We ordered the fried chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries, grilled chicken sandwich with avocado, 3-piece chicken tenders and kids chicken and fries. We had the Chicks in a Blanket appetizer which was really good. Loved the bacon dipping sauce. I ordered the bone in Dark meat w mashed potatoes and tomato pie. The chicken was hot and fresh but the tomato pie was cold in the middle. When I say COLD I mean it was cold but the outside was hot, which was weird. I didn't even bother getting a replacement because I think things were taking too long. My cocktail never came out even after waiting 20 minutes. My hubby and I are visiting from Arizona and while exploring downtown Knoxville we stopped here for dinner. The hostesses didn't greet us with any smile and it felt more like they were annoyed we were there. We sat outside and the patio was nice and clean. Our server was nice but quiet and not as interactive but was accommodating when we asked for things. My husband ordered the 3 piece dark meat with mashed potatoes gravy and broccolini and it was very underwhelming. He was looking for the "wow" as it said "famous chicken" but it was just ok. I found it really interesting that in the logo of the restaurant it states "craft beers" but I couldn't locate any list of beers on the menu? I swear I looked everywhere. Now to the good stuff I ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes gravy and macaroni and cheese and it was AMAZING! The crispness of the batter was so good and so were the seasonings. The white gravy was sooo good on top of the steak. The Mac n cheese was basic but good. Didn't taste homemade but the mashed potatoes and gravy were really good. The other good was that the manager came over and asked us how everything was which was a nice touch and you could tell it was genuine. If I could offer any advice to management would be to ask the hostesses to smile and engage a bit more as they are the first impression of a very nice looking restaurant. Visited on Mother's Day for brunch and while it wasn't planned to go here , it was a very nice surprise as to how good it really was. We had a flight of mimosas that was excellent. Them for appetizers we had the pancake battered chicken bites. I had the boneless chicken tenders which were huge and collard greens , perfectly seasoned , and the Cole slaw. Wow!! I loved myrtles chicken and beer when I went! I had an amazing experience. I was just walking around market street and stumbled upon this restaurant. I was craving some good fried chicken, and I'm glad I stopped here. I got the chicken and waffles, sautéed broccolini and the banana pudding for dessert. Not only was the chicken delicious (perfectly seasoned, incredibly crunch and tender, very juicy). But the chicken gravy was phenomenal. That gravy has to be some of the best gravy I've ever had!!! The broccolini was yummy too. The banana pudding was also really delicious! It would be perfect if you were splitting it with someone. The ambiance here was also super amazing. It has a really cool, southern vibe and the patio was super nice. My server Evan was super great too. Even though I went alone, he checked on me the perfect amount and overall made the experience super wonderful. One of our waters was club soda and the sprite was so bad we thought it was a mistake and asked for a new one, but it was just bad syrup mixture and tasted terrible. It was a beautiful day with lots of people out and about in the square-- as a consequence there was an hour wait for a table. BUT, since it was just two of us, we immediately snagged a couple of spots at the bar. Worked out great! I got the chicken tenders which were perfectly spiced and served hot. I had asparagus and mashed potatoes for my sides. Husband had The Standard from the brunch menu. He said that's his new standard - the egg was perfectly poached atop chicken and a biscuit. Cheesy grits for his side. He ate every bite. Our server bartender Sarah was outstanding, friendly and quick even while juggling a full host of customers at the bar plus incoming orders for the tables. Parked in a nearby lot. Oh man we loved this place! Our server was hilarious and had great recommendations for food. We came with two locals and they exclaimed that the chicken fried steak was "the best I've ever had" and "one of the best I've ever had". All we wanted was more! The ambiance was laid back and the bathrooms were clean. Great mixed drinks, so everyone kept trying new ones which we all loved. The hot chicken sandwich was really good, I would recommend it highly. However, I got it 2X spicy and it wasn't hot at all (for me). I've never had a bad experience at Myrtle's Chicken. I work downtown and often go to this restaurant for lunch. I always get the buffalo chicken sandwich for a burger. Both are amazing, but the fries are some of the best fries I've had. The bartenders are very good also. read more

Definitely a great place for a quick bite. We came in for a sports tournament and wanted to eat local. Service was great! 20 min wait time on a Saturday night was clutch!
