Kitty is an artist w finger nails and Kimberly gives the best pedicures and is also very talented at waxing! It's a one stop shop.. I've had pink & white, gel, acrylic etc.. Now I go w natural nails and that thick gel polish :-) I love it!! .. They offer parafin dips & steamed towels w the pedicure, which is a nice touch. Walkins are tough here, you usually need an appointment to be seen. .. and make sure you have plenty of time to spend, bc they're usually busy and it can take a while. A women has just got a pedicure and she used her old dirty disposable orange buffer on my hands. (Which I noticed she does on everyone) Effin disgusting and out of compliance. I asked her to get another one and she gave attitude and charged me extra and talked crap in Vietnamese to her co-worker. Dirty a$$ lady. I'm going to call the department of health. I recently went to K & K for the third or fourth time for a pedicure. The quality of their service is VERY inconsistent. My first time I was fortunate to get Kitty. She was pretty great; very thorough, meticulous, and did a great job on my callouses and my feet looked and felt really good. The next one or two times were about average and relatively inconsequential. I do remember I was definitely not nearly as pleased as the first time. I felt like they rushed through the pedicure (they had people waiting because they overbooked) and hardly worked on the callouses at all, which was disappointing because I specifically requested this when I made the appointment. Mind you, my feet are not at all yucky and are actually nice looking-- I am barefoot so much that I just get prone to callouses. My last and most recent pedicure was from Kimberly. Kitty was booked for the whole day. :( I again specified on the phone that I really wanted someone to work on my callouses. I know it was Kimberly who took the appointment because she calls people "Hun". So I arrived and she was also to do the pedicure. To get to the point, Kimberly used the razor to shave down some calloused areas and never even smoothed the skin out-- it was sliced, uneven and shiny looking everywhere she razored! Unacceptable in this line of work, as it was a totally incomplete job! Also, she did not file the nails evenly. The two big toenails were totally different from each other AND uneven and not symmetric themselves! Additionally, she got topcoat all over several of my toes and left it there. Last but not least, for some reason Kiimberly was quite unfriendly throughout the entire process, like I had inconvenienced her by being there; like she was doing me a big favor. However, she was extremely ass-kissey to the two women next to me who got full service everything just before I got there and likely was hoping for a sizable tip from them. That's the feeling I got. So if you do go here for a pedicure (I cannot speak for any other service), make the appointment with Kitty ahead of time. I would not recommend Kimberly. Sorry Kimberly. Try harder and do your job right, girl. read more

The people here are very nice, but there is one HUGE reason why I will not return here... I noticed that they double dip the sticks they use when you get a wax, which means that they are doing this for everyone else as well. When I inquired as to why they do this, the waxer said, "The wax is hot, kills the germs". Nice try, but unless they boil the wax between each customer, which I HIGHLY doubt they do, the wax pots are just a breeding ground for whatever germs the wax sticks picks up each time a new person comes in. YUCK!!!! I don't even want to begin the fathom what how gross this is for people who have their armpits done, much less brazilian waxes. Studies have shown that waxers that double dip their waxing sticks can actually spread real diseases like HPV from one customer to another. As a result, I will NEVER go here for a wax again. read more

After living in the city for years, I have been extremely spoiled by inexpensive pedicures. What I forgot was that 'inexpensive' does not exactly mean quality. I went to K&K the other day, and received the best pedicure I have had in years. The setting was relaxing, and the girls were absolutely thorough. I've been a customer of Kitty's for something along the lines of 7 years now. Back in the day she worked at Nails #1, but a about a year ago, she and her coworker decided to open up their own shop. Kitty was always the best nail technician at Nails #1, so of course when she left, I followed! Kitty is the most thorough manicurist I've ever seen, and I've tried quite a few (I would guess that I've seen at least 30 different nail techs over the years, if not more). My nails stay looking good for several weeks after my appointment, where as they inevitably start looking ratty within a week when someone else has done them. Your raggedy cuticles don't stand a chance around Kitty! :) I love the new shop, too -- it's in a great location, and it's got huge windows that let in a ton of light. Since my first review I've been back twice. Each time was a bit more disappointing than the previous. I'm bummed to be giving such a huge downgrade because it's normally not my style, but this was just not a good experience. I went in for (admittedly) a quick manicure on a Sunday afternoon. It was the day before Valentine's Day and I wanted my fingers to look as great as I felt. What I walked out with was a wallet $15 lighter and fingers that looked like an elementary schooler had done them. My nails we not filed evenly and the shapes vary per nail. At one point I noticed one of my cuticles was bleeding - I've been cut before but I've never bled much. Until now. When I examined it, a few minutes after I noticed it, the woman doing my nails said something like, "Oh, yes your cuticle was cut. That's what happens when you have cuticles like yours. We're very clean here. We're very clean." Um, your assurance of being clean is not making my finger feel better. Turns out my middle finger got nicked pretty good too. In all my years of manicures, I've never had that happen. Two fingers. And the rest look bad. All I got was a buff and shine - the buff lines are clearly visible and my nails have gouges. When it comes to getting my nails done, I'm not looking for a full on relaxing spa treatment. Massage chairs and peace and quite are nice, don't get me wrong, but walking out with cute fingers and toes are what I'm looking for. That's what K&K does best. I'm happy with my french manicure and the price was right. This is not a place you go to for ambiance, luxury pampering or service, you will get the typical nail technician that clearly hates their job. This place is simple, quick and easy to get to and that's all I need. I will definitely come back for a full mani/pedi. and save my $$ for the full spa experience for an upcoming vacation or birthday splurge. I'm in town for work and needed some work of my own done. A ten minute walk or a 30 second drive from my hotel was K&K Nails. Super friendly on the phone, they invited me to just stop on by because they could take me right then. The place was only a bit hard for me to find because I don't know this area. They are right across from the gas station, and have a few spots in the Subway parking lot. The space is light and airy and pretty clean. Kimberly was waiting as I arrived to do my wax. I got a Brazilian and a pedicure. The wax was surprisingly great, actually. Not too much pain or awkwardness, as there sometimes is with new people or new waxers. She was very thorough and although she was using honey wax, it didn't hurt at all. The waxing room isn't your amazingly-immaculate-spa-perfection room, but for $40, what do you want? The pedicure was the best part. It did take some time, but I was blown away. Kimberly confirmed I wanted the "regular pedicure" (some places I've been to haven't!!) and yet it felt like a spa pedicure. Hot towels around your legs, massages, salt scrubs...meticulous paint job. Very good for $22! That's cheap for a pedicure! She did get up to tend to a regular customer and answer the phone--but no points docked because I was on a call as well and this regular customer was a fu*king nutjob. Be wary of the "regulars" here--that fu*king nutjob came in and asked to sweep 'cause it was too dirty, was loud, acted like she was drunk and 12, it was embarrassing. Absolutely love Kitty & Kim! I've been going here for years, they definitely take good care of you! I will say this they are a two women show and do get booked up because they are that good! It's a MUST to make an appointment well in advance; you can't just walk in anytime. If you are someone that is sensitive to pain then this is NOT the nail place for you, they really get in there and clean out your cuticles weather it's mani or pedi. Eyebrow wax - AMAZING I don't know what it is but Kim has magical hands! Kitty has been consistently rude since second appointment. I no longer go there for my nails. I hated to go elsewhere as she DOES AN AWESOME FILL. Nothing happened that I'm aware of. I have observed and she has favorites and others she treats rudely. I'm guessing those she treats rudely comeback for same reasons I did. She does a great job. Yes there are nail salons everywhere but you don't know what you're getting until it's over. Anyhow, Kitty.. it's a bummer. Absolute worse customer service of any business of any kind! I walked into this horrible place this past weekend with a nail catastrophe (my freshly manicured toes and nails from another establishment chipped due to certain shoes I was wearing)... Hoping to either buy the color to fix it myself or wait for a polish change, I was rudely told by one of the associates that they didn't have my color, and they had no time. It was only 2 customers there and they were both finishing up. I said ok, can I just buy the color, as I located one that looked similar, only to have the bottle of Polish snatched out of my hands stating "that is not your color, no, no, no!" I was in Mill Valley visiting a friend, and I am there at least 5 times a month. These women have no idea, I could have become a regular customer, but after this treatment I will NEVER go back. Don't they realize there are nail shops on every corner. Rudeness does not have to be and will not be tolerated! If I could give negative stars I would. Stay away from this place. read more

I went to Kitty for many years when I lived in Marin, always careful with me since I am a diabetic. I only wish they had someone as good and caring up here since I moved 6 months ago to Grass Valley. I had one pedi and it only lasted a week or so, the pollish chipped off. When I went to Kitty, my pedi's lasted and lasted, they never once chipped off. I highly recommend K and K. They are caring, clean and professional. I only wish I was closer than 2.5 hours away. Kitty would not do acrylics for me any more because my nails got too thin. She told me it was not good for me. I wanted to love this nail salon, however, I left with my feet hurting as much, if not more than when I arrived. The tech kept trying to convince me that the water was indeed NOT hot. I know, usually you've got to beg them to warm it up enough to be comfortable but this was the opposite extreme! It was only when I put my feet in the water yet again and pulled out red (1st degree burns-well, looked and felt like) that she added cold water! WTF? I don't care much for an insensitive service provider, whatever the service....how many times does one expect to be jabbed and cut (yes, now I'm bleeding) before enough is enough? Finally, a tough week at work last week resulted in a few blisters on my feet. She just ripped those healing woulds right off! You guessed it-more blood. Finally....the torture was complete and I really wanted to get up and run out of there and find a shot of tequila! Perhaps it would help to numb my poor feet! Anything positive you ask? Had brow wax and the person doing the procedure pushed in my eyeballs. I had a 3:15 appt today...at 3:30 the person who was supposed to do my nails finally came out and said, 'do you have an appt?". I bring friends and family all the time, 2 of my best girlfriends and my mom are now regulars as well. I only wish they were closer to my home, but these ladies are worth the drive! Any time I've tried somewhere closer, though, I get a terrible set of nails or a butchered pedicure that Kitty and Kim have to fix. I call them my nail doctors ;) The prices are very reasonable, especially for Southern Marin. And they have a prepay option that gets you every 11th service of your choice free. My nails can last a whole month without lifting, breaking, chipping, cracking...nothing. But I can't stay away that long, or I'd miss the hot stone massage pedi's too much! The shop is quiet and bright, right off the freeway in Tam Junction next to Subway. It's a great place to lose yourself for a few hours, relax in the massage chairs and let these ladies pamper you. read more
