The K&S guys are great! While we had to pause our remodel plans due to some life events, they were extremely supportive, kind, and answered every single one of our questions. We went through a good amount of the pre build plannings process with them (initial call, review of DRAFT plans, revising plans, discussing timelines, how our city building and permitting office works, etc.) Shaul and Al checked in with us weekly to see how things were going when we had "homework" to send them, which we appreciated given that we have a toddler who keeps us plenty busy. They never used high pressure sales tactics with us or insulted our design or building preferences, which was so refreshing. They did offer their advice and experiences to steer us to a more affordable and timely build. We hope we can get our remodel back on track soon, and K&S will be one of our first calls! read more

I would highly recommend K&S Design Build. I found them on Yelp by submitting a request for quotes from contractors for my full house remodel. I met with multiple contractors and decided to move forward with K&S because they best understood what I wanted to see out of this remodel, quoted within the budget I was shooting for and answered every seemingly ridiculous question I had. They were patient while keeping in close contact during my decision process. Shaul and Alon were both very knowledgeable and seemed just as excited for my project as I was. It made me confident they were the right choice. Throughout the process, they did an amazing job. They were quick, with solid work. They stayed on the city for permits and planning and did everything within their control to keep things moving to hit our target timeline. The work is all top quality and anything that wasn't perfect was fixed quickly and with a good attitude. You could tell they understand that this is a huge expense and that the work needs to reflect that. They never made me feel bad for any idea, even if it was brought up way later than it should have been. Everything we brought to them they made work. K&S really saved the day for us! Out of all the contractors that my wife and I interviewed, Alon and Shaul offered the most competitive pricing, while also bringing their passion, imagination, and flexibility to the project. And they also surrounded themselves with other talented individuals who were able to turn our vision into reality. We broke ground in February by stripping the house down to its studs. Our space is a 3 bed/2.5 bath built in 1939 with a relatively small footprint (~1400 sq. ft.) meaning that we had to get creative with our design to accommodate the needs of our growing family. A major part of the work that K&S did for us was to break down multiple walls separating the cramped kitchen, dining and living rooms and opening them up into a single spacious great-room. Kiki, the interior designer, was invaluable during this process. To accommodate our home's limited space, she proposed several ingenious designs to meet our needs. This included running a pair of beautiful open shelves across the kitchen windows for extra storage space, as well as building an attached bench into the kitchen island so that the dining area would feel less crowded. These daring design choices were real game-changers when it came to making our house feel comfortable and unique. Vlad, the K&S architect, brought really good insight into the permitting process. As a former city permit inspector, he ensured that K&S was able to pull permits quickly and efficiently, so that we were able to start demo with minimal delay. Several other parts of the work also really stood out. The handmade artisanal tilework in our kitchen and bathroom were so well-done that another contractor friend of ours made a point to call it out. Likewise, the drywall work has a smooth clean finish that transitions seamlessly into the ceiling. And finally, the custom-made cabinets that the K&S carpenter built for us have a luxury look-and-feel to them that would have been impossible to replicate if we had gone the pre-fab route. K&S also did a great job of helping us navigate the unexpected surprises that come with home renovation. Because the house was so old, we faced a number of issues such as termites, mold damage, and a leaky roof. K&S was flexible and quick about adding these issues into their scope of work, and they were able to find subcontractors who could fix those issues efficiently. They were also great about updating us regularly throughout the project via our WhatsApp group. We moved into our place around August and got settled in quickly. The space already feels like ours, and we hope to call this place our home for the rest of our lives. Overall, the experience was excellent, and thinking back, it would have been a VERY different story if we had gone with a different contractor. I contacted K&S looking for a general construction company that can deliver the job on time in budget and at the same time pay attention to details especially when it comes to finishes. My project was not so simple with details and I knew i have to find high end contractors company that can manage the work properly and be most efficient as possible. We made 1000 sqft addition with master suite and additional room and bathroom to our house and we renovated the rest including electrical, plumbing, custom kitchen, 3 bathroom, interior paint, hardwood floors, trims and casings and exterior restoration. It was a once in a lifetime experience for us and we are very happy we went through that with this company.
