Stopped by Blue Sky on a road trip back to Dallas. I've been to Blue Sky in Lubbock and had to stop in as we don't have this restaurant in Dallas. When you arrive there is plenty of parking in front of the restaurant. When you walk in you'll feel like you've walked into a casual, order at the counter restaurant. To order you'll walk up to the counter, place your order, grab a table wherever you'd like (open seating), and wait for your number to be called/appear on the pickup screen. We ordered the bacon cheeseburger (with no pickles and grilled onions) and a large of the green chile cheese fries. My wife also ordered a hamburger but since the order of fries is so large, one burger and a large order of fries is plenty of food. The food was excellent, especially the homemade ranch that came with the fries and the grilled onions on the burger. If I'm passing through Amarillo again in the future I'll definitely be stopping in again. read more

Staff is incredibly rude. Nothing we ordered was excellent. Frito pie was a mushy mess from the time I received it and not at all hot. Fried mushrooms were soggy. Teenage son left most of his milkshake, which is a first. Other son left chicken tenders. Burgers were nothing special. The only way to the bathroom and back is to weave through the line to order, which is aggravating to everyone. They're heavy on the Texas theme, but as a Texan I would never want a visitor to think this is representative of good Texas food or service. read more

Drove to Amarillo for a quick trip and wanted something local to check out. I came across Blue Sky. It had fairly good reviews online so we gave it a shot! The establishment is fun, embellished with signs that say they proudly support our military (bonus points) and the music could have kept me there singing along just a little longer (overhead radio). The staff were all young but so kind and ready to take your order. This is a walk up and order, pick up your own food, and grab your own soda's establishment. They do sell a WIDE variety of beer! We had burgers, hotdog, wings, and ham and cheese melt! All were really good! The cons- everything was pieced out a la carte. Have to order sides of tots, fries or onion rings among other things. Our favorite place to stop. Still just as busy and good. I have left a former review but just want to remind anyone traveling through , this is the place. I think still closed on Sundays. We always try to time lunch just right. Add what you want on hamburgers. Grilled onion come in a little cup. Fries good. Malts good too. Service is you. You order, you pick up, you fill drinks. The fries were nice but lukewarm warm at best. They must have been sitting out for a while. The hot cheeseburger patty was placed on a cold bun making the whole burger cold like one would expect at a camp out. Could the cook (who was not busy) put the bun halves on the grill for a minute or two to warm them up? The ambiance is young and vibrant as was the staff. I hope they improve. read more

Great food. Easy access on frontage road by the hwy. it was crazy busy and we had a small wait once we ordered but after a long day of travel it was worth it! Milkshakes and burgers were delicious and fries were perfectly cooked. Chicken sandwich was awesome! Atmosphere is reminiscent of a busy, greasy diner. Absolutely incredible! Words do not describe the deliciousness this place delivers to your taste buds. I'll do my best though... The beef patty's are cooked to perfection and just melt away. You can't go wrong with any topping to your burger, whether it is green chili, bacon, or even plain, you won't regret it. The sides are worth getting in large portions and to share among friends. I like to dip my jalepeno and onions in their ranch. The chili cheese fries were so good I just couldn't leave any to waste! To top it off they have a sizable beer selection from your typical domestics and imports to your local crafts. I was told they also have a sangria? I could be wrong though. This place could have been better. We arrived on a tour bus. There were 33 of us and they knew what time we would be there. They brought us in the wrong door do we stood in line about 40 minutes before they started taking our orders. Once they started things moved right along but I'm afraid their regular customers were not happy. They got us served fast. The burgers and fries/onion rings were great. Fast service burgers are good but a bit messy to eat because they easily slide out of the bun. Fries are also separate with an additional cost $$. Service was quick as expected and self seating area was clean and open. I got the green chile cheese burger which came with the Green chile on the side and not on the burger. It was in a small cup and very watery I had to get a fork to scoop out the chile. The green chile was also too mild for me so dont expect to get something spicy when you order the green chile. Our experience was almost the same as SW's review 12 days before ours. We are on a road trip and wanted something different from traditional lunch fast good and Blue Sky fit the bill. There was a little line, but not too bad. About half the customers believe there is a Covid crisis and the remainder not so much due to the lack of masks. The staff pretty much had their masks on correctly with a couple exceptions. Back to the food. We enjoyed all aspects of our order. As someone else described the bun was toasted perfectly, the burger flavorful, onion rings with a crispy tempura coating and sweet potato fries crispy. The chocolate banana shake was cold and spot on! I think my hubby said 'oh my' on his first taste. We enjoyed our lunch out on the patio. Good stop on our way to Santa Fe. read more
