Atmosphere (none) was our car so it was great. They come get your order and bring the food to you in your car. No bathrooms.

My wife and I ordered the KN burger and a regular burger. We received the double 4 oz. meat patty on both burgers. They were both 4 oz. small patty. The vehicle next to us order the KN burger and they got the larger double 8 oz. patty. They accuse us of ordering the small burger which we did not. If I could give less than one star today to K&N Root Beer in Amarillo, I would do so. The service today was a joke, the staff were frustrated and rude, and the manager would not speak to me when I asked staff to call them after we waited over 50 minutes for two soggy burgers. K&N is choosing to prioritize Door Dash orders over their other drive-in customers to the point where we waited almost an hour for two awful sandwiches. My wife and I have been going to K&N for over forty years but today was our last visit ever. We don't need to be ignored so they can cater to Door Dash just to get a good burger in Amarillo. read more

The food here traditional drive in food. It's made to order and yummy. The corn dogs are my favorite, they are foot long and hand dipped to order...reminds me of the fair. But the best thing to have is their homemade root beer! The service is quick and always friendly. You HAVE to eat here! It's a drive in and they come to your car, take your order, bring it out to your car and check on you during your visit! We had cheeseburgers, onion rings and the TX size root beer in a mug. They make their own root beer and it is delicious! The burgers are huge and the rings were enough for two people. Food was great! It's our new go to place for burgers when driving through Amarillo. Easy in and out and plenty parking for an RV. read more

This was our first time here and the Root Beer is amazing. My kids got Rootbeer floats and I got a large root beer. I had to try the KN Special with all fixings and my daughter had the small cheese burger. We also ordered a corndog, onion ring and French fries. The food was amazing and the waitress was very friendly and patient. The ambiance is old style drive in where they take your order from the car. It's been around since 1969 and I can see way. Local gem. Best burger in town! They are hot and flavorful. The fries are crispy outside and soft inside. The root beer is homemade and delicious. A rootbeer float made with Bluebell ice cream hits the spot. I'd comment on some of the other food, but we've never gotten enough of those burgers to move on to trying something else. I've been here a few times now.. I came once on my last trip four months ago. I just got a gigantic large root beer which of course I couldn't finish so I got a to-go cup to take the rest back to my motel room. The next time, this trip, I stopped one hot day when I was thirsty it had the sense to get a smaller size. Another time, I got a small root beer float. When they said small, they weren't kidding. It was about an 8 oz glass that was mostly foam and hardly any root beer. It tasted delicious but if I got it again I'd want to get the medium maybe. Another time, I was hungry but trying to eat cheap so I got their small barbecue sandwich and it was perfect. If I lived in town, I'm pretty sure I would be a regular here. I wonder if they close for the winter? My favorite root beer drive-in in Indiana does and I always kick myself if I miss it. read more

This place puts drive-in chains to shame!! Stopped here last year with a friend because I had read about this Amarillo treasure that has been open for almost 50 years. Brought my husband while we were traveling through Texas and again, the food was great!! This time I didn't forget the root beer (in the traditional frosty mug)! The burgers are simple yet delicious but the cheese munchers are my favorite!! Tator tots filled with cheese and jalapenos - yum! Forget the ranch to dip them in, they are delicious without it. Thankfully some things never change, and KN Root Beer is one of them. The KN Special (double meat/double cheese) is still a treat, and on a hot Texas summer day nothing is better than a Texas-sized Root Beer in a frosty mug- the root beer isn't nearly as good in a paper cup, so make sure you get it in a mug! Amazing service, if you have a pet in your car you may get a treat like a grill weenie for Fido! They do take plastic now. read more

We stopped on our way through town and the ladies that were working there were super sweet and even gave us a bowl of water for our pups. Food was good, especially the burgers. My rootbeer was watered down so I had to throw it away. If I'm going to drink something so calorie rich, it needs to be great, and this tasted like it was poured at room temperature over ice so that most of the ice melted. Additionally, it was just a very bad value. A large root beer and a small bacon cheeseburger cost nearly $10. That isn't too high a price, but for that amount, I want a large burger that impresses me and for the root beer to be chilled with care so as not to taste watered down. Upping their food cost by $1 to have an impressive burger and taking care to chill their root beer would make this place 4 or 5 stars. Hopefully, they'll do better for other customers because I love real root beer and wish that my experience wasn't so poor. read more
