Dahlia Blooms really delivered for our wedding! Beata brought to life my vision of vivid magenta and purple bouquets for my wedding. I loved that she emailed me links to photos of different types of flowers to understand what I like, and then knowing that, she invited me in to the shop to take a look at some mock ups she put together for my and the bridesmaids' bouquets and the table centerpieces. I am a visual person, so this was greatly appreciated! She is also very responsive to email and very accommodating to any tweaks I wanted to make to numbers for everything from the arrangements used in the ceremony to the boutonnieres to the corsages. All of the bridal party flowers were delivered in a timely manner to my hotel room on wedding day and clearly labeled, and the rest of the flowers were transported to our venue, the Kenilworth Club. The only hiccup in the process was that early on, Beata indicated she could rent an arch for our ceremony and provide some pictures of those options, but 2 weeks before the wedding, it came to light that she thought I was renting the arch and having it brought to the venue. Outside of that last minute scrambling, everything came together. Finally, Dahlia Blooms offers competitive pricing. I got another quote from a florist in Evanston, and they were $600+ more expensive. I would highly recommend Dahlia Blooms! read more

Unfortunately, I didn't get the name of the individual who handled my order, but I'm assuming she was the owner because she went to the flower market and selected the perfect flower types that I had requested. This review is overdue but I cannot tell you how happy I was when I found Beata! She is very responsive and easy to communicate with. Finding a good florist during my wedding planning process was not easy but Beata alleviated much of that stress when I reached out to her! I did not feel like she was trying to up sell me anything, gave me honest feedback and reasonable quotes. The night before our wedding, I could not find my cake topper, I reached out to Beata and she was able to just add some more flowers to cover the top of the cake. We just used Paradise Flowers/ Dahlia Blooms (new name, same people and location) for our wedding on 4/20/13, and I could not be happier with the service and results! We worked with Beata (her and her mother work there) and she was incredibly helpful and sweet! They are new florist for everything now. I had ideas about using wildflowers and succulents in our wedding flowers and Beata helped me come up with the perfect mixes and designs. We loved how it turned out! As for what others said about the locked door, it can be a little inconvenient, but they always answer right away when they are open, and as a woman I totally understand the security thing. My BF (now husband) used Paradise to send me flowers because they were in my neighborhood. The bouquets were always well put together, came in a nice vase, and lasted quite long, and delivery was timely as well. They also customized some standard bouquets upon request (added or removed particular types of blooms). After the BF & I got engaged, we decided we would use them for the wedding because not only did they have a nice selection, but their prices were reasonable as well. Beata was soooooo helpful--taking my notions of color and turning them into what became perfect bouquets--and very patient, giving me all sorts of options as I went through her books. (May I point out that she has a pretty good memory for her customers as well, since she remembered my husband ordering bouquets even though there had been some time since the last delivery) Wedding flowers arrived on time; they helped those who needed it to attach boutonnieres or corsages, and stayed through the ceremony to transport our altar decorations to the reception hall. You won't be disappointed, but give yourself time if you need flowers for some affair. It's a small shop and a small staff to handle deliveries, and their schedule can fill up quickly. (Add-on: my mother went in recently to donate some vases and the women remembered her from my wedding over a year ago and gave her a rose to carry home, too.) read more

So a couple of weeks ago a dear friend of mine died. On a Tuesday afternoon I found out the wake would the next day in Melrose Park. Well with all the back and forthing with a couple of other nameless friends no one else wanted to kick in for the flowers so I said the hell with it I'll just get something myself, she deserved it. Melrose Park is not exactly a hotbed for good florists so I took to Yelp to help me find somebody. After reading all the great reviews I called Dahlia Blooms at about 5:00 pm hoping for the best. I have to say whomever answered the phone at first was pretty crabby and there may have been a little bit of a language barrier or maybe was having a bad day. When I tried to explain the arrangement I had seen on their website she told me they didnt have the peach roses shown so I asked for pink, she said no, so I asked what they did have and was told white and purple only (???) but hey it was midweek and I needed them for the next day so I was open to something else. She then handed the phone over to what I have to believe was the owner who was super nice and I explained that I had about $40 to spend before delivery and tax and that I just wanted some pretty flowers and was open to any arrangement she saw fit since I needed them there the next day by 2 pm and it was already 5pm. Wow!!! The next day at the funeral parlor I saw the flowers and they were absolutely gorgeous, the aforementioned purple and lavender roses with some greenery and a couple of other flowers in just a beautiful thoughtful arrangement. Can I give more than 5 stars?? I used Dahlia Blooms for my wedding in October per the recommendation of a friend. We worked with Beata and she could not have been sweeter. She was able to take all of my visions and ideas and create stunning arrangements - exactly what I had been picturing. I made changes along the way and even asked her to make a last minute change the day before my wedding. She was extremely accommodating and had no problems making these changes. I received SO many compliments on the flowers. When you are planning a wedding, it really makes a difference when the vendors are friendly and personable. New name, but same people working here, same great service. So why not recycle my old review? If first impressions mean everything to you, keep walking. The store is a little dingy and cluttered, and they don't seem to have a vast selection of flowers. But if you give Dahlia Blooms a chance, you'll be back again and again. The florist is an older Polish lady who speaks with a cute accent and always wears a smile on her face. She'll hook you up with a nice arrangement, or simply suggest one of the few already on display. The prices of the flowers can't really be beat either, unless of course your florist is Dominick's or Jewel. Typically a long-stem rose seems to run you around $5 each these days, but when I bought one from Dahlia, I also got a glass vase for it and only paid around $4 total. She told me how to take care of the flower daily, and this rose lasted an entire two weeks before it began to wilt! Unfortunately, the second rose I bought from there lasted half that time, but that's the best you can hope for, right? I appreciate their honesty too. When I walked into the shop in early February to check out some bouquets, another woman who worked there told me they're more expensive that time of year, but the uptick in price was a reflection of the vendors increasing rates due to Valentine's Day. Makes sense to me. Dahlia Blooms is my new go-to spot when I feel like being a good boyfriend. read more

Yesterday my dad called me at around 9:30AM because it was my moms birthday and he wanted to send her flowers at work and every place he knew of was too far to deliver to her job. So I took to the internet and found Dahlia Blooms. I immediately called and spoke to a very nice and accommodating woman on the phone. I explained the situation and said it had to be delivered today and that we wanted to spend $45.00- I told her any bouquet would do! She said they would have it there by 2:00PM. Around 12:30 PM I got a call from my dad saying that my mom loved the flowers! Later I talked to my mom myself and she said they were some of the most beautiful flowers she'd ever seen. We were referred to them by a good friend of ours and coincidentally, a friend of mine also used them as their wedding florist years ago. She said the flowers turned out great, Beata was so easy to work with, and the price was the best. While I didn't shop around for florists, I trusted my two friends and never looked back! My husband and I love Beata & her mom! They are so adorable, generous, and genuine. Their team works so hard (c'mon, who wants to work weekends to setup for weddings then come back after midnight to take things back?), and Beata is very prompt with emails. I sent her a lot of pictures and also changed my mind on some things during the last month, but she handled it all so calmly and with a smile! They are a family-owned small business so if you're looking for non-standard decor (like, unique vases or crystals or tree branches), she will have to go out & buy them from her industry people, but she'll send you pictures of them to make sure it's what you want. (You have the option to buy them yourself too and have her bring them to your venue... not sure what happens to them afterwards, though, but I assume you keep them or sell them to her? Beata did an amazing job - I went into the shop one time to show her pictures and describe what I was looking for in terms of ceremony flowers, bouquets, and centerpieces - and when they showed up the day of they were perfect. I was born and raised in the Chicagoland area, and I was planning a out of town wedding, which is NO easy task. My husband and I currently live in the Philadelphia area. Beata made picking flowers so easy, sending everything to me via email and/or talking to me on the phone. She always remembered who I was when I called her. When asked how much you would like to spend on flowers, she respects your budget and always gives her honest opinion. In my case, the church I was getting married at already had a lot of decorations and flowers, and Beata even told me that some of flowers I wanted to purchase was not necessary. She told me it would be better to save my money! WOW is all that I could think at that moment! I trusted her judgment, and she was right on the day of the wedding. The flowers arrived on time at my parents house and at the church, and then later on for the reception. People still to this ask them me how pretty my flowers were. Dahlia Blooms is one of those hard to find places now-a-days that really, really understands what it means to be customer service oriented. From start to finish, Beata took great care of us and listened to everything we asked for. The flowers at the wedding were gorgeous, fresh, and the centerpieces were my favorite. But I most importantly want to share this: The day of the wedding when the flowers were delivered, we were missing corsages for the bride and grooms mothers. I was frieking out about it, but before the wedding started, Beata went back to the shop, made up the corsages on the spot, and drove them back to our venue, in time for the wedding. Turns out, that the sheet we filled out with her in beginning, didn't have mothers corsages on them. So it was OUR mistake we made! But Beata didn't tell us too bad, or it wasn't her fault. She went ABOVE and beyond, even when it was our mistake that we forgot to put those corsages down. Moral of the story is: We absolutely loved her dedicated service and I would recommend Dahlia Blooms to anyone looking for a place not only with great products, but outstanding customer service and dedication. This is our second experience with Dahlia Blooms Design. Our daughter was married in 2015 and we received a recommendation from friends about Beata and her work. The flowers were beautiful and the service was excellent. My son was married yesterday and he and his new wife chose Dahlia Blooms. I did not think that Beata could outdo the creations that she did for our daughter's wedding but she did. Hit a home run. The arrangements were fresh and beautiful. Everything from the corsages and boutonnieres to the church flowers and bridesmaids' bouquets were top notch. The value for the cost is outstanding. Beata and her assistant Danuta could not have been any nicer. They were early to the house and church and were at the reception hall promptly and made sure everything was in order.
