The first thing K&J Pool did was add a large quantity of copper, 'Blue Ray XL,' without my permission/ prior approval. The pool had been very clear since we had just changed providers and it did not require an algicide. It's not removable once poured in. We paid for service every month all autumn and winter. The bills were always hard to decipher as to which service period it covered. Later, they tried to charge me for December's in April despite not having showed up for several weeks during that timeframe. Communication/responses to my enquiries were largely non-existent. In May, several additional charges started appearing that were unspecific. I asked Tyler in person if the pool was safe for my children to swim and he replied yes. I asked him if the salt was OK and he said something like it was hard to tell. My kids then swam in mid-May during a heat wave. I took a pool sample to Leslie's a few days later out of curiosity and it failed abysmally. Free chlorine was 0.1 when it should be 1.0-4.0. The salt was 1200 when it should have been 2700-3400ppm. Everything was out of range. pH, phosphates and alkalinity too high. Calcium too low. I hope my children don't get sick. When he responded to my cancellation he had the nerve to claim our pool was locked that one week, which is simply not true. On the contrary, the gate had been open when they didn't show that one week because we were working outside all day. Would it have dropped so precipitously after just one week anyway? Mike is a really good guy. His pricing is in line for the work they do and they don't over charge. Most importantly, I trust them. I have dogs and they always check to make sure I am home before entering the back yard. I then put the dogs inside, even though they are extremely friendly and non-aggressive whatsoever. Both Mike and Cory are hard working and take pride in their profession and I really appreciate that. I had a really awful experience with Krystal Waters Pool Cleaning in Morgan Hill, after having been their customer for almost 5 years. Honestly, it was one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a business and the owners in my entire life. So I switched to K&J and Mike took over. I've been happy every since. read more

Had used them for pool service for a couple of years when I finally caught on to them adding in extra charges upon extra charges when confronted with the confusing billing they were unable to explain what the extra charges were and why so many late fees were applied to certain statements. Beware of this company Also the owner states my billing was late. I had him on autopay each month. Hard to be late when it's automatically sent each month. Guys are very nice and honest. I get the feeling they all work full time jobs and do this as a sideline. Always could only come at 7:00 AM. 1st problem - they said it was circulation pump. They Couldn't seem to source a standard circulation pump for 10 days. After I called to get progress report - I went on line and found exact replacement in 20 minutes. Ordered it myself. 2nd problem. They installed pump but it didn't fix the problem. Again they really tried to repair but couldn't figure out the core issue. They finally just gave up and left. If you have an easy fix such as an in-line heater or flow sensors they're probably good. if you have a major problem like motherboard Regrettably I cannot recommend them. read more

They hooked me up with a custom plumbing request, DE filter, new automation, pool cover, SWCG install, heater, and drain of the pool. I couldn't have asked for a more professional and timely response to my pool cleaning inquiry. We talked to Mike on a Sunday and he was out the following day @ 7am to start cleaning our pool after it was starting to not look so lovely. Mike detailed the plan of attack and executed. I hired him for my client to do the inspection and work but he was the biggest disappointment for me and client. He tried to charge my client for 2 cleanings with in a month time, replaced the vacuum with cheap one which is not doing it's work now, kept adding for the work he did not do. He left the pool in bad shape. My client never seen him doing any work but he kept telling us that he came in before 7am. I would strongly recommend not to hire him to do any work unless you are not able to find anyone else. I am sorry to give him bad review but his work is very bad. read more

We are new home and pool owners. I called Mike to see what I may have been doing wrong with our pool. I'm a Disabled Veteren don't have a very larger income but had enough to spare to have someone come in..maybe... Mike came out. On time and friendly. Talked a bit about the pool asked me if I had out the diatomaceous Earth back in the girds. I said no. (Noob error) he then told me, without opening the tank to look at the filter that I'd need to replace the grids. (250$) I said ok at first I was new. Then I asked how much it would be to get the pool back blue and he told me another 375$ on top of the 250. I know the grids are expensive. I started doing a little research and some how to videos and consulted our local pool supply store(they are awesome by the way). They told me if the grids were not broken don't fix it! Then to just buy the DE and it should start running just fine. Bottom line, after adding it. Cleaning the filter again shocking the pool and buying a nice battery operated leaf collector for the pool I only spent 250$ and a few days of my labor and the pool is blue. Saved myself 375$. I feel I was upsold things I didn't need. I feel that even though he was knowledgeable and I'm sure doing it for a long time, he played fast and loose but that would have been at my expense. Had he just helped me out with what I need and was thorough he'd have had a customer for life. read more

My experience with Mike is as some others here have stated. He promises one thing, delivers another, and then when you challenge him about it there is always a confrontation. After 4 months I fired him this week because I don't have time for a hassle from vendors. STAY AWAY from KJ Pool and Mike Guido. The latest: our pump equipment was leaking. Mike, can you fix the leak? Sure no problem $45. Great, fix it I say. Two days later, the pump is still leaking. So I call Mike and say the pump is still leaking. Most businesses would say, we'll be right out to look at it again. Not Mike. He states they fixed the problem they found. Then magically/mysteriously a new leak must have appeared. That's the only explanation he has. Can you imagine? The reality is they did a superficial job with both the inspection and the repair, and after that it's MY problem. "We did the work," he says and "the *new* leak will be another $45." Most people inspect their work afterwards, but not KJ Pool. The business ethics of this guy are unbelievable. Mike is small-ball, small minded, and unethical. He has that New York attitude where every little thing needs to be fought over. It's amazing to me people like that can remain in business. Here's a newsflash Mike, California ain't NY, people expect fair treatment. Your sense of customer care and business ethics are appalling. I hope you understand how hard you worked to earn this review. If you want over-promises and under delivering, and a hassle over every little thing, sign up with KJ Pool, your expectations will be fulfilled. If you want value for your money you will not find it at KJ Pool. Update "the system was not running" Did he really say he didn't turn the pump on? Too rich. What I expect from a vendor is to take an additional 3 seconds to flip the pump on to verify the issue or the repair, not complain about how hard it is to find the problem (puddle notwithstanding). If you and looking for an honest, reliable pool guy, Mike is your man! After being told that the parts to our pool filter "no longer exist" by sparkling pools, and being quoted up to $900 to put in a new filter, I called K and J pools. Not only did Mike set up a next day appointment, he quickly looked at my filter, ordered the parts he needed(overnighted them) and he fixed my filter the very next day! So, not only did he save me $600, he also made my pool sparkling blue in a matter of hours. When reading his yelp reviews, I was shocked to see the negative ones. Updated Review: After my prior great experience, I called Mike again when the motor on my pump went out. This is the pump that he installed about 20 months earlier. So, out of warranty, but stuff happens, not Mike's fault. He quoted $450 to replace the motor on the pump, which seemed high to me, as the whole pump, with motor can be bought online for $500, but of course, labor is expensive, so fine. He was quick again, and had a new pump in a couple of days and got it replaced. He e-mailed to say that he had it replaced, but it was leaking a little. I appreciate the heads up, and he said he would come out and put on a new plate or gasket or something. I said, great, thanks for being proactive. He came, replaced the part, and all looks good. That is until I get a bill for another $125. He didn't mention that he would be charging me for fixing the leak in the motor that he just installed. It didn't even occur to me to ask. When I asked about it, he said "what do you want me to do?". Not, "sorry for the confusion, I should have let you know that it needed new parts" or something like that. Very unprofessionally handled. I will not be giving him any more business in the future. So, new motor, $450. New motor that doesn't leak, $575. Nice. Old Review: Was 5 stars. Called at 8pm Sunday evening, Mike answered the phone and was very helpful. He called his supplier and said he could have a new pool pump Monday morning and could come to install it Tuesday. He was early! to his appointment Tuesday, got the job done, no fuss, looks great, new pump is working perfectly. Also, he gave me some O-rings to fix one of the valves on my pool equipment. I have an ancient hot tub installed in my deck. I am retired and like to do things myself when I can. Many months ago, I decided to resurrect my hot tub as both my wife and I are afflicted with arthritis and get a lot of comfort from the hot tub. But, my pump was bad, my motor was bad, and my filter had a hole in the case. I called K&J about getting the pump motor repaired. Mike Guido was most helpful. He came out to my house picked up the motor and the pump. (I felt guilty because my modest 40 year old hot tub was such an insignificant thing, but he treated me as though I had it an olympic sized pool ! ) He returned in a couple of days with the new motor ready to install , a repaired pump and a new filter. Unfortunately, I was unable to complete that installation just then, and just now got everything installed and turned on. but I had a filter leak, I contacted Mike today and told him that I had bought the filter some time ago from him, and oil was likely out of warranty, but it had a leak I thought was a mfg defect. Mike could not have been more helpful, he talked to the mfgr and they are sending him some new parts which HE will install as soon as they arrive, We are very pleased! I just hope he has some really expensive pools to take care of. He'll sure have all my business. read more

Mike said he could fix the leak on our solar system. Paid him good money to fix it but instead made it worse. We just spent more money to get his work repaired because it was leaking even more than before. I would not recommend this company. Too many excuses and not enough accountability. read more

Moved into a home with a pool. Asked around for a reliable pool service and K&J Pools came highly recommended. Not knowing anything about the care of pools and what was required, Mike was extremely helping in getting us set up to take care of our needs. We did check a few others .. .but found that K&J Pools gave us fair pricing. They have been wonderful with the customer service. They take care of everything from our weekly cleanings (which with the warm weather has been useful) to advising on any equipment that would help our pool run more efficiently. I was having problems with my pool equipment. I emailed a few service providers. Mike at K & J Pool Service were one of the first to reply. They were very helpful and we were able to set an early morning appointment so I did not lose time from work. They identified the problem , gave me couple of options for the repair that could keep the cost down. They set appointment to repair and kept appointment and repaired my pool equipment. Don't bother hiring this man Jeff or this company. He started to fix our pool in FEBUARY...only been here a few times since then for maybe a hour or 2 at a time. Had us order materials for repaint job and had us sandblast the pool to prep for him. Never shows up!!! Never returns a call. Full of excuses. Job sits incomplete as the 90 degree days are coming this weekend. Last spoke goal was mothers day Lmfao. Hasn't been here since saturday...5 gorgeous day of him not showing up to work and the pool sitting empty. What a waste. Please find someone else. I'd hate to know there are others out there who he screwed over. We have asked for time frame for completion, asked for referrals for other contractor if he can't fix it, asked when he showing up. Few weeks ago he said he'd be back for a few hours the next day and I asked what time he'd be here, he said "when I get here" horrible horrible business. We've had Mike for at least a year. He provided chemicals for our pool, not cleaning. At first he was great. Gave great advice, pool was clear, etc. Then all of a sudden his attitude got bad and got really arrogant. Terrible. One day I noticed a lot of algae. I scraped it off wondering why would there be this much algae in the pool and noticed there was no chlorine tablets in our pool & spa floaters. Then I went into our hot tub noticing a strange smell & the feel of chlorine not on my skin. I'm a competitive swimmer so I know the feel and smell of chlorine. I do realize too that good chlorine may not smell. We finally got the water tested. No chlorine at all!! We waited for service day to come before saying anything to Mike. We witnessed a younger fellow at our home not there no longer than 2 mintues. After that we tested the water again. There was cholorine added, but not enough to last the week and no tablets were added to our floaters. At this point there was algae even in our floaters. I'm paying how much a week for this to happen? We nicely notified Mike of us cancelling service. He rudely replied back that before we acuse of anything that we know what we are talking about. Are you kidding me???!? We replied back with pictures & proof. He replied nothing! Not an apology, sorry it didn't work out, nothing! We are ontime paying customers, what kind of business are you running with that kind of attitude. We'll pass!!! read more

I would not recommend this pool service to anyone. First of all the owner is rude and arrogant. When we had him make repairs to our pump he did not complete the repairs. When confronted about the problem, he said he did the repairs and would not investigate if they were done or not. Another instance, the owner agreed to remove our cover when sweeping the sidewalls. When this was not happening, he came back and said that was not part of the service even though it had been agreed upon. It seemed like it was always a confrontation with the owner everytime we spoke with him. We finally terminated the service and have found a professional company to replace K & J. read more

We have had Mike out a few times to fix our spa, our heater, and install a new air pump for our spa. Mike is awesome. The other day our new heater broke, and I called mike panicked. Well I called this company to come out because our pool sweep and skimmer were not working properly. Mike decided for $575 we needed new filters. He changed the filters and put on some regulator on our pipes and from what I was later told we would only need the regulator if we had a spa (which we dont) and left. My pool sweep was not working so I called him back and advised the the pool sweep was just laying there limp in the pool. He sent someone out to get it moving and moving it was doing. But then I realized the skimmer was not working AT ALL!!!! Called him back he was there the very next morning with his side kick!!! They both stared at the pool with no comment just trying to change the subject. Then he said I had to run the skimmer and the sweep separately and manually change which one was going to be used. When I called him again I said the problem was still not fixed. He came out alone this time and suggested that I have an ultrasound guy look thru the concrete that there must be a leak somewhere in the pipes. Which is funny because the pool was not losing any water. So he said he was going to have his ultra sound buddy guy who could look through the concrete contact us to make an appt. Then he made it very clear there was nothing more he could/would do and not to call him anymore. There was never any contact made to us by any ultra sound guy to check for leaks in our pipes the pool sweep and skimmer still dont work which is what we called him for. But we did get new filters!!!! I would not recommend this company or Mike!!!! read more
