I enjoy the great Mexican tacos and burritos at Tacos El Zurdo. They aré generously sized in comparison to most other similar places in Rosarito. My favorite taco is with suadero, a very tasty meat not always offered at many taco restaurants. Here, they load it up with all the meat, onions, cilantro and guacamole the tortilla will hold and then top it all off with the very tasty house-made hot sauce. The venue is very open and has several tables to sit and enjoy your food at. Prices are comparable to other Rosarito eateries and appropriate for the good food offered here. Be warned however, don't buy a bottled soft drink and try to take it with you on your way out. They want you to finish it there and leave the empty bottle. A bit of a cheapskate feeling that earned Tacos El Zurdo four stars rather than five. read more

We were on a mission to find this place since it's known for their massive burritos! It wasn't hard to find because we were using the GPS on our phones. We ordered one burrito with carne asada,adobada meat and all the fixings. I didn't know that they were going to add beans, but it was too late...It was actually pretty good with the beans too! This burrito could feed about 4 people, so we had to order more food since there were 3 adults and 4 kids with us. We also had a variety of tacos and some Mexican Coke to wash everything down. WOW, just WOW. After trying Mexican food at 4 different places during a recent trip to Rosarito, this place took the crown as the top taco spot in the area, and one of the greatest taco spots of my life. The portion sizes of any item on the menu is HUGE. Seriously, get whatever you crave and you're going to be stuffed. The tacos are delicious. I got my favorites, the adobada and carne asada tacos, and they both did wonders. The abundance of flavor combined with the large quantity is a perfect way to satisfy all your taco cravings. They were 18 pesos which ends up being $1 each. My favorite item here is the MULITAS. I had no clue what these were until someone introduced me to it (if you're reading this, thanks Garrett!). I got the adobada mulitas de maiz which is basically cheese, guacamole, onions, salsa, cilantro, and adobada stuffed in between two pieces of corn tortilla. You will indulge yourself in these. IT WAS BEYOND INCREDIBLE. This ended up being $3 US which was a great value. My friend also got an adobada burrito and that thing looked like a delicious beast. Fully stuffed and amazing. Next time I'm in Rosarito, I KNOW this is what I'm getting first. It was 55 pesos which is $4. Incredible deal. I loved the big burritos because just half of one could feed two people I know this because I shared with daddy I had three bites and I was full.I loved the quesadilla because it was like a kids version of the big burritos because you can add meat and stuff that would be in your burrito it was a really good restaurant. my review.... heard about this spot from the infamous Brad B. and if he says its good...well then you can know for sure that you are in for a treat. I'll tell you a little secret....i kinda stalk his yelp reviews to plan my foodie adventures...not only in Mexico but on the SD side. we were staying at the Rosarito Beach hotel (like always) ...and our usual spot (tacos el yaqui) was closed! so i pulled Zurdo out of my list of Brad's "must try" spots. i looked it up...2 miles north of our hotel ...There is a Zurdo 2 about half way there...but i needed to try the O.G. location. We started on our walk. My 2nd favorite part of this adventure was seeing the northern part of Rosarito on foot...it is such a different scene than the touristy southern end. We stopped at smart & final, at a drug store (for band aid's), and got the kids a smoothie. We finally made it to our destination...so excited! we ordered the carne asada burrito (duh it's what we came for) and we also ordered a quesadilla with carne for the kids...just a heads up....may as well have just gotten the burrito. it was huge and a much better deal. can easily feed 2 adults and 2 children....especially knowing that we will be eating again soon. that's just how it is in Mexico. here's my 2 reasons that explain why this burrito was so damn good 1) i am a salsa fiend...i love salsa...i put it on everything...literally everything. There salsa here is amazing...i had a side of it too...i would eat a bite with salsa then a bite without the salsa...and i honestly can't tell you which way i like it better...the meat was so flavorful all on its own....but the bite with salsa with spicy and fresh..i feel confused 2) i am absolutely disgusted when i get globs of fat in my carne asada burrito...i would never return to any place for a 2nd chance if they serve me meat with all that fat...it's just gross and annoying to keep spitting it out...in this giant burrito...(well my 1/2 ) i got 2 teeny tiny small pieces of fat...thats a 5 star in my book! 3) ok...fine there's a 3rd reason..but it's not the deciding factor...the burrito is the size of my forearm! it's cheap and ...did i mention it is huge? oh well it is! unless you are a competitive eater...i suggest you either bring a friend to share with or pack the other 1/2 to go (for those late night eating needs)... enjoy your food here! next time i need to try some different meat read more

I went twice because there is a vegan option. Super delicious fresh tortillas made and right after the burrito is made. I was in heaven. The first time I went it was a great experience and the food was great. The burritos are HUGE! You can split a burrito. Cheap too! Giving 3 starts because my first trip was great and my second trip was so disappointing. Service was so so terrible, it was uncomfortable to even wait for my food. They messed up our burrito order and looked at placed the blame on me. Customer service isnt a priority, obviously! I was over it at that point. We stumbled across this place last night and I'm glad we did. We tried the pastor tacos & carne asada quesadilla. They were delicious and the salsa was flavorful with a good kick. The only down side was that it's cash only. We went back for lunch today due to the great experience. You can get 3 carne asada tacos and a coke for around $4/88 pesos. Although the food was good, the prices are misleading/confusing. Now of course depending on the type of meal you'll like to have will be different on the prices (tacos, quesadillas, burritos) but never did they mention that the types of meats or tortillas will have a different price. This is the list we ordered: - 2 asada with corn tortillas - 1 pastor with corn tortilla - 8 asada with flower tortillas - 2 asada with cheese burritos on flour tortillas - 5 coke sodas - 2 fresh waters The cashier charged us $822 pesos, however, when we did the math it turns out she over charged by at least $200 pesos. When we asked her to redo the price she then wanted to change us additional $40 pesos stating because the burritos were made up of all the kinds of meats. The internet is an amazing place. You see, without it I would have never seen a short, grainy, shaky and vertically recorded video of a monstrous burrito hiding somewhere on the streets of Rosarito. The mission: find this burrito and record a video of my own - the world needs to witness the Sasquatch of Mexican food. No frills, folks. Just after you enter Rosarito and pass Calimax on your right hand side you'll drive right past this shack. Blink and you'll miss it but using places like Subway and McDonald's as landmarks it's easy enough to find. This is not the touristy part of the city but rather the hub where locals spend their time and money far away from the resort/bar/club scene. My question (in broken Spanish) was simple: "Is this the place with the massive carne asada burrito?" The response was even simpler, "si." With camera out a ready to roll I placed my order and waited for the show to start. The massive tortilla loaded with cheese starts heating up and melting the cheese on the flattop behind the grill as pieces of carne are plucked from the oak fired grill and chopped with a small sword on the wooden stump. Soon thereafter the tortilla and cheese, (now transformed into a quesadilla) is brought to the front, opened up and ready to be stuffed. ALL OF THE MEAT, which I assumed was for three or four burritos is piled high on the melted cheese and topped with red salsa, beans, onions, cilantro and guacamole. If you're familiar with Tacos El Yaqui further down the road, this is best described as a perrone in burrito form and weighs in at an estimated three or three and a half pounds - certainly big enough for two and one of the best burritos I've ever tasted! Will I be back? Hell, I'd plan an entire weekend around this damn thing! read more
