach myself and family how to manage our golden, juan took the time to take care of my puppy. Max came back bathed and in perfect condition. Im very happy I was referred to juan and cant wait for the next boarding/training in the next months! This dog training is by far the best I have wver encountered. I had previously taken my puppy to a training at applause your paws that left my puppy just getting more aggresive, thankfully my groomers led me to this amazing training by juan. Max has been with me now for 2 days and so far hes been listening to every command. Yes I am using an ecollar only because you need to reinforce the command until the puppy understands your the alpha and he respects. This dosent change from one night to the other you need to be consistent like everything in life. The reviews below me are awful and terribly incorrect.
