This place was recommended to me, so when I came down to Rosarito, I decided to check it out. I was told they had the best tacos in Rosarito hands down. Now, I'm no stranger to good tacos. I'm from LA and I've been to Mexico a number of times, so I know a good taco when I taste one. But let's start with the service 1st, there were 3 kids working there, and by kids I just mean youngsters. They seemed more preoccupied with their phones and joking with each other than taking our order. Once they did get around to us, they made the order incorrectly. Then once our food was done, they just placed it on the counter and went back to their phones and each other. I was like ok, if the tacos are bomb, I'll deal with shitty service. Needless to say, the tacos were not bomb. They weren't horrible, because it's very hard to make a bad taco, but they were just pretty flavorless and bland. The meat wasn't seasoned at all, and the Tortillas were on the hard side. The location was easy to find, and it was a very chill area, but I would never come back to eat tacos there again. There are better tacos in Rosarito for sure.
Authentic side of the road tacos. About 5 stools in front of the wood counter overlooking the girls taking the orders and serving up the tacos (and quesadillas and tortas etc). They sell sodas but you can go to the mart next door and buy a cerveza to enjoy with your tacos. The carne asada tacos were my delicious choice. They were fatty tacos loaded with guac and the salsas and radishes were the perfect combination. Stop here for tacos if you are traveling to or through Rosarito.
Quick taco stand- $5 usd for 3 tacos . They offer pastor and asada only--- burritos and quesadillas also available. Service is right in front of you- grilled and assembled, salsa blend, about 6 seats at the stand and a few small tables in front. Family is friend and accepts pesos or dollars. Had cold, canned bees and sodas. Great value and quick service.
This place is ok. I see 5 stars but now that I'm seeing the gringos that are coming, I can tell the taste buds are VERY different. These tacos are just ok. Awesome family and service, but flavor was lacking for sure. Meat was flavorless here. It was a walk away from our resort so it was the quickest for food. Price is amazing tho. It'll hold us over until we get some great flavor this later.
I had high hopes for this place but was sadly disappointed. To begin with, service was terrible. There were 3 young people working and I almost felt as if I was interrupting their conversation when I finally got their attention to place an order. I ordered tacos and a quesadilla, but was told there were no more quesadillas. As I stood there..I noticed one of the female employees grab a bunch of cheese to make a quesadilla for another customer.. So I thought maybe I misunderstood and asked if there are still quesadillas..she said no and I let it go. I was confused because she made multiple items for that same customer that included cheese and the container seemed full of cheese - I speak fluent Spanish..therefore there was no language barrier. I ordered 9 tacos and 3 of those tacos were supposed to be plain...they were not. Upon ordering, I mentioned 3 plain asada tacos, and she asked me 2 more times after that to confirm. She was clearly distracted by talking to the other employees while she prepared the tacos. I was even more disappointed with the tacos. Meat was flavorless and tortillas were not soft. I've never had a bad taco in Mexico so I was very surprised. I don't usually write negative reviews if food is bad because usually good service can somewhat make up for it. But in this case, I felt very unwelcome and like I was bothering them. Don't recommend this place at all.
Best Carne Asada and Al Pastor Tacos we had in Baja Norte! We were staying just nearby at Robert's K38 and lived at this spot!! We came here for lunch and dinner a few days. Never had a wait because they are quick. They served both tourists and locals alike. At the time they offered either tacos or tortas of carne asada or Al pastor with onions, cilantro, salsa, and guacamole! These were delicious and came out to about to $1-$2 per taco. In taco standards, this is a great spot- simple ingredients, made to order food. The only meat selection was asada-they have adobada on other days. Tacos are simple, meat, onion/cilantro, red salsa and avocado. The corn in the tortilla are a great vehicle for the ingredients. Tacos are pretty good! A must try. Not too dry which is always a plus in my book. Services is okay, might be an issue with language barrier but can get by. Overall nice! Although this is right next to a market, it doesn't get as busy. There will be a short line at times BUT it moves quickly. read more

Ordered one torta de pastor and seven tacos de asada. Total was $14 (super inexpensive). Food was outstanding. The cook and staff are super friendly! Will comeback for sure! read more

A little taco shop. Friendly people and great service. Cash only. Nothing fancy a few stools to seat at the little open bar. But super delicious Al pastor and Carne Asada tacos and burritos. read more

First trip to Rosarito. My bf and I decided to try this taco spot near our place. Amazinggggg tortas. The carne asada is delicious and the pan for the tortas crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The tacos are pretty bomb as well. We'll definitely be returning to this spot. read more

I've been coming to Taco Surf since I obtained my driver's license which was about 20 years ago. (The California based Taco Surf restaurant ripped off the name and logo from this spot) Back then it was just a husband and wife operation, but now it has been remodeled with a full staff. They serve tacos and tortas either carne asada or al pastor which is from a split which you will not find anywhere stateside. I don't know what they use to marinate the meat for their asada tacos, but it makes for the perfect taco. The same goes for the al pastor which just melts in your mouth and has the right amount of kick to it. The tacos are prepared in a grilled double wrapped tortilla which gives it a nice crunchy texture to it. The salsa and guacamole is also made fresh on site. There is a small market next door to purchase a beer to go down with it. Tacos run about $1.10 and tortas are about $3. Try mixing the asada and al pastor to mix things up. If you don't stop here during your visit to Baja, you'll be doing yourself a great disservice. No other taco stand comes close to taste and service. read more
I was recently in Rosarito ATVing and since I had been wanting to try out this place I thought why not swing by for lunch. We were so glad we stopped by to try 'em out. This review reflects service only at the fish taco stand which is south of the other taco stand. I was fairly pleased with the number of options on the menu which included grilled fish tacos, octopus, spicy shrimp, seafood burritos, guacamole, ceviche, craft beers, wine, etc. There are a handful of tables in the back so there is no need to stand and chew. The prices were very reasonable and the service was great. The order took a little longer than I expected, but it was worth the wait. I had the grilled fish taco, shrimp taco, breaded fish taco and a craft beer. Since they don't serve margaritas they allowed us to order a margarita at the restaurant to the north and bring it in to enjoy. If you are near Puerto Nuevo, Cantamar or Rosarito I highly recommend you come dine at K38. Just be sure to come hungry as there are so many great options. read more

Very yummy street tacos. They are $1/each. Pretty small but delicious. The beef is from the shoulder roast which is served very tender and moist. There is always a line but the service is great. These street tacos are 5 minutes away from Calafia. Easy to find parking. I really wish they had more salsa options and guac wasn't as watery but all in all - very good snack. read more

Awesome tacos and tortas de asada. But that is all they serve so don't go there expecting options, you'll disappoint yourself and potentially miss out on something awesome but simple. Guacamole, cilantro, onion, salsa, lime only as well. No grilled cebolla or chiles. Order your tacos, park your behind, and chow down while you stare at the big Jesus up on the hill. read more

It helps that this place is at K38, the famous surf spot. It helps that it is an easy stop off the free road between Playas de Rosarito and Ensenada. There is a better place in downtown Playas de Rosarito for al pastor tacos, but as long as these guys are serving 85 cent tacos of this quality, I will visit them. They do have the best torta in all of Baja. Strongly recommend. read more
