Fast service, delicious food, and a great atmosphere. If you're in Rosarito by the bars, you can get stuck at some of those joints by default, but it's worth the drive or walk towards Popotla for Cuñado. The tacos dorados are tasty and cheap and the burrito just meat in a tortilla is very satisfying. Throw in a couple quesadillas and some drinks and the meal is complete. You can get in an out in15 minutes and a couple can spend under $20 easily.
Googled best tacos in Rosarito and this place popped up. Needless to say I don't think this place was all that special. The quesidilla was the best item we ordered. The tacos and burrito did not have that much flavor. Definately won't come back here due to the fact we found a place with a lot better tacos in Rosarito
The food is amazing! In particular the bowl of birria or Queso birria tacos.. This is my favorite place to go when I'm In Rosarito. This place is a local favorite that holds down a 4.5 on Yelp for a reason!! The reason is not the ambiance, if you're looking for ambiance keep looking. Don't be surprised to find this place packed even though they have a decent amount of seating. Usually they can squeeze you in if you're in a small group but if you have a lot of people with you there could be a wait. Ultimately if you like birria or want to try it then there's no better spot its soooo good. I wish all birria places could be so good- they set the bar for me. And now when I try it at other places I'm always somewhat disappointed. If you want to try a local favorite spot, really good and somewhat inexpensive you've found it. This is one of the few places I crave & always make a point to come here when going to Rosarito. Very foodie recommended! Happy eating!!
I recently visited El Cunado, aka the "Brother-in-law", on Valentine's Day, where the speciality is Birria, a traditional Mexican dish from the State of Jalisco. Birria is a tasty stew made with either marinated goat or beef, adobo, vinegar, dried chiles, garlic, cumin, bay leaves, and thyme. It is usually served with corn tortillas, onion, cilantro and lime. The Birria and consume is offered in different bowl sizes and is made only with beef. On this visit, I tried a bowl of Birria and two quesadillas, one with cheese only and the other with cheese and Birria. Oh My! The Birria and consume are very delicious and tasty. It had all the great flavors and it provided great comfort on this cold day. I dipped my quesadillas in the Birria consume and it really added a scrumptious flavor. The other Yelp reviews of El Cunado, are pretty accurate and I agree with my fellow reviewers. The dining area is open and the ambiance is very casual and typical for the area. The place is frequented mostly with locals and a little knowledge of Spanish is helpful but not necessary. For instance, there are no paper menus to order from and soft drinks are available in a self-serve refrigerator off to the side. The menu and prices are listed on the main wall and you order from there. The customer service is friendly and the food is served hot after a few minutes. There are no reservations and you seat yourself when you enter. After eating here I nicknamed El Cunado the "Birria-in-law" because of the family type environment and the food was delicious. The prices are incredibly reasonable and there is free parking in front.
You cannot beat the value you get. This place dies deliver authentic taco flavors at a still reasonable price, especially if you are paying on dollars. Had a torta de asada, lightly toasted with a good serving of meat. The fixings tasted fresh, especially the avocado salsa. The tripe from the taco could've been a little crunch but I guess I needed to request it. Overall, it's outside if the hustle of Rosarito on your way to Ensenada. We will probably stop by again. read more

WOAH. Located right off the toll road freeway exit snd with plentiful parking out front and back, El Cuñado set the tone for our trip to Baja RIGHT. It was crowded on a Friday afternoon - great sign - and we managed to snag one of the last open tables. The kitchen was cranking and waitstaff were working hard. The food was beyond fresh and delicious. The mula, orden, and consume were incredible. Outstanding flavors. Well prepared using quality ingredients. It was a perfect meal with beautiful weather to accompany. The cost? Just $6/person USD including tip -- outstanding. read more

Top 5 birria tacos in rosarito. Never disappoints. We come here like 5x a year the past 6 years and tacos taste amazing each time. MUST MUST try if you're in rosarito. Dorados are great too. Try one of each at least. Fast service. read more

Best birria around. Staff is friendly even tho it's always been busy when we go. If you're getting the meal to go, ask because you may not have to stand in the long line. read more

Super bomb taco shop open later than other places in Rosarito. Super simple but really good. Definitely satisfies those late night taco cravings. read more

One of the best things about Baja are those tasty, made to order, street tacos, generally about a buck. Everyone has their favorite spot, and this is one of ours. There's about 4 taco shops within a few blocks, but this one is always packed with locals (I'm often the only gringo in there), opens early (they were serving up tacos and Birria at 7 am this (Sunday) morning, and has great food. We have been coming to this taco shop for at least 15 years now, and it never disappoints. The carne asada tacos topped with a bit of guacamole sauce, onion and cilantro are amazing. And the Birria - soup isn't just for lunch any more. Plenty of locals were ordering it up for breakfast, so I gave it a try, and it was delicious. Tender shredded meat in a really flavorful broth, with chopped onions, cilantro and lime, and more on the side. A big bowl of Birria served w/ stack of corn tortillas and large cup of coffee came to $4.40 US. Can't beat that. Look forward to our next visit! read more

Awesome place, really good Birria. The place is usually packed. The food was amazing, I had the tacos. I suggest ordering the consome and dipping the tacos to make them more moist. I will definitely go back to this yummy restaurant. They have their own parking too. read more

The birria here is absolutely amazing. The meat is juicy and the broth is perfect. My family and I have been coming here for years and the food remains just as delicious. If you are not interested in eating a bowl of birria, you can always get a birria quesadilla (corn or flour tortilla). You can ask them to no put the condiments in your food as they prepare it and prepare it at your table where they have a container with all the condiments. Be warned, the quesadillas are very filling and the salsa is VERY spicy! The service is great, the staff is very friendly, and the prices are fair. read more

Only minutes away from Rosarito Beach Hotel. The place has a small town feel to it. Birria is authentic, delicious, and the hand made tortillas are to die for. We ordered a large order of birria with caldo, two birria quesadillas, and a mullita, then decided we wanted more so we ordered a plate with birria without caldo. Four people and our bill was 18$ including drinks. Highly recommend when in Rosarito. read more
