The house appeared trashed, chaotic, and nowhere near the professional environment we were promised when paying for "professional" dog training services. Nothing about this experience reflected the level of care, structure, or quality that was advertised. Attending the group sessions is also wonderful for socializing your dog. Beyond the basics they have agility training and other advanced classes. I gave Tracy, the owner, a call and gave her a background history on our 10mo old Sheltie and where we hoped to be with him in the future. Aside from doing agility for fun, we also really wanted to add some titles to his name. Tracy recommended we try a 6-week a Sports Sampler course to see which sports we liked and which ones our dog liked. Although we were set on starting foundations for agility, we signed up for the course and hoped for the best. My boyfriend, my dog, and I all really look forward to this class every week with Shayla. She is an awesome trainer and is so sweet with our Archer. Every week we try a different dog sport, from rally to agility to treiball to tricks and balancing. The class is really fun and the hour goes by so quickly!! I'm glad we took the sampler course after all, and will begin agility foundation as planned once this course is through. My dog was dog aggressive, could never take her to a dog park, taking her on a walk or anywhere where we could possibly encounter another dog was a nightmare. She was stubborn and would listen to me maybe 50% of the time on a good day. Everyone told me to use positive methods, take her near a dog park and give her treats every time she looks at a dog. None of that worked. I was told she was reactive and I just needed to accept that. But my dog was so reactive and fearful she was not enjoying life. On the first day with Richard, I saw an immediate change, she was able to walk by a dog and not even bark or lunge or make a sound. It was crazy! Richard was right... coming into this my dog didn't trust me and let me tell you his methods not only improved my dog's life but improved my relationship with my dog. By the third day of training my dog was in the dog park, playing and running around with other dogs and you could see how happy she was, it was like a weight of fear was lifted off her shoulders, I could not believe it. Now I go to dog parks two to three times a week. At first, I was skeptical about e-collar training, but seeing how quick and effective it was and how knowledgeable Richard was with this I definitely grew more comfortable with it and am convinced there truly is no other way, but the most important thing here is Richard.
