I found Artistic Floral Designs on WeddingChannel.com. They had good reviews, so I contacted Valerie with my budget to setup a consultation. She was very flexible, and met with me later in the evening to accommodate my work schedule. When I arrived Valerie was with another bride. She gave me several books with examples of her work (sorted by color!) to look thru while she finished. The photos were very nice, and it looked like she did great work. The meeting went well, and we discussed options for over an hour. She was very nice, presented well and she had some really good ideas. Unfortunately, she wasted my and her time. She has a $1,500 minimum per event, which was way over my budget amount. On top of that, my flower quote was only at $800 because I was making my own centerpieces, so she was going to charge an additional $700 to rent an arch to meet her minimum. I decided to go with a florist recommended by my venue. I liked Valerie, but was unhappy with how the price situation was handled. I told her my amount upfront, and I would have appreciated it if she had done the same.

After working with her for two events, we can honestly say that we have no hesitations in recommending her and her team. And these people aren't the easiest to please--the majority are physicians, as these are hospital events. She has been instrumental in helping us pick venues, line up top-notch vendors, and coordinate everything to come together perfectly, all while working within our budget. She's always been very responsive to any emails and calls we've made to her. Any concerns we had were always addressed immediately. I had worked with them for many events previously when working for a former employer planning their large fundraising galas. In that role I used them for at least 5 of our large galas and was always impressed. It was Davenport Designs' professionalism, ease to work with and extreme talent that made them my first choice for doing the flowers for my big day. However, I must admit that they did far exceed my already high expectations of them. Having an arts background, visuals are very important to me and to nobody's surprise I had a definite vision for the ceremony and reception decor. The look combined elements of both a woodland and vintage design theme (which prompted a look of doubt from my then-fiancé). Their execution was elegant, creative and nothing short of breathtaking. This wasn't your typical vase of flowers at the center of each table like most wedding receptions. These were a work of art. I Went into the store in December 11,2024 to place an order 10 days in advance for a corsage for my…read moremom's 95th Birthday. I was very specific with what I wanted for my mom and worked with a woman to place the order for nearly 30 minutes. First of all, this woman had no idea about the differences between Corsage and boutonnière. A corsage is typically worn by the woman on her left chest(pin-on) or wrist(wristlet) while the boutonniere is worn by the man on his left lapel. She kept calling the corsage for my mom a boutonnière. I wanted my mom to be able to wear it either pinned on, or on her wrist, because I wasn't sure what would be most comfortable for her. She was very happy to inform me that they had a magnet to affix the corsage in her clothing instead of a pin. I thought that was wonderful and she'd her to use the magnet, as the pin might not be good with mom's limited dexterity. I was very specific about the flowers being large fuchsia or hot pink roses and also specific about the ribbon choice. I returned to pick up the corsage on 12/21 and was appalled to find a corsage made of light pink small roses with brown edges. She said that was the best they had. I showed the younger girl an example of what I had expected right in the flower refrigerators! I then discovered that the magnet was not on the corsage. Instead they had go hit glued a diaper safety pin to the back, which was totally unmanageable. I asked her to change it and she said they were out of them! She said that one was out aside, but given to another customer and then they ran out of them! I asked to a long stick pin, and she said they didn't have them. I was and still am incredibly angry and disappointed with the whole situation!! This girl knew how upset I was over this, as this was a very special celebration for my mom and I entrusted this to them! My mother never wore the corsage on her wrist, and my sister ended up somehow tying it to her purse. It was such a disappointment! I have never received a call from the florist to try to make things right with me, even though I had asked the stupid girl to have her call me. Whoever left this inexperienced, knowledgeable girl alone in the shop that day should have their heads examined! Beyond that, they charged me $50 for the thing they called a corsage!!! These people are not trained florists. Do not use them, you'll be disappointed!
