One of the most unique cafes I've been to in recent memories. From the Ground Up, is located deep inside a 55+ senior living townhouse community. Shakshuka (traditionally African or Middle Eastern) is a dish of eggs poached in a spiced tomato sauce with onions, peppers, garlic, chickpeas, and kale served with bread to soak up that wonderful red sauce and egg yolk. While waiting, I noticed another group that stated they were a party of 9 was seated ahead of us, even though there were only 7 people, while we were a party of 6, including children. That left me confused and frustrated, especially since we had called ahead and were patiently waiting our turn. I left feeling disappointed and uncomfortable. I can't speak to why the wait list was handled the way it was, but the experience made me feel that we were treated unfairly. I used to come to this diner often, and because of this experience, I will not be returning. More importantly, I hope no other family has to leave feeling the way we did today.
