Well I've always liked K&D Deli I live in Hyde Park and have been going there for year's but in the last few years I've watched it go down hill not only in Hyde Park but in all the other store's . But today was the last time I'll be going there the smell of the place was so bad and it look's like no one is even cleaning anymore, the person making my sandwich didn't have glove's on and he had a Baird with no face cover on and I found a hair on my sandwich (and it wasn't mine) and I had to throw it out and it also had a taste of soap on the roll . I know it's not the fault of the worker's I know the owner doesn't do much at all to help improve the working conditions if he did he would still have all 4 of the store's now he's down to 1 or 2 that tells you a lot about the type of person he is . It's sad because at one time they had the best place around now it's a dump . read more

Growing up in Hyde Park this deli was always a staple. It's been sad to watch the decline of their service over the last couple of years but good service is hard to find. Today pushed me a little too far though. Today I decided to call ahead. When I arrived 15 minutes later to pick up they were unaware of my order. That's fine, things happen, people get busy, I GET IT. But what I won't stand for is their manager (or whoever he was) walking behind the deli telling them "don't worry she called the wrong store". I grew up on Haviland Rd my entire life, I could recite you their number by heart. I didn't make a comment about having to wait for my sandwhich so his remarks were unnecessary. When I approached the girl at the register and asked if the number I called was their number, she didn't even know the stores number. Just a very unwelcoming and unprofessional atmosphere. read more

I posted a review a year or two ago and never thought it could get any worse then what I posted the last time but it has , from the help to the how on clean the place is the minute you walk in the smell hits you in the face (not in a good way) I don't know where they get their help from but some people shouldn't be handling food other then their own . they may want to try and clean the place the floors look like shit and smell like it . the only reason I went into the deli today was my dad wanted something they only have but I would rather take a 30 minute drive then step foot into that place again . Extremely rude woman behind the deli counter. We came in at 8:15 ordered two wraps with only ham and cheese and she wouldnt even look at us ehile asking what we wanted. Then after she made those my husband tried to order it was 8:30 by this point. All he wanted was a pastrami sandwich n she nastily told him that she closes at 9 so she wasn't gonna make it. Keep in mind she didn't even make eye contact with us the whole time. Why take half an order if you arent going to finish it? All the renovations in the world make absolutely no difference to make up for the terrible attitude of the employees and managers here. Pros : it's close by, open till 9 pm Cons : very expensive, rude staff and management, roof leaks after all those renovations (shows they cheap out) sandwiches are way too pricey for how little meat and cheese they put on, Previous employee tips : not a good place to work for. They are the type of place to not fire you, but instead will cut your hours down so much that you eventually quit. They will even have someone new start working before hand. (New York State calls that strategic firing). Also, if you have chronic illnesses, even if you have medical proof from legitimate doctors, they do not care and will fire you anyway ( or force you to quit like they have done to many previous employees) I also got wind that a class action lawsuit is in the works from previous employees here about some of the illegal practices that take place at all 3 locations. So if anyone knows of a former employee who would like to become part of the lawsuit, please contact me. Final word : all in all, if your hungry, close by, and don't mind paying way too much for way to little, then stop on by. However, you are better off taking your money elsewhere that will actually give you your monies worth. read more

I don't know what happened with this K & D location. It has been going downhill fast since the new owners took over. The previous owners and workers actually knew how to make a sandwich and work with their customers you would walk inside and feel welcomed and comfortable. But for some reason the new owners love hire the likes of drug dealers and bottom of the barrel incompetent workers with short tempers. It's sad to see this business go down hill because growing up I'd enjoy going there but unfortunately they lost my business. read more

This place has been under renovation for awhile, but the changes so far look really good! The service here isn't the friendliest(smile, girls!), but the sandwiches are fresh and delicious! They get the orders right every time, so that makes up for the lack of friendliness. read more

They have messed up our order so many times . We went one last time to try since it's convenient and on our way to work . We explained to the employees how the last three times we've ordered sandwiches they have been wrong , as we were telling them this, the red head behind the counter rolled her eyes so hard we thought her eyes were going to pop out of her head. Then we hear her say " I don't like people with attitude ". Maybe if they made the sandwiches correctly the first time we wouldn't have to put them in their place. If you are interested in getting great deli sandwiches,look no further than K &D deli in Hyde Park. The bread and rolls are fresh,and the meats and cheeses are so delicious. However,this is not "fast food" the place is always busy, because the food is so great. So be prepared to spend some time waiting for your lunch. If you are pressed for time, this place is not your best option. And it's not a cheap lunch either. You'll easily drop a sawbuck or more on your sandwich,drink and chips. Been there always way to slow. No one helps each other out when someone has a large order. Deli girl always rude don't recommend it only good for a fast cup of coffee. Unfortunately it is the only local deli that has somewhat good coldcut sales. But cut the way you want is another story. read more

Between the ultra-long lines and the fact that the one employee told me they ran out of the rolls, really lead to one dissatisfied customer. I was there 2 days ago. I ordered 2 salads which were already prepared all they had to do was add grilled chicken to one and ham turkey cheese on the other...an hour later...it was ready went to get dressing and they were out of blue cheese which is all my husband prefers. Had I known I wouldn't have ordered him a salad. On another note the service was absolutely horrible besides all the cell phone usage ...the cashier and deli worker started arguing with each other which was very uncomfortable to stand and watch along with the other 3 customers waiting. I have decided to not return to this k &d even though it is 5 minutes away. It's just not worth it and I was willing to pay the extra price as it is pretty high. Eeekkkk, I live locally and find it convenient to have a deli in town. Although I just wish that I could purchase their salads such as potato and macaroni and have them last in my refrigerator more than one day. They tell me that they are made in store but I don't believe that. They're very pricey for a deli, all the employees in there always seem a bit distracted. I went on recommendation from a friend, and I really wanted to have a good experience. Everyone loves a local sandwich shop... but this was not good. The food I got was okay but I suspect I would have enjoyed it more if I had been able to order what I actually wanted. Despite the fact it is was more than an hour until closing, the grill had been turned off, they were completely out of sub rolls, and when I choose a sandwich, they did not have the chips that accompany it. I work in restaurants and understand the challenges that go along with it, and respect the hard work that they do, but with more than an hour until closing you can't be turning off equipment, particularly when are out of some key ingredients. I hope that this was a fluke experience and maybe I will try it again but all in all, it was disappointing. read more

I live right down the road from this place and I will now go all the way down to the Marist deli or Poughkeepsie if I have to. Every time I went to this place I felt uncomfortable. The staff all have nasty attitudes. My last time ever coming to this place was the other day when my boyfriend went out and ordered a sandwich for me. I wanted turkey, cheese, and mayo on a hard roll. My bf was waiting for a long time to order and the guy was chatting a lot with his employees. The guy making the sandwich asked a few times again what the order was while making it and clearly he was distracted by talking to people. When my bf finally came home with the sandwich it had literally only a few slices of turkey on it when they always stack it up and it only had lettuce on it. Not even cheese and the we were charged $7.99! For a sandwich that was completely skimped on turkey and not what we ordered at all. I called them and told them the situation and just said is there anything we can do about it can we get our money back or make a new sandwich and the employee who made the sandwich basically called me a liar said that my bf didn't order turkey cheese and mayo and my issue is a personal problem and there's nothing he's going to do. All of these employees need to be swept out of there and replaced with people who know how to talk to customers and aren't dirtbags. Me getting the wrong sandwich is a PERSONAL problem?
