Came in a quick breakfast, people behind the counter saw me and took my order quickly. Plus we're though with asking me if wanted ketchup, salt and pepper on my sandwich. Kind sad that when I got rung up the counter person was too busy to ring up my order because she was conversing with another counter person and only acknowledged me because the guy she talking to pointed at me, I was thanked for my order, but it's like stop talking and ring up the customers in front of you. Sadly, this deli has gone so far downhill. used to like K&D all locations. They were always clean, food was fresh service was great. Not anymore. This is the third time I gave them a try. will say have great donuts, except ordered two and guy actually blew into bag to open it up and put donuts in. couldn't believe it. just said changed mind don't want any donuts. love their salads or used to. Had bad potato salad. Yesterday gave one more try. macaroni salad rancid. As mentioned by another reviewer sometimes nobody's doing anything especially ringing you up. For the amount of money they charge, and it is extra if you use a card, I'm not gonna try again. I don't know how long they can stay in business like this. What a shame. read more

I went in before reading the reviews at 10:30am. It's not 5 star food but taste delicious it's just plain deli sandwiches what do you expect? The service was great told the girl what I wanted and came out exactly what I asked for. I always pay cash for food so the 4% service charge isn't an issue but I don't know why people are complaining same thing happens when you pay for gasoline. And at least you get service here and don't have the Covid touch screen kiosk where you have to touch a screen to place your order or scan your own groceries. I'm not supporting this business anymore...I came in to get a breakfast sandwich this morning, and the first customer I see standing in line has his mask hanging off his ears and no one is saying anything about it. When I went to pay for my sandwich, the cashier thought I was going to pay with a card. He told me the price of the sandwich. When I took out some cash, he told me a very different price. I asked why?. He said it's because we're charging a higher fee for credit cards. There is no signage indicating this change in policy. I've always felt the prices at all locations are so overpriced, but always willing to give second chances. Stopped for breakfast sandwiches and wanted to inquire about 1-2 ft subs. The woman who took our order was basically nasty, unhelpful, and clearly not happy. We didn't even get the chance to ask about different sizes before we were abruptly told "we can't do that, you need to order way in advance' . She was extremely rude and exhibited the opposite of customer service. To add to the terrible experience, the sandwiches were mediocre at best. Apparently you have to ask for double eggs. After driving home from an amazing weekend. I wanted a sandwich. A good sandwich. A sandwich that wouldn't remind me that tomorrow is Monday. So, the only place I even consider going in Poughkeepsie is K&D. The service is great, the menu is awesome and place is pretty impeccable. They even have a place to sit and enjoy it on premises. We come here every Friday and get sub sandwiches - it's sort of a tradition. The sandwiches are always good, and we order them over the phone so they're always ready when we come and get them. They are a little on the pricey side though, but the quality and consistency is there. They also make French fry sides which are pretty good. It's not a bad deli at all, good for a quick afternoon sandwich. Beware though, every K&D is different. This one has good size rolls, but different K&D's can have much smaller rolls. My review is solely on their breakfast sandwiches. My wife and I have been going to "DELIlicious" based solely on the fact they're closer. If you're looking for friendly, that's the spot. But if you're looking for a good SEC, K&D is the spot. Yeah they're not as attentive as I would like when you walk up to the line to order, but after a few minutes someone always asks what you want. My family used to like this deli and I always stopped in every time I came to Poughkeepsie, but never again. My sandwich didn't have the lettuce OR jalepeños, my husband's had mayo on it when I asked for it dry and the 3rd sandwich only had meat - no cheese or onions. So disappointing. I understand that the sandwiches are made to order, but they need to be able to do more than one at a time. However, this was not the reason for the 1-star review. I don't eat meat, so that narrowed my choices down considerably. I ordered the Magic Garden sandwich which is basically mixed vegetables and mozzarella on sourdough. The sandwich was inedible since she put SO much oil on the veggies, it saturated the bread, the wrapper, and the bag. I'm surprised to see the iffy reviews because I'm here usually about once per month during lunchtime rush and overall, I am pleased. It is a fresh alternative to fast food. They are also open during the evening, which is nice. Plenty of seating so you can sit in and relax even when it is busy. Pretty extensive menu selections and they have no problem with custom requests. Staff has been consistently friendly to me. My colleagues and I have had the wraps, paninis, and salads and we've been content. They discontinued the veggie sandwich that was mentioned in another post. The salads are better than most other delis because they are made with fresh spring mix and fresh veggies. I haven't tried the baked goods but they look delicious and there is a nice selection. Also, they weigh the protein that goes into what they prepare for you, which means the quantity is pretty consistent. I appreciate knowing how much I'm going to get for my money. I just went to the deli and ordered a sub with cheese and a bacon double egg and cheese I got two pieces of candy they were $1.89 each I went up to the register and they proceeded to tell me it was $23 and change I told them no that's not right so she rang everything up and came up with a new number it was about $20 I told her no that's still not right it should be around 17 $18 she proceeded to tell me that I had to pay 4% because I use my Debit card and she ran it through as a credit instead of asking me if I wanna debit she did not tell me that I had to pay over three dollars to use my card and then by the time I told her no stop don't do it she told me it was too late the transaction was already processed k and deli on Taft Avenue stole money from me. Well, I just came home from K & D Deli Taft Ave. I ordered turkey on rye, bacon, lettuce and extra mayo. There was so little mayo, you could hardly tell there was any. I also ordered grilled turkey on a roll with grilled onions, lettuce, tomato and mayo. The turkey and onions were put on the grill, but for so little time the turkey was still cold and the onions still raw. I can only hope the young man helping me was new! Service here is better than the Marist location for sure but still not great. Tried to call in my order the other day because I was doing a thousand errands and needed to maximize my time. Called 5 times and kept getting a busy signal. Got there and went to order and let the guy know, he looked down and the phone had been knocked off the hook. Seriously??
