Awesome place limited menu! What they do they do well... the owners of this company really has something magical going on

I love Korean food. There's a few regular spots that I usually pick in Knoxville. K-Pocha is a relatively new entrant in this space. So, I was curious if this would be a new top contender. To me, it's not quite as good as the other options. The beef bulgogi bowl was pretty good and the egg on top was nicely done. But, I'd rank the taste/flavor as not as good the Gogi Korean and Won Korean. Also, no banchan (Korean appetizers) like Gogi and less appealing interior atmosphere. There was a smell of rank cooking oil that seemed to permeate the dining area. That bothered me the whole meal and made it hard to enjoy the food. Also, comparing K-Pocha to competitors, it's more expensive. If I am paying more, I expect it to be better. Service was decent and prompt. So, no issues there. Just not my favorite place for Korean food. Overall: It's just ok. read more

I've been wanting to try K Pocha and took my sister here when she visited me. K Pocha is a Korean street food restaurant. It has a small bar inside with several tables with one waitress and the owner waiting the tables. I ordered the Chicken Tenders Lunch Special with White Snow Onions and my sister ordered Bibimbap with a fried egg on top. Both meals were delicious! My sister said it reminded her of authentic Korean food from Seoul. She must be right since there were several Koreans in there dining together. The food was pretty good! I think the chicken was fried perfectly and the white snow onions are very much something not within my normal ordering but its totally worth a try! The cheese pull on the fried rice was awesome and the cheese fries have that artificial cheese flavor in the best way possible (like a cheese curl or whale crackers). Our server was more than happy to explain any of the food to us and was on top of our drinks. The decorations are pretty cool too and they play a lot of popular kpop music as well. The Coldest "Dolsot Bibimbap" in Town I should have been more concerned when I saw a sign saying "hiring all positions". The best part of the restaurant is the ambience which was average. I rarely post scathing reviews--check my history. I go out of my way to support mom-and-pop restaurants. The stars would've been a little bit higher if their attitude wasn't "The customer is always wrong". But sometimes, duty calls. I've eaten Dolsot Bibimbap for decades. A proper one comes sizzling hot, crisping the rice and warming the toppings. According to every credible source online, it should be: * Rice - hot and crisping * Vegetables - warm to hot * Egg - raw on top, cooks from the pot's heat * Meat - cooked and warm Mine? Cold vegetables, room-temperature beef that tasted parboiled, and rice that barely sizzled. When I mentioned it, the manager insisted vegetables are supposed to be cold--apparently rewriting centuries of Korean cooking. The service was just as icy. I ate maybe three bites, offered to pay anyway--and they gladly accepted. No discount, no apology. About $22 including a soft drink for one of the most unpleasant dining experiences I've ever had. If you enjoy cold food, cold service, and a hot stone "plate" that forgot its purpose, you'll fit right in. Everyone else: go while your rice is still warm. read more

I have been missing Korean chicken since the last 2 areas I have lived in didn't have nearby. I decided to try K Pocha based on the high reviews. I went for the lunch special today (a Wednesday) around 12:30. There were 2 other tables with people so it was quiet and quick. I loved the cute cafe vibe. Service was attentive and taking care of the 3 tables effectively. I choose the garlic honey tenders and they were exactly what I'd hoped for. Super crunchy outside with tender chicken inside. Sweetly, sticky, salty, a little spicy (not hot at all though, just flavorful). The lunch came with fries which were like this beer battered style that I really like but don't see very much at restaurants. There was also some cabbage with a dressing that looked and tasted like Russian dressing. The menu had lots of options that I've seen on Kdramas and so I can't wait to come back and try out some other offerings! The chicken tenders seemed like a better texture and quality than I've had at chain type Korean chicken restaurant (though I have enjoyed Bonchon in the past, this was so much better). Update-- I went back for a second visit and tried the teriyaki chicken, I also got the corn cheese fries. They don't have corn- it's some type of crunchy/powdery coating or topping on them. It's a little sweet which was unexpected but tasty. The dinner portion of chicken is between 6-8 pieces so it's a larger portion than the lunch special but doesn't come with the fries. Upon walking into the restaurant, the first thing I noticed was the intoxicating aroma. It smelled so good! The had K-pop playing on the speakers and what looked like Korean music videos on a tv screen. The server was very friendly and inviting. He was attentive and patient. The food was great! read more

Stopped here for lunch. The inside was nice and clean and the staff were all friendly. We ordered the Bulgogi skillet, honey garlic chicken tenders and the corn cheese fries. They also brought out the Bulgogi Kimbap on accident. The fries are insanely good! There's no corn pieces or melted cheese so don't let the name fool you. The honey garlic tenders were crunchy and covered in sticky goodness. The bulgogi meat was nice and tender and flavorful. It's a street food vibe so they don't have banchans like other Korean places. Definitely worth a visit. We can't wait to try more of their offerings! read more

I never write reviews but this place deserves the best review of them all. Perfect staff. Perfect food. Perfect vibes. Perfect prices. Nothing ever goes wrong and I eat here multiple times a week. More people need to know of this AMAZING Korean cuisine!!!! The kimbap, bulgogi bibimpap, & the fried chicken are always my go-tos but everything else on the menu is also fantastic. I ordered a green grape soju (if you've never tried soju this is absolutely the most amazing flavor you need to try) They brought out my drink first then asked if I wanted "the frog" I had no idea what the frog was! But then they brought out THIS! the most amazing device ever invented. K pocha is the most amazing place in knoxville. The fried chicken AMAZING! The kimbap AMAZING! The bibimpap AMAZING! I was excited to try this casual Korean restaurant as one of my first dining-out experiences in Knoxville. When I arrived, I mistakenly thought they were closed because their "open" lights were not on, and their door and windows were tinted, hindering my ability to see if there was any sign of life. However, some customers walked out, and that's how I realized they were open. I ordered the bulgogi kimbap. It came with a refreshing soup. I expected a lot more from the kimbap since it had bulgogi. Sadly, the taste of other fillings overwhelmed that of the bulgogi that you wouldn't know there was bulgogi in the gimbap. Regardless, I will still visit again to try other things on the menu, especially the tteokbokki but not the bulgogi kimbap. read more

Fried chicken is always yummy. Crunchy and tender. The curry is our favorite! Kim bop is another go to as well. Bulgogi is the tastiest.

We came during soft opening on a Friday evening. Plenty of parking in the plaza. The interior is very "street" style. We got our table really fast since we came before 6pm. I've always been looking for a good Korean restaurant and this one for sure is. The bulgogi kimbap is great. Our chicken wings with honey and garlic sauce are so yummy. And the biggest surprise-the Army soup, became our favorite. It is not a hard thing to make but hard to make it this tasty. The soup base, the ingredients and the Damuji that came with it, are just perfect. Hopefully in the future they have more choices on the menu and serve banchan. read more

I looooooooved the food. I'm so glad they opened one near the West Knoxville location. The fried chicken was exactly like CM chicken if not better. I think the price is also not bad given that we're in Knoxville. FYI!!! This is not a Korean dining. This is a Korean night out place for drinking and eating so don't expect side dishes like Gogi. It's a really nice vibe with their menu because of this. Owner says he has other events planned for the official opening!!! It's a small hole-in-the-wall right now so I hope it doesn't get too busy for us regulars . Please order the rose tteokbokki and spicy mayo fried chicken. Don't let the mayo part deter you. Tried this place yesterday with some friends and everything was so good! It's a korean snack bar type of restaurant that just opened up with some really good fried chicken, soups, and small plates. One of the better more authentic Korean restaurants, they strive for familiarity, comfort and portion size. Whether you order Bibibop, Army Soup, or Korean Fried Chicken, you'll want to come back for more. The upbeat, modern, street environment is specific to a generation, but requires a little getting used to. Ate here a month or so ago...heading back today! We had the lunch special chicken wings - golden curry & red hot - with fries. Excellent! I don't eat fried chicken often, but I wanted to compare with another place in town before posting to see how these stacked up.
